Well... haven't had this before. 8 accounts now, multiple clients running on same machine. Until this most recent hot fix everything has worked great. Now I cannot remain connected on one (1) client or eight (8) clients. It's random and doesn't affect everything all at once. Usually hammers some or all of my clients and regardless of file repair, tracert showing no losses of connection etc, there is no solid explanaition. If this is a solidly recurring issue like I've seen from reading through this forum post, it's safe to say it will NOT be worth my time to continue playing this game and spending money on accounts if I'll be wasting half my time trying to reconnect and hoping like hell I don't die on field due to a socket close. In the grand scheme of things... You're all pubbies. Fixed mine a month and a half ago.
My issue was my ISP. It took them 2 weeks to solve the problem and haven't had closed socket error.
However now I'm getting a proxy server didn't connect issue. Unrelated but it's annoying as crap. |

Same here.
Playing other MMO's, and there is no problems with the connection, same with Teamspeak.
So there must be the problem by CCP or some of there ISP.
And I cleaned the DNS cache twice, nothing helped. |

Increases the load on the line? 64kb's of data - dear god best upgrade those lines.
So do you have an answer to the last point on my comment about another way to fix the problem? As creating a workaround means there is a problem to work around so im confused as to why there is still an issue outstanding. |

At this time, I'm almost certain, that whatever is causing it, lies somewhere in the interprocess operation. I get socket closed alot, but only when my PC was running for some time. When I reboot, it is gone and copuld stay fine for hours. Still, disabling checksum offloading helps. I was unable to stay online for any prolonged period of time without that. |

Just wanted to touch base... I have been playing with NO disconnects since I started doing following. That was back on March 4th. I have been playing for hours at a time with this workaround with no issues at all.
#524 Posted: 2013.03.04 20:42 | Report So I have stumbled across something that has worked for me the last 2 days with NO disconnects at all..
I have been running Ping Plotter against CCP server IP 87.237.38.200 with the following settings-
Sampling= Unlimited Trace Interval= 1 sec Samples to include= ALL
I am running all 3 of my accounts on the same system with no Socket Disconnect problems. But if I try and play without PP running I get disconnected right away.
This is a strange workaround, but at least I can play!

So after a period of relative stability with the odd socket closed msg appearing here and there this problem has come back with vengeance and over the last 24hrs i have lost count of the amount of disconnects I have had from this problem.
And reading up this Post what a surprise there is no comment from CCP.....shock and horror...... I know to most this would seem like a minor issue to those never having the problem but if any of the CSM delegates are reading this what do you think bout CCPs lack of help or even suggestions? |

Glad its working for you!! I have had 0 disconnects since I have been doing it. I played about 12 hours on Saturday with no issues.
I am now running 4 accounts, all of them solid connections.
It is unfortunate that we have to use this work around, but at least I can play and I am having NO performance problems.

Guys,
I have had this on and off for years, it seems to come and go randomly, however its now back with a Vengence. My experience is a little differenet in that I can tell when its going to happen in that my EVE Client slows down and becomes un-responsive and TS sometimes crashes also.

I figured I may as well post in here to say that I've been getting frequent Socket Closed errors too. The more of us that post the more likely that something actually happens right?
We can but hope!
Tonto Auri wrote:And you still didn't tried the workaround I posted earlier?... Shame on you.
You do know that you didn't actually post a workaround. You posted a single line of text, then yell at people for not trying to do that rather than actually posting proper explanation of what it is and if it actually helps.
People are ignoring it because they don't know what 'disabling checksum handoff' means. Maybe you do. Great. Tell the rest of us.
And just... just don't be a jerk. Seriously. No-one has managed to confirm that your approach works, and until you explain it no-one will. Being unduly hostile that people are ignoring you will make them continue to ignore you. |

If people are smart enough to setup a DoS attack on EVE servers, I assume that they are smart enough to find network card configuration in their computers. If you don't know it, you could have asked, instead of throwing flame at me. Open the network card properties, and head to the hardware parameters tab. The setting is named exactly that way, plus or minus localization stupidity. There could be multiple entries with the same meaning (my driver has 3), turn all of them off. |

I get socket closed on all of my accounts the first 10 minutes I start playing and then I will get random disconnected on any number of my accounts throughout my game time.
Socket Closed Error started a few months ago with that patch. Rather discouraging to log back into 5 accounts and recreate fleets for my alliance :/
