A bit difficult at mo, I have had 3 phone calls back and each one they made a change, last one being packet size or something like that, and since then my speed is in the 7 megs and not dropped Eve once. So Starcop is sorted. It does seem they have been trying, once we got their attention, which granted seemed to take a while.

Eve isn't the only game with Tiscali problems. I play Lord of the Rings Online aswell and there are issues with that and Tiscali. Unfortunately I don't have the option to change though as I work away during the week and the place I stay at is Tiscali, its not my connection

Hi. Ive also been having problems with Tiscali and received all the usual rubbish. I got my mac code virtually by return email and a cofirmation by post within a couple of days. As i have been unable to get on eve Tonight since 17.30 (now 20.00) I have changed to Virgin who after extensive questioning have told me that i should be able to connect to Eve 24/7 if i so desire. They do not have a fair usage policy so unlimited is unlimited and i am getting 6 meg instead of the 2 meg with tiscali for an extra ú3 p.m.

Edited by: Serve Cold on 09/10/2007 19:39:32 After weeks of getting 'Dropped' from EvE i finally rang pipex Homecall technical Dept. Pipex Homecall is part of the Tiscali network. The geezer on the other side of the phone did some test with me. These test concluded that my 8mg line was only giving me 5-10% of my connection speed when i carn't connect to eve. When i can connect to eve i did the speed test and noticed i get 90-99% of my speed. Anybody else noticed this? http://speedcheck.ispconnect.co.uk/
He stated that pipex HC and Tiscali are suffering from the same problems reguarding eve-online. One of the reasons why we are getting this problem according to PHC Techie is that Tiscali have Eve(Online)games in general as some Peer 2 Peer connection and not a gaming connection???? He also said that my hardware at the exchange is BT and not Pipex or Tiscali and that could also be part of my problem.... Strange that i have never had any problems until i signed up to the 8mg Pipex HC deal. I used to be on Pipex 2mg.
Pipex HC are now sending me out an e-mail for me to do a 24hr test and this will be submitted to their Tech Dude who Plays/Deals with eve/gaming problems. So we will see what happens. Happy Gaming for all that can connect

If you need to leave Tiscali you can either:
1) Pay off the remainder of your contract.
2) Raise a technical support ticket. If the issue is not resolved within 30 days (reasonable time), then request a MAC code as they have failed to provide a proper working service. Don't be fobbed off, persist & insist!
After my woes with Tiscali i went with NewNet. Been with them a year now with no issues (touch wood). They don't throttle P2P and no "peak usage" limits.

is that what they call a Technical disconnection?

Read the Terms & Conditions. Section 12.4.2 states "we break a material term of this contract and we fail to remedy it within 28 days of a written notice from you". If you are not getting the service you are paying for; because of <insert your technical problem>, put it in writing that if it not resolved in 28 days you will request a MAC code. ____________ Blue Binary |

Tiscali Support Eve Thread
Posted by Tiscali on 4th October Quote "Post here for EVE and Quake Issues only 945561
We can see there a few issues here and contrary to popular belief we are not blind and we do not ignore your posts. We have been deleting your posts in other peoples threads as per the forum rules. NOT A CONSPIRACY.
In light of the overwhelming feeling in here, I'm putting this up as a sticky. This not for discussions, it's so we can better gauge the size of the problem.
If you have a problem with EVE or with Quake ONLY, post it in here.
Please keep it short. 1 post per person only. If you repeat post I will delete these as I see fit.
Each person will have a ticket raised and logged against the parent ticket. I know there's lots of angst about this but trust me, whether the resolution to this is one you'll want to hear or not, I'll give it to you when I have it. __________________ Regards

I am 16, and subsequently do not pay for my connection, but my Dad does. I've brought the issue of changing ISP's with him, but it's going to be difficult to persuade him. Until then, i've contacted the BBC program 'Watchdog' about it.
I am getting very frustrated at not being able to get on after about 6pm. I pay out of my own money, of which i have very little, to play EVE, only for Tiscali to be deciding when i can play EVE. It's very lucky that i have the ability to sit indoors all day playing EVE, or else i'd probably only get to play 2 hours on a weekday, which for this game is nowhere near enough.

Could someone translate the Tiscali double-speak for me?
Does this mean they might think about letting EVE work in the evenings? Or is it just a smokescreen to placent us for a while?

From Tiscali forums today quote, "Starcop, This hasn't died a death yet. The team that I am dealing with are still addressing this, and although this is a priority to you gamers, it doesn't affect the other million plus customer we have. This issue is going forward, and will I'm sure be resolved in due course, it just happens that their due course is not the same as the gamers. I know this will upset everybody, but at least we're not ignoring this. It is indeed good to know that Eve are trying other ports, can you let us know how that goes please. __________________ Regards

So they are still asking for feed back, if you have tried the other port as suggested by CCP ,and it worked, can you give tiscali a reply. Linkage for tiscali support forums is in above posts in this thread.

Well another Tiscali customer here, not having any Joy with them.
I moved out into a new Flat in January 07 and set up with Tiscali, then had a few problems connecting but this seamed to sort itself out so could use Eve anytime I wanted. This all changed about 4 to 5 months ago when I can only play between 11pm and 12 midday/downtime.
Also noticed the Tiscali were restircting by bandwidth from the 2 meg line which I pay for to half a meg, and as of last night this was a quarter of a meg.
The responce I have had from Tiscali was that maybe I should not play Eve during the their Paek times and should wait until after, which by what they are doing they have forced me to do.
This is no good to me as I work all day get home about 7pm and want to destress by shooting some pirates and collecting their goodies, so starting to play at 11pm when I have to work the next day is just no good.
I believe that I am getting nowhere with Tiscali as they say to me that this is affecting every Tiscali customer, which I know is not true as my brother in law is 100 meters down the road and he gets 2 meg all the time and he can get onto Eve anytime he wants (except Downtime of course).
Makes me believe that Tiscali does not give a dam about those of us who want to have a laugh and play Eve, as they keep fobbing me off with excuses.
Would love to move to BT or another ISP but tied into a 12 month contract which runs out in January
Will let you know if it ever changes, wish me luck

My advice is to do what I did and leave Tiscali. This problem due to them registering EVE as peer-to-peer rather than an online game, has been going on for over one full year now. Back in January 2007 I left tiscali for virgin and have had no problems since. For them to say they're trying to sort it out, well that's a nonsense, they have had over one full year of people complaining about this issue so if they haven't sorted it out by now then I wouldn't hold out much hope for the future.

well i finally got an admission of guilt (of sorts) from 2 levels of tiscali tech support tonight....
first was a supervisor about a week ago admitting that they might "block certain ports at peak times" and then sayin he'd run some checks n get back to me... so a week later when he didnt call back i chased it up... after a nice game of ring a round a roses with tech support bein dimwits the guy finally accepted that there was a problem on the line to the server between 5-11 n that it was bein escalated to his on site tech team....
aka they'll ring me in 24hrs with more details.
and as a added bonus i had a moan at the billin dept about how they arent providin me with the service i'm payin for + the amount of calls to a inept tech team and have ended up with ú15 refund n my next month free :-)
there is hope... maybe...

Hi all.
I've been having what i thought were random disconnects from the eve server, but having read this thread, I've done some investigating.
My disconnects are NOT random. i can't connect to eve from 6pm (gmt) to 11pm. This looks like the classic signature of a PORT BLOCK, so i called tiscali...
26mins on hold later, i spoke to a nice Tech guy, who actually said, 'Yes tisacli DO block this port from 6-11pm as it causes lots of network traffic'!!!!!!!!!!!!
THEY ADMIT IT. FINALLY.
so i called www.fast.co.uk and they were awesome, they have no port blocking and the Customer service was AMAZING, i haven't joined yet but someone from the UK answered my call IMMEDIATELY - tiscali could learn from these guys.
OK the long and short of it is, fast.co.uk are not cheap, but they can get me sorted out. They said to ring back when i have a MAC code from tiscali, and if i have any problems i could call Fast again and ask to speak to the SAME PERSON AGAIN! woohoo that's customer service!!!!
i call Tiscali to get a MAC code... 38mins later (on 0845 charges)
I get through and they say I'll get it in 24-48 hrs, so hopefully in 3/4 days from now I'll be able to play Eve whenever i darn well want to.
Hooray.
I'll repost as soon as it's all sorted to let you know how it all went...
AAGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH i hate tiscali!

Well it's update time and to let you know that Tiscali have not fixed the issue.
I have been contacted by their BT rep who has told me that there is a fault on the line and that it is fixed, so hoping that they have done the job properly I tried to log on last night at 4pm, and guess what.
Yeah that's right I was still only receiving a quarter of a meg on my line and no connection to EVE.
And the support guys have this nack of calling you to see if your internet is working when I am at work and can not tell them and not when I have the trouble, so they can see what is going on.
Typical bad management.
Still enjoyed the 4 level 3 missions I had chance to play Saturday morning before downtime came along.
