I've p4 2.40Ghz, 6600GT and 1578mb (3X512) of RAM. After Revelations patch Eve became absolutely unplayable û about 70 fps in station, 15-20 near the station in Jita and about 1-2 fps in fleet fights (100 ships and more)
have reinstalled video-drivers (93.71 now) and directx (9.0c october '06 now), cpu & gpu temperature is ok but the problem still here..
what else can i do? and what fps you have with same graphic card and cpu? please, help me. |

core 2 duo e6600 gigabyte ds3 7600gt 2 gig corsair ddr2 x-fi extreme music ocz gamestream 700w psu 250gig wd sata 2 hard drive
im in the same boat. Before revelations i had terrible fps problems, and now its just got a lot worse.
before i would actually get 200 fps in station with 2 AA, 140 fps next to a station- which sounds really good right? but then half the missions (level 3) i would of dropped down to 30's and 20's(vsync didsabled), which would feel very sluggish on my pc and very jerky. There was a battle at a pos with 20 dreadnoughts, the fps must of dropped to about 5.
I think structures and stuff like gas clouds have a massive negative effect on my fps, things like the bases on missions or a pos will drop it down a lot.
Anyway, all this was before kali, now its got a lot worse- 60-70 fps outside station. Id also like to say that the sound is really bad, ive tried 3 soundcards and two motherboards and it is still just as bad. basicly it *****les every couple of seconds, so ive turned off sound for now.
Im expecting that the new Dx10/vista Eve will make everything ok because they will (hopefully) optimize the game to work as it should on good hardware, theyve said that graphics cards will actualy get most the work wheras now its mainly the processor. I think the problem with the game is that it's old and not written for new pc's, ive seen the same thing with a couple of other old games in the past not working well on new machines.

Any device sharing the same IRQ as your display adapter will seriously effect your graphics performance. This problem is actually more common thatn people think. It doesn't have to be conflicting either.
Start>programs>accesories>system tools>system information >Expand "Hardware Resources" >Click IRQ's
Find your display adapter down the list, does anything share the same number? If so depending on what the device is you can disable it or change the IRQ
Me, I had a Firewire card sharing the same IRQ as my graphics card, it took me a while to figure it out tbh, after I disabled the firewire my system stability returned to normal.

hey man thanks for posting it. i checked my irq's and i just saw that its a mess!! check this screenshot please. http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/308/fafasfapr8.jpg thank you.
as you can see my 2 x 6600 GT sli graphic cards have the same irq and many other devices share some same numbers too....
i tried to change the irq but it was greyed . I also tried to find how to do it from BIOS but i didnt find any option yet.
i will keep looking of course to find a way to change the irq numbers. any help appreciated , and also thanks for the info.http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/308/fafasfapr8.jpg

ACPI is stopping you from manually changing IRQ settings. It basically manages the IRQ settings for your system and takes the control away from the bios.
In terms of your SLI cards, this i'm a little unsure of. I'm not sure if both cards should or shouldn't be on the same interupt request but I would be very cautious on how you proceed. Try to find some documentation on SLi IRQ settings. I've done a little reading and there are a lot of tech spots out there by people saying they're systems performace is seriously diminished by SLI cards sharing the same IRQ.
Remove your secondary card incl drivers from the system, physically. Re-install incl new drivers. also what mobo do you have?
Strange that a lot of the people, including myself that have had problems with this also have Geforce 6600GT cards tho...

Even more bizarre is you have the same motherboard as me lol
Read this: Linkage
Unfortuantely you will not be able to change the resources on items that are managed by the ACPI. I got round this because all i had to do was disable a firewire port that, tbh, I can live without.
Try reloading your graphics card, otherwise, i'd re-install windows entirely and see if that resolves.

Again , thanks for the help.
already reinstalled the drivers for the graphics cards 3 times , but nothing happened.
Is it possible to bypass the irq that acpi gives , from some setting in the bios (if possible in the mobo) ?
Thanks in advance.

Athlon 64 3000+ 2GB DDR ATI X800PRO SB Audigy
And I have like 10-15 fps with a lvl 3 mission @ 1024x768, is this normal?
I check irq's and firewire & graphics card have the same, and so do the network card & audigy.

Caldari citizen40 - Go to Device Manager and disable your firewire card (Right click, disable device). You'll notice your frame rate increase 50-60%. Try changing your audigy card to a different PCI slot as well.
Zinderx500 - You can't manually alter the resource settings if SCPI is controlling them unfortuantely :( All I could suggest is a rebuild of your system my friend :(

Hey guys, just threw this game on my laptop and tried basically everything to increase FPS with no real noticeable boost like noted in some of the other posts.
Intel Pentium M 1.7 Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 900 (128MB shared memory) 1gb DDR ram
I did notice a slight increase when I set all transparency values in the HUD to 255 (about 1-2 FPS)
I get about 18-20 FPS in open space, 5-15 when in my POS shield. Is there a way I might increase the FPS? I've tried everything as listed to no avail. I've updated my drivers on the video to the newest (1-2 fps boost) and even disabled all graphics options in the utility with no help.
If anyone can suggest anything (besides needing a new laptop) it would be nice.
Thanks, Cc2iscooL

Hey, i got about same problem.. been trying everything from defraging harddrives to buy and clock new hardware. since Revelation patch i can hardly play the game more than in stations where i get around 15-50 fps. outside the station i get around 5-13 and hardly 15 fps. in missions and astroid belts i get around 1-11 fps mostly around 2-4 fps. I get about the same fps results if i run in 1024*768 as when i run 1600*1200 or 1300*1024. the only differ is when i am in mission or belts and then around 2-5 FPS differense. Ive tried every tip and idea above on all 10pages *sighs* and still no change.. i even clocked my CPU 300mhz and still nothing.. installed XP about 4 times with SP1 and SP2 and even without. i Bought new Gfx card i upgraded memory and i ran into a wall and still nothing, i jumped a bridge with the computer tied to my leg... still nothing... no seriously.. any idea what i could try next beside buing a new Mobo and CPU? i should be able to run the game fine many say.. i say well not in my world.
Intel Celeron 2.4Ghz 400mhz @ ASUS P4S8X-X 1024MB Twin Mos and Kingston RAM Sapphire Radeon 9550 256MB Creative Audigy 2 ZS D-Link Wireless @ Internet 256kb

I was getting horrible lab problems due to from this new patch from:
1) Alt-Tabbing
and
2) Having Eve.exe in Windows 95/98 compatibility mode (under WinXP)
By leaving Eve in full screen all the time and switching off this mode I was able to get constant acceptable FPS (~30), still far below what I use to get. Haven't been in any fleet battles however, so whether this will hold is unknown.

Edited by: Dia Chi on 17/12/2006 02:09:34 Anyone else having the CPU go to 100% when you launch Eve Online?
I open task manager and watch the processes. When I launch Eve Online the evefile.exe will go to 99 to 100% CPU usage. I haven't even logged into Eve yet!
When I highlight another window (like task manager) the exefile.exe goes to 0% CPU. If I highlight the Eve window (still haven't logged in yet) the CPU goes to 99% to 100%. If I highlight any other window (firefox, shortcuts on desktop, task manager) the evefile.exe goes to 0% CPU.
So, without loading the game the evefile.exe is too CPU intensive & it's the same ingame.
Since the CPU is pegged out the ingame experiene is horrible.
I have an AMD 64 4000+, 2 GB RAM, PCI-E ATI-X1900 w/512 MB RAM. The system still plays Half-Life 2 without breaking a sweat. Launching the Eve game and not logging in takes all the CPU. Please fix. Thanks.

ps. my system plays nice BF2 or BF2142 at 30-40 fps.

Edited by: JenTos on 18/12/2006 05:05:33 I still have problems.
Now, reinstalling drivers and udpating all drivers is great and all, but it should NOT result in any improvements.
If software runs ok for everybody before the patch, and is significantly slower after the patch (without other changes to systems), no driver will automagically resolve these recent performance issues.
So, here's what I have done: -uninstall Norton everything -uninstall any security software that has realtime scanning components (i.e. Ad-watch and Norton) -uninstall video and sound drivers, used driver removers, and reinstalled to newest drivers. -I even defragged my hard drive (Defragging on NTFS is a borderline sin)
Here is my performance improvement: 21 fps in space -> 21 fps in space.
NOTHING I did made any difference.
My BF2 performance at 1024*768 and auto detect settings results in 35-40 FPS. This hits over 60 with shaders and textures turned to low.
However, I have noticed that Todaki system with 40+ people in it is a LOT smoother than Kakatela with 40 people. This makes me hypothesize as to whether client-side FPS is linked directly to the bandwidth alotted to the node.
Can anybody confirm?

i too had problems after the patch, din't see the fps, but EvE was extremely "sluggy" so to speak.
i set the folowing settings in the Nvidia Control panel :
image settings : high performance
anti aliasing : 2x
anisotropric : 2x
And presto : high fps ,in station and in space.
All i can guess is the patch messed with these settings

Yep this worked for me too! Seems Kali ups the Default Anisotropic Filter from 0x to 16x or something. So only people who used to have the setting at 0x or Default noticed a drop in fps and others not.
Only problem I have left is that I cannot set it to 0x manually, just Adapter Defaults or 2x. --

After the Patch I terned off all of my 'perfomance' settings (such as Anisotropic, Anti aliasing) and set Quality to the High Performance.. But my fps is still 10-15 in belts and gangs with 20+ ships. In fleet battles it's about 0-2 fps, which is absolutely unplayable. My card is 6600GT (AGP) and p4 [email protected].. [415]
Edited by: Sylthi on 19/12/2006 08:05:51 I have actually been working on this subject since my FPS went WAY south after the first posting of "Dragon" round about August/September. I have/had tried EVERYTHING in this thread, and even resorted to buying a (near) cutting edge generation graphics card with no significant result. I was pulling my hair out trying to figure out how I was going to continue playing my favorite game; all the while being COMPLETELY ignored in petitions and email by "CCP technical no-help."
Then, somewhere, I don't remember where, I started reading in the forums some information about CCP being a very CPU intensive game, and that freeing up CPU resources helped a LOT more than graphics card specific fixes/tweeks. I started messing around with it, and saw some improvements. Minor, but improvements none-the-less. I then read somewhere, again I don't remember where, that Eve is NOT multi-CPU or hyperthreading compatable. (CCP devs dropped the ball AGAIN on this subject too.) So, I started messing around with setting my affinity running the Eve exe to one CPU and turning off my HT. Guess what? My FPS jumped by over 150% just doing these last two things. So, if you have multiple CPUs, or a HT machine, try messing around with the affinity first, and then turning off your HTing if you are DESPERATE for some improved Eve performance like I was. I am sure the devs will get off smoking the bong long enough eventually to bring Eve's base code into the modern era by making it HT and multi-CPU compatable. But, until then, those of us with them may have to make allowances for CCPs lazy coders. Good luck to you guys out there! Cheers! *

You may have made a mistake when turning off all you performance settings. Off on my pc means 'Application Controlled'. So EVE can use the settings it wants. But EVE will use high Anisostropic Filter settings, so Instead of setting it to Application Controlled, manually set it to a low value like 2x. --

No, there aren't any mistakes - I'm using latest official Nvidia ForceWare drivers (93.71) and there are two options: Off, App Controlled, and some levels of anisotropic and anti aliasing. All of them turned 'Off'. I have already tried different settings, drivers and no any changes.. So I think it isn't my local bug, it's bug of a new post-patch client.
