STRONGLY disagree with this.
No system is safe at all during a Hulkageddon.
C'mon, I'm Salvage scouting in "Drake-Drag" and even I get targeted and bumped.
Get real. DO NOT MINE...simple rule as stated above.
mined through all 3 events never even seen one ganker^^

Welllll ...
First off, just to re-iterate a point the miner [ed.- ME] above seems to have missed - which is - that since they can fully insure their ships - having their ships destroyed - actually isn't much of a punishment. Ask the Gankers. They don't care. Blow up their battleship. They may make a profit on the deal. Last time - that was the major complaint.
Are you trying to argue that not getting the fully insured value for your ship is not a punishment ? BS ! It HURT when I lost my Ret to a random suicide in .5-space. I just can not believe someone that sounds half intelligent is making a case that that is NOT a punishment.
...
So ... how is it that they are not getting the fully insured value for their ships? Just which "value" are you talking about?
The value they'd like to get - the excessive value they were getting - or something else?
Insurance fraud was common place. Having nothing to do with ganking - people were buying ships and blowing them up because they got more money for the ship from the insurance than they paid for it. So - the gankers during H2 were actually making a profit on each ship they lost. My understanding is that this has changed somewhat - but they are still getting some approximation of the ships value.
Or were you just talking about not getting paid for the fittings?
What the gankers have said about that is that they got the fittings from looting wrecks (not miners) anyway so they didn't pay for that either. Do they lose out on the market value they could have gotten by selling those fittings instead of getting them blown up on a gank ship? Yes. Do they care? No.
Does it hurt to get blown up? Well if you're not used to it maybe it does. But - if you're used to getting blown up (as any PVP guy would be) - if you KNOW it's going to happen - if you accept that this is the price you're going to pay for doing what you want to do and planned for it - then it doesn't hurt at all. It's like getting killed in Planetside. People there would kill themselves because it was a faster way of getting somewhere else than running. Trust me. The guys getting blown up by Concorde are laughing (assuming they got their target). If they didn't get their target - they might be cursing - but that's because they didn't get their target - NOT - because they got blown up.
Now - I can't speak for anyone else but - I don't like LOSING. But losing isn't the same thing as getting blown up. Losing ****es me off. If some ganker gets me in my miner then I - LOST - to him. His job was to get me - my job was to get away. If he wins - then yeah I'm ****ed off - but not at him. I'm ****ed off at losing - and mostly at myself. If I win a fight - and getting blown up was the price for winning - then I'm happy. I won. I don't care if I got blown up.
If I cared that I got blown up in some really expensive ship (expensive meaning that it cost me more than I can afford to lose) then - I shouldn't have been flying that ship anyway.
Sorry I don't know what a "Ret" is.
So - NO - blowing up a gankers ship and having him get paid the insurance value for it - is not a punishment - it is an inconvenience - nothing more.
I mean ... like - do you think these guys have some kind of emotional attachment to these ships? I can assure you that they do not. Ships to these guys are as much consumables as ammunition. If you're going to PVP (ganking or not) - that is how you HAVE to look at it. If you don't ... well ... then you're just being stupid.
"Oh! My precious little Anti-matter charge! Oh! I'm so sorry I must expend you! It breaks my heart! Good bye! Good bye my precious, wonderful little Anti-matter charge!"
Bang
"Oh! My precious little Anti-matter charge! Oh! I'm so sorry ..."
Caring that they lost their ships would be as stupid as THAT.

I just checked the insurance price and payout for a Hulk and the so called full insurance costs 10 mils, roughly speaking, and the payout is about 35 mils. The cheapest Hulk, without any equipment, in the same Region costs 152 mils. So no, having an insurance on a Hulk does not help much.

Look up the insurance of ANY T2 ship, and compare. Not much different. ========================== Nothing is true, everything is permitted. ========================== |

Yeah, I know and it sucks. I just got the feeling, while reading a few earlier posts, that there were people who didn't know that Hulks are T2, or that T2:s aren't worth insuring, so I decided to write down a few numbers as general information.

I surpassed my goal of a billion ISK of Hulks destroyed. Not bad considering it was done with just a few hours of gametime over the last few days, I say. Hulkageddon 3 has made a madman of me tbh.

Alas that is not Tears.
Yeah there were a fair number of short, plebeian one line insults which are a dime in a dozen for any pirate. Still there were a few decent gems in the lot I think.
I do believe our C&P panel judges will pick a suitable winner. PRAISE THE SCOTTISH FOLD!!

Hulkageddon has CCP support. What will the bears say now?
Also, WOOOOO BRING ON HULKAGEDDON!!
No, Hulkageddon is not a supported event by CCP. This is completely player-run. If Eris likes the idea, that's one thing, but to reiterate, this is not a CCP supported event.

Congrats to everyone for the new standard to surpass next time.
Congrats to the winners of each particular prize they succeeded in obtaining.
Congrats to Phil for setting a ridiculous solo mark that I do not see anyone beating, ever. (prove me wrong, please)
Everyone is a winner, even miners. Especially miners and new folks to the adrenline rush of wiping out something forever. Ain't no reforming gear in mystical nodes here! That **** be GONE!
Miners.. go build a statue of Phil in each ice field as a tribute to the event and to helping your cause of exposing and removal of obvious macros that take isk from your plate. Also.. think premise of 'Saw'.
Again, everyone was a winner.

maybe create a new solar system 'phil' with 20 ice fields?
serious now, H3 was really exciting I loved to scout for others and witness some ganks.
can't wait for H4, there's quite a lot of barges coming out of their burrows after a week hibernation...

I'm curious why the Hulkageddon website isn't showing all the losses of the gankers that participated? I dunno how many of you we killed, but we killed easily 30+ would be suicide gankers. And not a one of the barges or hulks we were protecting were destroyed. What I found amazing was how stupid some of you were flying in with legions, abaddons and such to kill a hulk - seriously...seriously...LMAO!

Troll 1/10. I'd give you more but the comment about the t3's made it way too obvious.
For the benefit of anyone reading the thread and thinking along similar lines, the hulkageddon killboard is for tracking hulk deaths, nothing more. If you really want to track ganker losses (which are going to be negligible due to the nature of suicide ganking), then take some initiative and make your own killboard for HG4 and post the link on C&P. - - - Dian'h Might - C&Ps resident "internet kleptomaniac" |
