Stange graphic bug: the main graphics display locks up; stars, ships, the nebulae all freeze. The overview, controls, and chat work, to the extent I could fight rats.
Once I docked and launched, everything was fine again.

This will probably be lost in the sea of posts in this single thread but...
1) You cannot destroy wrecks with drones. They will not engage. Cans were no problem.
2) "Affordable" button does nothing in regards to courier contracts. I had it checked and it was still showing me courier contracts that had collaterals that were well beyond what I can afford.
3) Only because I need a 3 when I have 1 and 2.

I had the D3DX problem as well; and downloaded the d3dx9_30.dll, and then moved it to the suggested directory:
C:\Windows\System32
When that didn't work, I uninstalled EVE, and downloaded the full client; but now when I try to install it I get the error:
"Error opening file for writing: C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\res.stuff"
Any suggestions?

While in my carrier I hit the hide passive modules and every single module turned into a empty moudle slot. I could hide the empty moudle slots/show passive but it showed nothing equiped. Reloging did not solve the problem I had to eject from the ship and reboard it. Also had to selct hide passive and then eject/reboard to have it keep that setting and to show the modules.

I strongly agree with many of the comments made in this thread regarding the map function. The new map is useless, buggy and laggy. It's not even eye candy like this. Gte rid of the new map (which is never going to be useful - no new features) and bring back the old one.
Drone velocity does not show up in the overview. Neither do wrecks and cans.
My own drones should be background-colored, but aren't. The overview needs a lot of work.
The game is as laggy as before. Looting wrecks is a waste of time. Make them drop a can, and a wreck. So now I can ignore wrecks in the overview, collect my cans as before, ignore empty wrecks which I am now forced to tractor in. Then set evaporation time on cans same as before, and wrecks last until salvaged or DT.
This is a case of developers going overboard on implementing new features without proper QA and regression testing. I hope the next few patches try to fix bugs and optimize speed of the UI, because we are at the end of our ropes with a game which becomes more unplayable every day.
Throwing servers at the issues will not correct bad coding practices.

Post Rev patch, the system of Grinnacanne has been experiencing severe lag. The lag I've noticed overall has been reduced, but in this system (and possibly others?) I have experienced so much lag that missions are impossible to perform because it literally takes 2 minutes from pressing the lock target button to a target being locked in a mission and 2 minutes further to fire guns at these targets or release/control drones. The amount of time to dock exceeds 4 minutes also. Overall I like the patch, but I'd really like to be able to actually play, so please check whatever makes Grinacanne different from the other systems out and fix this soon.

The map, as I'm sure many have said, and I said a number of times during testing, works absolutly horribly. There is a bug for me, sometimes when I load it, it's so dark, that you can't see a think, you have to switch between system map and back a few times and it normally fixes it. One of the many problems with it.
Also, I'm getting a strange white screen most of the time when I jump, everything turns white, exept for the UI. Very odd, and annoying.

I am also getting the exact same messages in my log file (about an unhandled exception).
I have spare hard drives, spare copies of windows, and no life, so trying a fresh install.
If someone finds a solution, please post it here. I am tired of searching multiple threads repeatedly trying to find a solution (in case someone posts since my last check)

-- When running 2 clients, the frame-rate on the 2nd one I start drops severely. I haven't noticed a frame-rate drop on my small (17") monitor that is running the client windowed at 1024x768. My main monitor, however, suffers huge at any resolution.
-- Docking sometimes doesn't work with the WTZ option. The station reads at zero Kms, but the ship still travels towards it. I can dock if I select the station and hit the dock button. I had a similar problem with my old 'insta-docks' if I selected the station before I came out of warp completely.
-- The camera zooms in or resets after I jump and enter the next system.
Lastly, I'm still really confused with this 'new' gang system and the gang bonuses. So far I've trained Leadership to 3, Mining Foreman to 5 and Mining Director to 1. Do I need additonal skills to make Mining Foreman work again?

Second, the ingame petition seems to have locked down on me, I tried to petition this only to freeze for a while and eventually unfreeze to find petitions didn't work. I then froze a while as I shut petitions down, then proceded normally after the short delay.
Note that both issues occured just outside of grin, so I don't know if the day's laggy events there are beginning to effect others nearby, but possibly?
To the guy running missions in Grin: get out if you possibly can. 40+ jump queues to get in all day, from every gate in, it's lke the node for it is injured but won't die. --------- Gallente need ONE ship with an ecm bonus option. JUST ONE. |

Tried to buy Datacores from 2 of my Laser Physics agents and it doesn't appear to be working. No time to check the others.
Clicking the link "I want to buy Datacores from you" generates an exception. Tried relogging, nothing changed. Tried right clicking the link and selecting "Open in new view", it opens new window with "URL Error" and the following URL. http://localsvc:service=agents&method=DoAction&agentID=3012883&actionID=278/
Turned on "Show Exceptions" option and got a huge error message. Bellow is the top few lines. EXCEPTION #5 logged at 30/11/2006 03:50:06 Unhandled exception in TaskletExt Caught at: //lib/bluepy.py(39) in __call__ Thrown at: //lib/bluepy.py(23) in __call__ I'll spare forum goers the remaining 20-30 lines.

(Hmm, posted this once before but now I can't find the post... I don't think this post is negative or off-topic?)
Overall great stuff, but here are some issues, mostly map related... the wreck issue was already brought up, so I won't mention that again :)
- flat map doesn't stay flattened when map is closed, but button still thinks it is
- flat map needs to flip about its z axis when zooming in to a system, making it take much longer to get into the system
- switching map levels often causes the zoom level of the next level down to be stuck zoomed way too far out (e.g. when i'm in the ship level, I can't zoom in all the way to my ship, but can only soom in to the 20km or so range) I can't reliably reproduce this, though, and it's hard to describe. I've also sometimes been "stuck" in the systemmap and not able to zoom in any closer, when I should have been in the ship view. Usually zooming out one level (which brings me into the systemmap again) and zooming back in brings me back to ship view.
- The map often gets confused as to what state it's in after the transition; for example, i'm now looking at a map where everything is extremely dark and faint -- systems appear barely as a dark pixel, and lines are invisible. (Security status set for stars, all lines for lines.) It looks like the way the map looks like at a step of the transition.. if I zoom in the lines become more visible, but they're still extremely dark. Switching to systemmap and back to starmap usually solves this.
- Misc: warp To button in overview appears on everything, not just distant objects (orbit used to be in its location, now it's one over).. this might not be a bug, just a change.

On the matter of the directional scanner, here's one more whine to put back the ability to see rocks. I use it in 0.0 to manage rare rock growth(i.e. figuring out what to mine based on radius), and this is exceedingly hard to do via the overview because the overview is so much more cluttered and more suited towards displaying a handful of current threats(rocks are not threats). ---- AUS Corp Lead Megalomanic |

Here's another one I just noticed... Armor repair drones (and I assume shield repair drones, but haven't tried) do not repair any other drones that the person controlling the drone owns. This is a big problem as some drones cost in the million isk range and repairing them in station every time is just infeasible. Please fix this. Also, how about making it clear that when you're targeting and setting an armor repairing drone on your target that you're repairing them and not 'engaging' the target as engaging has the connotation as being damaging to that which you are targeting..

Manipulate your overview settings. make various preset filters to display the information you seek.
On the note of the map, I am annoying by basically few things: 1) When I click F10 and it loads, it now starts vertically, and doesnt show as if I am looking 'above' the galaxy. I have to actually start rotating it each time to make it show the north in the north, south in south, west in west etc. PLEASE FIX IT!!
2) Ctrl+scroll whell button is broken: I dont know what its supposed function is, but when I do it, the whole screen breaks, it moves to sort of system view, and I am unable to leave it in any way. Only via dock/undock to reload graphics. When I warp to station to fix it, it looks as if the whole system warps with me (claustrophobic EVE anyone? )

Would the fact that I can't log in be considered constructive? My main "lost connection" and now I get 'entering game as...' and go no further. Even though, using the same client, I can log into my alt account, I can create noobs on my main account and all of them log in just fine.
Cleared the cache, rebooted, etc, ad nauseum. Still can't log in.

The distinction between what items must be sold as a contract and what can be sold in the market is too dictatorial. I thought EVE was about free choice. Being told I cannot sell something on the market deprives me of my choice. If an item exists I want free choice for how I dispose of it.
The Market is one of the best things about EVE and not being able to use it for some things is just incomprehensible and arbitrary. What is the point?
I should only have to use contracts for complicated things or one offs that I want to auction or other "special" things that the market cannot cope with. Simply buying and selling for a fixed price is best handled by the market and the market should be allowed to do it.
Please remove the totally arbitrary restrictions that stop large numbers of in game objects being bought and sold in the brilliant, simple, easy to use, market. Trying to use a contract for something the market already handles brilliantly is an exercise in frustration.

In short wrecks suffer from 4 major shortcomings in implementation right now:
1) Wrecks are a combination of two things - loot plus wreckage. Therefore the display needs to indicate whether the wreck has loot or not in addition to whether ownership.
2) Whereas cans of loot was a minor hassle - each can guaranteed some loot by its mere presence. Now a wreck drops for every destroyed ship. This sets an expectation of reward (as cans of loot did) but the ratio of loot appears to have been substantially reduced. This creates a major hassle. Add to the lack of indicators of which wrecks have loot, and this is a major impediment to game play.
3) Wrecks realise a very important real world system of recycling. In short, for everything built and destroyed there is some measure of items and/or raw materials that can be recovered. Making harvesting wreckage - something that will result from every mission and every mining foray - require a high level skill set creates the circumstances where almost every action outside of a station results in trash, but you need to have many weeks to be a garbage man.
4) Unfortunately wrecks also place emphasis on another real world limiting factor - rarely can one person have broad enough skills and time to do everything from gather raw resources, manufacture items, engage in combat, research, and recycle garbage. For those of us who enjoy being a jack of all trades, wreckage creates a situation where the hassle of picking up loot cans (something that took 30-45 minutes after an L2 and L3 mission) and turns that into a full time job lasting possibly 2 hours or more.
I think wrecks could be a neat game experience, but under circumstances where harvesting wrecks is simplified to the point of being akin to mining. Extra skills and gear may faciliate getting better recovery levels (more minerals, intact parts and pieces).
I also think that Eve is currently at the low point with this patch because of wrecks. If secure cans scattered through every belt was annoying, then wrecks everywhere in space is just painful clutter. The negative impact on the overview display as well as not being able to know what wrecks are worth even paying attention to simply justifies asking what benefit wrecks will ever provide that is outweighed by belt sof regenerating asteroids.
It better be an amazingly good benefit after all. And since the high requirements for salvage have been set, those benefits will still exclude a substantial segment of the Eve population that in the meantime will consider wreckage trash in space cluttering the display.

I was having the crash after the splash screen problem (with the log file showing a python exception). So I reinstalled windows (spare hard drive), its now working.
Was XP Pro on a 2003 domain
Now XP home, no domain
machine Dell Poweredge 400sc, 768meg ram, ati radeon x850
I would still like to find a better fix, would prefer to use my other hard drive :)

You can no longer sell faction loot on the market. it has to be auctioned off through contracts. Not sure if this is a bug or the way its supposed to be, and if it is the way its supposed to be, someone should slap the person who made it that way.

Oh the lagony! Any requests upon the server for any sort of information, be it character profiles or market related stuff is unbearably slow in Citadel and Forge. Not sure about the other regions but it is horrid in the few places I have been in empire.
My fps took a horrible horrible nose dive and post patch my hardware actually improved. To give you an idea, I used to be able to run 2 eve clients on 1 pc at the same time with the following settings:
8xQS Antialiasing 16x Anisotrophic Filtering Gamma Correct Antialiasing Transparency antialiasing (set to Super Sampling)
and push 80FPS out in space (50-60 if I warped into one of those missions with the lame fog clouds of laggy doom) on which ever client was the active one. This FPS was maintanable irregardless of which client was made active (the one I am interacting with and thus giving processor priority to) since the custom display profile I use to get the above settings uses Multi Display Performance mode. Now my FPS is closer to 40fps. I refuse to start any missions for fear of what will happen on my client if I get a lag cloud mission.
The increase in hardware has come in the form of a SoundBlaster X-Fi card. Prior to this I was using one of the better onboard mobo sound solutions (DFI NF4 Lanparty) for sound. I've tried with the sound on and off and no appreciable change in performance.
My drivers for the vid card have remained unchanged since the patch (Fprceware 91.47) My vidcard has remained unchanged (GF 7800GT 470/1100) My hard drives have remained the same (10k RPM raptors) and my Processor has remained the same (AMD64 3500+ @ 2.5ghz).
The page added a crapton of good, but it cost me my framerates.

I hadn't seen this one so far so I wonder if anyone else has encountered it. Overview Problems: -When gang boss in a traditional gang, clicking to expand the Drones portion of the overview causes that part to expand up underneath the upper section of the overview. All drone parts become unaccessable through the rest of the overview. Closing the overview or "TABing" the overview does not clear this.
-After changing a traditional gang to a fleet gang and back a couple of times the gang protion of the overview becomes blank with no selectable/clikcable items in side it. Closing the overview or "TABing" the overview does not change this.
-Is there a way to clear out Gang Broadcasts? I could not find a way.

When selecting the dock to station, it doesn't always warp you within 0 km, it's usually about 1500 m out.
When using autopilot, it still warps you to 15km at each step. Was this intentional?
Broadcasting the target in a gang needs to be improved. It seems that it only shows you crosshairs on the target but only viewable when looking at the object in space. The message does pop up in the broadcast window, but you wouldn't be able to tell something new was being targeted if there were two or more targeted broadcasts in a row with out looking at all the enemies in space. I think it would be beneficial to make a sound when a broadcast message is sent and to hightlight the targeted object in the overview somehow.
Give us the option to specify the default distance from our ship we want the camera to be to be reset to by clicking the "Reset camera" button.
Some probes do not last long enough to do an analyze.
Why separate the directional scanning interface and the visual GUI of the system (F11). It's quite annoying that you now have to look back and forth. You also cannot scan for specific mineral types any longer.
To get Salvaging, it seems to take a lot more SP to train then you would think it should take. We are going to have a lot of wrecked garbage floating in space.
The gamma seems to be way too low now. You should set an option in the graphics to be able to adjust the gamma. This may also be what is causing the map to look very dark to some people. I was able to correct this by increasing my gamma through NVidia's control panel for my video card, but I shouldn't have to do that when it was fine before the patch.
Drones are attracting much much more attention then they should be getting.
Can no longer warp to a member of a gang by right clicking the gang member in the gang chat window.
Was it really meant that all the new probes require Astrometrics 5?
No longer see gang members hp in the gang overview area.
Leadership skills do not seem to be working anymore.
It seems that enemies in missions are not dropping as much loot as frequently as they used to.
I think the biggest issue right now is the Wreckage looting that has been talked about through out this thread.

I posted this in the general forum originally and was told to post here
I'm not a mission runner or a PvP-er but used to spend all my time doing courier runs and trading. I'd check for courier missions every time I docked and had no idea where I was going next. I'd also go through Escrow at the same time and pick up any bargains I saw.
Now I have to search each region for couriers and worse, if I found one, I can't accept it unless I'm in that region! Go 30 jumps to get the courier and find it's no longer there
I also used to only look at couriers that paid over 1 million ISK but if you put any figure into the minimum amount (even 1) then nothing shows up. bug
Same with Escrow. Browsing is now difficult and very time consuming and if you do find something you want, again you have to be in the right region to accept it.
Finally I tried to set up a contract to loan a corp mate 50 million. Contract went up ok but he can't see it so can't accept it. I think this one is a bug.
Suggestions 1. Allow searching of multiple regions for courier missions (contracts in general, in fact) 2. Fix minimum reward filter on Courier search 3. Ability to accept a contract from anywhere (if you meet prerequisites) 4. Allow submission and stacking of identical contracts (e.g. 15 x Raven BPC rather than 15 separate entries) 5. Ability to download all contracts of a particular type (e.g. exchange) in a very abbreviated form - just description and amount will do, and then we can look into it more if it looks interesting. 5. Tell me how my corp mate can get his loan
