I couldn't find anything on this in this thread so,
Any reason why you don't compile it for PPC? I have an old iBook (thus with ppc proc) with leopard, but it says my architecture isn't supported.
Any chance there will be a universal binary?

I might think that a PPC version is rather odd since EVE(wrapped) is a Intel only App.

you could get the source http://ceres.doesntexist.org/src/ and xcode and compile it your self, it might work.

Eehh.. yeah I run eve on my PC, but I would like to do some metagaming on my iBook while not at home ;).

Problem is that I don't have much space left for the gazillion gig that xcode needs. (poor old 40GB ibook)

Unless you are using some stuff that is not supported on PPC (I do not see why you would need that), it could make sense. The EvE client is for the game, Ceres is for meta game. I can see a lot of people wanting to use an old PPC portable to do skill planning and similar stuff while they only use a newer Mac Pro or iMac (or even a PC) at home to play.
The demand for an iPhone version of similar tools would be on the same line of thought.

For iPhone apps you could also look at capsuleer and iClone. Capsuleer looks great, not yet much features, but they are on the way. iClone looks great too, has much more functionality no skillplanning (yet). The creator of iClone is also busy making a osX version by the way.

Edited by: Aurora Morgan on 03/03/2009 00:27:43 No, there is no real reason why it's not an universal binary.
I just turned it off at one time to boost the compilation performance, I'll fix it soon.
I think I published a tarball with the latest code, just add the ppc architecture to the options. Otherwise there is a slightly untested version at http://github.com/JensNockert/ceres/tree/master
Thanks for reminding me to fix that.
Edit: Added git url.

Just to let you know:
Ceres 0.0.13 Pre-Alpha is still only an intel app.

Pre-Alpha 2 should be universal though. (We tested it on a G4.)
But beware that if you use it, you won't get an autoupdate to the 0.0.13 when I release it.

Beside the version issue mentioned, I seem to be getting different partially skills trained being highlighted. From comparing in-game to Ceres, Ceres is highlighting many more skills as partial. I don't see a pattern, either by Rank or Level. How is partial determined?
I'll be able to test the bad clone in the next few days!

Doh, lots of stuff to remember :(
It should highlight if you just trained one extra sp, I don't really know how it works in game.

Thanks for making it a universal bin.
Two bugs: 1. I have 2 new chars (<900k sp) which have approx. -2M SP for some reason. 2. If you have the character window open and do "View>Show Server status" it toggles the tabs. Probably no check for which is the active window.
1 feature: 1. Please make the drop-down menus in the preferences readonly, looks much nicer.

Could I please have some more information about number one, please? I'll fix number 2 soon(tm)

Don't think I understand. No point to have preferences you can't change, right?

0.0.13.1 is available.
Fixes some minor bugs (about changing between tabbed/window mode, the highlighting and I _THINK_ I fixed the skills disappearing bug.) Added images for the skill groups, please send tips on other images if you find any better ones. I just quickly looked through the image dump.

I'm pretty sure he means that right now, you can type anything you want into the preference boxes. He's asking you to make it so that you can't type into the boxes, only choose something from the list.

To characters of mine have <900 sp, though Ceres shows them as having minus two billion something skillpoints. As you can see it's even worse than I thought. ;)
edit: Bit of fiddling around it turns out that your Int has collapsed. If I add the number of skillpoints the character has to the absolute value that Ceres gives me, I end up with with the equivalent of 2^31 leaving the 32th bit for the minus ;)

He means you can do this:
http://img530.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pref.png
:)
Edit: Something I would like to see is to have a selectable character window open when you open Ceres. Also, the initial character selection window is a bit redundant if you use the tabbed mode, so a way to start with it hidden might be useful (with a way to bring it back if you close it, as I can't seem to find one now).
Finally, maybe use some form of indicator on character tabs showing which one is training? Not necessarily showing what they are training, just that they are. An idea anyway, I can see that addressed in multiple ways.
Oh, and a bug I noticed. If you are using the Tabbed setting, and have the detailed character window active; the "Show Server Status" option is enabled and makes the tab part of the window slide in and out when you click it. Nifty feature, but I don't think it's intended to happen if you pick that particular option from the dropdown menu. :)

Ok, can fix that I guess.

Save which windows were open the last time? Does that sound like a good compromise?

Might add that, but probably not really soon.

Any Apochribba problems? (Other than new strategic cruiser skills, I know they are missing.)
I am intending to push a new version as soon as I get some information on what needs to get fixed and I got the new datadump.

Wonderful,
btw. There doesn't seem to be an api-method for the skill queue, so there will not be any support for that in Ceres. At least not right now.
