Tiscali are telling us that people are not giving any feed back.........did the 2 previous posters log their problem with the ongoing Eve sticky on Tiscali forums broadband support? They fixed mine btw.

Hi,
Apart from Starcop and Bagermushroom, I have not had any feedback from the persons in the list. I'll give it till Friday, and if I here no further from these names, I'll have to assume the issue is resolved (only for these people) and I'll close off their tickets.
For every one else (not on the list) I need the results back from the folks in the list to move this along for you. __________________ Regards

Hi all,
I've noticed the blocking time for eve (for me) has increased from 5pm to 11.30pm.
I didn't post on the tiscali forum, as i rang them, and the tech guy said 'it's tough, we can't help you', so I immediately signed up to the new ISP. So it's kind of too late for me.
I'm glad you have been sorted out though, but my experience with them has not been so good. To be honest, as soon as i found out they were port blocking any site i just thought it wasn't fair and honest so i had to leave them.
I'll repost if i see any changes with my tiscali connections to eve or if i get the same problems with my new ISP.

Keep pushing at them... Most of us that can will leave them, but make as much noise as you can while youre still there!
Let Tiscali know that we cant let ISP's behave this way!

RE: "I'll give it till Friday, and if I here no further from these names, I'll have to assume the issue is resolved (only for these people) and I'll close off their tickets"
Well there's your problem. The folks at tiscali know there is a problem, i know there is a problem, YOU know there is a problem, yet i love the way they are assuming its all fixed unless we keep repeatedly telling them there is STILL A PROBLEM.
all together now... THERE IS STILL A PROBLEM!
No doubt it's too difficult for them to search on google for 'eve online tiscali' it would tell them about the problems, including this thread.
Tiscali know there are people leaving them now due to this 'connection' (blocking) problem (i told them I was leaving because of it). And if they cared about there customers they'd just fix the WHOLE EVE TISCALI situation (ie stop traffic shaping/blocking the port) rather than just 'fixing it' for the people that are now numb from banging there heads on that brick wall. Why block eve anyway? it's not like it uses great bandwidth.
Perhaps tiscali should assume that those complaining here and on their forums, are just the tip of the iceberg, rather than chastising those people that have bothered to mention it.
BTW since my last post, I have had noticed no discernible change in the times when eve online is unplayable. Still approx 5pm-11pm(ish).
sigh... at least i got my MAC code from them on my second call to CS. only 5days til new ISP. i'll repost if i get the same problem with the new ISP, or if i'm angered further by any more of tiscali's so called 'service' comments.

Did you get round to telling the man about this on the Tiscali support forum Eve thread? I don't think it's unreasonable for him to ask for feedback, esp if he's trying to get it fixed. The fact they have run a specific thread on their support pages for a while now, shows they know there is something wrong , so why are you posting like it's a major scoop. By avoiding what has been put in place to try sort this issue , you have not helped. but left it to the rest of us who are trying to push it along. I will say again they have so far fixed mine , and I am giving feedback and results to them , hoping it can help sort other players problems.

hello, i have been having this problem with tiscali and logging onto eve online for nearly a week now, since i started playing eve. i have phoned every day about it,and everytime i get some different excuse as to why i cant log on during peak times.first it was a fault on the line, then it was BT fault, then it was something to do with being in the country..lol. but the best was today, first i was told that umlimited broadband doesnt mean unlimited data transfer but as i specificaly asked for umlimited as i play a lot on online games i checked my contract, and accourding to tiscali that means unlimited time online not data..strange.but the icing on the cake was when they put me thro to billing to query this,i was told that tiscali IS BLOCKING THE GAME AT PEAK TIMES!he fully admitted it,that they(tiscali) is blocking Eve online at peak times cos of bandwidth restrictions they put on it at peak times..even for 8 meg users.he then hung up on me when i pushed the question farther.
gonna enjoy phoning trading standards and ofcom on monday :)

Lies lies lies... Thats all Tiscali have. There may well be staff who dont, but unfortunately they get tarred with the same brush. You can never know which staff is lying and which isnt cos they all tell you different things.
It might get fixed soon... Keep hammering tiscali forums with complaints.
Give them a couple of weeks tbh, thats all im giving them now, theyve had 5 months of my patience.

Hi Snaith, with the greatest of respect, i dont know how you can say i have not helped or at least tried to be helpful. I have posted my connection problems and my personal findings from ringing them up . I have told you guys what they told me. Then i told them (tiscali) that because of this specific issue i will be leaving them and they noted this down.
I have voted with my feet. I can't be the only one, and if others are leaving because of this problem, sooner or later they will start to realise even more people will leave, they will have to stop blocking the port during peak times or loose further customers, then the other tiscali eve players will be happy too.
I didn't mean it to sound like a 'scoop', indeed many others have also been told by tiscali they are blocking the port, i was just dumbfounded by what they said!
It is great that someone from tiscali has said they are trying to fix it, and I'm still pleased they sorted you out. It still doesn't get around the fact they told me they wouldn't do anything about it (honestly they did). So I'm not sure how long I was supposed to wait after that response. all the best

Damn! Add me to the list.
I have just signed up with tiscali and started playing eve. After two weeks with tiscali it seems for me blocking is between 1700-2300 during the week and 1400 to 2300 weekends. What is worse is that when I try p2p it works fine.
What is the best way to 'escape' tiscali? As I dont want to pay ú220 to get out of my contract!
Could anyone who has managed to get out of their contract post precisely how. This could be a template for the rest of us.

Ok there are links to Tiscali forums all over the 2 sticky threads currently running. They will take you to the EVE SPECIFIC support, where you will find someone at Tiscali who is trying to resolve this problem. He is waiting for your post. Not some phone jockey at the call centre who has no idea what you are on about. If you don't contact him, don't expect a result, posting in here is not enough, we have established a point of contact, so worth using it, if you don't it's rather like the poster a little bit earlier, if they didn't know about him, how could they help.

I believe earlier in this or the other sticky thread there are references to Pipex and where people contacted them. They did mail their customers saying they had fixed the problem, I hope it is not returning.

Just for anyone thinking of changing ISP be aware Plusnet provide their service via LLU which is on the Tiscali wholesale network.
Personally I have had found Plusnet to be very good but recently on my parents lower limit connection I find it almost impossible to login to EVE.
I'm starting to suspect I'm actively being prevented from connecting...

Thought I'd better add my experience to this thread. I had a little go with EVE a couple of years ago, but opted to stick with WoW instead. Now I want to give it another try and resurrected my account only to find that I can't get online at all. I'm pretty sure that Tiscali are blocking the game, because my client can't even tell me how many people are on Tranquility. As I'm at work 8-6ish, I can only play at peak times so my EVE subscription is effectively useless.
The odd thing is, my Tiscali connection always ran WoW like a dream. I had some latency problems with Ventrilo, but after going through their support web boards (don't even bother with the call centre staff is my advice) they analysed my connection and things improved. What I don't understand is that if Tiscali, one of the UK's biggest broadband providers, are preventing their customers from playing EVE, why haven't CCP started legal action? It seems like a clear loss of earnings from where I'm sitting.

Keep pushing them... dont let up.
Dont bother with tech support phoneline, get on Tiscali forums and keep on pushing at them.
Why should you break and leave? Youre paying for a service that they arent providing. They dont state that they will block whatever the hell they like, whenever the hell they like. But they do, youve paid to use the internet. Make sure you actually get to use the whole internet as you expect from them.
Dont let them break you
Break them!

I'm struggling with this and could do with some advice...
1) When I go to the Tiscali Support link indicated in this thread, I cannot post. I've joined their forums as a member and have logged in, but it still says I'm not logged in, so I cannot post even to get support. I'm b******d if I'm gonna call them for support at 10p/min ! Any ideas how to get posting ?
2) If I change from Tiscali, does it matter who I go to? Any pointers would be helpful.
P.S. I'm just getting started on the Eve Trial and I'm finding I cannot log-in to play in the evenings mid-week, so I'm thinking that joining Eve is just too frustrating to join up properly, even though the gameworld seems excellent, so any help would be great.

From reading these threads it seems that hoping for this to be fixed is not working. This is why I am hoping that someone will post a really good method to allow me to get out of paying a penny to the ****'s at tiscali.
I would post on the tiscali forum but, even though six weeks have passed since I signed up, they have still not set my account up.
edit: have same problem with logging in as AnnKat Dubh.

Just a note. Tiscali France was bought by AliceADSL some months/years ago. I haven't had any problems with Alice so far even though I started 5 years ago with Tiscali and still have a "tiscali.fr" mail; just wanted to point that out for (future) users in the same case.

Clicking on them does nothing and the client loses the connection within a minute. Proxies dont seem to connect either as they never get past the handshake

To be honest, guys, I swapped to Demon when this kicked off and I haven't looked back since - so the problem is definitely in Tiscali's area and not our wiring since nothing changed except they swapped us over at the exchange.
When I asked about the problem, I got some spouted rubbish from the tech support operatives... this happened for weeks after I first got fed up with it.
If they'd have been quicker to acknowledge the problem and not lie to their customers, we'd still be with them.
Another black mark on Tiscali - they told us that 2Mb/s was the fastest our line would support - we're now on 8...

go to www.your-freedom.net download the latest proxy from there
once you have that then download sockscap 32
put eve into sockscap as one of the programs you want to run via the proxy.. Hit start connection on the your freedom client then run on the eve clinet in your socks cap window.
its 19:43 here and according to evemon tq is offline atm. Yes tiscali are throttling agian. Funny how i have gone thru my proxy and have all my accounts happily logged in to tq.
your freedom is free but you get limited connection time - which is 6 x 1 hour periods within any 24 hour period best bet is to spend a massive 4 euros and get the basic package giving you unlimited connection time..
Once you have done that - GET YOUR MAC CODE FROM TISCALI AND GET A NEW ISP :)

well, to follow on from the post i made an hour ago on the new users forum, i woudl like to add my name to the list of tiscali afflicted players. My ISP is Toucansurf, but they use tiscali's servers. I just started playing today and haven't been able to connect at all since being disconnected early this evening.
Unfortunately I can't see myself paying a subscription for this game with an ISP as crap as this. It's just not worth it (much like ringing them to complain, which i have about their service many many times already).
Why, though, does this only seem to happen with Eve? I never had this problem with any other online game.
