All this was given in the feedback during the last two test forums, not sure if CCP put it on the back burner or somehow missed the fact that
Quote:large quotes are large but that's only one problem among many. Go look at every standard piece of forum software out there. Email notifications, polls, text size, text color, images (and auto thumb-nailing), etc etc. Not to mention requests specific to these boards (the like button isn't useful without a dislike, except maybe as some narcissistic popularity contest. Calls have been made to either add that, or remove it all together. I don't think I've seen anyone that likes the like button on it's own. I've harped on this before (and multiple times since these new forums have gone up).
Props to CCP for finally ditching the old forums, but you have a long way to go on functionality. I really really hope that list in the devblog of future features isn't a comprehensive list of what to do before the forums are "done". |

can haz fix please? I have a more irritating problem in chrome. It opens the the thread in a new tab AND counts it as a click to load the thread in the page I'm working with. Talk about a drag. |

He's not bitching. Far from actually, there is a difference between constructive feedback and that, particularly because it is clear now that roughly 90% of the acknowledged user feedback in the previous test rounds was discarded rather than engaged on as earlier acknowledged by CCP. Same goes for a lot of the technical feedback.
Personally, being someone with visual deficiencies, I'm scratching behind my ears over the complete absence of any element of Usability standards, something also voiced during the testing rounds. This independant of design analysis, which promotes less active user behaviour patterns, as well as more shallow user behaviour patterns. Which is a shame, in many ways it is a step back to design concepts of the (very) old initial eve forums.
I'm not ever starting on mobile reading, posting, etc. Which these days is not just commonplace, but a must for online communities. Has been for a few years now. |

yeah, same for Opera.
You click the text link with the middle wheel, makes chrome/opera (maybe firefox?) trigger a new tab with the destination link. The underlaying script, that makes ALSO clicking on the "row" (not the text) possible will trigger the click for the current side.
Well, maybe this need a fix.
ps.: Rightclick -> Open in New Tab works perfectly fine. |

Why the F I'm thrown at the last page of the thread every time I open it. I'd like to read the op, then maybe the next pages, but not the last page first!
Edit: the forum jump tab won't let me "jump" me back to the subcategory I'm in. I.E this thread is in GD so I cannot go there with forum "jump". It accepts other subcategories though, like C&P and S&I
Edit2: I'm thrown at the last page even if I press the "page 1" to open the thread |

Akita makes some good points, but I don't agree about the readability of this forum. I find this much easier to read, in general. The thrust in technical writing (which is what I do for a living) over the last while has been to increase your whitespace for readability. Yep, there's no question you lose real-estate in a big way, but the end result is more readable. Yeah, it takes some getting used to though. |

I dont know what it is, if it is the contrast or the font. But i am gtting MAJOR eye strain trying to read these forums. And i spend all my day at work reading from a screen unless i am back in the stacks sorting. So.. yeah not looking foreward anymore to reading the forums during breaks.
And yes please wider text. Why waste all that space at the sides for art (while nice i grant you its not really why i visit the eve forums). |

I'm viewing this on a really high quality full HD Sony monitor and the OP is right that this is nowhere near as readable as the old forum.
The problem is the font. On the old forum the font is very square in that each character is rendered into a very square rectangle, which reduces aliasing and makes it very sharp. The font here is vertically elongated to a ridiculous extent and is far less sharp as a result. Look at a lowercase 'e' for example. It renders fully twice as high as it is wide and it's giving me eyestrain already.
And yeah, where is the old forum content? It took forever to upgrade the forums and they haven't even imported the old content. There's no images, no signatures, quotes are vile. What on earth have they been doing that's taken so long? |

Maybe it's just me who's stupid and don't understand how to open the first page of a thread, does someone know if there is a setting or something I could change to open the first page by default instead? And while on the subject of settings I'd like to be able to disable the warnings about external pages.

+1
Also, I'm not blind. I don't need everyone's massive photo posted beside their face. Give us the option to shrink the pictures. And maybe give us the option to see more than 20 posts per page on the forum. Having to skim through page after page just to see the more recent additions is already getting on my nerves.
Everything just feels like it has a whole lot of wasted space. Which, considering I think the same thing about the in game UI, isn't all that surprising I suppose. |
