Since ownership of the service has technically changed hands, and other changes are in the works, I've created this new thread for the EVE ONLINE HOLD'EM service. Previous information about this service can be found in the previous thread:

The bankers all appear to be fair and honest.I'm a little cheap so I play Low Stakes Hold'em. Good game to pass the time while mining away, camped in a station or cloaked in a bubbled system.

I'm sad to say that we've had our first banker incident in our almost half a year history.
One of our bankers, known as both xG3NOCiDEx and Dragon Rose, lost a couple of games and owed 3b in debt to a couple of players that he lost to. Instead of paying, he decided to default. The actual bets given to Geno were refunded by myself, since that was theft and it happened in my establishment. I take no responsibility for his gambling debt, only the losses incurred by others. So while I wish that the folks who won the games against him could claim a few bil in winnings, they are going to have to hunt Geno down and extract that for themselves ;)
If anyone has a claim that I haven't already dealt with, please talk to me in game, however I checked the logs and all affected parties should have had their issue resolved or have an evemail waiting to talk to me.
I will be looking at finding a way to secure our higher stakes games to prevent such a situation like this from happening in the future, however with EVE it always comes down to some matter of trust. Ideas are always welcome, however.

Originally by: Sierra Sharp Edited by: Sierra Sharp on 24/01/2008 00:07:20 I disapprove of this completely the first time i went to play I was scammed for a rather large sum of money. The management in turn pretty much told me to go **** myself. Unless you want to risk risking your money on these scamming individuals i would look elsewhere there are many other places in eve to play poker.
After being approached by Sierra about this, I checked all of the poker table logs as well as the chat channel logs. Sierra's name appeared on neither, anywhere. Sierra was also unable to provide chat logs or other evidence of this taking place, so without evidence of this transaction or game ever happening I can't start handing out money, or everyone who reads this thread could bring an alt to me and ask for "stolen iskies" back.
All games involving Geno from that evening have already been investigated, if any other claims are made there's going to need to be more proof than "I say it happened to me" otherwise there is no way to sort the scammers out from legitimate people (on the chance there are any not fixed up already).

A little hard for you to compare chat logs when you dont have them seems how you weren't on during this. Even though it was admitted to I still get boned

Some of you guys need to calm down. Today had some insane activity. I logged in to find a swamped banker running a bunch of tables and struggling to keep up. My client later crashed from jumping between two clients and a bunch of different tables. Once I stabilized, we had most of our tables running constantly with heads-up games cycling in and out.
Keep it up guys, it's a great amount of fun dishing out these huge numbers for folks!

i missed the whole Geno episode, but imo it could be solved by never letting bankers bank their own games.
for the rest, im very pleased with the services of Selene and the others. Their channel is by far the busiest, and there's pretty much 24/7 coverage by bankers. The games actually have some people that know poker which is fun from time to time too(its not all about the $$ :) )
2 suggestions though (just my own thoughts, wont stop using ur services if u ignore them^_^)
- slower structures. Id rather see some more play for my ISK. The slower a structure, the more skill counts towards winning (instead of luck). There's other channels that have a 3000 starting stack, 10/20 blinds increasing every 8 mins. Or you could just stick to 5000 chips and start with 25/50 blinds... that way we'll start with 100 BB's, which is pretty standard.
- less rake. why not just stick to the standard 10% rake? you're the only channel that ever exceeds 10% (20% in low stakes even :Oo). 10% is pretty much the standard in online poker for low stakes, and high stakes usually has less.
but, as i said, that's just improvements that seem nice from my pov. Their services are fine as they are, and i will continue to use them.
cya ingame,

Doing this above certain thresholds of ISK is going to happen very soon.

This is an interesting suggestion, mostly because there are a lot of people who think our tables are either too fast, or too slow (I hear this more often). Given that people enjoy a variety of game speeds, it's very difficult to satisfy all customers without having fifty active players at all times so that there are always enough people with a particular taste to provide a decent game with a particular blind structure. If you or others have specific ideas on how to offer these kinds of varieties without a lot of confusion or lack of population, please let me know. I'm simply not sure how to provide this kind of custom service right now.

Our rakes are historical in that they haven't changed since the days of Axe Hold'Em. As for the %s, the only games above 10% are the two lowest, with the % quickly dropping to the standard 5% for 100m and above. Everyone wants to save money, of course, but this has been a rare request so I have no real reason to change our structure at this point. =)
I've also been working with the Low Stakes channel to iron out the way everything works there, given that it is a young venture with its own unique challenges. As of today the rake there is 10% across the board for any type of game, replacing the previous, excessive number.
Edit: Oh, and thanks for the feedback, I like to this kind of stuff. Keep it up!

This week has been insanely busy for Eve Online Hold'em, with 80+ people in channel and games running continuously at peak for hours nonstop, at all stakes under the sun from 15+2 mill to 2 billion isk heads-ups.
A huge thanks to all the players out there that help make our poker channel as successful as it is! =D --- What doesn't manage to kill you... has made a tactical error.

That would be from our low stakes affiliate room, not Eve Online Hold'Em itself. Customers need to be patient as every game is a coordination issue between all people who are paying to play as well as the banker, which takes time. Your own chatlog shows that you responded poorly and/or overreacted to the banker asking you to be patient, although he should not have stooped to hurling insults back, so I'll make sure he is reminded of proper behavior.
As far as blue/red politics, this is poker, people from all alliances have and do play here. Politics has nothing to do with it. Please keep any comments, friendly or critical, constructive and refrain from anything troll-related.

Just a question what is there to stop 2 or 3 players going on a teamspeak server and fixing a table so that they can split the first prize? On the 100mil plus buy ins where the grand prize has the potential to be close to a bil u could find tables being fixed. What controls do u have in place to sa***uard my money against such things?
