Originally by: Zulu Attacker Usually i find Eve Poker but was disapointed to find that after paying for game and then with a very troublesome table Lagging out etc.. I only got to play first hand while already down almost half my chips then after more hastle only saw 8 of the 37 hands i was in for.. and not so much as an apology.. but they took my money ok.
Unfortunately technical issues are a real problem, but we try to make the most of it. Individual connection issues aren't something we have control over, and we can only offer refunds when it happens at the beginning or early on in a game, otherwise there is a situation where someone gets cheated, and you open the door for shady behavior. Sorry for the trouble, hopefully it doesn't happen again.
Of course, when the entire table is freezing and there are issues, everyone suffers. If a table dies or becomes unplayable, the pot is split among those left and/or the players may make other arrangements. It's all in our IGB page linked in the MOTD. Everyone should read up on the info there and ask questions where they are unclear.

If you ever experience a lag problem alays try and post ingame asap, sometimes a lost connection can go unnoticed by the player and we as bankers can find out what is going on fairly quickly and help you out of the situation. We do not want to take isk unfairly and will/do refund where appropriate. Never be afraid to ask for help or advice in channel the quicker you ask the quicker we can help.
Happy gaming. Please come for a game in low stakes hold'em(1.1-11m) or eve online hold'em(15mil -infinity) to find a friendly gaming environment.

Been playing in the channel since October, often for stakes up to 1-2b per game, never had any problems. As long as you use your head -- make sure the banker is a LISTED banker and not someone else, for example -- there's virtually no risk.
As I tell people in my corp when they ask, I'm not going to personally guarantee their money is safe -- nothing in Eve is safe -- but given the vast amounts of ISK I've sent to and from Eve Online Hold'Em bankers, my experience tells me it's one of the most honest and legit operations around.
Needs more high rollers -- hell, just more players in general. More players means more games, means more spreads of games from 11m - whatever, means quicker access to games.

Been a huge week with usually 3-4 tables running at all times. Either full tables or heads up. Been a lot of fun (and fairly profitable!)

Glad to hear. Remember folks, poker should be fun. Going broke in a day or two and then having to rat just to pay for ships and a cheap game of poker is not the solution! Moderation, moderation, moderation. (Now get back to the tables.) =P

Id like to thank one of the high stakes players " 5ylar " for donating some isk to the lower stakes games on Sunday shortly after downtime.
The first game was a 3.3mill buyin which he donated 100mill to the pot , next game was 2.2mill buyin which he gave us another 200mill to the pot of that game , and finally just before he went afk he donated 300mill for the pot of the next game. Which i believe was a 2.2mill buyin .
Thanks again 5ylar and good luck at the tables
Kind Regards TomHorn

Instructions are in the channel MOTD (Message of the Day - the text you see when you join) as well as a link to a page with our rules. Just ask in channel for help if you get stuck and for more about how it all works, most people are friendly and gladly point you in the right direction =)

Had a few goes at this and seemed to be VERY unlucky whenever i went all in or a big bet whenever i got delt a great hand like a high pair. Each time another player wouldend up with 3 of a kind on 4th or 5th card.
now i am not saying this is a scam, but in real life online poker, at 1 time there was a MAJOR con going on with small online poker sites where the cards were not random and 1 or 2 of the players on the table were in the scam or were bots.
play seemed pretty normal, but now and again the real players woudl get delt a hand they could not refuse to go all out betting on. Each time this happend, the bot/player in on scam would get a slightly better hand.
was a big problem untill lot of these sites were shut down and it was in news a lot so ppl starte dto only use the big legal sites.
Again, not saying this eve poker is a scam, but i will nto sue the site anymore as the way the hands fell just did not feel right..

A lot of new players have told us they think Mavens deals insane hands more than they are used to. I wish I had an answer for this perception, but in my experience with online poker sites, and real-life play, there's no actual difference -- going through a lot of hands online with big tables you are going to see lots of crazy hands. Cards are purely random, and when you have thousands of 0.01% possibilities, you hit a "rare" deal very often.
Some people blame the RNG. Pseudo-random number generation is pseudo-random, so I don't see how the software could be "wonky" =D As for security, we do list security features in our IGB page, and you can also peruse the online documentation for Mavens, where it details every aspect of the client and server modules. No secrets here.

The first post has been updated to be better organized. Also I have added in information about a new mailing list called EOH ANNOUNCE which I will start using to announce our tournament games and important changes to our service.
I expect us to start up weekly high roller tournaments again. Not quite as epic as the Series game, but a nice, reliable, sign-up high roller table of 9. Stay tuned for details!

Really love the service you are running here.
On that note, having worked in the online gambling industry for 5 years now, I would love to see you guys move to a more traditional payout structure for full tables.
Typical online STT payout structure for 9 players is 45%/27%/18%. For an 18 man tourney you'd have 40%/30%/20%/10%
By flattening out the payout structure for full tables, you are spreading out the rewards to more then just the "TOP" players, and thus adding more funds to the poker community. This in turn will reward you as a host by having more people able to continue buying into the next running table.

Thanks Covenn. Actually we had a similar structure back in the day (Nov 07 and earlier I think), and we've been arguing over switching to a format close to the one you mentioned for MONTHS. It'd really be better for everyone. Our current decision (me + consulting my staff) would be that, since we're putting a lot of effort into getting a replacement for Mavens, we should wait and try to switch both client and payout structure at the same time.
If we don't make any progress towards new software in the next few weeks, we'll probably switch payouts anyway. But yeah, I agree with you, we really do need to switch to a more distributed pay-out format.

I don't play very much because of the payout structure, however if it was more closely related to the real poker sites/casinos, they would have more of my Isk. Including the highroller games.
