I think this 'recommended' BM deletion is actually going to happen whether you want it too or not, because the current kali client is deleteting all stored BMs. Every last one, insta or not. |

Like Kieron said, these patch notes ain't final yet.
I just added it to the User Interface heading a few moments ago because they are closely linked to bookmarks and I have not been informed of the fate of bookmarks after the Revelations deployment. When I find out what will happen to bookmarks post-deployment, I will make that addition to the patch notes and update the original post.
My bookmarks werent working on the test server .. so im guessing they are voided ....!

It's a little more subtle than that. I think what was happening was that the client simply wasn't loading the bookmarks table on login. You could make new bookmarks, and they'd work fine for that session. However, BMs from previous sessions weren't being loaded at login, so every time you relogged you lost all the BMs you'd made, including obviously all your instas. However, they've re-enabled them now (because, hey, exploration is really hard to test when every crash and unexpected downtime forces you to restart from scratch :P), and they all seem to work fine, including instas.

Many programs flag the 'there is already a version running' marker, do you think they scan your systems too? nope, they just try and run and find the application is already launched, then give you varying options of 'are you sure?, no , or absolutely not. CCP will do the same. Its not against any privacy law for an EVE program to access an EVE allocated resource and find it already in use by EVE, and then restrict what this clearly second version is able to access.

All newly created characters now have their final skills & skill points increased (800 - 810.000 total). This allows for a larger variety of characters created, instead of min/max ætemplatesÆ.
Thats right from the patch notes.
Up to you, if you only have 350k sp, I'd create a new char and then escrow all my stuff and money from your current to your new char.

According to the new Dev blog: We compensate characters that have already been created (using the old system) and have less than 800.000 SP. Characters with more than that will not be affected. This will happen when the servers go down for the Revelations patch.
So congrats on your sudden boost!

CLARIFICATION on "cant undock in pods":
Okay, people keep saying you cant undock in pods. This is just wrong, you can. The thing you cannot do is change into a pod when you're in a ship (without undocking and ejecting or getting blown up).
The things people say about not being able to undock in a pod unless thats the only ship you have in station... is just wrong wrong wrong. I don't know where people get these ideas from. You can undock in a pod just fine, regardless of how many ships you have at that stations (btw, if you dock at a station with only a pod, you'll still have a ship in station, as you're given a free one).
Now... the removal of the eject while undocking... I dont see the point of this change. It prevented a lot of un-necessary lag even if it wasnt intended. So unless it caused some serious problem, removing it is a step in the wrong direction. We need less lag, not more, ty.

This should be "The icon for rogue drones in the overview will now represent their correct ship size (battleship, cruiser or frigate)."

Well , the excess of shuttles won't be such a big problem if handled correctly by station regulars. I never used the eject trick to grab extra shuttles , I self-destruct them all

wh have the gang changes be introduced in unchanged form? 90% of the posters in the gang change related threads were against the changes in the current form. ccp should listen to the customers. they mostly know better what works and what not.

Yeah, what's the reasoning behind this? Just when PNG is finally establishing itself, with full support in IE7, CCP switches to JPG? IMHO, PNG > JPG > BMP. AFAIK, there's no rights issue with PNG as it's open-source, and surely in this day and age we don't worry too much about larger files anymore?? (Okay, not as large as BMP, thank you ) --

Edited by: AirwolfRAP on 27/11/2006 11:06:23 Good news on Revelations being rolled out.....finally.
I am very displeased with the option to eject out of a ship while docking has been removed, if they wanted to remove this why not give pilots the option of entering your pod while docked, otherwise there will be huge amount of shuttles being purchased and sold.
Also, is there any chance we can download the new client or patch before Tranquility goes back up on wed, so we can play revelations straight away?
You have the ring, and I see your Schwartz is as big as mine.

Edited by: Wetgrave on 27/11/2006 11:53:16 On a positive note..!
I just came back to EVE after a 2 year sabbatical into real life for a while, which sucked, but was a necessary evil. I only came back a few days ago, to find that all of a sudden, kali is upon me. My pilot (my main) must be one of the oldest rookies in the galaxy, as I only managed to play EVE for a month or so before I had to deactivate my account.
EVE for me is the best online game that I've played so far, and with the huge (FREE! ) expansion that's coming up, it's just going to get better. Although admittedly, it might be a little rocky for a short while until the patch glitches are ironed out. But who cares with all the extra content that you're giving us!
CCP - you've all done an incredible job in creating a rich, fun, smart and engaging game to play - and that's "as is" right now, before the free expansion goes live. It's great to see the Dev's doing a great job here on the forums, answering player's questions and keeping us informed about everything that's going on - and that's a real refreshing change from the experiences I've had playing other MMO's.
EVE is the best form of escapism I've had since all my imaginary friends went away. Keep up the great work, guys - you're all stars!

Originally by: Jennifer Payne In addition to what has already been said about the removal of the "save password" option, I'd like to point out that forcing the user to put in the password every time encourages the use of weak easy-to-remember passwords and thereby is counterproductive to a "more security" approach! Please rethink!
Not remembering your password increases the likelihood of said password being documented somewhere on your HD and thus susceptible to a higher risk.
Which brings us back to protection against people's own stupidity.
Please keep in mind, it's not only trojans/keyloggers/other people etc. that have access to the client's computer trying to get the password.
My point was that easy to guess/remember passwords have a higher chance of being brute forced/dictionary attacked etc. without ever trying to hack the client's computer.
But I see your point.
Still I stick to what I said before: Now I have a choice to save the password. They want to rid me of that choice. Why? All it does is seriously annoy me! I can choose my own level and way of security! And I can take responsibility for it. Maybe they think the majority of users can't?

ôThis is being done in conjunction with the deletion of 'Instajump' bookmarks, a major contributor to database and game lag. It is highly recommended for players to delete their instajump bookmarks before the Revelations deployment. This action will improve client performance and decrease log-in times. Note: Normal bookmarks will not be affected by this change.ö I am a little confused by this. How do you tell the difference between Instajump bookmarks and normal bookmarks? I thought both bookmarks are made in the same way and are treated the same by the game. Surely my normal bookmarks will get deleted as well? If not how do you tell which to delete and which to leave?
