Unable to mate up chat windows. You can separate them ok, cannot mate them back up.
Opinions reflected on my posts are just that, my opinions. They do not reflect views held by my corp or alliance. |

Originally by: Miter Forcing gaming data onto the C: drive messes up 3 classes of your players:
1) People who wish to keep only OS files on drive C and keep all data on another drive.
2) People who run more than one account from their machine, which will now apparently write to the same files, mixing things up, with unknown results if two clients running at once write to the same file.
3) People who try to keep the cache directory on a RAM disk for extra speed.
So, please, take the person who made the decision to comply with some stupid Microsoft guidelines out behind the shed and beat them with a leather strap. Then, give us the option of keeping all data where it previously lived -- the /LUA:OFF switch as I understand it only keeps the Settings in the original place, not the rest of the cached data.
Thank you.
My personal issue with this is that I run the game on a company laptop, and my MyDocuments folder gets archived to the server every night. And then the server gets archived to tape drive.
This will increase my logoff time when I leave work every day as the extra data gets copied and compared. It will also leave interesting chat logs et al on about a dozen different tapes for six months.
Look, I do know that running this on a company laptop isn't exactly private to start with, and it's easy to discover that I run Eve on my system, but I don't like having these kind of choices removed by default. |

From the other thread:
Good job on the moving of data :-)
- Users of sisi, will have to delete the data that the test patch moved in order for the tq client to start moving its data. - Market logs doesn't get moved. - cache/Browser/bookmarkSites.txt, ignoredSites.txt and trustedSites.txt files are not moved - The prefs.ini file is not moved to its new location - XP gives this error when starting the client: 'Please run EVE with administrator rights to complete data migration.' although I am running as an admin user. - Finally the logs, capture and cache directories are not removed.
Also I'm curious as to how annoying it becomes to have the sisi, multi and tq clients share the same prefs.ini file.
Also missing from the patch notes: - EW Drone riggy has had its market slot removed
----- http://games.chruker.dk/eve_online ----- Top wishes: - No daily downtime - Faster training on sisi - Updated data export - Speedup IGB table rendering |

Nice job getting it done several hours ahead of time. Better to claim needing 24 hours and getting it done in 20 than the other way around I'd say.
However I am quite disapoined in the my documents shuffle. If there was one CCP had done correctly with the client, it was that it kept all its stuff at one place not cluttering up random directories like all to many widows applications. But that was before... Someone just crawled even further up Microsofts... well you know the rest.
I haven't downloaded the patch yet as my internet connection is down and I'm using a GPRS-connection as backup. But I am keeping my fingers crossed someone confirms a workaround for the file-cluttering before my connection comes back.

Before the patch I had lots of screenshots in .png format and 2 in .bmp. After the migration, I only have those 2 (two) .bmp images in the /My Documents/EVE/capture/Screenshots. Are the others lost for good, or are they in some place I don't know?

When do I get my check for Beta testing again?
still waiting on this, as well as how to shut off the eve music while I sit in the queue to login. I would like to watch a vid or two while I am waiting and the music is driving me bananas.

Originally by: Jonas Vinthyn For all the reasons everyones complaining is the reason I'm happy they moved things to the My Docs. When I backup my PC I only backup the My Docs folder because thats the only stuff not easily replaceable. EVE I can redownload, other programs reinstall from downloads or CD's. MY data though, chat logs, captures, that stuff I'm not getting anywhere else. I try to set everything up on my PC to save to the My Docs then I just have one thing to backup....it makes perfect sense they wen't this way and I wish they did it earlier.
-Jonas.
If it works for you that is great. Not saying it shouldn't default to that behaviour, just saying that for a number of us we prefer the cache, screenies, game logs etc to stay in the game folders.
Case in point, I have a separate (faster) game drive and only have the OS and some personal documents on the C:\ drive (which is also rather full of applications). I want the game files on the faster roomier drive.
Also before this change I could copy the game directory from my home machine onto my laptop and it would just work. Now I have to go rooting through my documents folder too.
It isn't the end of the world but it is pretty damn annoying to give the option of where to install the game and then stick hundreds of megs of data elsewhere...

Deployment problems? Ok i have one.....
I waited 45mins to connect (not bothered, watched some tele, made some Jam)I entered my name (spelt correctly), entered my password (spelt correctly) I then got a message saying my username and/or password was wrong please re-connect. Yup you've guessed it, 5-6 hours til I can get on with the queue. Not bothered about that really cos im off to bed, just bothered about the fact the name was right, the password was right, it didnt seem to think so. I hope this isnt a bug to be worried about ----------------------------------------------- perhaps you confused me with someone who actually gives a funk?

the speed indicator is also jerky as speed changes.
This is the major problem I have with this patch. This and the fact that icons are about twice as wide as they used to be for modules means even less room for the overview.

OMG, is the queue gonna be this long after every downtime? Or is it just that everyone's cache folder is moving?
Also, what happens with running two copies of the eve folder for use with the test server? Will they share the same settings folder in My Docs? Will we also need a windows account for each one now?

only thing I would like to say: Please give us the choice where to store our cachefolder. The /lua:off command doesn't seem to work for all setting and basically i like to keep my os partition free from such **** (doesn't apply to eve only).

Ok.. for modules, it looks like it requires tags.. and alot of them. This sucks! (I can see the reasoning, but I'm still not happy about it )
When searching a corporation, then viewing its info... when you click on the (i) button to show info on the corporation's CEO, the window buggers out. Badly.
My opinion is my own, not of my corp or my alliance. If you have problems, we can have a "who can do L4 missions faster" duel >:) |

The interesting thing is that I was using the only account on my machine (this is Windows XP Home) and it does have administrator rights. After several tries the message disappeared. I am now using /end /LUA:OFF as well since I have two clients, perhaps that prevented it.
When the admin screen came up, did you scroll to bottom and then hit "Accept"? I got same screen with XP, scrolled and accepted and works.

I have two accounts running on the same client. After downloading and installing and waiting in que with my first account to load, which successfully connected. I waited in que for the 2nd account for 1.5 hours. After completing the que it said to hit connect, I did so and it told me my username and password was incorrect and placed me back into a 3 hour que. Just thought I would note this in case it's a problem for others.. As it stands now atleast I have one account loaded. |
