Yet we see here that the broken state of anchored bubbles makes it impossible to properly trap assets inside the POS shield creating exactly the sort of loophole that the previous change seems to be aimed against. While CCP may not reverse the many IT caps that escaped thanks to the bubbles going mysteriously offline this should be a higher priority to fix then introducing new faction super-caps.

That being said, the players that have escaped from the bubbles have also given their time to escape (some have been up as long as 20+hrs hoping for rescue missions when this all happened). The interesting part here though is that there weren't a spamload of bubbles. The cages were set up properly with the minimum amount of T2 larges needed to surround the POSs (6). There's not way that can get petitioned as bubble spamming as it is the least possible amount needed. I guess we now HAVE to bubble spam in case devs accidentally some more bubbles so that we can online them quickly again no matter which corp dropped them. In fact, maybe every corp should drop 6 bubs each. Just in case. (inb4 someone posts about the 100+ bubbles of varying sizes IT dropped on a gate when their foe was readying to jump in. GM's went in and reluctantly removed less than half of those.)

There were 20-40 bubbles per tower / station which is more than enough but way less than what is considered to be an exploit by CCP because it is supposed to be a strain on the server, not on your GeForce2 MX 200 that you got and still haven't replaced. There's no question that the bubbles were up ahead of DT and gone immediately after. I've got a Mael flying alt down there as a part of the TEST/Goon fleet. (It's good fun. I'd hate to have that much ISK bubbled up by an enemy op and it's quite fun being on the 'bubbling' side of it.) Anyway: congrats on the really good luck to the pilots who took advantage of the bug to get their ships out. Unless IT becomes more effective breaking the siege in the next 48hrs than they have in the last 48 hrs, it was only by the luck of the CCP bug that you get out with your expensive toys. And if was an intentional exploit by which the bubbles came down, or the actions of some bent CCP person: hopefully that gets rooted out and punished.

You are going to have a hard time convincing me a **caged titan with a 300+ fleet shooting at it, and a Titan in a Superfleet during a fleet battle, is the same thing. You have to plan for a long time, and risk a lot (like having your entire fleet away) to get a shot at a Titan like that. And now that shot is gone. There are spies at work here, unfortunately they are working at CCP, and they did a really crappy job of making it look like an accident. 10% of the bubbles went down, 90% of them were **caging caps+... If they offlined all the bubbles at least we could think it was an accident.

As a player of EvE online I am sure that you understand why this thread is growing and people are expressing their discontent with the situation and probably will continue to do so until CCP says "our logs show nothing", which is the standard "we dont give a crap, pay us 15 more bux" reply. Then another thread longer and more bitter than this one will appear. Even after the DT mishap there are still more than enough people in 6v to stop IT from doing anything. In fact there are reinforcement fleets coming in all the time. Now what if it was found out that an employee of CCP did offline the bubbles, Would you agree that all the Supers/Pilots and Caps be returned to that POS, well it wont be there after they do their "investagtion", or do you think its fair for them to be where they are at now? I personally hope that CCP does this quick and figures out what happened, If its a bug they need to fix it ASAP (which means 18 months) and if it was due to CCP involvement I think the ships that were in that pos should be returned there. However CCP will cop out and say "our logs show nothing".

Something about POSs and bubbles don't mix and they can just come up offline. So now you are the dev manager in charge of prioritizing bugs. It's tempting to ignore this one. How often does this happen and affect game play? Mostly bubbles get shot, or the POSs don't not get fully caged, or the supercap pilot does something dumb and gets blown up. Not that important a bug. That thinking right there: not so clear. Because while this does not happen very often, it's the kind of thing that can make a lot of people rage. It takes a lot of effort to do a siege like is going on in 6v. Yes, we like blowing up IT's POSs. Yes, we like shooting at the ihub. Yes, we like shooting the station. Yes, we like shooting IT's undocking ships. Yes we hear rumor after rumor of a big IT fleet coming in, and like hoping it might really happen this time. But we also like shooting supercaps. And we've put in the effort that unless they can take down the cages themselves, we should get to do our supercap shooting. We've earned it in our zerg-like, 'more time than sense', kind of way.

After the Clowns' H-W disaster last year it happened to all **cages. It also happened in Fountain campaign early 2008, Tribute mid 2008, Delve war 2009. All these times Clowns and their allies were the beneficiary. Seems conclusive? Well, have Clowns ever managed to **cage NC or Goons? I can't remember such a case. So if it was a bug no wonder it never happened in advantage of NC or Goons.

They're for 6 months at a time and just went through so CCP has about 6 months to figure this out if they want to keep me as a customer. Instead, I look at it this way - having played many mmorpgs I realize that the value of a character or assets in game is artificial. I could set up my own server for many mmorpgs and simply edit my toons to make them into godmode (instantly destroying their value). But anyone who has used cheat codes knows that it wrecks the game really quickly, no matter what the game is. The value in achieving anything in EVE, or in any mmorpg, is the fact that the only way to achieve it is with time and effort and skill. If the value of achievements in EVE is reduced or eliminated by allowing GMs or Devs or whoever to simply "/level 90" or "/makepos" or "/offline nmebubblez" then no achievements mean anything - that synthetic value is destroyed. This effect is, of course, magnified when there is only one "shard" and the events occur on the one and only live server. While I think ruining someone's life by firing them seems a bit harsh, CCP still needs to get this sorted ASAP to maintain their playerbase/customerbase. That might mean some employee discipline, but that is a business decision that is fairly independent of the playerbase; what impacts the playerbase is the in-game actions CCP takes to rectify this bug/employee-malfunction. I'm not sure why anyone working at CCP would do this particular action if they wanted to help some group of players, or, for that matter, why they would be motivated in the first place. If some rich ** somewhere pays a million a year for special privileges in game to CCP on the side, then they will lose that income along with the playerbase - when word gets out players will /ragequit (like me!) and then that rich ** won't want to pay anymore since there he would be the only one in an empty universe. It has to do something with the interference of the bubbles overlapping the POS shield. CCP did not offline the bubbles. Instead of complaining about it, perform your own research. Take the scientific approach to this hypothesis of "IT batphoning" . Go to a system in which you have a mass number of POSs established. R4pe cage all the poss with roughly 4-5 t2 large bubbles each. I'm not exactly sure of the number of bubbles you had thrown up in 6VDT, but I'm sure it was 40 + . Shoot for a number of bubbles close to this +/- . Once you have established a nice **** cage throughout your system, wait for downtime. As soon as downtime is over, log in and research the situation. Many of the pos bubbles should be down due to conflicts of POS shields/bubbles. Take note of how many were actually taken down then make claims based off of your experimental data. Dek Co. fcs are also aware of this glitch, fyi. Many of the bubbles should go back up after a minute or so.

Maybe a short report/checklist can be actively running while the server is online, before accepting connections, making sure things like POS force fields are up, bubbles are online, POS modules are online etc... or anything that has question marks about it. if there already is a similar process, or it is all automated, then the flaw has to be somewhere. If CCP needs more data, i would be happy to get some TESTies on the test server to get some data?

I was absolutely in love with Eve... until the T20 scandal. Before T20, Eve was another world, its own reality really - one whose inputs and outputs were solely determined by the players. I would write Eve stories, RP, basically really enjoyed myself... until the scandal broke. T20 was a reality check. It was a sudden realization that, hey, this isn't a universe, it's just a game, and anyone could spawn uber itamz in my enemies' hangars to offset any losses I inflicted upon them. I still stick around for the storyline, but ever since that whole BPO spawning mess, the gameplay itself feels completely irrelevant.

Because in the moment of invalidating the only reason Eve stood out amongst misfit-mmorpgs, people were still trolling, flaming and yet not realizing that they could be in the same place as the victims and in fact are. By either not correcting a known bug and letting an exploit go unpunished or by deliberately rigging the game itself, the programmers decided to take the sand out of the sandbox and put up a sign "do everything, as long as party x wins or we just think you suck". All that without telling more after 48hrs than the case being looked at. Paying for something the real life does to you for free is pointless. That might mean some employee discipline, but that is a business decision that is fairly independent of the playerbase; what impacts the playerbase is the in-game actions CCP takes to rectify this bug/employee-malfunction. I'm not sure why anyone working at CCP would do this particular action if they wanted to help some group of players, or, for that matter, why they would be motivated in the first place. If some rich ** somewhere pays a million a year for special privileges in game to CCP on the side, then they will lose that income along with the playerbase - when word gets out players will /ragequit (like me!) and then that rich ** won't want to pay anymore since there he would be the only one in an empty universe. I suppose logic doesn't really apply here.
