Think about this for one second. If this dude did kill himself, and his family/loved ones discovered that he had been mocked publicly and someone encouraged others to harrass him at a CCP event, what do you think this would do to their public image.
Doesn't matter if the guy meant it or not, Suicide is not funny, despite what the internet hardmen/spegers think. |

Yeah, you got me. I missed servers and website. He is still gone though regardless of what any CCP document might say.
In fact I'm gunna go out on a limb here and predict that the video of him saying what he said ends up on national news within 48 hours. Probably less actually. I wonder if its sunk in for him yet just exactly what he's done to himself. I've seen the video, and it looks bad, real bad, and its gunna look even worse once they edit it. |

Ummm.... no? I had tremendous respect for Mittani the Great until he decided to undone EVERYTHING he has accomplished in a single day.
He is eloquent and he definitely knows how to command crowds. He's probably the top pick for CCP as CSM Chair until he decided to incite thousands of others to provoke a known suicidal to commit suicide.

There is a significant difference in the two scenarios.
To put them into alignment, in your example, the bank would actively be taunting the person who feels upset over the foreclosure.
So, after the bank does the foreclosure and you threaten to kill yourself the bank comes back to you and starts telling you that you should. Then, the bank actively enlists the 'support' of other banks and other institutions to all send 'encouragement' to you to kill yourself.
In your friend's situation, it is the same thing, you did not start messaging the ex-boyfriend with messages to 'go ahead and kill yourself' instead you supported your friend in their decision to leave without further disturbing the ex.
The line that got crossed isn't so much that someone claimed that they would kill themselves it is the active encouragement to do so and the soliciting of others to encourage it as well.

So now all a player has to do to avoid facing consequences for being scammed is claim they are suicidal? What about losing a ship in a fight...what if that makes somebody suicidal?
