Yep, thats what I'm getting. As said though it's a recent development, so I'm guessing Tiscali have been rolling this feature out gradually. So I'll do what needs doing to get logged into the game till I can get myself switched to another ISP.

Same here as well. Odd that the only game that it seems to be effecting is EVE...
Only started earlier today as well. ___________

well peeps my only advice is a new isp, dont even try to sort it with the tiscali support team, phone them up tell them you want to end your contract, when they say why tell them there breaking the supply of goods act 1982. i highly recommend adsl 24. been with them for two weeks and its excellent, ú19.99 a month gets you 300gig off peak limit and 30gig on peak limit. and its a month to month contract if you dont like it all you have to do is give them thirty days notice and your internet gets transfered over on the day of activation so no down time. GOOD LUCK ONE AND ALL
and tiscali if you read this your a bunch of f**king W**kers who cant tell the diffrence between your a**e and your elbow.

After contacting Tiscali and via e-mial, they phoned me about the problem and they reckon that BT is closing the ports on my exchange at peak times (or something like that) and they will move me to another exchange in a couple of weeks.
Tiscali think this will solve the problem, anyone else had this experience, does it work, or am I being fobbed off any advice would be great thanks.

I would have thought that BT would do the same on all exchanges, if they move you too far your speed will suffer.
They have finally caught up with me now. Internet surfing is fine but Eve and P2P will not even think about connecting. I am running Your freedom, but its annoying that it disconnects every hour and you only get 18 hours a week. At least I can play though.
Only trouble is, that surely if you migrate, you are still on BT network, so if they are the ones putting the stops in, then every Isp will be the same unless you can go cable

Guys
Dont kid yourselves, i have had conversation after conversation and one screaming match with tiscali. moving you to another exchange wont solve the problem. They deny throttling ports and dont give a flyingf*** about gamers. I am changing isp but for the moment am connecting no problems tunneling through using a your freedom proxy server. It costs as little as 4 euros a month which is all the bandwidth you need for eve and everything else on tiscali works so i use it only for the eve clients.
I have written to tiscali`s ceo demanding a refund of my subscription as they a blantantly in breach of the supply of goods act 1982. When you speak to them demand your MAC code for a fast easy transistion to your new isp. 5 days and im on ASDL24. No restrictions on connections with ASDL24 so that should solve it. So good riddance to tiscali and i hope for their sake they are reading this thread as they will surely lose many people to this crap.
If you have issues with them the answer is simple - ditch them and get a new isp.

I'm pretty sure that the correct way to change is to get your MAC code BUT NOT cancel with Tiscali until you are up and running with your new ISP - this is to avoid a lot of the extra hassle and cost with starting up with someone else.
BTW, I'm looking at Fast.co.uk or Zen - anybody have anything to report on them?

PLEASE go back and READ my posts ive posted whats going on ! the exact problem its tiscali ! ive since moved to adsl24 and DOUBLED my speeds! no blocking or shaping that i can notice!
tiscali when you phone them dont know anything remember your getting trhough to a call center in god knows where and the people have scripts in front of them you say x and they tell you y, just go to cancelations and KEEP ON AND ON at them they arnt providing the full services AND most importantly ! they CAN NOT IN FUTURE provide a service ! this is important as they dont need to release you from your contract if the fix will happen in a month eg: a resonable amount of time BUT its NOT going to get fixed in a resonable amount of time infact i believe its simply there new traffic shaping system that they are rolling out to more and more customers dispite the rubbish they tell you

I switched to BT a couple of months back and have had zero problems since.....unless you count double the speed a problem.
Tiscali's problems were that they ran out of capacity. They tried a quick fix by buying up other isps and using their capacity but all they have done is increased their disaffected, disenfranchised user base.
Having said that however the broadband speeds in this country still sux generally because the telephony infrastructure is so outdated. Indeed the older your phone lines probably the better as they are copper and transmit data very well. The more modern cabling is actually aluminium which has a habit of crumbling away to dust and really conducts signals very badly in comparison. Until the UK decides to invest in its roads, railways, sewerage and data transmission networks it will continue to slip down into the realms of becoming a third world country.

I was with Zen before moving to Tiscali about eighteen months ago.
They're more expensive, but you get what you pay for.
I'm back with them from Thursday.

I currently have no service to eve at all, despite having checked that it all works through a different ISP an hour ago.
I've managed to download the patch fine. Tiscali are throttling no doubt about it. I have been meaning to switch for a while, so this gives me the motivation.

Two and a half year and no problems with eve (issues when changing speed but that was down to the techies being twits) and now they block it.
Not much i can to the thread tbh, only thing that hasn't been covered is if you arn't a fan of the cmd lines you can use ping plotter freeware version here to check your line, if someone asks for proof the full version will log it.

So the question is which ISP would you trust to play Eve? I'm UK based and want my phone through my ISP provider so the choices are limited without paying over the odds. Virgin? AOL? (uggh) Orange? BT? Eclipse? From the research I have done Talk-talk restricts MMO's too.

They said they will contact me within 72 hoursà. Great 3 more days no EVE

dont listen to them they arnt allowed to turn around and tell you they cant fix the problem ! if they said that to there customers just imagine the reaction! you have to make them tell you that there is nothing they can do in a resoanble amount of time im sure one day this pproblem may MAY ! be fixed but if you ask them there is no garrenty on when it will be fixed and this has been going on since bfore febuaray ! 3 more days wont mean JACK! apart from 3 more days of your time wasted remember it will take 1 week to move to your new isp if you get your mac code
