Is that like an English dub version of ZNT then? I have to admit, I have trouble imagining that one in English. ____________________

Imagining that one being dubed in english is the same as imagining Excel Saga dubed:
it just can't work at all. ---

No, I just call it Familiar of Zero because that is the English translation of the title, and the Japanese title didn't stick as it was a so-so series to me... sorry about that.
That said, maybe I should get round to watching Series 2...

For great justice
fakeedit: content
Has anyone watched Blade of the Immortal or Spice and Wolf?
First is some reasonably plotless killfest, the guy is held together by magic worms, and must kill 1000 baddies before he can die (or something).
Spice and Wolf is a slow love story between a travelling merchant and a wolf deity's human incarnation, sadly only 13 episodes, though a 2nd season is planned. |

I dreaded the Blade of the Immortal anime, as I really like the manga - and after a few episodes, I had to stop watching. It's nowhere near as good as the manga, and they made the manji character all wrong
I wouldn't recommend it.

I have found a new anime series of quality that i can safely recommend:
Monster
74 episodes of pure character and plot awesomness (I haven't finished tbh, I'm on episode 45) it is also the most realistic anime i've seen so far (no weird animesc bull) if only a fraction of the tv/movie dramas were half as good |

The girl who leapt through time If you liked 5cm/s you'll like this one too. Its not as good overall, but has more interesting concept (imo).
Other than that, I have nothing I could recommend. And believe me, I'v been browsing alot of stuff. It's all been crap so far, sigh... /me goes back to reading books. |

Add the following to my list that can be found here.
Phantom The Animation - The story is really nice but unfortunatley at the end it feels as if half of the story hasnt been told.
Full Metal Panic - Good story with a bit of romance and a lot of guns and fun.
KimiKiss Pure Rouge - Pure romance packed in a good story.
The place promised in our early days - Interresting story
Personally im looking forward to watch xxxHoliC and Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle. Im reading both Mangas and im currently waiting for the next Vol.¦s to be released. And from friends i have only heard good about both Animes. I have just purchased the xxxHolic/Tsubasa Chronicle Limited edition DVD set witch contains the movies from both series.
For the ppl who are searching for good website where you can watch a lot of subbed Anime-series for free, i have added a link to my older post. |

did you check out fantastic children?
just look at who made it, it deserves more credit than it gets. One of things that in japan is huge but in america no one noticed because it doesn't have enough pointy chins and mechs.

FFS.... The thread that just won't die.
Here's an anime reccommendation for you - stop fecking about and watch something with a decihperable plot and some real-life action for a change.
I suppose anime is a bit like chess or excessive ************; you either get it or you don't. Personally I don't.
I am fully aware of the concept of willing suspension of disbelief, but even I can't stretch quite that far.
It's not big, and it's not clever, time to grow up little boys.

Granted.
I enjoy a nice, gentle strum to <deleted for reasons of taste and decency>, segueing neatly into a frantic <deleted for reasons of taste and decency>, usually followed by a <deleted for reasons of taste and decency>, after which it takes me quite a while to collect myself, so to speak.
Oddly enough I don't feel the need to post 7 pages about it on the EVE forums.
I have a horrible, sneaking suspicion that anyone who has actually contributed to this thread thus far is probably aware of any of the reccommendations likely to be made by other posters which makes this, in effect, one big circle jerk for fans of doe-eyed, east/eur-asian (thanks George), under-age cartoon slappers with limited intellect and predictable responses to hackneyed plot devices and improbable dialogue.
...or am I missing something here?

Let me get something correct... you basically came into this thread to complain about people liking anime? And the fact it has a thread on the forums?
These aren't your forums, and this isn't your thread... How about you just don't post unless you have something constructive to say.
Now back to topic.... Another I would recommend is Mnemosyne no Musumetachi. I think this one was overlooked, at least I had never heard of it until recently. Its different, and geared toward older audiences IE: the exact opposite of what Jago outlined in his posts.

You are correct; these aren't my forums and this isn't my thread.
However, this has never stopped anyone in the past and is unlikely to stop them in the future.
These are also not your forums and this isn't your thread either; I'll post what and where I please (always subject to moderation natch).
Whether or not you view what I say as constructive or not is irrelevant, I have as much right to a voice here as any, and I chose to exercise that right in my original comment regarding a recommendation for anime. The fact that I'm coming at things from a slightly different angle to most folk who necro this thread from time to time is also irrelevant.
Given that my experience of anime is, by choice, admittedly somewhat limited, I am delighted to hear that it isn't all incomprehensible plots and thinly disguised, badly animated kiddie-****, and, if I find myself with a spare hour or two with nothing on the idiot-box I might even follow your recommendation and check out Mnemosyne no Musumetachi.... possibly.... sometime soon.... probably shortly before Satan starts skating to work.
In other news, Valdez charged with multiple counts of Taking Himself Too Seriously, Possession of Bad Politics and a Lack of Goodwill towards his fellow man.

Back on topic, Chrome Shelled Regios seems pretty good so far.
Another one that I have watched a few eps of is Platinumhugen Ordian, story is so far a little lacking, it just keeps hinting at some mystery. Some of the character art is just bizarre and doesn't fit with the majority of it at all (if you watch a few episodes you will know what I mean). |

Bumping this to try and keep it alive and prevent duplicate anime threads:
Anyone looked at Ride Back? Watched it recently, and apart from some very unsubtle and somewhat unnecessary plot devices in episode 7 has been pretty solid so far. Central to the plot are motorcycles with arms that can switch to a humanoid form.

reviving this thread and posting my watch list for spring season which starts april 2nd.
I watch live/raws. It looks like subs are going to be a problem for some of these so keep that in mind before taking a look at them. I have considered doing TL work for some of these, but i have a hell of a course load right now.
