TTGL is "intentionally corny" (that's how I see/take it anyway), and it really grows on you after a while. ROW ROW FIGHT THE POWER ! DOUBLEplusGood for the lulz.
CG-LotR (heh) is unintentionally corny (blah blah life lesson blah stfu already pansy thoughtmonologues), but it also has its good moments.
P.S. I mean, seriously, intentionally breaking the laws of physics is prime lulz material. That, plus the episode 3 "combine" sequence is EPIC lulz.

I watched a bit on youtube, and couldn't take the silly robots.

I watch Code Geass for the Keikaku Doori and Fabulous.
Though, on rare occasions, it gets good enough to actually take seriously. -

Ok, first off, TTGL is NOT to be watched out-of order, and certainly not on youtube. Hires fansubs ftw.
It introduces just enough suspension of disbelief slowly as it goes on becoming more outrageously ridiculous, so it manages to stay at the same time serious and funny, incredible but still believable. I was left sort of "wtf" by the first episode, the second episode was "meh", but by the time I got to the 3rd episode I couldn't stop watching, and I ended up watching all 27 episoded one after eachother.
The characters are so surreal yet still so human you can't help but feel for them. It was one of the very few movies (and probably the only anime) where I ended up empathizing with the protagonists, to the point of almost loudly cheering or almost shedding a tear, depending on how things were going on.
It's just THAT good. But so over-the-top (pretty much all the time) that scenes taken out of context of the story feel pathetic. You just HAVE to watch it in full, not skip around. Just watch the first 4 eps in good quality back-to-back, then come again and say you DON'T want to watch it all

I'll take you up on this challenge, if it has been subbed properly. Last time I checked, parts had been done by different groups and anons, and no one group had bothered doing the entire thing. -

Has anyone mentioned Soul Eater yet? It's worth watching, even if it's just for the episodes with Excalibur in it. __________________________

OUTLAW STAR!!!
What i liked it reminds me of firefly quite a bit, although i mainly watched it for the combat bits, but some of the funny stuff they did was awsome!
GIAS i just couldnt get into, to much deep boring crap for me, not enough pewpew!
DBZ was ok if you could get past the 5 episodes it took for someone to power up pefore they actually started fighting

Just finished episode three. The only thing which can possibly compensate for this stupidly over the top, needlessly ridiculous, formulaic even by anime standards crap which seems quite happy to gloss over any details which might require a modi****of thought from the writers is that it blatantly doesn't take itself even the slightest bit seriously, and might serve as an amusing self-parody of a failed attempt at writing something which attempts to engage the viewer with anything more than cliches and explosions.
Thus far it has compensated to a degree where I would consider watching another episode, but since a dart thrown at a list of all the anime ever made would have a very good chance of landing on a better anime than this, I may just go watch something else.
One thing I like about anime in general is that even the worst of them try to develop the characters some bit and in doing so make the viewer care somewhat about what is going on. They may fail, but at least they try. This doesn't even try.

I found wolfs rain to be one of the most beautifully depressing pieces of anime I'd ever come across. They played the anime trick of "one long shot of mostly nothing(in wolf rains case it was "walking/running through snow to somewhere better") while overdubbed" to save money + extend time. But other than that, I loved it. ------------------ For Medicinal Use Only. |

P.S. Oh the golden rule of anime is that season three of Samurai X DOES NOT EXIST! Remember this, you will see the dvds they will tempt you but for your sanity resist them they are cursed evil things that will make you kick puppies in the face.

Something from a whole other spectrum this time; Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.
High school anime! OMG!
Okay, those who are still reading this (anyone? ), lemme tell you, its not what you think. It has no plot, nor character developement. Its not about stupid teenage romances, altough its partially about stupid teenage romances. That didn't make any sense, I know. The series doesn't generally make sense either, first seasons is about introducing the characters, on the second season they start despairing more about things that happen around them, eventually questioning the point of the whole show. At which part, even though I am ashamed to admit it; I lol'd irl.
IMO; its brilliant. I can't recommend it to anyone with straight face, but if you decide to watch; DOWNLOAD GOOD QUALITY VERSION. It is truely a visually pleasing show, especially the first episode. _______

oh wow that 3rd episode didn't catch you? guess it's not your style then. Still you should just watch episode 16 the recap episode, it's pretty cool and at least you'll be able to hold your own in a conversation if someone brings it up.

Despite being a response to the wrong post, I actually did watch 3 episodes of TTGL (see above). Geass-style trainwreck, buy Geass only stayed worth watching because it took itself so seriously, a similarly ridiculous anime which lacks even that is pushing it.
Still, I'll keep watching just because I've learned the hard way that watching only a few episodes is a good way to miss out on good anime. -

ok heres mine. I watch pretty much anything. Nearly all are in Japanese with or without subs for the fact that I cannot stand english dubs, but there are a couple that are better in english.
Dont mind the wall of text. Only one I enjoyed the english dub of is NGE. But only for the originals. The new movie is better with Japanese audio.
