Anyone that loses that much money during one of the most expensive wars in Eve history feels the pain, dude.

Due to the size of the heist, the GM team took a look into it to see if there was any violations of the EULA. No misconduct was found and any actions taken against the player by CCP were reversed.

Originally by: Jimer Lins It's at least confirmed that SOME kind of theft took place, and given that CCP doesn't generally temp ban people just to investigate an act of petty corp thievery, it's a good bet this was a big one.
Of course, this is all speculation.
Wrong. If someone reports an account as hacked, CCP bans first and then investigates to prevent further damage. Wrangler and Kieron even said the account was suspended because of the massive scale of the theft, so it wasn't just another "petty theft"
Err, that's pretty much what I said. "...given that CCP doesn't generally temp ban people just to investigate an act of petty corp thievery, it's a good bet this was a big one."
They don't bother pre-emptively investigating for little things, so I'm inferring that this was big because the account was banned during the investigation.

My question is why would the account be banned for the time of the investigation? When no wrong-doing was found? Why not investigate... then ban if needed? Guilty until proven innocent?

Comon... it was perfectly clear who stole... why would they worry about him selling loot and hiding the evidence? and the question of "Hacking"? wouldn't that be done thru several accounts... and not just one?

It's about survival, we act fast now so we get less trouble to deal with later. I might actually be able to take tomorrow off because of it.

A very wise decision Flatliner, time to start enjoying eve
It won't be long before one of the top BOB members steals the BPO's too, as their alliance is falling apart on all fronts, and the smart ones move on first.
Also, you're now eligible for Goonswarm leadership.

Stop trying to troll and degrade CCPs actions. These are standard precautions when there is belief an account has been hacked and its best to play safe. If there is no EULA breach the account is returned in no time. The longer a hacker has access to an account the more damage he can do. It won't be clear until CCP investigate.

The investigation wasn't so much about the corp theft as to make sure the account wasn't hacked. If it was the afflicted corporation would have gotten the stuff back, something that would have been complicated if a hacker would use the time to spend money and items.
A double edged sword really. By banning to prevent further damage you also limit potential corp-theft and extent of the heist.
You have logs of everything, so why not let him finish doing what he's doing and check meanwhile to see if it's banned.
Who knows if he could've grabbed much more?
