Or in all your experience have you never worked on a multi-cluster sized database with hundreds of users for permissions and stored sequences that cant be modified to prevent too much "user access" to the databases?
Its ok, it seems like all the paranoid skitzos that are trying to muddle CCP seem to forget evidence and facts along the way.
As far as I can tell we have been provided with barely no evidence, and that all was ok because IA looked at it and found no problem. So between the <allegations> and <investigation> there is a huuuuge void, which should have a bridge called trust across it. Unfortunately that bridge was torn down some time ago and has been slowly deteriorating. Thus, people will fill the void with whatever they can think of, be it right or wrong. And maybe eventually there will be such an amount of junk filling that void that it will be impossible to cross from one place to another.

No flame but if you dont trust CCP IA then you should probably leave the game, at a certain point you need to feel that the company you buy from (And you buy the game monthly) is a company you can trust, if you can't feel a minimal level of trust then there really no way you can enjoy the product you buy, from that point on you are wasting the money your paying for the company.

How having a direct line to the "gods of the game" or the referees is not seen as a major conflict of interest is amazing to me...
Picture if you will a soccer (football game). . Two teams on the field battling it out for the world cup championships. The score is 2 to 2, 10 minutes left. Coach A gets on his walkie talkie and starts chatting with the referee currently on the field refereeing the game! Coach B looks for his walkie talkie and finds none!
Would anyone accept "hey man...coach A and that referee are just buddies--theyre talking about stuff unrelated to the game". The fact that they are friends is irrelevant, the fact that they "say" theyre talking about things unrelated to the game is irrelevant. The perception is !! yes PERCEPTION IS! that one team is getting an unfair advantage over another.
Now we have our little game, we have a past record of bad behavior between Coach A and the Referee...theyve been caught breaking the rules before. We fast forward and we have Coach A declaring to the entire stadium "YES IM TALKING TO THAT REFEREE OUT THERE ON THE FIELD-STOP WHINING YOU ARE JUST JEALOUS OF US"...

Good point- that's why I'm leaving if all we get is questionably accurate excuses from Kieron. We're smart enough that the half-truths aren't going to cut it, and investigating within the system you have now is not enough.

I'm more interested in WHAT actually happened to the petition. So fine, maybe it wasn't deleted from the database. It just went the way of all the ignored petitions I've had in the past (all 2 of them). What way is that?

funny....CCP is willing to kill the game to protect the few friends they have in BOB..........fine , i think im done playing , its absurd for me to pay for something others get for free from the devs and GM"s , so far BOB and friends have tried to railroad , squash , cover , muddle ,deface , smack ,intimidate and ignore everything that has been posted so far.and the thing that burns me up more than anything , CCP is not only allowing it , they are sheltering and providing information to the parties involved.........i got 3 more weeks of play , if this gets swept under the bulging rug , i will consider this MMo a dead-end game......... sincerely ALOIS HAMMER

Stop smacking each other and playing **** games, there is a serious issue that needs addressing.
Hope Arkanon still reads the thread...
Arkanon:
It seems (according to story so far) that player in a corp can petition something corp related, have GM come and "do his job", and have noone else in the corp have any idea what the petition was about or what the GM was doing?
So, if player chooses to keep quiet about petitioning anything, noone except player and CCP will ever know? Even the CEO of the corp?
Can you confirm that it is, indeed, the case? Or there are ways for CEO (other than MSN) to find out what the corp-related petition was about?
If this is the case, it means any corp member could petition POS issue, or BPO locking issues or whatever else - and corp itself might never find out who petitioned it or why. As it stands now, this is what is happening with DS1.
I could care less about DS1 or anyone else - I care about such a major flaw in game mechanics. That corp CEO can't find out who petitions in regards to corp assets?

He did not spawn them, he made changes so that he would have a higher chance of getting BPOs in the lottery. Big difference.
You're still defending t20 and BoB for the admitted and proven cheating? Why?
A player in BoB cheated, who was subsequently removed from bob. How does that mean all of bob cheated? The only way I could see people equating all of bob cheating to one guy cheating is they are angry they cant beat them in pvp thus have to make excuses for why they failed at eve.
Meanwhile most of goonswarm DID cheat using client portrait hacks, but of course, that doesnt matter to anyone right?

That was the T20 incident, I believe they are now referring to the Reahkan incident, an ISD reporter accused of bumping dreads during a seige operation that he didn't actually do. He was abused in local by a BoB pilot who thought it was Ok to badmouth a CCP volunteer and told him to leave the system. Reahkan was currently 70 odd km from the dreads observing. When he said that he wasn;t going to leave the system someone in the BoB fleet used MSN to contact CCP directly, who then gained access to the ISD irc channel and accused him there. Next day said ISD reporters accounts were all disabled/deleted with no explanation what-so-ever and CCP wpuld not respond to any communications requesting an explanation. It was like the incedent never actually occurred and the volunteer who had 1.5years service never existed. ........

I never was a corp CEO nor ever needed to find out details about corp related petitions, but if I was a CEO and CCP would tell me I can't know who from my corp petitioned my POS, for example... perfect for conspiracy theories.

Yes, it is indeed a different thing. What exactly is your disadvantage in that case, that you are maybe scared by the picture?
To have a Dev on a special line to call him in to solve things for me or provide intelligence is indeed a different case.

If, as I think we can all agree Sharkbait was doing legitmate business within DS1.
Given the current mistrust of CCP and the very high concerns over CCP employees relationships with BoB since the T20 affair, Do you not agree it was crass stupidity of the highest order for a CCP employee to appoint himself a director of a corps currently at war with BoB, without letting the CEO of that corps what was happening.
Even more do you agree it was bordering on negligent to "LOSE" the petition asking why the DEV had appointed himself director(wether deleted or closed without a response) when it must have been apparent to even the biggest dullard that doing so would create this situation.
In retrospect can we agree that this was handled with a degree of care that we wouldnt expect from a 5 year old much less professionals running a highly succesful MMPORG
I think this is something that CCP doesn't seem to understand, from how they have reacted to this whole mess. Previous events have wrecked CCP's reputation of being something we can blindly trust.
They have admitted that devs do, in some cases, do things that are against the interest of players, and in the interest of their friends within the game. The fact that T20 is still in their employ gives the message that devs doing wrong is allowed. They left pandora's box open so to speak.
So how do you close the box? Well not by assuming you still have the complete trust of your players. Not by saying "trust us". Trust, i'm afraid, is alot more fragile than that. CCP are going to have to change the way they approach the player base, be alot more open when doing things that affect players, esp. the larger alliances and those entities within the game that will feel they have a reputation to lose.
It might be time to look at these "non disclosure under any circumstances" policies... even state secrets are release to the public given enough time.
In this case, we've been given a number. CCP's entire claim is, there was a petition, and thats what its all about... now as i'm not a dev, and not the person who filed the petition, i have no way of knowing if this petition is there, or what it is regarding. Not the most helpful of numbers is it? so we're back to where we were before this announcement, do we trust ccp not to be doing another T20? (my point is, the communication is not helpful, and will make things worse for some people)
Originally by: Merc998 Kieron. In retrospect can we agree that this was handled with a degree of care that we wouldnt expect from a 5 year old much less professionals running a highly succesful MMPORG
Yup, aha, /me nods fervently.
CCP are going to have to step their game. In the current climate, errors and miscommunication are going to cause horrendous fallout. Afterall, EvE survives by having a reputation of being a decent game. How long will it last with more and more of these issues hitting the news? (thats not eve-o news either, thats games industry wide )
As for "is it true"... i have no idea, neither side has put forward alot of proof, both sides are saying oppersite things, and both sides seem to have something to gain... I just know this is another case that has left an extremely sour taste in my mouth.

On a holiday weekend?? Oh please.. nothing will make the mob happy now after Goonswarm got that mob mentality ball rolling. I for one would like the thank CCP for doing a great job on this drama bomb. Im happy to hear the good news on these so called problems and ZOMG conspiracy getting straightened out. Keep up the good work and if any of the other problems turn out to be true.. please do take the correct course of action.. swift and just.
They honor American war dead in Iceland on this day?? The timing conspiracy stuff is amusing...
1st it was a normal weekend for everyone. 2nd, yes I do believe they have an office in america now do they not? As for if they get time off for it I wouldnt know.

It's a holiday over here too, and this isn't America by any stretch of the mind.

I am seriously concerned if a small corp would have had the chance to get an answer from CCP in a similiar case. If that not happend to the Goons. I never heared something good about them exactly like not from BoB but i am gracefull now that they brought it to light. If i consider the first actions of CCP in this case to delete and lock the threads, ban the posters, take down the forum, i heared about 120 people were banned in game without explaination.
Pretty much North Korea politics here at CCCP.

Rofl. I have petitioned someone for offensive name, and provided all the info (name is not in English, but is very offensive to native speakers of that language).
Petition basically timed-out and closed itself, after GM didn't respond for more than a month.
Uhm, it was a BoB member I've petitioned, so that might explain it...

No, it's a public holiday in a large number of countries, including the Iceland (and the UK too), just because the USA calls it Memorial Day doesn't mean other countries can't also have a different holiday on the same weekend.
I believe the name it goes by in most places is Whitsunday/Whit Monday.

It's quite simple - CCP must not let their staff play the game. Until they make this happen they will always be subject to suspicion whether justified or not.

Well, he did lie.

Hope you have major POS issues in the near future and a weird silence from CCP regarding your petitions.
Thanks, we've had more than our fair share of that already. Unlike you, we only get that stuff fixed long after it matters.

And lastly, Toffles, can I have your stuff?

Hey, when you've failed just stick to what you know best, flaming. I fly a phoenix for the record, noobie.
