Originally by: Zanphear Im saying there are plenty of fishes that play there, its an advertising point rather then something bad, you can even see alot of professional poker websites and casinos advertise on that fact.
A "Fish" is a common poker term, its used about either bad poker players that you can easly extract money from, or someone learning the game that hasnt quite grasped it yet and is thusly giving away money.
If your any good, please come and play ;)
But if your a fish, which you probly are looking at that you took such offence to this, dont, I mean poker isnt for everyone.
So if you take offence to this and are crap at poker, your probly a fish, you can come prove me wrong any time :P
So let me get this right, if your new to poker you shouldn't come and play at EOH.....wow what a great advert you are. For people who are put off by zanphear's message, don't be. There are players from every level playing on EOH and to be honest if your new to poker its probably a great way to start playing (stick to the low stakes table though so you don't lose too much isk ). I only started playing on EOH a week ago but its a great community and im sure ill be around for a while

Yeah Zan, you're a terrible poster =)
We do welcome people of all levels of wealth, which is why we have the Low Stakes channel around and have tried to keep it strong and healthy. Everyone is welcome to come and play. And thanks for the kind words folks. Also good to see that the normal Tournament and Double-Through games are becoming more common again as the new-ness of the Ring games is dying down a little =)

Hey folks. We've been chatting about doing another Big Tourney (tm) sometime soon, possibly with a theme. What would you all think about an Alliance-based poker tournament, where any alliance can have 1 or 2 seats in it? Also any ideas what to do special for prizes as well, to make it more worthwhile? (no Regions aren't worth being used as prizes =P)
Please let us know, I'll probably make a new thread and announce details at the end of the week.

Kinda screws over us small corps not in alliances, which doesn't seem much like you - unless, of course, you're having a section for us. Then again, thats kind of hard to do, theres so many of us.
So, In conclusion, DON'T EXCLUDE ME! (Or bad things will happen - It will involve fireworks, ammunition and tears, that about all I can say at this time)

Well, no ceyriot, the big events we run like this mentioned have an extremely high buy-in, last time it was a billion, and maybe selene is thinking of taking it higher, I think it is an interesting idea, dont think it will work (sorry boss) as dont expect the player base to be there from enough alliances, worth a shot though.

I plan on holding another 1 Billion ISK buy in tournament, but looking for interest in a theme / special setup as well.

This is a public service announcement from EOH:
Poker involves smacktalk, please get used to this. There is a block feature in Mavens 2.0 for a reason. However, racism, real-life threats, and overly hostile smacktalk (continuous personal insults, etc) are not fun and will not be tolerated. Recently there has been a string of players who feel entitled to say whatever they wish. While using my service I will not allow people who cause public disturbances and upset numbers of other players to do as they please. EOH is a community and players will be respectful both the staff and the other players, within reason.
So let's play nice folks, I don't want to have to break out the ban/tempban stick every day.

Exciting day on the very high ring game table today. One player leaving the table with a chip stack of 95317 chips which = 9billion 531mill isk , and making over 9billion isk in a few hours. Think this could be a new record for that table.
The max buyin on the very high cash table is 500mill isk , and we are still looking for more high rollers to come and join. Poker has to be one of the most quickest ways of making isk in eve if you are not a bad player. There are also smaller cash tables and single table tounrys from 1.1mill to 1bill+ 1v1s all welcome.

Heya folks, I have some updates to add here since I have been very busy lately.
The slow time of the summer seems to have hit, and I know it's been harder to get non-Ring games lately. Please let me know what times are particularly bad for coverage, though only if there is a real player demand and no banking staff. Some hours there really are only 1-2 people who want non-Ring games to be run outside of low stakes (which I am already dealing with banking issues with), so there's only so much we can do there.
The other updates aren't exactly good news, but I do want to keep everyone informed of what goes on behind the scenes here when problems occur. Last week we had some banker errors and misplaced money from the Ring game accounts, and since then we have performed an extra audit of the accounts to ensure that all of the players' money is accounted for. Mistakes were tracked down and the responsible bankers have been hunting down players to fix the errors, or paying out of pocket for the mistakes. In a few cases I also covered some errors out of pocket, where the previously mentioned solutions weren't enough. A few other errors have been caught and corrected by hand by myself, as a few of you know. We're currently working on improving our automated auditing tools to hopefully reduce these issues, but I wanted to let everyone know that there is no loss of ISK in the accounts due to error that I haven't already corrected, recovered, or covered.
The other issue was a theft issue by one of our now ex-banking staff Era Vulgaris, who grabbed a 5b vs 5b heads-up match, and took that along with the 2b that I allow senior staff to access from Ring games (the rest is safely locked up). The Ring game ISK was repaid out of pocket by myself, and partial refunds for the 1v1 players also came from me.
I'd like to remind everyone to read our Terms in our IGB pages, and to provide suggestions for making that information more accessible and easier to read (many of you tell me you don't read it due to laziness, but don't say I didn't warn you). I'd also like to remind everyone that EOH isn't perfect (never assume anything in EVE is perfect, or RL for that matter), as I do not directly control any of my staff members' brains, and so these kind of incidents can happen despite my caution. The best thing for players to do is to read our Terms and Rules, know how things work, ask me questions if you have any, and don't take unnecessary risks.
I think this covers all of the recent news. Do feel free to convo me in-game or to leave evemails if you have questions, or to leave comments, questions and feedback in this forum thread.

Wow, era did that. As a banker myself i would like to try and reinstall some confidence, this is by far a rare occassion, most of us have more than enough isk to not even warrant thinking about doing this, also selenes selection policy for hiring bankers is quite firm, not just anyone can enlist.
I myself have paid out of pocket for errors, including players through there own stupidity didnt read the igb/motd/oog web, lost isk to scammers(this has now been stopped due to the new way of announcing games and can no longer be a possibility).
Please please please if you are a new player read the info its there for a reason, older players dont get complacent check the motd eah day at login for updates, check the web occasionally too, and lets not let an isolated incident ruin anything. http://oldforums.eveonline.com/?a=topic&threadID=792173&page=2 |

Thanks for the kind words Cetus but these things do unfortunately happen. We'll keep moving ahead and improving our tools on the backend to be more secure and easy to use, and to improve the services and what we can offer to the players. Feedback on the part of the players if, of course, essential to this process. So please speak up even if someone has already made the same comment, I really do like feedback (although 7 convo's at once can be a bit much =D).

Yawn, bump.
Also, our technical back-end issues with keeping track of cashouts is close to having an automated solution. Think a less pretty version of EBANK's automated deposit and withdrawal request form/queue for EOH. We're not going to fully replace normal bankers of course, as people keep things moving a lot faster and are better to deal with, but this should tackle some concerns on the back-end with regards to error, and concerns to you, the players, with regards to quiet or slow periods where a staff member isn't available =)
Full details will be posted here once we take the new system live. I figured a little heads up wouldn't hurt.

I will however respond to all evemails upon my return next Tuesday. Until then I am sure the staff can take care of everything you guys need.

Still offering a scam free alternative.
Chips can be used for all, and any game without penalty of paying rake twice.
Once you've bought your chips (currently 0% rake, normally 5% 1 time rake) you can use them on any of the 4 levels of ring tables, or any available tournament.
Stop by and check out DOA POKER. Stop over paying, for the same service, with LESS protection... See ya there.

I did stop by DOA poker and it was just that DOA(for those that dont know the acronym its stands for Dead On Arrival) for over 4 hours there was no activity during which is normally the busiest time on EOH(19hours a day a can get any game).
Check the channels occasionally and i LOL at your figures highest i seen in your channel recently was 8 and 3 of those were staff.
Now we see your total despiration at trying to hijack selenes thread, face facts DOA poker is DOA you should accept it move along and stop being a jack-ass to a rival, their players and the staff. Or are you just bitter cause your staff are always playing in eoh, kind of tells us how lame your service is

Weve had a few regulars playing on the very high cash table 500mill isk max buyin, Dolye Brunson , Jimmy Moss , Slim , Stu Ungar , Jack Strauss.
One player leaving the table 3bill isk in profit and another leaving 2bill in profit yesterday
Also the high cash table(ring)200mill isk max buyin , Has been busy with regular players and new faces with a regualry full table of 9players. With plenty of players leaving the table from 200mill in profit to making 2bill in profit and more.
Low stakes hold'em( chat channel) is still doing regular single table tourny buyins with games from 28mill buyin to 1.1mill buyins. Most popular games at the mo are "dt" tournamnets with buyins from 28mill to 11mill. dt tounrys is 6players buying in and 1st 2nd and 3rd doubling up.
Eg 11mill dt which is 6players come 1st 2nd or 3rd and youll get 20mill back.
Eve online hold'em(chat channel) also runs regular buyin tournaments and dts from 54mill,105mill and upwards to 1bill+
Still looking for new players for cash games, and tournament players, wether your just want to have some fun playing poker or try and win some isk everyones welcome.
Eve online Hold'em has now made it possible to add poker as a new career path in Eve

Back from my trip, so if there have been any issues or questions that haven't been brought to my attention just get ahold of me via evemail or convo, I should be on for a while tonight to catch up on things.
In my absence Twizzle deployed the first step in our new semi-automated banking system, the withdrawal queue. Both to protect your money from being stolen (large amounts of money in a wallet can tempt otherwise reliable people) and to allow players who want to cashout at quiet times or times when no bankers are around, we now have cashouts requested via an external webpage (very similar to what EBANK does) which ties directly to the Mavens server. This way a limited number of staff have access to reasonable piles of ISK that can be used to cash out Ring winners, with the requests being processed within 24 hours.
We should also be getting an auto-deposit system in shortly, which will allow deposits during the down times if no staff are around. The EVE API takes up to an hour to register though, so live bankers are still preferable over this system -- I really do NOT want to go full automated as it provides crappier service to our clientFle.
Otherwise, work is going on in the background to both provide feedback to make the client more stable and useful in future patches, and to make our own bookkeeping more reliable. I'll also hopefully announce some EOH forum sig graphics that you guys can use (if you would be so kind) once I work with some of the winners from our Logo contest in the next week or two. But I'll announce that when that's ready. Aaaaaand this turned into a full update of our status. Whoops. See you folks at the tables =)
