Pretty much we do the only thing anyone can do, which is to follow basic logic. Are people playing strangely regularly? Are there any other signs? And then you look into it. In half a year of doing this, we haven't had any real instances of cheating either via multiclienting or by this method -- at least none that are effective. In the former case it's easy to detect, in the latter if anyone has ever tried they still lose plenty often anyway. The only people whom win consistently and regularly enough to make a lot of money are the individuals whom display semi-professional levels of poker and are known addicts to the game, both here and in real-life. =)

Edited by: Mildeliane on 04/03/2008 05:29:39 This is a public service announcement, though I'd really rather not have to do so:
We've had a recent rash of people impersonating our bankers. To make sure you're not getting scammed, ALWAYS do a "show info". If the person is in a newbie corp or has only been around for a few days (i.e. under a week and not months ingame, even years as most of our bankers are) DO NOT send your cash to them, and warn those in channel. Be careful.

Thanks Milde. It's pretty silly to be honest, considering CCP is against name-scamming, and will ban the accounts as well as take and refund the ISK in most cases. Even for scamming this is pretty dumb. Ahh well, sorry folks, just be careful and don't let this get in the way of some good poker =)

Hi,
As a relative noob to EVE, would someone mind taking the time to do a basic FAQ for how EVE poker works.
I'll join the channel when I am keen, but it seems chaotic enough without some nub trying to figure out what the hells going on.
I already play online poker a bit, but haven't figured out how you integrate that with EVE

i put eve the game into windows press escape to change this so you can play game and poker
ii get the free download
iii give the banker your isk
iv logon to the table
v game over banker pays out the winnings

Thanks for the reply.
Hmm yes I think as a player of less than a month 1 mill or so a session would be my limit.
Looking forward to it

Yep, that's the idea of low stakes. It lets people try it out or play even if they're pretty new or currently poor. Be sure to let us know what you think about the services.

well didnt think this would ever happen but it did.. i went to play a heads up for proly about 3.7b and i won it and was never paid. if you play there i wouldnt suggest playing for any substantial amounts with any of the bankers i got wallet logs to prove it.

Edited by: Selene D''Celeste on 15/03/2008 18:28:18 Heya folks. I have an announcement for everyone.
As most of you know as it is recorded on the first page of this thread, a while back we had a banker named Genocide run off with a large unpaid debt and some ISK. Well, he came back on another character, which became obvious one night when he was trying to get people to tell stories about the hugh games he used to play on Geno. So after a convo and calling him on it, we talked for a bit. Geno as Yoke continued to play increasingly higher stakes and went back to his old style of playing. And well, this happened today:
Originally by: Yokeboke well didnt think this would ever happen but it did.. i went to play a heads up for proly about 3.7b and i won it and was never paid. if you play there i wouldnt suggest playing for any substantial amounts with any of the bankers i got wallet logs to prove it.
Yokeboke has been banned from the channels, and we have successfully performed our very first counter-scam, against the only major scam our channel has ever had (thankfully). Nicely, 1.2b of the 3.7 was a BPO bought from one of the very bankers who was scammed by Geno in the past, so he shall be receiving this as a present for that time and for being a damn fine banker =) The use of the rest is to be determined, though it does provide a nice buffer against future scams, I will look at using it as bonuses for bankers, prizes for tournament games, or some other good use.
As for everyone else, thanks for playing with us, and let's hope this is the end of this entire unfortunate incident.
Edit: Oh and for the record Geno, you guys kept playing the game even after I jumped in and told you what we were doing, and you still lost. I don't want anyone's play history tarnished <3

I was just on holiday for a week or so, people are always welcome to convo me though I may be busy. I also have not gone through applications lately and need to hire/fire on Low Stakes again, so I will attend to that within the next day or two.

The Eve Online Hold'em Service and the Low Stakes service are both great. They give you a huge money range of texas hold'em games you can play with eve isk. The bankers are all honest and helpful. Your money is safe and you can have fun playing poker while trying to make some isk. Great setup, I will be playing there often.

the next big channel after EVE Online Hold'em is EVE Holdem Anonymous for the recovering of gambling adicts. please send all donations to me
seriously though, there is not a safer place to put your isk, i should know as they have most of mine. safely tucked away no doubt.
now for all of you looking for a better way to make isk in eve, poker is it. i haven't ratted in over 5 months. i have however won and lost billions, but at the end of the day i have enough isk for ships, mods, and ammo so it actually works out ok.
for those claiming scam and what not, just STFU. there are no scams, there are crappy people who some times get the best of the system but they get theres in the end.
spelling and grammar errors are intentional to give the spelling and grammar queens somthing to do.

I only got to play first hand while already down almost half my chips then after more hastle only saw 8 of the 37 hands i was in for.. and not so much as an apology.. but they took my money ok.

Hi Zulu
This problem is usually down to someone having an internet connection problems. If the rest of the players at the table are still playing and you are the only one lagging or disconnected so your hands keep getting folded it sounds like its probably your interent connection having problems at this time. And there is nothing the pokerrroom can do about your connection. Its unfortunate but its internet poker.
On a real life online poker sites when you play nl holdem if your in a pot and you get disconnected someone bets at the pot and you dont call or raise in time your hand will also be folded even if youve got the best hand. Ive had it happen to me and its not nice but this is online poker same for everyone. Some online sites let you be allin for the chips youve put into the hand but not all.
Goodluck at the tables Zulu
