Hmm, just compared the two .xml files and the format in the file used in MEEP v2310 has a lot more information than the format of the file created by v2210. Wondering if the old inventory file will really import into the new version with the more complex data on the items in the file.
Going to assume the import functin doesn't work with the file format differences.

However, just to be difficult, if you then move around to a different mineral and come back, sometimes the pop-up window appears for value.
Or, you can select Increase Amount, and then the Amount popup comes up AND the Value popup.
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
AND this is an odd thing for me to be doing as the value I can change is the Total Value, not the value per unit. Is it possible to adjust the value per unit without deleting the present entry and reentering it?
If you update it to version 2.3.2.0 that error is fixed. I have been rewriting the website so I didnt update the version there. I'll try to make it easier to adjust single values rather than having to rewrite the total value.
Akihito Karasu: The option to load Old inventory files was written specifically to convert from the old files to the new file. Doing it should result in a message at the bottom left corner of the app, either success or error. Are you seeing that at all? This will help me to figure out where its going wrong. ------

Edited by: Akihito Karasu on 10/10/2007 18:28:35 Hi Salvis, Just visited your website. The new format looks great.
Errr, just one tiny thing missing, a link to v2320.
I've been exploring the Multicomponent Calc and the Efficiency Calc, very interesting. Learned quite a bit. Discovered I had miss-understood some things about production a while ago, that I will now fix.

- At the bottom: "Error loading old inventory file: E:\with location" - In the previous version of EVE MEEP I had created an inventory file named blueprints.xml and this is what I'm trying to import. - Since I sometime stash things several directories down - which sometimes causes problems, I moved the blueprints.xml file to the root directory and tried importing it that way. Didn't work either.

any ideas? eve-meep is still the only program accessing the journal.

I love the program, and eagerly await the mining calculator as that was the tool I tended to use the most in the past. Thank you very much for your work.

Thanks for a fantastic tool
However, I'm thoroughly confused by the invention calculator.
Taking the Absolution BP as an example, try plugging in these figures:
No meta item added. No decryptor. Prophecy BPC: 509,511.24 Occult Ship Data Interface: 0 Datacore - Mech Eng: 1,200,000 Datacore - Amarrian Starship: 45,000
With my skills, success chance is 21.64032%
Materials cost per try: 20,429,511.24 Station fee: 1,572,512.50
Leading to: (BPC + 16 * (ME datacore + SS datacore) + station fee + decryptor cost) * 100 / success chance = 101,671,434.34.
This ties up exactly with the calculation I made.
Now add a decryptor:
War Strategon: 25,500,000 (yeah, old price, they've shot up since)
Chance of success now goes up to 28.132416% (which I agree with, base chance x 1.3)
Materials cost per try is now 45,929,511.24 (which I agree with) Station fee stays the same.
Now put the figures into the formula above, and you get 168,851,561.63.
EVEMeep however says the cost per success is 103,708,795.65.
The calculations seem to be similarly different from what I expected whenever I plug in a decryptor.
So there seems to be a difference between EVEMeep's formula and the one I'm using. Can anyone enlighten me? I'm perfectly happy to be told my formula is wrong (and why)!

This is always a bit tricky to do, because technically a decryptor is an asset rather than a material, and how you factor in its costs vary in perspectives. You added the value in with data cores, BPC, etc, where as I add it after computing success. My Equation is:
successcost = ((ConsumedMatCost + timecost) / (success / 100)) + PersistantMatCost with persistantMatCost being the decryptor and interface. If this is wrong let me know, but since its not actually consumed in the attempt, when you fail you dont really lose any value from it. ------

The interface isn't consumed in the attempt, but the decryptor is - it's one decryptor per run - so it needs to be added in with the ConsumedMatCost.

Got v2320 loaded now.
Confused with loading Market data.
1) Open EVE, open Market in Placid, select item, Export File 2) Open MEEP, Tools/Prices/Edit Prices/Simple View 3) Select item and Placid, click Import = 0.00 as values + "Download of price successful" bottom left corner + Inventory/Item Details/Prices updates with the region and price. 4) Select item and The Forge, click Import = 207.53as values + "Download of price successful" bottom left corner + Inventory/Item Details/Prices updates with the region and price.
The one item from Placid is the only item exported - i.e. I have no data on The Forge.
For some reason item data will only import for The Forge, even though the only data relates to another region.
Very odd.

What your doing is actually getting the price from eve-central. To use market logs, Use Tools>Price>Compile prices. I have a massive writeup about all these things just about done that im going to put on the website. Sorry for the confusion. ------

Im having a problem with the "compile" prices option. I've been gathering prices for a few days and started getting aberrant values for the sell value of tritanium in the 1*100000 area. I changed the computation to median and it temporarily solved the problem but it reappeared. Also the Tools->Mining updates with the correct value when switching to median but the Reprocessing plug in keeps using the aberrant value and doesn't update with the compiled values. ---

Guides look great. Thanks.
I read them and used the simple view edit to check out the prices problem. I reset the price of tritanium and compiled the price list from the export logs of the past few days. I obtained the same weird result:
SELL: mean - 21.772,63 ; median - 3,33 ; high - 1.000.000,00 ; low - 2,50 ; optimal - 0,00
BUY: mean - 2,30 ; median - 2,73 ; high - 3,56 ; low - 0,01 ; Build cost - 0,00
I finally found out that some guy is selling one unit of tritanium for 1M which totally destroys the mean. It would be very helpful to filter out these abnormal orders in the compile prices. ---

Ill look into adding more filter options for the market logs, but if its just one unit in the mean time you could put a minimum quantity filter on. I also updated invention plugin to fix the decryptor issue, and the POS plugin to fix the wrong fuel types for the racial towers. ------

I am working on it (top of my list) but its proving to be difficult to get a good UI that has ore mining, ice mining, ship fitting, and gang set up, and also looks half-way decent. This is typically the hard part though, so when that gets done itll be smooth sailing. ------

Just a thought... I started using Eve-MEEP for my first T2 building project. It is great... saved me a load of brain-ache.
I did however think of a feature that would help even more. I wanted to build a bunch of Sacrileges right up from the advanced materials. It would be nice to be able to total up all the required minerals, as well as the components that Eve-MEEP does at the moment. Something like a tree from ship bp to the individual components to the advanced materials required and then a display of a final component and/or material total to buy to build them all. That would make purchasing for bulk T2 builds a breeze.
Great programme already. Only just getting started with seeing what it can really do.

Is it just me, or is there a problem calculating ME waste on Capital components (like Capital Propulsion Enging and Capital Armor Plates) when using the Efficiency Calculator and the MultiComponent Calculator?
It seems to assume perfect-refine values no matter what. Changing Production Efficiency skill level has no effect, changing the BPO's ME level has no effect, even switching between "perfect" and "adjusted" values on the MultiComponent Calculator has no effect (even though the BPO is at ME0)
Other BPOs don't seem to have this issue.

In the MultiComponent Calc, the cost of minerals is the value set in Tools - Preferences - Market Logs. However, the Buy price can only be one of the buy price types. The problem with this is that the Buy Price is actually a price at which someone has offered to buy the mineral, often at a much lower level than the average price at this the mineral is selling. Therefore the cost of production calculated by the MultiComponent Calc is wildly out of synch with any real world cost of production.
A much more helpful value would be the average price at which the mineral is currently selling. Given that this value is not computed, I would suggest the Mean Sell Price. This would give a far more accurate estimate of the Cost of Production and enable us to contine to use the Market Logs.
For example, in Heimatar Isogen prices are: 48.43 - Mean Buy Price, price used by MultiComponent Calc 69.18 - Mean Sell Price 66.00 - Current Average Sell Price
As you can see values computed using the Mean Buy Price will be about 30% lower than the real cost of buying the minerals at the price at which they are actually being bought and sold.

I am open to changing this, but let me make sure I have your argument correct. Buy prices are often far lower than the sell price for the market, meaning that if you were to go buy minerals from the market, you wont get them at the mean buy price but instead at the lowest(or mean) sell price. Therefore the calculator should instead use the sell price for minerals. Do you have any math for prices beyond what I use now that might be better? ------
