EVE Online: Apocrypha 1.0.2 has been successfully deployed on Tranquility and we are now open for business. This patch focuses on fixes for the skill queue, epic mission arcs, user interface and much more. For a more comprehensive list of what has been added and fixed, please check the patch notes.
Please use this thread to list any issues, if any, that you have discovered and our team will continue to monitor Tranquility until we're fully satisfied that any issues have been resolved.
We would encourage anyone who is experiencing any game play issues to submit a bug report and we will investigate the matter as soon as possible.

Edited by: Tipsy on 26/03/2009 12:58:28 The patch-downloader and the patch both fail with Error Code 29. This seems to be related to lack of hard drive space (I had only 80MB free on my C partition, where EVE is installed). This plagued me during the first Apocrypha patch, where I made as much space as the installer said it needed (plus about 100MB) and it still failed.
Downloading the whole patch and installing (edit: after making sure it had plenty of space) worked fine, but the error message could be a little more descriptive. -- Tipsy XFI Chief of Staff |

DL'd and installed the patch on OSX. All I get is a white screen, which I suspect is the login screen given how the cursor reacts when I mouse over the appropriate areas. Going to reinstall, if you don't hear back it worked.

I try to patch but i get a program error just before download. Updated my firewall today (zonealarm) so that could be the problem but i would like to know if i'm the only one with this.
Plenty disk space left and i can download everything else without a problem.

80mb? u need a minimum of 200mb just for virtual memory........... uninstall any software u have no use for.... delete your old **** movies (once u have backed them up on dvd or external drive) and clear out the temp folders.... if none of the above works buy a bigger hard disk.... a 1tb hard drive is less than Ç100 these days

You lot really are the most stupid bunch of fuk-ups around.
Yet AGAIN, your worthless auto-patcher has decided my installation (new as of the expansion) is corrupt and I must download the patch manually. Next, yet again, the patch has crc error and doesnt match. So i'm told to download the WHOLE fuking game yet again. Is this where I will have the same fuking problem as the last time? Will it take 9 full 1.9gb downloads with crc errors, trying various workarounds to get it to work?
YOU FUKING KNEW YOU HAD A PROBLEM WITH IT, YOU FUKING KNEW THAT PLENTY OF PLAYERS SUFFERED THE CRC ERROR AND INSTALLATION CORRUPT ERROR BEFORE AND STILL YOU FUKING REPEAT THE SAME BUL**** OVER AGAIN.
And now I've had my hissy fit, I can relax in the knowledge I was clever enough to set off a 30 day skill because I knew you lot were idiots enough to repeat the same errors.

You dont have a problem? How nice for you, time for you to go play the game .. tata
As for the bad language? Made me feel better so thats alright then and CCP certainly dont listen to reason, the dont listen at all in fact. They knoew full well that they had an issue before, they DIDNT try to fix it, they left it to the community to fix it, as will happen again. Why will it happen again? Because really dont give a damn as long as the majority are fine.

Engine and warp sound worked Laser sound is completly removed now, no matter which angle i look at my ship....fail still this annoying "knackknack" from the speakers, first heard now as the blood raider cathedral went to dust.

Try using a download manager. I was getting ~150kb/s when downloading the installer, now i max out my connection at 800kb/s. My personal preference is Orbit, but i guess any would do that supports multi threaded download.

When you warp in a pod, the warp tunnel is perpendicular to the direction of travel.
Using the low shader setting, gates only seem to appear once you arrive at them - sort of pop into existence.
At a POS, the tower was not being rendered at some distances.
Just things I've noticed so far.

OK. The only issues I have found (which i thought were going to be fixed). Sounds. I now cannot hear laser beam fire from my current ship at all, even if I the camera is totally close up. I can hear enemy turret fire but not my laser beams. Also enemy ship explosions are barely hearable or not at all if the camera is 20kms or more away. This needs to be sorted as missions become a bit more complicated for me as I hope you can understand. Thank you for listening CCP.

Autopatch failed.
Manual patch doesn't work since autopatch modified files.
I'm a bit disheartened that I must now spend a majority of my play time today, and likely for the next several days, reinstalling and reconfiguring the game, getting my UI windows just the way I want them, and generally making EVE a playable experience again.
If I may be so bold as to make a suggestion, perhaps CCP could develop a tool that can check game files and replace corrupted ones individually with the correct version. Such a feature is available in several other games, preventing customers from having to reinstall the software repeatedly. Also, if some developer had the foresight to realize that occasionally the autopatcher fails, perhaps some code could be implemented for a failed autopatch to undo its own changes, so a subsequent attempt to manually patch will not fail due to files "corrupted" by the autopatch attempt. -- EVE Review |

I am sure that you will say that this is a client error, but before you do.....my driver's are up to date, I had no problem before the Apocrypha patch and all the other games I play work fine.

I still cannot hear weapon and warp sounds if I'm not right on top of my ship. Zoom out just a little and it very quickly fades to nothing.
Here's an idea: 100% zoomed gives 100% sound volume, 50% zoomed in gives 50% sound volume, 100% zoomed out gives 0% sound volume.
Don't have to thank me, I know I'm awesome

well it was reported on 2 issue threads for the main expansion issues, and reported on 1.01 patch issues but still never got fixed.
when recalling drones 1 or 2 may return and the rest will abandon themselves, only way to retrieve is to manually fly over to them and scoop which is a pain in the ass especially since speed was nerfed on bs's so slowboating out 80k or so in a mission to pick up drones is extremely annoying.
only workaround I can find and it's now 100% is tell drones return and orbit then wait till they return and are clos then click return to drone bay.
bug is still there

I'm pleased to report that my anticipated reconfiguration of game settings did not come to pass. It seems CCP has made progress in this department, so I salute you! The 2GB download of the full build was still a bit tedious, however, and I still maintain that some tweaking of the autopatcher and/or a file checking utility could alleviate these problems. -- EVE Review |

Attempted to use the auto patcher.
The patcher ran, apparently successfully, until the Eve autostart. The program failed to open, and when I attempted to manually open the client, I recieved an error message citing a corrupt client.
I attempted to install the full client as instructed, and was greeted with a currupt client error when attempting to start the manually downloaded client. This is the second time that the patcher has caused this issue. Until the new download utility, I had never had a patch fail. |

I manually downloaded the right patch for my pre-last-update install .dmg, and it didn't work either. The same "corrupted" message came up. Currently downloading the updated client which (hopefully) will work. In a few hours, mind, the download is maxing out at 45kbs....

The current sound system, or lack of one, is a feature. It is not a bug. Sound has been removed. (And no I don't know why.)
Well, I don't know if this is true or have any clue about the source of this information. All I can say is that the gaming experience is no good as it is currently. Now, there's lots of people who think the same way but if this is actually a feature, please let us know somewhere accessible to public. i have the same problem, also when i look at other ships i can see there mining lasers but not the ships. apart from that, the sound is better and having the screen shake back when going in and out of warp is good.

Patched 15 clients. Went fine.
Sound is STILL not fixed. You no longer get blasted in a station, but I am STILL unable to hear weapon sounds/impacts if I scroll out at all.
If someone at CCP likes it this way, then make it a ****ing option so they can turn it on. This is really starting to **** me off.
Sound is integral to how this game works(Contrary to all the noobs out there who play without sound). I can't hear when I'm being locked, I can't hear when I'm being shot at, I can't hear when my weapons hit, I can't hear who's webbing me, I can't hear who's scramming me, I can't hear ANYTHING to do with combat unless I'm zoomed in so far that all I can see is my own ship.

I've tried patching 3 separate clients and all of them get a message of: Client files don't match the files in the update.
This indicates that your installation is corrupt. Please reinstall EVE Online.
This is pretty bad because I've never had 3 "corrupt" installations before and if it's a hard drive space related issue then the patcher needs to report this as I've got 2.63gb free on my C (OS) partition and 1.67 gb on my D (game) partition.
Also, the patch download notifier doesn't recenter itself when you switch into and out of full-screen mode. I run 3 client installations in window'd mode and while two of them run fine one has been loading up with the client window significantly off-screen. So off-screen, in fact, that I can't see it much less move it. After pressing alt-enter twice to switch into and out of full-screen mode to get the client window to properly display (which I have to do everytime I run the client) the Yes/No dialog box for patching is significantly off-screen too.
Not as bad as the client after initial loading as I can interact with it, but only part of the "No" button is displayed and the only "interaction" I can do with it is to click on it, drag it half a centimeter, and repeat the process, and it only moves left/right. It took approximately 10 click/drags to get the "Yes" button to appear and even then I couldn't read the patch message as I couldn't drag the window "down."
Also, while I was writing this post I downloaded and tested the full patch from a stand-alone install file (IOW, the non-log-into-the-game-and-go-through-the-auto-patch-process method) and had the same results as the auto-patch. It's really pretty annoying since this is 3 separate installations I'm having the 'files don't match' issue with and all things considered this situation should be virtually impossible as I've done exactly nothing that could compromise the integrity of the files in all of my installations. This possibility is slightly more likely because a fresh install from the Apocrypha release installer was patched properly but I still find it very suspicious. ____________________

the autodownloader/patcher failed with "status file not found". So i started eve again, but this time the patcher simply stopped doing anything, i had to kill it. Finally i downloaded the manual patch, but it doesn't want to run anymore, says "unknown patching error".
why on earth did you get rid of the old patch mechanism? it worked perfectly, even with wine! Now if you don't remember to cancel the broken patcher, you end up with a destroyed eve installation. thanks for nothing...

reinstall client into another location, launch the client to see if everything is alright. Next, take the common.ini and the libs/stdlib.ccp from the working copy and place them into your old eve installation. Restart your rig, mine started but minimized the client instantaneous without reboot. After reboot: Profit!

Well, this officially sucks. My installation is royally screwed, so I'll need to reinstall the whole thing.
What happened is the following: 1) Start EVE Online 2) Download patch application 3) Start patch application 4) Patch application crashes before downloading something 5) Repeated steps 3 & 4 three times with same result 6) Rebooted computer 7) Start EVE Online 8) Download patch application 9) Start patch application 10) Patch application downloads files and starts installing, but exits with a 'patch failed, download manual patch'. 11) Download manual patch 84609 -> 85476 12) Start manual patch, but it fails with a file mismatch. 13) Start EVE Online, but it fails with a file mismatch, telling me to reinstall the client
The computer (home built from A brand components): - CPU: AMD 4200+ S939(stock speed) - Motherboard: nForce 4 based S939 - Memory: 4GB (stock speed) - GPU: 8600GT 512 MB (stock speed) - OS: Windows XP Professional SP3 32bit (3 month old install)
I'm not sure what the benefit of the new download / patch method is to you, but it only seems to bring a lot of grief to your customers without any tangible benefits for them. This is not the first time it caused me trouble and I am not the only one with problems. You might want to consider switching back to your old patch process until you have the problems with this one sorted out.

Has been mentioned before in this thread by different people, but for your comfort repeated: - After a while in space (10 minutes?) some stations/gates do not show up until 10 seconds after being right in front you. - Uncloaking and entering warp results in your ship vanishing, then reappearing a couple seconds after (same issue as above)

All of the errors ARE on topic you moron.
They have a list of the errors because this is the same problem they had with the SiSi Apoc patch and they didnt NOTHING to resolve it. So after Apoc release when they still had this problem they still did NOTHING. Now you would have thought they would have learnt from this but they didnt do anything about it. They didnt find a fix, they didnt find what causes it because they simply dont care. Do you understand that part? They simply dont give a fuk about the player base that has these errors. They are hoping that the workaround that players made after the apoc release will work again. Mitnal and Navigator are too busy playing with their goats to give a fuk. Well actually, they do give a fuk but only as far as goats are concerned.

Edited by: Ryan Brabovski on 26/03/2009 19:13:35 I submitted a bug report, but I feel that I should post this here too.
Weapon cycling is broken. It's actually more broken now. When you hit f1-fx to cycle all your weapons, the crosshair that comes up does not actually follow your cursor. Further, if you try to cycle your weapons and get rid of the crosshair (so you dont accidentally target something by clicking on it) by clicking on your own ship, a distant stargate, etc, it will say you can't target the item and then it will turn off your modules. What it should do, of course, is remove the crosshair, but keep your modules cycled so that the next time you target something, they will activate right away.
Please fix this, it's making station camping and gatecamping much more irritating :P

Autopatching fails. Luckily CCP made me learn in previous patches to ALWAYS create a backup before installing a new patch.
Patch error : Client files don't match the files in the update. This indicated that your installation is corrupt. Please reinstall EVE online.
Since i am clearly not the only one i suggest this would be seen as a highly serious matter. It has repeated itself in previous patched and i bet that no other games have this kind of behaviour during updates. Please fix it without having to reinstall and RECONFIGURE (GRRRRRR).
Thanks for the improvements.

Since the Patch I seem to have no gun sounds at all, I can hear NPC guns but my own guns even at max zoom are silent Also ship explosions are bugged, everytime something explodes i hear a loud crack out of my speakers but almost no explosion
I have to agree with a lot of others the sound system needs to be looked at And to be honnest I would not mind haveing the old system back or atleast make the gun sounds die out at further ranges
I apreciate the efforts to make the sounds better but when it fails its "back to the drawing board" The Firebringer |

You know what? Yeah he's ranting but I totally understand. All it would take.. and this isn't really asking much.. is to 1. update the freakin known issues thread so users don't keep wasting their time submitting duplicate bug reports 2. Throw us a bone. A single "we know there are issues with the patcher, we're working on it please bear with us" would probably defuse tensions almost immediately.
Instead CCP makes a thread, never replies, and only pokes their head out to delete posts from irate users.
TBH, Annoing gave me a chuckle with his self-professed emorage goat rant :)

Installed with zero problems.
Sound effects are still very low to non existant (which is anoying).
With low settings, gates do not always rendered when you warp onto them, or after a jump. They load after a few seconds or if I zoom in on them.
Ships "disappears" sometimes when entering warp, reappears after few seconds.

This is a lie. Or it was simply untested. Either way, it is disheartening to see. The installer quite happily deletes the payload of the patch... in this case the 21MB downloaded, then you hit Next and it has a box there about cleaning up the downloaded files. Sure is fun downloding the patch multiple times for the other install directories :-( or spending the time figuring out where the files are kept and catching them before they get deleted.

I received the error message about game files not matching patch files reload the whole shebang as reported here.
Not going to happen - have download limits on my ISP.
Agree that the patch should be clever enough to replace those supposedly corrupt files. I have the Steam version of the original install if relevant.
The game seems to be running OK - if it dies in the ditch I will go play something else that works - hope it doesn't come to this but I don't have time to spend hours / days to fix something that is obviously a development issues given the other posts here.

No real problems downloading/installing patches, but since latest patch lost all sound for weapons, target lock or being targetted, and sounds when activating module buttons (i.e mining laser or weapons). Also when leaving Station whilst looking back at ship the station is not there (briefly) then appears once ship is fully in space.

- The ship graphics occasionally disappear. Only the moving parts like the radar on the Catalyst stay visible. - The blaster turret sounds are gone. The railguns turret can be heard occasionally. - The acceleration gates cannot be heard. - Timers around buttons do not always show and only the glow is visible. - The mouse pointer constantly keeps dragging a label around on the screen, i.e. with my name on it.
The little patch sucks badly for me. No more of this, please. -- If there is anything in your life you fear of losing, then keep your mouth shut once in a while. |

Edited by: Laeris Evanstar on 26/03/2009 22:51:08 My medium energy weapons have no sound. I can zoom in to inside my ship and turn my speakers up so high that paint chips fall off my ceiling from the bass-tones in the space wind going past...but my 8 medium lasers make no sound at all.
Options in audio settings are unchecked for suppress turrets.
Also, mining laser 2 modules have no sound. Strip miners are ok. Can hear those just fine. Have not tried Miner 1s.
Mining drones have no animation effects or sound whatsoever. Other drones are fine (my ECM, armor/shield repair and assorted combat drones are fine on sound and effects).
My Typhoon Battleship's large guns sound like champagne corks now...not 1400mm artillery....unless I zoom my camera into the breech of said guns then they sound like muskets at 500 yards range.
Suggestion in addition to fixing the above: Please reduce the sound at the warp gate when you warp out by about 50%. Entirely too loud. From having to turn up my sound to hear anything else, when I hit the gate my teeth rattle and my 2 English bulldogs think Armageddon is nigh and hide under the bed.

Confirming serious issues with patching.
- Autopatching failed (just as Apo did). - Manual patching failed (just as Apo did). - Downloaded full new build. I'm lucky to have a decent inet connection (20 mins. download), but there must be plenty of ppl less lucky. - Installing full build failed. Still corrupt blah blah. - Backupped settings, uninstalled entire game (just as I did with Apo). - Installed full build. Installer mentioned a 'CRC failed' and I shivered, but everything seemed to work OK. - Restored backupped settings. Game runs OK with my original settings.
Please, CCP, I urge you to take these issues seriously and, as many others already mentioned, invest in creating a working installer with, at the very least, a rollback-on-failure function so that the entire game doesn't get corrupted beyond repair if patching fails. Having to download a full build and un/reinstalling after every patch as the ONLY way to get it to work is really unacceptable in this day and age. Thank you.

I'm on a Mac, and in contrast to some other reports it autopatched fine, no white screen -- flawless.
But I can confirm one user's report that damage made and received is now reported oddly. It always says "scratched" or "barely scratched", even if you did wrecking damage.
Another thing I noticed is that when you show the route you'd have to fly for a contract on the map, and hover the cursor over systems on that route, the route dissapears.
Sound still odd, sometimes I can hear my rails, other times I don't, if I zoom out completely and zoom back in, sound is back to normal.
Salvager still does this cracking sound.

AT LEAST a public apologize or something similar would be NICE to those of us that had to spend HOURS downloading the 2GB of the full offline client due to YOUR developers and testers not being able to do their JOB (again).
Thanks and take it as you want, but its the last time i go through this.

Pods warp tunnel goes the wrong direction, lol. Not sure if any other ships have this problem?
Also, the Hyperion's textures are still super low rez since apocrytha - as mentioned in the feedback thread. And shadows still look like pixilated crap, and pale in comparison to what used to be the 'extreme' setting, which i miss oh so much. :p

I'm getting crashes after patching too. It seems to happen when I'm in the fitting screen. Windows Vista reports "data execution prevention" error. Seems to think CCP is trying to run malicious code.
Also getting the disappearing ship model. Seems to happen when I zoom in while warping. that's it so far, but that's less than a half hour online.
I agree with others: no need to rant, but CCP feedback is important. At least if there were a visible list of bugs, we'd know we weren't crazy. We might even be able to help you figure out solutions. I work in a company that has a call center for customer support. If you want to decrease the call volume and email volume (and ranting), you must communicate, educate, inform. Anyway, let's see if I can manage to get my ship refitted without crashing. |

Sound problems persist even after the patch. 1)Acceleration Gates' and stations' sound is lower and the world sound seems ok at first but if you stay for too long around the acceleration gate during a mission all you can hear is a low pitch bass line that covers everything Put the old sound back!Honestly i can settle for less quality as long as it is proper! 2)Drones not returning properly. A workaround i found is to have them attack something and then recall them. Again i don't get why should we even bother inventing a workaround for anything.Extensive testing people! 3)Label of various objects in a mission won't go away even if i select anything else.

Directional Scanner Issues: - resizing is an issue, it way too big, was great before - can't get ship or object info by pressing right click - sorting gets reset after each scan - can't remove objects by pressing right click - you guys must have gotten so excited about the new probe scan menu your developer forgot about the already great features that the D-scan had!!!
Sound issues are silly, and you know what they are unless these threads are nothing more than 'vent' threads. At least for the love of god acknowledge that sound is broken and you guys are trying to fix it.
Other than that, everything is running great and i love the expansion!!

Got a few issues here.
*cant disable shadows
*can no longer hear my mining lasers AT ALL, also cant hear when an enemy strikes me(no mater how far i zoom in).
*my mining drones no longer have the mining laser effect (and i really liked that little addition).
*when i mouse over something the tag stays with my cursor which is highly annoying.
Thats all i can think of atm. On the sound issue it seems that many people, including myself, are very displeased with it. Maybe consider adding an option to go back to the old sound system for those of us the want to.

I can no longer get past the character selection screen. I was in station, went to refit my ship, opened the fitting window, and not only did the client crash, it locked up my system. That was a few days ago. Since then, my system locks up when the "entering station" status bar is close to completion. I petitioned from the character selection screen, which I'm sure has been answered, but as I can't get into the game, I have no idea what it might be. I also submitted a bug report, followed by DXD report. I'll wait another week for an answer, then I guess I'll have to cancel my subscription, although giving up 4 years time spent building a character is a bit disheartening.

We had this problem on test a few weeks back. First try to see if you can log on another character. If so set a short cut for "Exit Station" in the Short-cuts menue. (Hit esc. once in game and tab over.)
For the character that's stuck: when you get to the black "entering station bar," and it seems to stop moving, hit esc. on your key board. This should clear the loading bar. Then hit your short cut key to "exit station." This should push you outside. If problem persists, log in space. I hope this works for you.
Cheers Meridus.

Here we go again; trying to install on windows side only.
Rig stats: Dual core Hybrid HP DV6000 laptop (15" screen, not the 17" version) OS 1: 32 bit Linux Fedora 9 (if you think 32 bit is bad, try installing any linux flavor on a HP laptop) OS 2: 64 bit Vista Ultimate SP1 Nvidia video card with latest drivers
Steps taken (windows side only) 1: auto patching - crc fail 2: downloaded offline installer - crc fail 3: downloaded full build - crc fail 3a - 3h: downloaded full build - crc fail 4: uninstalled client (as that worked for the initial Apoc release) 5: downloaded offline installer - crc fail 5a - 5d: downloaded full build - crc fail
I will wait until this weekend to try again as I have spent a great deal of time downloading fail after fail thus far, and yes I understand that 250,000 peeps are trying to download at the same time. Insert witty pun here |

I hope that you will have the politness to reply to points raised in this thread.
Seconded. I understand that creating a game is difficult since I made one myself. But please test stuff more deeper before deploying.
It's a big releave that you lowered the sound of the acceleration gates, but now I have absolutly no turret sounds at all on my own ships (I can hear the enemies turrets, though not very loud)
Same goes for explosion etc, it was all much more better and has given a great game atmoshere before the patch. Some of the explosion just sound like a silent "pffft" fart right next to you, not to mention that the removal of the screen flashing is also a step back :(
Please think about that and revamp the sound system for good. In my opinion, space "realism" is secondary, game experience and the fun with it must have priority.
Thanks.

Come on people, do you really think that CCP is going to admit that they've f*cked up? They are giving us the normal treatment where they sit with their eyes closed, hands over their ears and saying "lalalalala" and hoping that the community would finally stop bothering them if ignored long enough..
F*cking great customer service when they won't even bother to write ONE post where they say that our concerns are being addressed! (Probably takes too much time and, heaven forfend, might actually make CCP appear to actually listen to the worries of the community, instead of being typical greedy company who chant "moar money! moar money! f*ck the community").
Guess what, quite many ppl are finally coming to the end of their endurance and leaving eve because the "silent treatment" and "moar flashy-things and eyecandy that appeal to the WoW converts" (and at the end the new effects are f*cked up anyways) instead of fixing what the community has been voicing concerns for MONTHS OR YEARS!..
ONE SINGLE POST where they address the community and say that they're working on it would suffice, but nooo.. F*ck the community..

06:28:48 Combat Your Amarr Navy Tachyon Beam Laser barely scratches Supreme Alvus Parasite, causing 3008.7 damage.
If that's "barely scratches" I can't wait til I get a wrecking hit...
In all seriousness though, every hit is "barely scratches". I haven't yet seen a "(Wrecking!)" hit though I'm not sure if that's just because I've been unlucky.
Prior to 1.0.2 all the damage notifications were stuck in simple mode, now post 1.0.2 they're stuck in "barely scratches". I may be being stupid but aren't these things patently obviously broken when they're rolled out to SiSi? |

Hey at least you guys can play. I keep getting "Some of the installation files are corrupt. Please download a fresh copy and retry the installation." Patch failed yesterday for me, so I uninstalled the client and went to work while the client downloaded again. Get home from work...... nothing, some crazy error message I didn't understand. So, I uninstalled it AGAIN to download it yet AGAIN.... Woke up this morning to install the download and got this..... 'CRC failed in eveonline_85476.7z'
As if I had any idea what that means. All I know is that message represents more money I'm wasting on not getting to play a game I pay for.
Does anybody have a solution that doesn't require me messing around with the files?
Telling me it can be solved by changing line X to line Y (messing with my program files), etc etc... is like asking a man that has frenchfries instead of fingers to knit a sweater. Can I PLEASE get some help on this issue?

I keep getting the patch that corrupts my install, this is the 7th time reinstalling, pathetic that even after the downtime this isn't fixed.

This is what I did to get it to work:
1. Download fresh copy from Steam 2. Backup it by using the steam backuper 3. Patch the game so it gets corrupt. 4. Go to your backup folder of EVE and double click the restoration EXE steam created 5. Follow the steps and at the end just click the link and close it then click finish, after I did this, EVE started working.

What was fixed?
The sound is worse than ever. No firing sounds and a horrible crackle out of one speaker when something pops and the music levels still have to be set really low compared to other sounds.
When undocking from some stations I still end up looking at a point inside my ship.
I daren't try the skill queue fix as I couldn't understand what was actually fixed, if anything.
New bug of a complete program crash when I try to change ships whilst in the ship fitting screen.
In fact apart from no/worse sound and the new bug I can't see much change.
Not a very good bug release

Something I've noticed that hasn't been mentioned in this thread is right-clicking in general. 90% of the time when I try to right-click on something in the overview, drone bay (out-of-station), or clicking on my ship in-station nothing happens. Usually I have to right-click multiple times to get the context menu to appear. This isn't really a problem in-station, but in the middle of a fight it is a major hassle. I have multiple accounts and this happens on two/thirds of them.

Not on my system. Its exactly the same. No UI sounds at all, muffled mush elsewhere, spotting fighting sounds, and a fall off of 5km camera zoom to zero. Sums up to hopeless mess.

A bit of an attempt to help those with patching errors:
1) In the future make a BACKUP of the EVE install BEFORE attempting to patch. This only helps next time unfortunately. 2) Disable any Virus scanner, and other protection software you might have on your computer before starting the patching process. Some software in that category messes the patching procedure up.
3) If someone has had the patch complete, but get errors when starting the game, could you please try computing a md5sum hash value set using this program:
Inside
and post the result here. The program is fairly easy to use, all you need to do is to install it and start the Inside/md5sum/Create md5sum program, and point it to your EVE directory. Please uncheck the "Include subfolders" option.
See next post for a complete md5 list of my EVE files.

1. DL = broken 2. Manual DL = broken 3. Re-install = broken 4. Re-install from old (revelations) file = working, but needs update 5. DL = broken 6. Manual DL = broken 7. DL = broken
Each time the reason is differant, usually this long string of characters should be another long string of characters... this last one is "Updating failed with the following error: Invalid path file"
Any help would be appreciated.

Issues I have found:
Map Interface: When systems are colored by population, you cannot hover over a specific system to pull up it info. Only highly populated systems will show info. When you open the info for a NPC Corp and click the button to Show on Map to find all stations for that corp.... Nothing happens other than the map might open.
Assets Window: Shows the wrong number of jumps to the systems with items in them. Updating of the assets window does not happen on every docking and un-docking or jump.
Skill sheet: May show the wrong skill blinking as the one being trained. What happen to showing a percentage of the skill trained so far on mouse over?
Tech 3: Production..... All of it

Patch download on three machines (Gaming XP SP3, Laptop Vista SP1 and Test PC Windows 7) all went according to plan and clients patched.
Problems:- Sound is still rubbish. I have a USB (on board chipset) 5.1 sound system on the XP machine. The only way I am able to listen (if you can call it that) to any of the sounds is to adjust the speaker settings to +5db on the left and centre speakers, and -2db to the right speakers, then using the equaliser push the high frequencies up to almost maximum.
This moves the sound ambience more to the centre and clears æAuroraÆsÆ voice to the point where I can differentiate between her saying æDocking request acceptedÆ and æDocking permission requestedÆ.
The laptop has such tinny speakers with just a touch of high frequency boost the sound is bordering on passable but not good. The Windows 7 machine has only stereo and is complete rubbish.
Also what is the point of giving us super explosion graphics with no æboomÆ sound. I want to both see and hear the ship IÆm hitting go boom and to all those saying æThere is no sound in spaceÆ well IÆm not in blasted space, IÆm sitting in my room on Earth looking at a flat screen of pixels breathing air and I want my sound to annoy the neighbours 6 doors down (not really but you know what I mean).
Second problem, if you mouse over anything in space that normally produces a tooltip with white text on a transparent background you will also get a black box with white text and a white border that attaches itself to the mouse cursor. A quick left click and jerk mouse will remove it but itÆs annoying.
Third, pod now warps at 90 deg to the warp tunnel, confusing as hell when your flying lol.
Tl;dr
Bring back sound like before this Apro mess, things attaching to mouse cursor when in space, pod warp angle wrong.
Good bits; skill queue seems fixed, assets now working some graphic bugs fixed.

Skill queue is still bugged post-patch. For me it seems to almost always involve a level 0 skill being trained to level 1, but maybe that's just a coincidence. Still getting stuck in 'completion imminent' and still having EVEMon showing the next skill training only to log in to discover that it wasn't (or that if it was, logging in cancelled that training somehow.)
CCP, 'pretty reliable' isn't good enough for this feature, particularly over 2 weeks after it was introduced. SP's are how status is measured in this game and your implementation of a buggy skill queue and imbalancing remap option have demonstrated a fundamental lack of judgment on your part. It shouldn't take a rocket scientist to get this feature to work properly every time. Fix it.

When anchoring coupling arrays at a gallente large control tower, about 20-25% of the structures gets anchored without the 100% capacity bonus applied to it. In one instance it had even 0 capacity!!!
Not sure if there is a workaround, but the malfunctioning ones I am unanchoring again to see if anchoring after that fixes the issue. This is very time consuming and no fun, so please take notice!!!
Oh and the ancient "editor bug" before in the contract screen where the first space you type gets ignored (repeatedly) is fixed but resurfaced elsewhere now. I had it when editing a bookmark text (when making the bookmark and the dialog pops up).
I am a firm believer that CCP will not get the editor working the next coming 5 years, its always been a mess. Its improving, but it doesnt look like you got grip on the slippery code :)
And please add naming + sorting of pos structures inside shield other then the control tower to your list. Its a hell atm to work with many structures atm and I need to do a lock trick to know what structure is being modified in the process/prodcution pos interface. Atm I am kind of wondering when POS code comes out of the alpha stage!

Sometimes DED and COSMOS sites now do not show up on the overview. I have been to a few systems where these sites once existed, and they are not there now. But other sites in other systems are still present. For example, the COSMOS complex in Inder is there and I entered it (just a few minutes ago). The beacon was visible on the overview just like always; I did not have to scan. But the COSMOS site next door in Tvink has vanished. Bookmarks near it still exist, but the site has vanished.
I looked for an Angels DED 2/10 in Polstodur on Thursday, and it was not on the overview. But I returned on Friday night and it was then visible.
So: how come they are sometimes visible on the overview and not at other times ? Do they become visible if someone scans then down and enters ? Or if someone is assigned a mission for that site ? Is this a bug or a new game mechanic ?
These complexes are all still listed on the starmap with filter: DED Deadspace Report

Quote: Autopatch failed.
I must agree with him, all was fine till latest patch i had an power outage during the 20mb patch install. this corrupted my files.
I was forced to download 2 gigabyte again did so crc checksum error in the 2gb manual downloader Then again tried with online installer (error writing to disk file corrupt and you all know it you can start over) Again tried (used another partition this time with success (pfeww))
I only noticed if i have heavy lag (49- is busy) and alt tab i sometimes crash now.

okay... Issues I have found so far:
+ annoying black infobox that sticks with the cursor when in space. + sometimes red or orange players, misses their tags on the shipbracket in space. + using the map in stations, - and after closing the map, the hangar camera is not centeret around the ship. + I can hear Miss "warp drive active / "autopilot jumping", even if I have voice level to zero. - she shuts up only if I turn up the voice level and back to zero.

One smaller issue:
- The window of the LP store cannot be resized. When trying to widen or length the window is there no border to pull at. Only at the very corners of the window can one pull at it. -- If there is anything in your life you fear of losing, then keep your mouth shut once in a while. |

I have to agree with a lot of others the sound system needs to be looked at And to be honnest I would not mind having the old system back or atleast make the gun sounds die out at further ranges
I apreciate the efforts to make the sounds better but when it fails its "back to the drawing board"
I have exactly the same experience - explosions are a "your headphones aren't working right" click noise instead of an explosion sound. Worked fine before the patch (and the headphones are working fine with other games, dvds, music etc - so unless the poster above and I had a simultaneous sound system malfunction that only affects EVE, explosions are bugged). I cannot hear my gun turrets whether zoomed in or out - except on odd occasions when the turret noice randomly decides to work for one or two shots.
It's deeply annoying and really spoils the immersion for me.
Making the sounds fade out when you zoom out from your ship is a design decision. The fact that the sounds don't work properly, zoomed in or not, is a bug.

Patch worked fine for me, but:
Consistent crashing to desktop, crashed 4 times in a six hour period. Cost me some of my shiny new T2 drones. I havent been able to identify the cause of the CTDs, once it was on the fitting screen while docked. The other 3 were in missions and I was doing something different every time.
Also, the sound is still completely screwed. Video and sound drivers are up to date. I've had to disable sound and listen to iTunes until the issues get fixed, it's just too annoying.
That said, I'm still very happy with Apocrypha, and I'm looking forward to CCP getting the bugs ironed out.

Hello All,
Here are some of the problems I am finding. I'm wondering of others are experiencing the same thing.
1. Missing ships - When I jump into a system, I hold cloak as normal. When I warp to another gate, the cloak appears to be falling off, but then my ship completely disappears. It comes back when I click on it (or where it should be).
2. Missing Gates - When I arrive at a gate, it is not there, except for the lighting layer of the gate if applicable. The gate appears if I click directly on it (or where it should be).
3. Warp Curtain is out of alignment - This doesn't happen often. It appears to only happen in one or two systems (i.e. Otelen) and while I am pod-hopping. While in warp, the wavy warp curtain usually points to the direction of travel with the Blue haze-shift in front. When this bug happens, the curtain is vertical and completely out of alignment.
4. Client Crashes - This strange phenomena has only happened to me in Amarr, while building a bunch of Omens. The client crashes when I right-click on the ship in order to open the Drone Bay.
These bugs had not appeared until the most recent patch was deployed.
Overall, I think the Apocrypha patch is a major boost to game-play.
THE VERY BEST NEW FEATURE - In my honest and humble opinion, the very very best feature to come out of the March 10th Patch is the undocumented feature where you can freeze the Overview while holding down the CTRL key. Whoever added that the patch, deserves a pay-raise. KUDOS!

Issues:
Assets in current system: For the most part this works better now, but in Kihtaled (Khanid region) it is showing me my assets in Ashi instead of Kihtaled.
Asteroids not disappearing: While mining a couple empty asteroids stayed around on the overview and were targetable, but when I activate lasers on them it says they were already gone. This was during a period of pretty heavy lag on Sunday 3/29/09.

This has been posted by a few other people as well.
Missing ship graphic. This will happen when I uncloak from a gate and warp, ship will be missing for 5-10 seconds. Other time I am at a gate or in space, say camping or whatever, and the ship graphic will dissapear. I have to zoom all the way in and click the screen before it reappears. This has happened in a pod, a taranis, and a lachesis so far.
Warp effect awry. When warping in certain systems, the warp grahic will not be in line with the actual direction of travel, it will go vertical. I cant pinpoint any certain systems as it seems to happen randomly. This combined with the disappering ship bug is very annoying, especially when trying to warp and around and engage people.
Sound - Probably how you wanted it.. I dont know why. Unless I am on TOP of my ship, I cant hear any effects. Turn them back up, this is why we have effect volume control buttons.
Now the patching process went smooth as usual, no problems at all, I feel for everyone that is having issues.

As of Saturday I came back to give EVE its second chance, I must say the patch data log made it sound much more fun than I remember. So I spent 3-4 hours messing around with the password reset and the credit authentication server, finally i get my account reactivated and spend a hour or two downloading the game. I log in and every thing goes fine, i make a new char, all is well... I try to enter the game and crash... Now I am calm, and wait a bit to see it the server is down and try again, crashes, I make a report and it disappears, I post in the forums and it is ignored. Now here it is the 3rd day with a game I cannot play that I just payed for... guess they have a month before I get deactivated again to change my mind. Well anyway here is the technical data form my case.
Steps taken on my end: Updated drivers and DirectX, reloaded game, cleared game cache, and tried game on lowest video settings. Hardware: nVidia 9800 GTX+, 6Gb Ram, Intel 3.5GHz Duo Core, 100Mbps internet, and a nVidia Motherboard. Software: Latest video and sound drivers, Windows Vista Premium 64-bit, Latest version of EVE-online. Market Window:
When viewing market details the number of jumps displayed to certain Stations in a Region is marked as 2147483647 Jumps. I highly doubt there's 2 Trillion Jumps in the entire game, let alone in a single region. With these entries, it's impossible to "Set Destination". Or view the "Route" in the Show Info section of the said Solar System. Here's why I don't like this bug. I'm a transporter. Sometimes the goods I want are in Stations which I have no idea how to get to. This hinders the full potential of my business.
In Space:
Cursor's Black Information Window(Tooltip) fails to close when pointing at objects other than the first object you pointed at. The only way to get this little window to close is [left click anywhere in space other than at the object the window is describing, and move mouse over 1 pixel].
A previous bug I reported back in August 2008 about some Solar System info windows not displaying any information unless I pin or unpin the window has apparently been fixed, even though they sent me a reply saying they couldn't replicate this bug. Now that's funny.
This post is subject to change as I find more "issues" that affect only my game play. I do feel good that I can actually play the game, unlike many people who posted here. Wish you all the best of luck with your problems.

Hi Mr. Petursson, As paying customers, our hope is that fixes to deal with player feedback and issues will be forthcoming over the next 6 months... Also, is there an internal memo that all public comments made by CCP employees must first be approved by the Public Relations department?... If not, do developers feel that if they were to attempt communication that they'd very quickly be overwhelmed?... In any case, we're curious as to exactly what motivates you... What pushes your buttons?... What, in the name of basic human decency does it take to get your people to speak up for themselves?...and to us?... Just curious.

Why doin't I get warnings / offers to cleanup my logs folder BEFORE patching? Mine had 56795 files in it, effectively using 1.2GB of disk space.
With many people having disk space issues on the original patch rollout, it makes sense to point out to them they have accumulated tons of useless logs they probably want to get rid off. I posted several solutions for the logs before (like 1 year ago) and got totally ignored. As usual I am right in the end...so get your hamster buts moving and read my post and then act!

Nearly a week later, still receiving crc errors with every download. I've seen no responses from CCP regarding anything except on the Fanfast thread. Tried the above m5sum checker quoted above (yes I even disabled my virus scanner, etc), which is a great thought if you can patch, but for the rest of us who for instance, can't patch because we had to reformat our hard drive, are screwed.
At any rate, here's the result of the installer:
EVE Installer: D:\fail\EVE_Premium_Setup_85476_m.exe Md5Sum: 98e3ba6892be303436bdcefc92fec7746c86786f Sha1: a7ca45df5fa7be291b0c28cba703fbabb5b27c22
The installer creates the following EMPTY directory, then error out: "C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\"
At this point, I see four options:
1. Purchase a hardcopy from a game retailer, and hope it works. 2. Cancel my subscription and let it run out. 3. Try to download sometime in May or June, as I don't see a resolution to the issue anytime soon. 4. Ask someone with a working client to zip their entire EVE directory, upload to an online host, and post a link to it. At this point, I have nothing to lose but time my money was spent on account renewal, just prior to the Apocrypha release.
I forgot to post my rig:

If you have been trying to make this work for a week, please let me try to help...but you must be willing to do some work too. I will assume you have a good internet connection, and the hardware/cabling on your laptop is fine, but CRC errors can be caused by glitchy cables and/or equipment. So just be aware. If you have access to another computer, see if you can install Eve there. This would be especially good if you could use the same internet connection that you're using for your laptop. The reason for doing this is to establish whether or not Eve can be successfully installed on another computer at your location. If successful, then you may want to reformat your laptop and start over...I've tried to cover the basics below - you probably know these things. If unsuccessful (assuming the PC meets Eve installation requirements), then maybe the problem is not on your computer, and having your ISP/cable company check your modem for errors is what you should do next. Ok? Your operating system has a complete PC backup feature...if you're not already familiar with it...check it out. Also, you would do well to have a large external drive (USB is simple and reliable) to back up your system. If you have files on your computer you absolutely want to keep, back them up. If you have your original Vista disk, great, if you have an HP recovery disk, that's fine too, except for one thing. I always have to load the Vista disk in order to do the complete PC restore to my last backup. I am not sure how HP handles that without the Vista disk. Optional: Find a hard drive utility for your drive and wipe it clean... either load zeros to the whole thing or do a low level format. Reinstall Vista. Go to Windows Update and run it until your system is up to date. Don't install a virus scanner yet. Just be careful browsing (your firewall should be on.) Download and install the latest bios for your system and the latest mainboard, video and audio drivers, if windows update has not already installed the ones you want. Optional: Allow eve online (ExeFile.exe) unfettered access through your firewall. I recommend this...not sure if it matters. Download and install Eve. Run Eve and sign on just to make sure it works. Exit Eve. Back up your entire system to an external drive using the Complete PC Backup feature of Vista. If all of this works, you can now play Eve on your laptop and you have a way to completely restore your laptop to this point. Good night and good luck. |

LOL windows
I'm pretty versed with windows installs, and have several registered copies of OS's, so the basic backup, firewall, etc is covered
At any rate, not an hour after posting my previous response, I had to reinstall my OS yet again; this time I'm rolling back to XP Pro, as it had the fewest issues thus far. *Go go gadget SP3 *
At any rate, I'm going to try the hardwired download method, as I agree the wireless can be a bit bumpy.
I'll post my results, hopefully this is all related to my vista installs.
Thanks for the tips, any help is greatly appreciated!!!!!! Insert witty pun here |

Also, for those having CRC and other problems still, i highly recommend downloading steam and using its service for getting EVE Online, while the auto-patch for EVE installed VIA steam failed once steam patched it themselves i downloaded it and had no problems what-so-ever on the patch side (not counting the numerous bugs in the game itself both continued and newly introduced with 1.0.2), CCP thank Steam for delivering a patch 100% better then you are able to GG KK THX BYE

I'm a patient person, who doesn't give up easily at anything, but this has pushed my last button and here are the honest reasons:
I've downloaded CRC fail 30+ times in 6 days. I've reformatted my hard drive multiple times with 3 OS's: 32 bit XP Pro, 64 bit Vista, 32 bit Fedora 9. I mentioned already, I'm pretty versed in windows and linux installs/OS's, and I use every option open to me, yes, these installs included all updates and drivers. At this point I've tried wired and wireless downloads from 3 separate locations with 3 completely different computers, all of which failed.
For what it's worth it was fun, and I'm upset because I never got to go inside a wormhole or get podded by a sleeper, but that's why youtube was created. The real kicker is my account expires in mid-July, which is four months of lost time (no its not a time code, its paid).
This morning I futily attempted to download using two of the three computers, which failed, I'm done.
Fly safe, happy hunting and all that. Insert witty pun here |

There seems to be a lot more crashes since the inception of 1.0.2 My corp members and I are crashing in and out during combat and while using the fittings window to outfit our ships. It's not just vista that causing the problem if that's what you may be thinking. Members in my corp are using XP, Vista and Windows 7 (he's a beta tester). I think the game was far more stable before the latest patch. If I were to venture a guess I'd say it was a memory overflow error, but windows seems to think it's because your trying to run executables from memory, that windows can not identify, and shuts the game down because it thinks it's a virus. I don't know if any of that will help.
Any idea how long before we can see some fixes?

This is my experience too. I myself run XP and before this patch EVE very rarely crashed, close to never actually.
I havent been with EVE for a very long time, but i have browsed these forums alot after the last patch to find some help with the issues you mention here, but no.
What i miss the most is some kind of response in this thread from the devs.
I have found EVE to be THE MMORPG i have been looking for and im having a blast in this game. So i really hope this is something that will be looked into.

same here,
crashes since last patch. the unpatched expansion was still ok, but now, since thursday a week ago, crashes, mostly in missions or while fitting screen open.
deinstalled eve completely already, ereased everything eve related from my drive manually after that (yes had to resort all the bookmarks ), tried playing with sound disabled, updated to the latest drivers (most where up to date anyway), no success, still crashing to desktop randomly, sometimes 3 times in 10 minutes, sometimes only every 2 hours.
...lost 10 million in drones yesterday because of constant crashes in missions btw
system is win xp SP3 geforce 8800gt audigy 2 zs soundcard asus sli deluxe motherboard nvidia chipset 2 gigabyte ram amd 4800 dual core
with all latest drivers and direct x
hope you guys at ccp will find the reason soon, because its quite dangerous to fly around in expensive ships + drones when you crash all the time...( i already avoid Factional Warfare PVP since the crash festival )

I previously played Eve for 3 years then left for a year. The news of this new release convinced me to come back. However, since the 02 patch, I continue to have CTD's and lock ups. Usually as soon as I leave a station. I'm hesitant to attempt any travel through low sec until this gets resolved. I'm sure they're working on a new patch. I remember going through this multiple times in the early days. Tis just a matter of being patient.

What happened to all the DED complexes? I was online a couple days ago and went plexing and logged in this morning and not one will show up on the overview. Do we have to scan for them now? The other beacons show up like celestial agent sites and such, just not one DED complex. That is a big part of my entertainment as I don't usually have super long periods of play time. They were like drive-throughs...and now they are gone. What happened?
Oh yeah, and I also experience occassional crashes while fitting my ships....

Edited by: Inspiration on 05/04/2009 20:12:45 I can confirm random crashes when closing EVE clients.
SO far this has been no big deal to me as at that point I am not likely as loosing anything....unless the day comes when it messes up my local files of course. It seem to happen to me at about 10% to 20% of the time. This is an estimate and the numbers could be a bit off as I use 4 clients and then it becomes hard to keep track. It is an issue that has gone worse with the expansion ans it means something has changed that causes this to occur more often. I am running Vista 64 bit if that has any significance. And what can be made broken and be made unbroken......will it happen soon or not, that is the question!

This is just my opinion, btw:
I often crash on exit, and it is always creating a sound loop, so I suspect it is soundcard related, especially worse since the last major patch
I use an Audigy card too, new drivers make no difference ---

I am having issues still with the EVE On-line Installer for this latest patch. I have tried to download this twice now - and each time it has failed after downloading the 1985MB of files - with 99% done and time remaining 0:00:00. I have loads of disk space left - so I presume it isn't that - but it simply doesn't seem to want to go any further and Vista just reports that the program has stopped responding and kills it off. --------------------------------- Mining Director. I haven't thoroughly tested this yet, but the sound related crashes seem to be related to the 'world sounds' slider. I have yet to have a crash with just that slider set to 0 with all other sliders up. When I have tried to bring the world sounds back up, I will eventually get crashes in combat or in station. I notice the issue with the pod model and the pod cloaking model appearing at 90 degrees to each other is fixed, this is good...
However, now when warping in a pod the warp animation appears vertically aligned to the pod instead of being in the direction of travel. (Its surprising how disconcerting I found that the first time :p )

Edited by: Amerus on 21/04/2009 02:48:22 I am not going to rant, but I would like to express how upset I am about what I have had to go through to NOT get the program working.
1. On patch day I used the autopatcher that eve automatically runs. I received the corrupt files error which told me to reinstall eve.
2. I uninstalled eve and all user files.
3. I downloaded the offline installer (all 2.2 gigs) and attempted to install. I got the corrupt checksum error.
4-9 I re-downloaded and attempted to install eve FIVE TIMES with the same checksum corrupt installation files error. That's a total of 10.6 GIGS of downloading. My ISP's safeties have engaged and now my internet is moving at 56k speed. Thanks.
Still not working. Tried downloading it and installing twice today alone.
What can I do? How come ccp doesnt respond to this thread? Please remove the checksum feature all together because it is useless.

HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop, 15" screen. Dual core AMD Turion 64 Nvidia video card, with latest drivers. MS Vista Ultimate 64 bit
I get the same thing man.. Been trying a week now to get this game reinstalled on my windows machine since the patch.

Originally by: eisbrescher I'm a patient person, who doesn't give up easily at anything, but this has pushed my last button and here are the honest reasons:
Fly safe, happy hunting and all that.
btw I'm not far behind you.. I have 3 accounts that I'm about to cancel because I'm tried of dealing with this same issue everytime a new patch comes out.

Ok I just wanted to say I found something that works on the corruption issues. (at least for me)
If you are using a Nvida video card make sure you have the latest drivers that were released at the beginning of this month.
Once I updated the video driver, I was able to get the offline installer to work. However when I tried to install a second client I once again had the corruption issues.
I decided to give the normal Downloader a try again and was able to install two more clients with no corruption issues.
A few key steps.
1) delete the original install folder. 2) make sure you delete the last install attempt in your temp file cache if it doesn't auto delete. 3) cross fingers 4) thank CCP 4 all their trouble shooting help and great communications with their player base.. (sarcasm)

This is bull****! sort this ****ty patching system out for ****sake or i'm off else where. Every ****ing time i HAVe to download the full client due to the imcompitance of the monkey programmers at CCP who can't even program a decent system to patch a game.
I'm on Steam, I am unable to download the patch due to the fact that it cannot download the patch. It's not on the site either.
Now what? Download the full client?

This is the third time the auto installer has corrupted the client install and forced me to download and re-install the entire client. Should I just uninstall Eve whenever there is a patch and save the suspense?

I've not experience major patch issues before, but I'm currently getting "Update failed with following error: Unknown patching failure. Error Code 18". This is despite using the inbuilt downloader with eve, the manual patch updater, the offline installer of the full client and the online version of the full client. It is interesting to note, however, that the current "full version" does not include the most recent patch, which then requires you do download the patch... you you see a pattern here?
8 pages of posts so I didn't read all of them... anyone else with the same?
Cheers

Edited by: TheSerpent on 16/05/2009 18:09:25 Have been a satisified customer for almost 2 years now.
But now I'm a little bit angry.
I've tried everything online install -> automatic patch online install -> manual patch full install -> automatic patch full install -> manual patch
it always tells me that my ****** files are screwed in terms of a "verification failure". Sure there is a verification failure, because already the install is getting CRC fails and cancels like the for the guy above me.
I need to start training somehow ;/ Too bad I've paid money for this.

Same for me - I've never been able to autopatch and have had to download the full 2gb file each time there's a patch.
This time - its just not working and its not the files are corrupt. I was able to download a working client file to an old desktop and got it to install without any problems. What's weird is that after copying the file to a portable HDD and trying to install it to my main PC (after reinstalling the OS no less) the working file comes up as corrupt.
The only difference between the 2 PCs is that the old one is XP and the new one is Vista. I've tried everything I can think of - disabled the internet security software, switched off account management control. Nothing works.
My game is totally dead.

I presume your new working client still needed to patch?
