I guess Alex Gianturco has learned a few things here like not appearing on public worldwide TV drunk and that there is a limit to how far you can take the meta-gaming and ingame character. I do hope he survive this storm as CSM chair. He did stupid but he also got 10k votes and I believe he is good for the game. Good luck The Mittani.

Notrollzone: I honestly don't like Mittens that much, in the real world he's a bit of a hoity toity elitist snob, his jokes fall flat and outside of story time he's not a particularly good public speaker. But in spaceships the man gets results as both the leader of a major Powerbloc and as the head of the CSM. He virtually works magic in seeing the potential in others and putting it right where it can do the most good. Frankly we're just milking as much effectiveness as we can out of the man before he has a complete meltdown goes fuckgoons and disbands the alliance. Probably tomorrow when he logs in.

Mittens really does seem to feel bad about what he said though, he certainly wasn't intending to give out the guy's character name (the slide didn't have it), much less suggest anyone try to get him to commit suicide. Character names of other players were included in the slides of other presentations in the alliance panel, so I guess CCP isn't worried about that, but Mittens seemed genuinely shocked that he'd even jokingly suggested people try to get someone to commit suicide when he found out what he'd said. The only part of this I've seen him even remotely blame on the alcohol is not remembering it happening Don't worry though, the rest of the goons still think this is completely overblown, especially with the guy seemingly fine and not really bothered by what was said. We continue to be the online assholes we've always been.

Not all PR is good. Agreed on the part concerning the issue becoming known in the gaming community. However he is already in the process of removing himself as chairman. More importantly, this will actually serve to enhance EVEs reputation as a harsh and dangerous place... likely resulting in an increase in subscriptions. I'm not judging by making that statement, just stating an opinion based on past observation. When I check troll in the dictionary, it has a photo shopped picture of you standing somewhere in the vicinity of a point. Also, I can kill you with my brain.

Also it should be noted that molle did tell us to go die in video format during the Bob BBQ. But that's a bit of a weak equivalence. I'm willing to bet you can find more than one threat or bits of reveling in real life harms and death that have occurred to various goons if you dug into the forums a bit.

People have threatened goons, and there families many times IRL. , your example litterally happened, Molle did say he wanted all goons who showed up to his BBQ to die. In real life. **, read this thread you will see people threaten goons. Generally they laugh it off. After all the internet is serious business. I think the founder of the website proclaimed himself the "King of e-Threats" for the number of death threats he has received. Gaming media COULD be more specific I guess, but The Wis' overall indifference to the whole thing (and Mittens' apology both to him and in public) makes it dead before it got started, since once The Wis is gone, you've really got nothing beyond either blurfing about how Eve is a mean game (in other news, the sky is blue) or trying to take the words of players with agendas as transparent as can be (in other words, Eve political stuff). The only thing major that CCP is going to change about this will be a lot of procedural stuff for the next fanfests (more in-depth presentation vetting, reserving the right to not let someone present if they're too drunk/high/whatever). If Mittens leaves either the CSM or just the Chair, it'll be his own doing and nobody else's.
