As mentioned in this Announcement, Tranquility will undergo an extended downtime on Tuesday, 5 December from 1100 to 1500 GMT. During this time, a patch will be applied to Revelations including a number of fixes and improvements necessary after its initial deployment.
A new version of Patch Notes will be available later this evening. Some updates will be made to the notes over the weekend as more fixes and improvements check through the QA process, these updates will be highlighted in green text. Notification of updates will be made in this post and in the Announcement.
You are encouraged to read the Revelations Patch Notes for the list of changes and improvements already in place.

Yeah I know I am a pest, but I cant help but think of the 8 hours I spent downloading a faulty patch.
I rather have every Tuesday patch day with small 5-10mb patches, then have 65mb+ patch that has bugs.
How hard would it be to work in one aspect of the expansion at a time?

Holy cow, it took you 8 hours to get the patch? That's almost criminal. Someone should pod your ISP :)
When the servers came up, it took me maybe 15 minutes to download, install and get in the game.

Every patch has bugs, most of the other patches are to fix bugs that haven't been found yet. With a large expansion like this, it's just easier to find a lot of bugs quickly.
Also, is there any plan to fix the jump clone bug about your clone disappearing when you jump to the same station? I had heard that it was fixed but I can't find anything that says that.

Edited by: Kurdain on 01/12/2006 18:46:09 Hopefully this will take care of the insanely high number of empty wrecks. In a mission last night I got loot out of 4 wrecks, out of around 25 ships destroyed. I guess I might not care as much when I am able to fit a salvage module, but for those that can't, for whatever reason, it's very annoying to tractor in empty wreck after empty wreck. Not to mention a huge waste of time. Color them different, or something, or make ship that will drop an empty wreck not drop anything, I dunno.
Also on the Hyperion, the armor repair bonus does NOT state it is cumulative per level. I know it most likely is, but I think the wording should be redone to be clear and consistent with the other ships descriptions.
Thanks!
Oh, I had a bunch of bookmarks, probably not near what some people have but I was easily able to delete them 1 folder at a time, have you tried deleting them in small bunches?

Not the same issue. Those of us with A LOT of bookmarks are unable to open any tab of People and Places at all. No amount of waiting till cause it to open. Side effect of this is it also takes us about 10-20 minutes to login.

Dang man thats a long download time. u should get that fixed before u get mad at ingame bugs. Also these patches arnt just for glitches and errors. they will also be changing game mechanics, like reducing required skills for salvaging (if the rumors are true). and hopefully unerfing drop cans and unnerfing heavy assault missiles range at least.

One thing I noticed, while testing POSes on the test server, was with Gallente POSes, the silos are kind of fubar (shock).
For instance...although you can put 40k m¦ into the silo, it still shows as 20k capacity. When you try to drag and drop additional materials of from a stack of materials that is greater than capacity, it just doesn't allow you to do so...it tells you there is not enough room, and doesn't allow you to split the stack. ------------------- |

Make a complexe program for 500 users with 20-30 TI people. After that, maybe you'll have an hint of comparaison with the complexity of eve-online and having a team of 100-150 people with 300-400 ISD under it.

I would like to voice my opinion as well about the empty wrecks. I think it would work well that when a ship is destroyed it leaves behind a wreck, but if there is loot, then have it drop a cargo can just like it used to. That way, you can simply remove the wrecks from your overview and it will be just like it was before.
It's a huge waste of time and a big source of frustration to sit there for 20 minutes hauling in all the wrecks on your lvl 4 mission to check them for loot only to find out that half of them are empty.
Also, concerning contracts... I think that there should be some kind of sorting feature. I can't find a single BPC without scrolling through everything and stumbling across it with luck.
Thanks for all that you do CCP! YOU ROCK and can't even be compared to other producers of online games. You easily top them all.

Re: Wrecks
I think the wreck problem would be solved if you just made "wrecks with loot" and "wrecks that are empty" a different object on the overview. Then we could just remove "empty wrecks" using the filter, unless you intentionally wanted to see them for salvage purposes.
That way the wrecks would just disappear off the overview as they were cleaned out. No more clutter :)

Please tell me that the Lachesis not getting a bonus to heavy assault missile's was an over sight that it is getting corrected. Otherwise, it's current missile bonuses are a little messed up, Heavy missile and light assault missile rof bonus, when other ships that had a heavy bonus also now get a bonus for heavy assault. I would rather see the light assault bonus dropped and replaced with the heavy assault and would imagine many other would too as it is a cruiser sized weapon.

This is actually an intended feature, Wrecks that you killed are considered as your property, and the patch notes for Revalations state a fix that prevents drones from attacking their owners property. Intended, but not exactly helpful. -----

Quote: # The scan strength of drones has been increased to 7.5 for ligth drones, 12.5 for medium and 22.5 for heavy. This only affects for probe scanning as they can not be target jammed. # Backup arrays now give a bonus to the sensor type listed in their description. Tech 2 versions now give a 48% bonus.
I'm guessing ECCM and backup arrays are going to become really common on lowsec mission setups. :)
Good move, and puts the ball in the mission runner's court. Whether it achieves the right balance I don't know. But I guess we'll see. * * * In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

people and places is my main concern as ive not deleted my bms yet and would like to do so.
in adition i would like to see some changes made to the current contract system......
1) the ability to scan the whole of eve as once before
2) the ability to scan for a written item inputted by a player
3) the ability to actually buy a item off contracts without having to go to the region that they are in.
couldnt really care less about the other issues tbh, those are my main concerns at the moment

I have no desire to make you repeat yourself, but...
I'm one of those that didn't delete his BMs.
Why?
Because I'm a horrible, paranoid, unhelpful person who has no desire to get rid of something just because there's a new feature.
Now, if you are going to delete all insta bookmarks, including any inside cargo containers, and I have no way whatsoever to avoid it, then I will delete them, simply to save myself, and apparently CCP's, time. What I would really appreciate is a flat response saying yes/no they will be deleted, rather than just what I infer from various threads and patch notes.

To be honest, I'm a little dissappointed that my insta-dock BMs will be deleted. Not that I need them to insta-dock anymore, but they were a great navigational tool.
Before I didn't need to think which station to dock at because my BMs would automatically get me to my home station. Now I'll have to sort through and memorise a whole bunch of stations throughout empire. That, and its mildly annoying to sort through 10 stations on my overview trying to find my one.
Oh well, I'm just lazy. My first whine ever! =)

Only one major complaint. The old escrow worked great. I could glance it in 5 minutes and buy stuff from it. This new contract system is ok but way too cumbersome to use. I do not want to search stuff in escrow. I wanna see what is in it in all regions and buy rare stuff. Most of the time I do not know what do I want - I just browse for opportunities. The contract one is horrible. If you wanna browse you need hours to go thropugh various regions. This will make all sellers converge to Jita again and we all know how fun is being there on a Sunday.

How about the corporate logo colors get fixed. If you choose the top two colors(left), or the bottom last two colors(right), the chosen shape on the left is erased, and all you get is a color hue. This has screwed up A LOT of corporate logo's that exist out there.
if you go to www.hammerandfist.com you'll see my actual coporate logo BEFORE revelations. however if you look me up in eve "spyrule" and look at my corporate logo, you'll see how it has changed. Despite me not having made any changes to the logo myself (revelations bug). could this get fixed? stupid bug, but our corporate logo's do actually help to identify friend/foe when looking at other players.

Originally by: Gen M Only one major complaint.
Gen Eve
exactly... I can see the idea behind it but in practice well there are things I can't figure out with private contracts yet, like how to find them to claim them..
and you can remote search which is all well and good but if you have to fly to the region to get a good deal it'll be gone before you get there.
as well It takes away the impulse buy. I have billions in things I've bought but will probably never use. the skill is an easy train, would have been better to have it available before the patch :(
love the warp to 0 but on stations it's not always on the mark and in 0.0 it can be off enough that it could cause problems
but it saves so much time in bm management I can well live with that:)
it's at times like these I am glad I have mature chr's sp wise to be able to jump right on to the new skills, I'd hate to be starting over with a new chr just starting the game...I see so many new peeps trying to get into ships they're not ready for.
Been playing since week one and still going like the patch but the escrow --> contract system is in need of work...I hope on the Dec. 5th patch

Being one of the guys who has deleted a lot of his BM's (I waited until seeing and using the 0km warp on TQ though), as for stations I just bookmark the actuall station instead of making an instadock.

Thank you for these added fixes. I have one thing to add:
Is it possible to do something about the big white flash on the screen that many players get at most of their gate-jumps? It leads to a headache over time when you chain courier missions, and it is just flat out annoying.
If it is something in our graphics setup we need to change, please advice on it. I use a Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT.
Thank you in advance.

I want to suggest changing for the description on assault missiles skill. At the moment it has the same description of heavy missiles skill.
Heavy Assault Missiles -> Skill with heavy missiles. Special: 5% bonus to heavy missile damage per skill level.

Need I stress that colour coding wrecks after one has checked them will NOT be enough?
*Previously about ~20% of the rats dropped cans, all of the cans had loot, after the cans where looted the can blew up, the window with the cans content closed when the can blew up.
*Now all rats drop "cans" known as wrecks, all wrecks a have ~20% chance of loot, wrecks don't blow up after they have been looted, the window with the wrecks content does not close on its own.
1. We should have a colour coding system for the wrecks. One colour for the empty ones and another for the wrecks with loot. The wrecks should be colour coded AS SOON AS THEY SPAWN! And NOT after one has INDIVIDUALLY CHECKED THEM! 2. There should be an option in the overview to remove the empty wrecks. 3. The wrecks loot window should close on its own after the content has been removed.
It's painful to collect the loot now, annoying ... but also removing the fun factor out of mission running...

Lots off ship modules ar not working in the system SAILA .
Its only in that System .
It makes doing a simple mission 2 hours . Relogging is not helping and gets u in a log in queue of 68 . That takes 30 min .
Most of the time the system have someting like 120 people in local . Thats not to bad ? Even Jita with 700+ in local is working beter .
Please fix it .

There are some 'issues' I'd like to see addressed in a future patch:
1) The Combat View no longer works. Oh, you can get a magnified image of the target and it's surroundings, but you no longer get a crosshair and the ability to target-lock the intended target.
2) I totally agree with ChevChellios about having to rezoom after every jump. It's a pain!
3) Why o WHY won't autopilot jump to 0km at gates??? All it's doing is FORCING people to do long runs manually. If you leave it to autopilot, you're exposed to rats for no reason at all.
4) I can understand why the tractor beam won't move ships. I can understand why it won't move roids. What completely baffles me is why it won't move unanchored secure cans that BELONG TO ME. This is just dumb.

Does CCP plan to make drone commands ever working properly? It's bad enough that the drones ignore the ships at 5 km firing at me and opt to aggro the inactive ones 60 km away, but now I have to keep constantly repeating my orders, as apparently drones are 3 year old children that need to be told several times before obeying.
How hard is it to make the drones: a. NEVER override a given command b. NEVER fire on an inactive ship
Even a way to tell them to never auto-target anything under any circumstances and only attack assigned targets would be welcome at this point.
And of cource as a mission runner I would like to know if CCP plans to do anything about the multitude of ways missions can be ruined by hostiles/griefers due to their complete dumbing down of the scanning process and the uselessness of trying to loot if you don't want to salvage.
Frankly, I am disgusted by this latest implementation on EVE. ________________

What oh what don't people understand about timesinks?
Of course warp to 0 does not work with autopilot. The two working together would mean one could safely travel for long periods of time afk. If you wish to travel safely, then you should have to spend the time and effort to do such.
While we might not like or agree on all the timesinks put into Eve, I think we can all thank them on their unique skill system. It might be nice to see a similar skill system in any new game that CCP might come out with in the future (Hint, Hint ).
As to the new contract gui, it has killed escrow. No sorting by item, title, or price with it being spread out over multiple lines on multiple screens has made it into the biggest timesink in the game for anyone wishing to browse it. To be honest, the region by region would not be too bad if we still had a single-line user-controled sorted display we could view. I am no longer interested in purchasing over-priced toys since it now takes at least 10 times longer to do any browsing and I cannot be sure if I am getting the best deal without sorting.
Now the question I have that will never get answered is this. Was this change done by people that knew nothing about high-volume order processing screen design or was it done intentionally to use up more time? I believe the answer is a little of both.

Please make empty wrecks and looted wrecks share the same color-code. There is essentially no difference between the 2. (This may already be the plan.)
Please make empty/looted wrecks something we can switch off in the overview.
I believe this would solve the annoyance/time wasting issues in a simple and efective manner.

Obviously, that's what I was suggesting a bit earlier, it's a huge time sink to loot wrecks, compared to the previous system. Yes, empty wrecks should have a different colour then the ones with loot and we should be able to switch them off in the ov. And yes, once looted, a wreck should become empty... colour coded as such and automatically removed from the ov. if the option is checked.
Or, bring back the cans for the loot, letting us ignore the wrecks altogether...

This may sound like a minor issue/moan, but when is the out-of-game item and skill database going to be updated? Not only does the lack of an update mean that such tools as evemon and quickfit no longer work properly, but it makes it very difficult to find some items. My experience is with the heavy assault missile and heavy assault missile specialisation skills - no way, except guessing, of knowing where they might be found.
Also, why isn't the HAM skill available at all schools? All the other tech 1 missile skills are; why not this one?
The same applies to the HAM launcher and missile BPOs. I'm sure there are plenty of other examples, however. I just haven't looked for them yet.

Warp to zero replaces insta bookmarks in functionality. The auto-pilot couldn't use instas, so the auto-pilot will not use warp to zero either. On another note, maybe CCP want people to PLAY the game, not autopilot it....

In my overview, I have every type of ship/NPC/entity/drone,etc. selected.....yet NONE of the NPC ships will show on my overview. I filed a Petition on Wednesday - still no response. I tried going to the help channel - WHAT A COLOSSAL WASTE OF TIME! I was advised on the help channel to file a Bug Report - so I did that yesterday (still waiting for a respone to that).
This pretty much renders me unable to target ships for combat missions, etc.

The stars in systems like to shine through planets. They also seem to "blink" when shining through the planet.
Shading is messed up on planets. Can't really describe it, and don't have a picture, just look at any planet that is being illuminated by a star and you'll see what I mean.
I'd also like to re-iterate the need for a fix to the white flash after a jump through a stargate.
And another iteration, the need to add seperate icons/colors to looted/unlooted wrecks, as well as applying looted wreck icon/color to wrecks that spawned with no loot, or a seperate icon/name altogether.

Fix the drones unlocking assigned npc target bug
Drones will unlock an assigned npc target after some time and relock a new npc target if one is present
This bug has been in eve for about a year but has not been fixed. And I just did a mission and it happened to me so I know that it has not been fixed
The bug is very simple; drones will after some time unlock an assigned npc target and relock something else
NO the target did not move out of range and NO I did not tell the drones to attack something new
The most simple way to see the bug is to place your self between 2 npc structures both of them beeing around 40km from you and 80km from each other
If the drones dont unlock on their way towards target 1 then they will unlock towards target 2
This can also be seen when fighting npc targets with a nice tank, after some time the drones will unlock the targe tthey are attacking and relock something else if there is another target within range
This bug applies to all drones and you can use any drone to see it but if you cant find the all or any drones then use ogres

Before I trained 2 level 5 skills for salvage I checked the forums after the patch. And guess what? THE NEXT DAY it was stated in this thread http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=433090 that salvage prereqs would be lowered "- Decrease the pre-req which is a tad high atm (This will be in the Tuesday patch)." YOU wasted your time by not staying informed. It was stated repeatedly on the help channel from 30 NOV on that the prereq would be lowered.
Now, why do you suppose they lowered the prereqs? Because ppl complained? I think they lowered it because they realized oops we don't have enough people salvaging all of these wrecks being created. Personally, I assumed the prereqs were going to 4's so I trained an additional 36 hours from 3's to 4's that I didn't specifically need to. Oh well I have those skills for something else later. But I didn't waste my time going to 5's just for salvage because I knew 1 day after the patch that the prereqs would change within a week.
You snooze you lose... Attention to detail FTW!

Salvage is rank 3, hmm, that's just swell. Not. Finding piles of garbage has become a nobel-laureate profession now?
And the reqs for Salvage go down to Survey 3 and Mech 3? Gee, just in time for the rest of to finish Survey 5. What a rip, just because piles of noobs and macro-miners complained. Hmph. Grow a pair, CCP, and stick to your guns. Either that, or refund me the 5 days it took to skill up survey - which is otherwise useless to me.
While I'm at it, how about a refund on this useless biology skill.

Salvage simply takes too long.
In order for it to be economically viable for a ratter to hang around a belt after looting to salvage - and please don't insult my intelligence by pretending the possibility of a dedicated salvaging profession of people going around doing nothing but - each component needs to remain at its current market cost of 250k isk each, or it makes less isk/hr than moving onto the next belt.
This puts the cost of a rig - with the updated build requirements currently on SISI - at over 250m isk per T1 rig.
Lets not add how soul-crushingly BORING hanging around a wreck for minutes at a time waiting for the dice to roll a 20 is. I'd have though if there was anything to learn from ECM, its that chance sucks.
If this isn't bad game design, I don't know what is. ----------------

hehe. why in the first place do i have to look for melted circuits and other junk to build something from it? why cant i just set a bantam on fire and get that junk out of it for rigs? or why can't i just build the functional circuits and make rigs from them? i can hardly believe a rig works with damaged components (and if i want those i can purposely damage working components :P). the whole idea of the source for rig components is silly, but oh well, this is OT here. --

I couldn't really comment on your intelligence but we have dedicated salvage piolts in this neighbourhood, they clean up all the belt rats produced by mining ops and follow the mission runners around. Destroyer seems to be a popular ship as components are small and a destroyer can fit 4 tractors and 4 salvagers. Also if you ask nice they'll throw all your loot into a can for you so looting is much easier. Perhaps you just live in a bad neighbourhood.

1. Fix the lag. Somehow, every single "patch" that introduces "optimizations" to the client and the server since DRAGON has destroyed lag-free or lag-lite gameplay. It progressively gets worse and worse. CCP has a horrible record of saying "Oh, this is what's causing the lag" and then they change it, and the lag stays the same. Supposedly they increase the server capacity by 40%, but somehow the game is still EXTREMELY laggy during peak and eve non-peak (2 hours before DT) times. Kali1 takes effect and then you get the dreaded weapon slot won't deactivate/weapons fail to fire while waiting for synch/it takes 87 seconds to dock at a station. There were 12,000 people on the server last night, and it took 10 minutes to jump from Isen to Saila, while being told I was number 65 in the queue. The warp to zero was supposed to help get rid of instas, which supposedly were the harbingers of lag... but I know people like me diligently deleted all their instas, and have seen a DECREASE in performance.
I hate to be one of those people... but if this patch on Tuesday doesn't make things remarkably better, I'm going to cancel my sub with my friends until these forums reflect better gameplay experience. And I plan on coming back if it gets better, so no you can't have my stuff. If it doesn't get better, then maybe if you're lucky. (Gist X-Type XLarge SB, anyone?)

Hi
Firstly (and reason why i post) Plz fix so drones can attack wrecks, If you are doing some of the big missions, its very confusing to have 40-50 wrecks lying.
Secondly (this is probably off topic) As a dedicated drone figther im a bit dissapointed with revalations. I was hoping for some kinda faction stuff for dronefigthers. What i mena is: There are faction guns, faction ships with plusses to guns, faction ammo. But for us dronefigthers theres well nothing. Would have been really cool to see a faction version of the domi or some faction drones introduced (re-introduced, since the hellhounds were taken out)
I love eve, and fighting with drones, is my career of choice, but since im close to maxed out on the drones/domi combo, theres really not much more to train for :-/
just a thought

Originally by: Graduran Anguirill before the patch i was running missions for around 3-4 hours every day, because I thought it was fun and I actually liked it and the payment overall was decent for a new player. I like loot (even if its craploot!), I like looting if there is loot, I like killing rats and I like missionobjectives and well, I liked missioning as a new player (about a month now).
Now, I dont even bother logging in at all, I helped a friend yesterday with a mission that ended with 50+ wrecks, I went around to 10 of them for starters and none of them had loot so I just warped home to HQ and logged after I wasted around 20 minutes on nothing.
Can someone with experience give me suggestions as of what to do now, I dont like missioning anymore since the lootpart is 100% ruined. I cba to drive around for ages from empty wreck to empty wreck finding nothing, thats just a waste of time for _my_ part, we are all different and while some people perhaps enjoy flying around for nothing, I dont. I need goals to drive somewhere, I want purpose, without purpose its dull to do something in a game. While I can agree with that EVEdude to a certain extent that it is realistic that every ship drops a wreck, I can also say that realism should never, ever exceed funfactor in importance, that goes for every single game out there on the market as of today including EVE or the game looses its mainpurpose, to be fun to spend time on.
...
Perfectly stated. Jiekon / Kieron / CCP read this again: >realism should never, ever exceed funfactor in importance >realism should never, ever exceed funfactor in importance >realism should never, ever exceed funfactor in importance >realism should never, ever exceed funfactor in importance >realism should never, ever exceed funfactor in importance
Realism would be lots of Scrap Metal of 10m3 each in wrecks. Realism would be Salvager modules showing salvagable items in wreck contents, not magically moving it into cargohold.
Fun would be cans for loot and wreck for salvagers. Fun would be loot automatically moved into cargohold if can within 5km, just like salvage does. Fun would be Salvage not being chance based anymore.
Bring back the cans Tuesday.

How about making the salvage items a wee bit easier to come by??? At least one guy in my corp has been salvageing since day 1 and has a total of about 36 different components. after searching well over 300 wrecks, that's almost a 1 in 100 chance of getting something... rigs are never going to take off unless this is changed...

Maybe idea was to make it a bit more dangerous so that you have to spend time near wreck before you get the loot... More or less you should get more items over time... and this can be either done two ways: either remove time it takes or more items per salvage.

I've got a few comments on contracts, specifically auctions.
First, to get it out of the way, I think the region restrictions on the new contract system will kill it. Make AT LEAST the search span the entirety of EVE (preferably it all). Having everything regionalised will simply mean that even more people will go to Jita :-/
Ok, that out of the way, comments on auctions. I think they have great potential, but there are some things that needs to be changed. 1. We need to know the exact time when the auction ends. At the moment it doesn't even show a reliable time (sometimes saying 1 day, and then later saying 2 before going back to 1). It is so utterly fustrating to either accept being beaten, or have to monitor it for 24 hours :-/ 2. When the exact time is known, there'll be a need for a sniper rule (i.e. bids are accepted for 1/2 hour or so after last bid). 3. It would be VERY nice with a feature like on Ebay where you can put in the maximum you want to bid, and you then autobid if someone outbids you, but it's still below your maximum.
And some comments on contracts in general. 1. There need to be an option with item groups NOT to include when displaying search results. Currently, a LOT of the auctions are for BPC's, which are nice, but very annoying if that's not what your're looking for. 2. Searching on groups have to be implemented. For example I'm looking a lot at faction/officer items, but with the current system I'll have to look at ALL contracts available, or search on every single faction item type one-by-one. Not acceptable.
In general though, a good beginning, and a system I think hold a great deal of promise, but in it's current state it is not a good replacement for the old escrow system (even with all its faults).

It is definitely time consuming, but if you work in a gang and had higher salvage skills, you could probably salvage 5 wrecks within 30 seconds and then move onto the next batch. However, that requires the other memebers to kill battle ships that quickly, which is unlikely. Based on market average sell price (again, don't know if anyone actually is purchasing)
I jsut ran around the belts cleaning up wrecks. I couldn't use a tractor beam cause of the ownership thing (lame), but I liked the idea of it being a mini-profession. Problem is that it is too messy for those that don't want to bother with it and rigs are way too crucial unlike cosmos hacky/arch stuff which was just for special blueprints. ______________________________________________________ I forget which station container has my memory implants. |

I am not seeing anything in the notes about the rather annoying traffic advisory issues. for example this is currently going on:
Warped from Luminaire into Mies, go through Mies gate then sit with the same stargate for 5 minutes with no warnings.
Enter Mies warped in at 100,000km away from the Luminare gate. Think ok thats weird warp to gate to Oursulaert and get this message:
"**** left Mies *secs ago"
Stuck, can't do anything. Relog then I'm queued to enter the game.
Bloody annoying. How about the white flash between jumps?

The traffic advisory issues are a general problem that they certainly know about and probably have to do more with general 'optimizations' and server load than a specific bug that can be easily fixed. So they don't say anything about it. They also surely know about the white flash, cause everyone mentions it. Autopilot Jumping... And fleet commanders tagging for the whole fleet?
current the problem is if 3 people wish to tag durning a level 4 missions 1 person has to sit in the fleet commad and gets no bonuses as not all in the one squad, this is assumming you dont have the Fleet command skill of course.

You guys really need to do something about the new map system. Right now it¦s just clumsy, and it feels a little ad-hoc.
- Lag/load time makes the zooming far from "seamless". - The text labels just pop in. Not very pretty. - When entering the system map while warping, the worm hole grapics stays on the screen during the transition. - It would be nice to be able to zoom out to the system map for instance using ctrl+mouse wheel.

It seems that the moblie laboratory (pos labs) are broken. I've onlined one (after patch) at pos within 4 jumps from a npc station. It's impossible to install bpo's for research or anything else from corp hangars in npc station. Installation gets stuck at the: "Calculating Quote" Getting quote from installation" window. With that, I will need to relog as it's stuck. That was a waste of 90 millions :( Can it be looked into pls.

Surely the BPO has to be in the same system as the POS? Last time I checked you can't research things in a slot 4 jumps away from where your BPO is located... As far as I know the only exception is that you can do it from NPC stations in the same system as a POS.

Scientific networking allows for starting remote researching up to regional. I assumed that this could be done with pos labs as well.

So, let me get this straight...
A. Not only will the wrecks not be identified by has/does not have loot, they won't even be automatically set to 'inspected' if someone actually inspects them? Do we have to manually do that too? And how is that any different from having to tag them?
Or...
B. Is that in addition to an automatic "set as inspected" when we open them, so that we can relinquish criminal flag rights even without being in range to actually inspect them?
If it's A, thanks for nothing, if it's B well nice but not really of much use.
Is there any intention to mark wrecks based on content of loot or lack thereof, or are we looking at a permanent looting nerf? ________________

If this means what I think it does, then thanks for nothing (as an above poster said).
I did a lvl 4 mission yesterday, killed around 50 ships, and around 5 of them yielded (crappy) loot. Before, I had only to go to the 5 cans and see what was in there, but now I have to visit all 50.
You gave us tractor beams so we could loot faster, and now you take that ability away again. Real nice you're consistent... NOT!
You may not realise this, but the excitement of sometimes finding good loot in missions is a LOT of what keep people doing them. The missions themselves are the same over and over and over and over again, with the only variable part being that just sometimes you find that good item. Now, you're replacing that with a long row of disappointments.
Not your best idea this one I think..... Mark the bloody wreck according to whether there is loot inside it or not. The 'toggle' thing can be done with tags anyway, so you're not adding anything new anyway.
Edit: Alternately, make every wreck contain SOMETHING. Reduce the bounties and put items in instead or something. Just make it worth people while to go to them.

I don't understand the resistance to combining the functionality of the old cans into the current wrecks. The act of looting needs to be addressed, and adding an option to tag an inspected wreck does not resolve the issue at hand.
My suggestion for resolving the looting problem is to gi ve us a solid icon for wrecks containing loot, and keep the current icon for empty wrecks.
Any issues with salvagers and their issues with that profession are a seperate issue that should be considered seperatly. The looting problem was thrust upon the majority of players whereas any salvaging issues arise from players volunteering for the profession.

Astrometrics V for all probes got me ranting, when I tried with the test server and noticed the stepped requirements as one moved from probe to probe for fine tuning and better locating I kinda bit the bullet thinking it was reasonable. I am prepared to sit it out though and 'waste' skilltime if one can actually benefit from astrometrics V within frontier(0.5)regions. I think a better description of what one may find within the different security status systems is needed. I fear that I will have learned Astrometrics V only to have had my hopes dashed about making frontier exploration something like a viable asset for members of our corp who operate in Empire.

You know I'm glad you guys are making these mostly cosmetic fixes for people, but I hope to God that most of the dev team is working on the real issues, you know, the ones that are making this game unplayable for so many people. Please tell me that you are spending the majority of your resources trying to fix things like the multi-core/hyper threading problem. Take one dev, or group of Dev's and slap them silly. Better yet pay my flight to CCP offices and I'll do it for a small fee, approximately 8 UK pounds a month.
Will anything be done to fix the current borked system of mission running?
Main problems are:
Your "new and improved" system for wrecks still sucks. The main issues with the wrecks are:
All enemy ships drop them Most don't have loot You can't tag the wreck or know it was checked.
The above negatively impacts mission runners enjoyment of the game.
The new griefing tactics recently added by the new "yes I have 3 braincells but can still use a scanner" update are probably worse.
So the combined looting/wreck issue was one problem, increasing the time per mission and the chances of some muppet finding you in 10 seconds. This has driven people out of low sec which is the complete opposite you were trying to do.
Now in high sec we have reduced reward, plus the chance of being griefed by anyone with a couple of days training. This equals, failed missions, lowered standings, lowered income and frustration.
You guys must work by this checklist:
-Reduce mission rewards even though mission difficulty is the same in high sec - Check -Nerf bat loyalty point system - Check
Rev 1 patch:
-Add lots of wrecks without thinking of consequences to further reduce rewards and annoy players - Check -Add simplified, yet Uber scanning system - Check -Allow people to go out of their way to grief player, destroying their enjoyment of the game - Check
Rev 2 Patch:
-Remove agent missions
Give us a break.

Can't CCP realize that that loot system is an enormous error ? They should think about one question : what would be the worse ? Having 1/2 mission runners on eve leaving the game or just set back the good ol' cans ( wich were , imho perfect or near perfects )
Why not set wrecks life time on 20 min and spawn cans in addition of wrecks when there is loot ? it should not harm that much the server , at least , less than wrecks wich stays while the runner check them all ( >1h sometimes )
( Sorry for my poor english , you know , i'm a Gallente )

We are discussing a system to show whether a wreck contains a lootable item/can be salvaged, does not contain a lootable item/can be salvaged and does not contain a lootable item/cannot be salvaged (the wreck disappears). Unfortunately, we cannot include such a change in tomorrow's patch and ask for the community's patience until we can add such a system in the very near future.

The most logical solution is not only to make them different ICONS, but to make them different ITEMS on the overview. So I could just switch the 'empty wreck' item to not show on the overview anymore, e voila, looting almost back to normal. I don't see what the big fuzz is, surely if the differenciation between inspected and uninspected wrecks is already in it can't be such a big deal to make full and empty wrecks different items. --------- ZOMG my sig was concordokkened! That's easy:
- If the ship has loot => drop a can with a loot, otherwise don't - If the ship can be salvaged => drop a wreck that can be salvaged, otherwise don't
Even though this might create 2 objects in some instances, I reckon the total number of objects created for the mission will be less then it currently is.
Also that would automagically solve the following problems: - The loot window would auto-close when the loot is removed. - The salvager wouldn't have to loot the wreck before salvaging.

I mean didn't i read a thread somewhere here that said they wanted to see ships become wrecks when destroyed as apposed to the unrealistic j-can...
any ways overall i see that these will make the revelations patch they way the devs originaly wanted if not close to it. until then i'll sit tight...it's only a day away...

Regarding wrecks and loot/no loot icons, the information that I have been given says the system is more complex than a simple database call on whether the wreck has loot or not and applying the appropriate icon, although it may seem to be that easy on the surface. This is similar to the request to change the color of a BPo and BPc, the code does not lend itself to a change of this sort easily.
The issue has been discussed and something closer to the old loot can/no loot can will be added after tomorrow's patch.

Salvage a wreck, recover minerals!
Screw this busted crap. What about the minerals?
Loot is good, and if you want to make up some BS to rationalize rigs, fine, but don't call it salvage!
When a ship blows up in real life, salvage means recover the iron, brass, aluminum, etc.
In Eve we are supposed to believe that salvage means collecting busted crap? Come on, suspend my disbelief a little.
OK, make it a skill you have to learn, I am OK with that, but make a salvager's reward minerals that can be sold.
Who is deciding this stuff? Maybe spend a little less trying to sell a card game and fix the game you almost have finished!

And sober up the GM's while you're at it. Bad enough the Dev's are drinking from sun-up to, uh, sun-up.
Furious that these lunkheads JUST DON'T GET IT!
lol?
In case you had not noticed, you can sell the items you salvage for VERY high prices in all the major trade hubs.
They are an essential ingredient in the manufacturing of rigs.

Noticed the following in the patch notes:
You can now leave your ship while docked, resulting in you appearing in the station in a pod and your ship in your shipbay.
I predict the first patch post to be:
I undoced in my pod by mistaken and lost my +5s, I QUIT EVE
anyway, CCP. good luck with the patch. but plz for the love of us PVPers, FIX THE LAG NOW!11111 |

Kieron,
i know some of this has been mentioned already, however..
-please, as a 3yr old player in January.. the current wreck fiasco is a huge game breaker for alot of casual mission runners, as well as the community at large. many players with limted playing time simply do not wish to spend half of their game time opening empty loot drops, let alone keep track of them no matter if they are flagged or not. (we need vanishing loot cans -and return the ability to scan the loot with a cargo scanner.
I've almost completely stopped looting because of this. all i do now is drop a bm to my loot field at my station and post in local "anyone w/the patience to loot, there is a BM at station xxx. -saddening
as has been posted.. alot of us, (esp my g/f) love the surprise of opening a loot can to see whats inside more than anything.. -on top of that, many mission runners are coming back to loot the other levels only to find some plebeian has probed his way to our loot field and is cherry picking what is usually a half empty loot field to begin with. -this can be excepted to a *small degree* in low sec, but now in high sec too?
you can't imagine the frustration this has produced.
i know much of this has been posted already. but you can see how the current wreck situation has really damped alot of the fun many of us derive from Eve-Online. -esp the mission crowd.
closing out: i applaud your listening to the community concerns on this matter. it truly is a huge game breaker for many of us.
as you said, if you can patch in something closer to the old system, or a hybrid system, in a timely manner, while still allowing the salvage content to thrive, you'll have maintained the faith many of us have in CCP's outstanding dev/community relationship and as a company on the whole.
you've never let us down in the past in this regard. no need to let this tarnish your great record now. (not to mention fouling up your Carma wheel to no end). ;p
of course, it would bode well to let us try your new system before it goes live. we all would hate for this to go on one day longer than needed due to a newly fixed system that turns out not to still not fix the problems at hand.
i would gladly volunteer any amount of time my health permits to help find amicable solution.
many thanks for your timely responses to this matter and an otherwise outstanding patch and deployment.
-ank
(ps, my g/f asks that you return the loot drops to their former 100% level on those npc's that always dropped loot in the past. -she would be ever greatfull. -duffy)

A clue for the clu... given the time and effort required to salvage enough of that "busted crap" to make just one rig, you can rest assured 1 comp will sell as much if not 5x-10x more as one unit of morphite once the rig industry takes off.

Bah! Apparently I'm the only person who thinks the current wrecks system is a-ok. EVE should reward interactive multi-person plays, not solo plays.
At least the wrecks in their current state made up a little for the dumbed down travel & scanning. Hopefully escalating content will add some excitement back into EVE.

Even though this might create 2 objects in some instances, I reckon the total number of objects created for the mission will be less then it currently is.
Also that would automagically solve the following problems: - The loot window would auto-close when the loot is removed. - The salvager wouldn't have to loot the wreck before salvaging.
This sounds like a fine idea to me, it seems to solve all problems. When looting, you can turn off wrecks in the overview to avoid clutter and pure-looting goes back to pre-Revelations. Salvagers can turn on wrecks in the overview and go nuts with them.

Not to mention the fact that the CCP Framework Crash at login is being swept underneath the rug for some mysterious reason. I've said it many times before and I guess I'll say it again Kieron. There are many people that can't login to the game, not even to the character select area.
Maybe it's because the fact that I'm posting with a Trial account (even though I use to be a paying customer) that you're not seeing this problem. But I assure you, trial accounts with paying accounts, are having the same problem. I still see no mention of a possible fix, or even an explicit statement saying that you guys know there's an issue.
I love this game, I want to play this game. I have friends playing it right now. And I can't even login to my trial account to check out the new updates before I resubbed. Thank god I was smart and didn't instantly Resub.

I want to tank to kieron to actualy listening to us and replying to us and working with us. Thank you.
I want to add 2 things on list of improvments needed:
-Please make it possible to salvage wreck that has not been looted. People cant pick up all Cap booster 800. This results in jetisoning the **** in space. And because you can jettison only once per 3 minutes it slows down the salvaging a lot. And also makes the 5km range useless because you need to get to 1500m anyway.
-Please add some useful bonus on Survey skill because many people trained useless Survey 5 for Salvaging. It could be 5% faster salvaging cycle per level or even further increase chance of successfull salvaging by 5% per level.

All of this talk about the mess with Wrecks is great and I totally agree with y'all.
BUT - I'm still waiting for word from somebody about the BUG REPORT and PETITION I filed on Wednesday, Nov. 29th, reporting that I can't see any NPC's on my overview. I have my overview settings set to display EVERYTHING....but I can't see any NPC ships - not Concord, not Pirates, not rogue drones...nothing. I can't run combat missions because I can't target shi*t.
Is it really too much to ask for the overview to work? Is it really too much to expect that a petition get answered in a reaonable period of time?

True. It should reward "interactive multi-person plays".
Currently it is punishing "solo plays" and it is easy (for me) to understand why people dislike that.
In my opinion that is wrong as EVE has always been a game where everything is optional, not mandatory.

It seems the devs are trying to resolve the login problems (that i don't have myselfe btw), have a look at this thread if you have problems. http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=436735&page=3
There are some comments about the lag as well.
I wish they would post that stuff in the 'EvE Information Portal' where it belongs, it's very hard to find info if they don't.

Unfortunately, we cannot include such a change in tomorrow's patch and ask for the community's patience until we can add such a system in the very near future.

Agreed ! Like I wrote earier : Fun would be cans for loot and wreck for salvagers. Fun would be loot automatically moved into cargohold if can within 5km, just like salvage does. Fun would be Salvage not being chance based anymore.
Bring back the cans (and missioning fun) Tuesday.

in relation to the lag problem I want to give a little informationt hat I hope can be useful: I often play with 2 character, currentrly one is in Gallente space, the other in Minmatar. In the last 2 days the lag was very noticeable in Minmatar space (the number or peoples present in the system seem almost indifferent) wile lower or absent in Gallente space. That was at the same time, with both accounts active, so it is not dependant from the timeframe of play. Even this morning, between 6.30-7.30 EVE time, with only 15.000 or so people playng, there was a noticeable lag in Minmatar space.

As I see it the whole salvaging and rigs idea is a death birth, because the material requirements for rigs are, well, insanely high. It is pointless to salvage.
1. Lower the material requirements or remove that entirely from the game. 300 items for (for example) 30% passive hardener is absurd. Given a salvaging time of 10 sec per item (25% chance @ 4 salvagers) - which seems very low to me - this is still 3000 seconds (50 minutes!) of salvaging. Lower the requirements to a third of what they are now or salvaging will be a source of frustration for most of the population only.
2. Increase the npc spawn rate HEAVILY. Even in sparsely populated low sec systems you need hours atm to get a few spawns.
3. Give us back loot containers in addition to wrecks. Immersion 4tw but not at the price of usability.

Hi Kieron
Thanks for listening and acting fast on the wreck situation.
However, that is only one of the issues that is plagueing mission runners. The other is (IMHO) far more serious, and is the ease with which a mission runner can be scanned down. This will be much worse after todays patch when the recon probe launchers are seeded.
The ease of doing this opens itself to a huge amount of grief play, all with no real possibility of getting back at the griefer. These are ALREADY happening, and will get far worse when recon launchers are introduced.
A. Griefer steals best kills (gets ownership of best loot) B. Griefer steals mission critical kills (gets ownership of mission critical loot) C. Griefer pops all wrecks (don't know if this flags him, but even if it does, when you attack him his corp mates swoop in and kills your mission ship). D. Griefer steals best loot. This flags him as a thief, but if you attack him his corp mates swoop in and kills your mission ship. E. Griefer aggro's whole spawn, and if you don't warp out in time (optimal time is to do it when you have scrambling frigs around you), you die. Griefer picks up your stuff.
Please note that this is ALREADY happening. Personally I've though about switching from mission running to this since it'll probably pay WAY better (faction/officer loot drop from mission runners is WAY better than for any NPC).

I wouldn't go quite that far, but I would make only war targets scannable in empire (or something like that). In addition, deadspace accel gates and items within deadspace/mission pockets in empire should not be scannable.
There is also a problem for low-sec mission runners, but since they're suicidal anyway, it's not my problem

@Devs
Can we have a word on that please? At the moment I will NOT (!) run missions because losing faction standings to high sec griefers is not to my liking. If this is not fixed I guess a lot of dedicated mission runners will have to reconsider playing this game.

Again wrecks and salvage: Please give us a straight answer, as it can save a lot of time to a lot of people: so far the only wrecks giving salvage have been the pirate factions ones and, of those, only the ships it is possible to find in belts (and PC ships wrecks, of course). So no navy ship, no named NPC, no mercenary, no mordu, no structure, ecc. have given salvage. It is a deliberate choice, a bug, or it is required a specific level (4+) of the salvage skill? As some of us are returnig to the battle sites to salvage, it will be usueful to know if it is worth it. By a role playng point of view I find hard to justify getting salvage only for a restricted % of the ships, even if I can accept that it is probably done to control the drop rate and avoid making the salvaged parts too common.

Again, I wouldn't go that far
Certainly there are some issues with Revelations atm, but I'm fairly certain that CCP are working flat out to solve them. It's always been this way with new expansions, and it takes a bit of time to solve them.
Apart from the oft-mentioned problems with some wrecks not being salvagable and the looting issue, I LIKE the rigs and wrecks concept. The materials requirements for the rigs are ridiculous though, but I sincerely hope that they are as they are because CCP has pre-nerfed them. Rigs should not be reserved for rich players.
The scanning also needed to be changed for 0.0/low-sec battles, but it has serious (probably unintended) consequences for high-sec/low-sec mission runners.
The new contracts system needs some serious work, but I think it has great potential. The region limit needs to be scrapped (unless CCP really WANTS more people in Jita), and more search limiting options added, but apart from that it looks fine.
The new map is also fine, but FFS (pardon my french) make it possible to COMPLETELY turn the zooming effect OFF. It looks fine the first and MAYBE the second time you do it, but after that it is annoying as (4-letter word).
Invention looks like it is too difficult and expensive for too little gain. Hope this is because it is pre-nerfed too.

It might look pretty, but it's hardly fine. With the window stretched to take up my whole screen I can fit maybe 16 or so entries at once, so I wind up with a scrollbar AND multiple pages. No sorting, no indication of how many total pages there are or which one I'm currently viewing.
And what good is the multiple-region search everybody wants if you have to fly there just to make a bid/purchase? I'm not going to make 20 jumps to place a bid at the start of a 7 day auction, nor even near the end if all I have to go on is "Less than a day!" Reasonable buyouts could make up for this a little, but a brief look at the actual contracts up on offer shows that most people don't seem to have a firm enough grasp of economics or auction mechanics to make it happen, and the same has held true in other games with auction systems. Given that, even the "everybody move to Jita to buy/sell!" option is out. |

"Thus spoke the griefer".
What you're NOT considering is that not all players CONSIDER EVE to be a PVP game. There are a lot of empire dwellers who have no interest in the PVP side, but simply want to have a little fun on their own or with a group of friends.
These players provide just as valuable income to CCP as the PVP'ers do, but are constantly picked upon by the PVP'ers. There are probably more of them than there are PVP'ers though, so it'd bee foolish for CCP to disregard their playstyle. Chase them away, and there'll be so much less money to pay wages, develop new stuff, add new servers etc. Even if their play-style is not yours, theirs is just as valid as yours!!!!! They should not be forced to play EVE 'your way', since that'll only make them find another game.
EVE has up until now had a good balance in that people could be (mostly) safe from attack and harrassment in safe empire, while the ones who wanted PVP had 0.4 and below as their playground. This catered well for both player groups, but that balance has now been destroyed. In reality, missions are the thing 90% of empire dwellers do. Some do research, mining and/or manufacturing, but most do missions. Missions in safe empire has now been blown wide open to grief play, which is really in nobody's interest (least of all CCP) except the griefers.
NOTE: I have both empire and 0.0 characters. The 0.0 ones gets used most, since I LIKE PVP. However, I firmly believe that more players in EVE of ANY kind, makes it a better game. Thus I don't join the usual PVP'er moans about 'chasing all carebears out in 0.0 so we can pewpew them'! Forcing players to play a game in a way they don't like will not make them do it. It'll just make them quit.

All the points you're making are correct, but that the system has some issues NOW doesn't change the fact that it does have the potential to be very good. It isn't really useful at the moment, but if CCP listen to the comments made about it and implement changes, it can end up way above the old escrow system in usability.

QFT. My first thought on seeing the contracts system was "very pretty but totally unfit for purpose". Escrow had its faults but at least you could look at and easily scroll through a high-density list of what's out there. All the pretty bits just waste screen space and make using it a total PITA.

At least the wrecks in their current state made up a little for the dumbed down travel & scanning. Hopefully escalating content will add some excitement back into EVE.
Hear ye, hear ye... At first I didn't like it, but the more I think about it, the more I like it. The new system rewards multiplayer interactive play, and it rewards the patient. Seems to me that people whine because now they have to work for the reward... --- Jock Feegle CEO Games And Theory

Well said Cyclops... EVE Needs all kinds, including high-sec griefers. At the very least, killing a rat in a mission belonging to another player should at the very least give the missionowner aggro, so that they could blow the griefer out of space... --- Jock Feegle CEO Games And Theory

On a completely different subject, PLEASE FIX THE SAILA SYSTEM. Jump queues into the system are insane. Sometimes you wait at #22 (or whatever) for 15+ minutes before getting in.
Or even consider this ....
Griefer got skill to fly Capships (Dread, Carrier or Titan) and got gang with support skill CyroField Griefer scans for parked cap ships Griefer takes over CapShip Griefer Steals Capship or even worse blows up assets of other corp/alliance with stolen ship
Hope those guys owning them are capable to live without sleep - specially when they be the only ones being able to fly them.

Sounds like this is a 0.0 specific issue, in which case I'd have to say it's a calculated risk... in 0.0 there's no such thing as a safe spot... But I can see how the affected corp would be VERY agitated about this yes ;) --- Jock Feegle CEO Games And Theory

If someone is stupid enough to eject from his ship ANYWHERE in space (park it as you say), they bloody well deserve to get it stolen!!!

Hmmm, first of all, the aggro thing will not work. If implemented this way, the number of mission griefers will grow by a factor of 10. It's the same as with can stealing really. You only steal from a miners can if you know you can get away with it, in most cases when you're sure you can kill the miner. I'm fairly sure the same would happen here. Not to mention that as soon as you attack the thief, his corp mates can attack YOU.
Secondly, I don't really agree that EVE needs griefers. A grief player by my definition is someone who is not out to win against another player, but is out to ruin another players gaming experience. The mission runner is playing EVE in PvE mode. That is what he expects, has been used to until now, and is what he is paying for. The griefer is out to ruin this, thus possibly chasing the PvE'er away from the game.
The PvE'er has just as much right to not be forced to do PvP, as the PvP'er has the right not to be forced to do PvE.
No PvE'ers are arguing that PvP'ers should be forced to mine 50% or their time. Why can't the PvP'ers shut up about forcing the PvE'ers to do PvP.
As before said:

Note: I do both PvE and (a lot of) PvP, and enjoy both.

Hey guys,
Just want to see a few things fixed ASAP.
1). The drone bug! This has been going on for ages now, and is bloody annoying. IS it really that difficult to stop NPC rats targetting drones for no good reason?!
2). I'm not going to bang on about the wrecks. I think we all know the genral mood on that one.
3) When are we gonna get cap booster 2s? They've been floating around on Singularity for ages now, and I'm getting sick of my well worn T1 one.
That's all, nothing too complex.

I don't think that's what they are saying (hopefully).
After the last patch drones tend to: a. ignore specific orders to attack and pick their own targets b. while still attacking the designated target, decide to leave it and attack something else
Hopefully these are the things being changed/fixed ________________

If you are referring to the fact that when you use drones, inactive NPC groups close to them will aggro them, then it's not a bug, it's a feature.
And as a heavy drone user, level 4 mission runner I say leave it there. Missions are non-challenging enough as it is.
The solutiuon is to just be careful of what your drones do and how close inactive NPCs are. Hopefully they will sort the drone bugs about drones randomly attacking so that will not be so difficult to do. Just don't use the drones if they will end up operating within 30 km or so of inactive NPC.
If that's not whan you are talking about, please elaborate. ________________

Can somebody give me a clear answer to this (okay could test after the patch but still): "New programming has been added to drones. They will no longer attempt to become self-aware and will not pick random targets on their own."
Does this mean drones wont attack anything on their own and in case primary (issued) target destroyed will they idle? Does this mean if I'm attacked and loose a lock (jammed) they won't fire back?
In my opinion the preffered way (I hope it will be like this) would be that drones dont switch target untill its destroyed but afterwards if no new target is given they choose themselves..
