Use HTML to link in your signature in your forums properties. The only wrinkle so far, you are limited to a height of 75 pixels.

Agreed with everything OP said and couple more things...
1. Clicking EVE logo on top left corner doesn't go to www.eveonline.com mainpage. Instead it goes to EVE Gate page.
-> I don't really need EVE Gate to anything. It is plain useless. Where is the link to EVE main page?
2. In old forums we had EVE main page links on left edge. Where are they now?
-> Bring the sidebar back please.

Oh, and as for suckiness, let's just look at the page header. They say a picture says more than a thousand wordsGǪ unfortunately, a single picture is not enough to show off all the insanely obvious errors in the design of just the head GÇö before we've even gotten to the posts themselves.

well im sure ccp didint move old forum content simply becouse none of them knows how to write even simple SQL that would do the trick. And new forum system probably is not even combatible with old fun and none of devs realised they need conversion tools for it.  |

And no, to look at pretty Incursion-themed background pictures is not a good reason at all.
There are two ways to fix this : either make them span 100% of the available width (quick and dirty) or make the width user-modifiable. I completely agree with this. Also, whatever method you used to lock the width also means that ctrl - doesn't help those of us willing to zoom out to get more text on the screen: the width zooms as well. |

Am I the only one that thinks tables are good in a game like this. So much of our information is tabular. It makes zero sense to try to communicate in forums in this game without at least simple tables available.
I also think they should have went with threaded Forums so we could get a little off tangent. Lots of our discussions spinoff and I got no problems with slight diversions but a threaded style could make a return to the main topic better. Thats another main part of this game that the forums don't address. We digress into different ideas just like the program branches off into different areas. This could work with a better quoting system also. The threads and quoting can be used to keep context.
I don't like the fixed width either. I need window flexibility in this game and one size doesn't fit all cause we all got different amounts of screen realestate to work with. This really shows up on the IGB. I 'm afraid to imagine this on phones. Looks like some CSS work needs done here as well as several style sheets if there aren't already a few different ones in use. |

Here's an idea with regard to transferring over threads from the old forums, for the twerp who suggested that maybe CCP didn't want people reading 5 year old threads. Why not ONLY transfer over active threads? Anything over the 90 day limit and locked would be left on the old, read-only forums. |

Anywho I find the "fade in" effect when scrolling down extremely anoying. It makes me "want to look at it" before I've finished reading what I was actually trying to read (that sounded wierd  ... and yes, I often scroll when I read something. I like it centered on the screen.) |

What I'd like to see changed / fixed:
- Middle click to open threads in new tabs, instead of getting the scroll up/down/left/right thingy.
- When I open a thread, i go to the last page.... wtf? Maybe I'd actually like to read the post!
- Width, I have a 1080p monitor, let me pick the width, or make it bigger. Make it fit. To those that have a 1024x768 or 800x600 screen, GET A NEW ONE. ITS 2011!
- The front page, its... hard to find things, font alignment should be middle left, not top left.
- I've always been annoyed and irritated by the BRIGHT WHITE font on the BLACK background.Would be nice to have different color themes, a brighter one with black/dark font's. Something normal.
- Make the quotes smaller (i guess), they don't look so good. (Still better than the old ones).
- See what threads / posts you've already viewed.
- Another font, please, or make it smaller. It's waaaayy to squeezed together, not very readable. Strains my eyes.
- Remove the likes, please, don't turn this into Facebook. If you won't, the add a dislike/unlike/hate button. Don't force me to be neutral or like it, if i can like it, i should be able to dislike it too.
- The smiley's, get better looking smileys.
 - Make the avatars smaller, so much wasted space.
- And again, so so so sooo much wasted space everywhere, and in addition to that, the width. It's terrible. And the font. And the color. And the animations, avatar-fade-in-as-i-scroll-down, seriously. Don't try to be so much, simplicity is better.

No, I think I have it right.
The OLD ones lacked perfection, but at least they were functional.
These new ones have POTENTIAL indeed, but that potential is far from realized, they're still not even stable ("we've been ganked"), and the sundry list of annoyances in the OP is just the start.
Most of these issues were brought forth in the various test incarnations of these forums, only to be mostly discarded in favour of an extremely rushed deployment.
The new forums in their CURRENT state are a clear step down from the old forums.
Therefore, "they suck". |

It's 2011, stop running things in full-screen!
The width is one of the few things they actually got right. Granted, it should rather be a variable width between a minimum and a maximum value, but it's about the right size as it is GÇö any wider and readability would plummet even further (and with the font/size/colour/contrast choices they made, it's not off to a good start as it isGǪ) |

Limiting the number of quotes in a reply is actually a wonderful idea! No more "quote-trolling". Instead, people are forced to read a comment in its entire length and then have to come up with a replay to it all. You really want to get away from those replies where each and every line is quoted and replied upon as if an argument was won by how many quotes you can reply to! It may be only a temporary limit after all, but imagine the possibility ... trolls can no longer endlessly quote-reply others!
Most other issues you are having are really design choices and do not hide anything or stop you from reading a comment. You really are just not content with the new forum, because of not getting a "the perfectly seamless transition", but because you are thinking that all the old content is now lost. Be honest, most of the forum's content was, is and always will be trolling and the few good threads that should come back will come back all by themselves.
In short, be cool and wait a few days. The new forum will look just like the old one. |
