Lol, the click topic get randon page is hilarious. If they didn't live in Iceland I would be totally applying for job with them, judging by the 'excellence' of what they release for us to alpha test for them it must be an absolute doss working for CCP.

+1
Something else, where is the option to set/control font size. It's semi ok to read on a small laptop, but at the home screen it's just terribad? |

Far from actually, there is a difference between constructive feedback and that, particularly because it is clear now that roughly 90% of the acknowledged user feedback in the previous test rounds was discarded rather than engaged on as earlier acknowledged by CCP. Same goes for a lot of the technical feedback. Personally, being someone with visual deficiencies, I'm scratching behind my ears over the complete absence of any element of Usability standards, something also voiced during the testing rounds. This independant of design analysis, which promotes less active user behaviour patterns, as well as more shallow user behaviour patterns. Which is a shame, in many ways it is a step back to design concepts of the (very) old initial eve forums. I'm not ever starting on mobile reading, posting, etc. Which these days is not just commonplace, but a must for online communities. Has been for a few years now.
Don't mind Sig Sour, he's completely sour from having gotten verbally beaten on topics of T2 BPOs, and he's hunting threads where I make any complaints whatsoever acting like a total douche. |

May have been mentioned, but I was sent to this page in the thread, so didn't go back.
Clicking on a linked thread opens said link in the window of the thread you are in and not in a new tab like before. |

Yeah, but that's a known thing. I mean, it did not come as a surprise to anyone who frequents the forums as part of gameplay
Honestly though, back on topic, I'm mesmerised by this release. Virtually nothing of the feedback they acknowledged was taken into account, not that I expected it, but I did have hope.

It has now occured to me that CCP is subtly trolling us, as in saying that anything we post in forums is irrelevant.
After all the actual post content in these forums is put into the last place by importance. Everything else - endless gray sea, facebookish games, pretty pictures - are given much higher priority. |

Ana Vyr wrote:Akita makes some good points, but I don't agree about the readability of this forum. I find this much easier to read, in general. The thrust in technical writing (which is what I do for a living) over the last while has been to increase your whitespace for readability. Yep, there's no question you lose real-estate in a big way, but the end result is more readable. Yeah, it takes some getting used to though.
Which just because they think it looks nice, doesn't mean it is. I have been reading since I was three and since I was five have been reading small print just fine. I am now in my 30s and hate the extra whitespace. It makes for slower reading and more use of the scroll wheel. When I received a Kindle as a gift, I set the font to the smallest size because it slowed my reading down horribly. When MSNBC did their redesign, I gave them feedback about all the whitespace as well. I did the same for Wikipedia. It didn't do a lick of good, but hopefully, someone who does web design recommendations will take a pause and realize that there is too much whitespace being generated in "modern" websites.
As for the forums, I have to agree with all of the problems. And I have to add one, I like the left navigation menu from the old forums.
And so I don't sound like an old fart, I do love the live updates to the post as you are writing a reply. |

CCP, nice job completely ignoring any feedback on the page layout and soldiering on with this padding bloated abomination.
Still with the fixed width layout? Great, I love having scroll sideways when using the IGB without having it take all my screen real estate. Never mind the 65px at minimum you've wasted padding each side before you get to the actual content.
Who's bright idea was it to have it open the last page of a thread? Utter Idiocy. |

That's quite the twist. You were beaten bad, kept taking your self in circles and wouldn't give up even if you were completely contradicting yourself... at which point I realized I could have my very own pet to defend my isk printing machine (if i picked some up). I don't have to feed, give any attention to, or even treat you nice and you will keep doing my dirty work. If you being my little slave ***** is what you consider "beaten" then sure you win. GF.
As for you cry baby thread, on topic of THIS thread: couldn't you give it at least a few hours before bitching? |

Would be nice if we can select different themes for the forums. I'd love a "lite" theme when bandwidth is a problem or just for getting blazing fast browsing. Different colour schemes will make lots of people happy. |

Which really is just wierd when you think of it, virtually all forum software and online communities work around that by means of adhering to Usability standards, frequently with control over text display options. |

Akita T wrote:Problem 5 : You ditched all the content of the old forums.
So far, the only news about it we ever got was that all old content will be simply forsaken, shoved in the soon-to-be "read-only" old forums. Was it really THAT difficult to commit to at least EVENTUALLY migrating all the old threads and topics from the old forum to the new one ? WHY ?!? Seriously, WHY ? Fix ? Even if it takes a few days, or weeks, or heck, even months, as long as you do migrate them one day it would be fine. No. Go DIAF if you believe in bitching over that.
Needs a clean break, there is so much ANCIENT DECREPIT JUNK, TROLLING and MISINFORMATION that we are far better off starting with the bits people can be bothered to salvage. I might be swayed to make an exception for CAOD (for continuity), but not for anything else from the old forum.
Go dig it up from old forum or Eve search if you think it worth preserving.
We were warned far ahead of time that none of the old stuff would be copied over.

Double post. That kind of sucked. My first post gave me an error message about having to many quotes but apparently still posted it, so I trimmed the quotes and posted again only to find the original was already posted. Yea that sucks. Not sure these forums were ready for prime time. |

because that encourages something called shallow user behaviour patterns, something of a tool in communicative process management in virtual communities. Effectively speaking, it can aid in guiding the perception and presentation of information available to diminish general activity and depth of communication.
