Are you guys (CCP) get paid for closing our socket's all the time ?
Why dont you get into it and fix it instead of putting more and more crap into the servers. Take a walk back in time and see where and when it started..
This is beginning to look a lot like Microsoft.. Remove a bug and implent two new ones..
While you are doing this then please remove this "Unwanted Inventory" and give us the old hangar system back, this inventory is not as useful as it was before.

And today, I had 8 socket closed errors during my two hours of gameplay. On two of these occasions, the socket had closed before I had even loaded my ship and started warping back to where I got dced from. Ever since Inferno, the socket closed error has been ridiculously rampant and if ccp cannot be bothered to fix it, they are going to lose business. This is not the customers' responsibility. This is 100% the responsibility of the developers. If the customer is using some ancient pos with an equally ancient OS, I can understand having issues like this, but from what I've been reading, this is simply not the case. |

The problem started after the incursion update. As far as I know the only thing that really changed was the client. Judging by the inconsistency of the problem and the fact that it occurs in very different situations (talking about isps, operating systems, having other programs running which require internet connection) , I think the eve-client is causing the problem. It's also simple logica: no problem -> client change -> problem.
I'm just wondering tho. I have only limited knowledge on this subject. Well, the problem with blaming the client, is that CCP refuses to acknowledge that they have any responsibility in this. I also agree that they changed something in the code that made the client MUCH MUCH less tolerant of dips in interweb connections between our ISP's and their servers. But another problem with that is when i'm running 3 clients on single machine, only ONE of them will get a socket DC...then 20 mins later after all three are back up, another 1 or 2 will get the DC...but not ALL of them.
I have the exact same problem and me multi-boxing logis/ carrier in wh space it hassent yet.. but im just waiting for the situation when this problem gonna lose us a fleet or somting. |

I just resubscribed to this game after leaving for many years due to the harsh penalties of dying and the amount of griefing and pk'ing and random bs that can happen to a non-skilled player who isnt in front of his PC 24/7.
I just spent the entire day reading guides online to learn how to survive better, getting advice from wonderfully friendly players in the corp channel, so i can setup my ship to have a chance at survival, travelled across 40 sectors to buy all my gear.
I start a mission, get some aggro going, and then i get Socket Error.
I check my internet connection, its fine and i am able to refresh web pages, none of my services got disconnected, I am trying to come back in Eve but the client is unable to verify the status of the Tranquility server. I restart Eve again then it is finally able to log me into the character selection screen, i click my portrait and i get another Socket Error and Eve closes again.
I was able to come back in after about 2 minutes, just to find that my ship had been destroyed, everything i've been doing for the past 12 hours, wasted. I have no ISK, and you better freakin believe it when I say i am not about to go play with an Ibis all over again just to repair what I lost to a "technical difficulty you are oh so working hard to rectify"
My ISP is Bell Canada. I am on a 5mbps DSL. My connection is located in Canada, Quebec, Montreal city. I do not have packet loss or any other kind of problems with my connection in any games I play. My house is located 15 meters from an underused relay and have not gotten disconnected from any other MMORPGS i play in many years, not since the ice storms some decade ago. I do not have a router. I reset my tcp/ip stack on a weekly scheduled basis for good measure.
You almost had me again CCP, I almost started enjoying myself in this game again and it all had to go to sh*t because some of your coders are overworked and underpaid.
You will never get my money again.
As a result, and as a dissatisfied customer, I will warn my friends about your titles, the integrity of your game executable and/or servers and discourage them from touching your products even with a pair of gloves and a 30 meter electrified pole.
The ISP I work for, we have a saying: "A satisfied customer will tell a friend how happy he is with the service. A dissatisfied customer will tell 10 people how unhappy he is with the service".
Good luck to you all. |

I have been trying for the last 15 minutes to log and cannot even get in to the character select screen, sometimes doesn't give server status. When it does accept connection it goes through and says "preparing data" then bar stays at 100% and multiple socket closed messages come up.
Any dev input on this? I am in UK and my connections seems fine otherwise. |

"We already got your money, so we dont give a S***."
Not even an update on what they are doing to fix this. Nothing at all. They are so focused on getting this Dust crap on the road so they forget about the people who got the game running in all these years, US, The EVE Players who actually PAYS for this services.
If nothing happens I will think heavely into this the next time my accounts are up for payment. |

I'm having a kind of similar problem for about 5 days now playing and after a while the client stops responding connection died after some testing I've found the reason for that crap..
ae-2-52.edge4.London1.Level3.net this reouting point is causing the problem I've a packet loss of 75-90% there for the past 5 days which is extremely annoying and the fact that its still not fixed after 5 days is kind of a joke concidering we're talking about a hoster here.. for anyone else to test if that is the reason for your socked closed problem as well just use winmrt ( http://winmtr.net/download-winmtr/ ) and enter the CCP login server IP as target for your trace (87.237.38.200)
If you're on linux like me: mtr 87.237.38.200

Just found a possible fix on : http://community.eveonline.com/ingameboard.asp?a=topic&threadID=921650&page=52. Reave Tzash said hotspot shield (VPN) fixed the problem for him and got some positive feedback too. I'm trying it now and seems to be working so far. I was getting disconnected every 15 minutes and I have now been online for over an hour. |

I am in the United States using a DSL connection via AT&T. I have been having this problem since the previous 2 patch/updates. It is FRAKING ANNOYING!!!!
I can't PVP, PVE(mission/incursion), and I spend the majority of my time just logging back into the damn game.
I have tried to reinstall EVE from scratch. If this issue isn't fixed after Retribution comes out in December, I will cease to resubscribe all of my 6 accounts. This issue is fraking ridiculous.
If I lose a ship due to a DC from this socket BS, and CCP does not reimburse, I will most certainly stop playing EVE for a very long time. |

Evocati Arelius wrote:I had this issue a while back. I opened a ticket with CCP, and attached my Traceroute-info. This is NOT ccp-related, nor a problem with their servers / firewall. It's completely about ISP and ISP Networks. I remember reading something about a European network provider changing routers in the European networks, and subsequently caused a series of issues with routing traffic to England and GB (where CCP has servers). There is info about this on the forums, search and the shall find it! :) Be sure to attach your traceroute info too CCP when opening a ticket, as they forward this info to the ISP's. My issue was solved in less than 24 hours due to that. Thanx for that CCP! :) EDIT: https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&find=unread&t=145483Evo - out! sorry but no.
we have experienced it in my corp, all at the same time => socket error.
most of us are accros EU, but 2 are in Canada, and one in Asia.
everyone got socket error at the same time
-> NOT ISP RELATED
we were all on same TS server at that moment, no issue on TS |

I have reported a bug for the same issue, this needs fixing with priority it literally kills the game for those affected.
FYI I have Steam but rarely have the process running. Nothing has changed on my computer in the past couple of months however I seem to be getting very frequent drops. |

If it was CCP's fault, everybody would have the error, and I know a good deal of people that have never once had the error.
I have found personally that running MSN in the background sometimes screws EVE if MSN disconnects/reconnects. Everything else stays connected, but when MSN does that, I get a socket closure. I can almost predict it every time. I sometimes get as many as 8 socket closures per day, and I live in the UK. My ISP is Orange Broadband (soon changing to Everything Everywhere, their parent company).
I didn't used to get them, I played for months with no problem, but I too have noticed that I only started getting them after Inferno was released. Before that, nothing. |

People need to stop having this mentality that just because someone else who is facing a problem which he or she have never encountered before, naturally means it's 100% the other person's fault. That's just talking dumb. I expected a more intelligent response from EVE players like us not one a WOW player would have responded.
I am from Malaysia and I have tested this on two machines es with same result, however hotspot shield seem to have temporally fix the problem, HOWEVER CCP better fix this problem ASAP, this s not part of the service I was expecting from a P2 P game. |

I skimmed through most of the pages.
I've set up port forwarding rules for Eve My ISP is Optimum Online (I've also had this issue with Comcast) My router currently is a Netgear WNDR3400, most current firmware, and has been reset (Also happened on Linksys EA6500)
I generally run two accounts on the same computer and 75% of the time, they both close at the same time. Other times, only 1 will close and leave the other running (generally at the most inopportune time, in space)
Upon signing back in, I find several people having the exact same issues, some the next US state over, couple in other parts of the world, disconnecting at the same time.
What other info does CCP need? I'm pretty tired of disconnecting every single time. If it's something I can do to fix it, I need to know what it is.

Getting the same thing for a few weeks now. Almost never dc, now I get the double window socket lost constantly even if I am the only person in house on a computer. I thought it was being near Jita that was causing it but I am having it everywhere. I have lost a lot of drones and almost got blown up several times because of this. Please find out what changes in the Inferno release caused this to so many people. |

This is getting realllly annoying.
I think there might be external influences affecting me here though (perhaps along with others). I was running Test server last night and 4 clients all DC at the same time (TS was still working though as people were telling me I had DC'd).
This morning I switched routers and logged my main in right after downtime, has not disconnected once. However every other client has had the socket closed error multiple times.
I have been running pings from my computer to Google DNS server and at the time of DC I will have 100% packet loss for about 8 seconds each time. I tried this on my Mac at the same time to eliminate my computer hardware and cabling to the router from the equation and the packet loss occured there too.
Really don't know where to go next, I can't imagine customer support at my ISP would be very helpful with a problem like this. |

Get the 'socket was closed' quite consistently.
I play a lot of online video games, and I don't have issues like this in those games.
I cannot see continuing to play Eve Online after my current sub expires, if this is not resolved. |
