Will this include the number of petitions and escalations by the dirty botters? That would make some good pron.
And how much ISK you guys confiscated... *drools*
Seconded.
Also, I further would like to raise the point that any PLEX on banned accounts be donated to the various PLEX for Good efforts. I think that would be just swell.

Any update Ninja?
Or should I call you Spud??? That sounds weird actually.
Anyway, for those on bot hunting, remember (after suitable investigation) report bot first, then kill it.
And if in HS or LS don't waste your sec status on the pod (well, not more than once in a day on the same pod).

While I believe people who have a stick up their arse about macroers are as evil as those who want to cut funding to Planned Parenthood, chinese prison slave farmers and those 23h/day 15 account premade macroers are a problem.

Amen to that. I say we hunt tonight :)
Anyway, as for an update, I do have a few noticeable posts to report on. Both from the Tiny Miner forums:
This one was written in responce to the latest "banahmmer tears"

In another section of the forum, labled "How not to get caught", a surprising post from one of the bot users:

Kudos to you, Johnny. even if you area former bot users, I'm glad you came around and are trying to share your enlightenment with others.
EP pilots seem pretty quiet. not a whole lot to report on their forums.
as for some of my readers comments:

I would say you need to learn punctuation, but you clearly have a comma in there...not that it helped alot.
From what I can translate from the garbled attempted at a troll, I'd say you are calling me evil. That may be, but at least I'm not hiding behind my forum alt.

Oh noes it is an article with an opinion, LETS BELIEVE IT!!
Firstly, EN24 got DDoS from the start, even when it was reporting non-DRF stuff, the reason is because it is so easy to do AND because there was so much bull**** on there, they were asking for it.
Secondly, with the anom changes it wouldnt be cost effective to bot in DRF space, if anything next to providence DRF space is a **** place to bot.
Thirdly, anyone who has been playing EVE for more than a week will know NC try their hardest (always failing) to make their current enemy look like they are breaking rules and their current ally all innocent and holy.
If you or anyone had any clue at all, MOST ISK is made from moons and NC make the most ISK out of it, I mean ffs Mittani quit his job because selling ISK was more profitable than working as a trainee paralegal and Vuk Lau has confessed many times to RMT when NC are not in a territorial war. .

Really? I mean, really? All I said was that this article was some seriously bad PR for CCP, and that they need to step up their efforts to counter such sources in order to keep a remotely good outlook on them from the general public.
Stepping in cold, would you stick around if you saw information like that?

That article is a joke and doesn't for the most part even make sense. The journalist has mixed up half a dozen separate things.
I suspect a pro-botter has actually tried to stir up **** up by trying to spin things negatively, whereas the reality is we are winning the war against the bots.

Honestly I never read the article, I read the title and based on past, current and most likely future whines I replied to that.
I think CCP are winning the war on botting, either that or X-XXX has been become so advance that it is guaranteed to save your arse 100% of the time and that is why there hasnt been 'Another NC bot down' comment since Grayscale changed things
Focus on Moon Goo ffs THAT is what gets RMT all the time .

Since a lot of people are under the impression that CCP has people physically observe potential botters and that all they have to do to avoid getting banned is sit by the computer, here is a post from the GS forums from 8 May:
Originally by: hopgarden78
I know two people who got banned and here's what they were doing.
Anonymous A: Program used: StealthMiner Accounts: 3 accounts per computer + Orca; all on one comp Mining days per week: 6 Average hours per day: 14 Mining location: All characters in same system Mining equipment: All hulks plus Orca Profit per day: $250M approx (not even close to all level 5) Length before getting banned: Approximately 1 month Banned Characters: Every character used on PC, including 3 that were never involved in mining Banned Length: 7 days Notes: Was actually at computer most of the time and was present when banned; doesn't matter if you're at the machine.
Anonymous B: Program used: TinyMiner Accounts: 2 accounts per computer; two computers; total of 4 Mining days per week: 6-7 Average hours per day: 20 Mining location: Max of two characters in same system; moved between systems every 2-3 days Mining equipment: All retrievers Profit per day: $100M approx Length before getting banned: Approximately 1 month Banned Characters: Only 1 computer (2 accounts) was banned Banned Length: 14 days
To those who didn't wade through 32 pages of posts, CCP's methods of banning bots has changed. It is not perfect, and we still see botters obviously botting like CCP does not care about botting, but they have changed.

It is the forums for a bot called Ghost Suite. I don't know if we really are supposed to be mentioning the names of bots, but since it seems that CCP has gotten really good at detecting and banning people using this bot, I'm not sure they will mind this time. Judging by what I've read, using it will just pad CCP Sreegs' kill board stats

I've recently become a little bored with Eve... looking for something to do. TaDA! There is this thread... now help me out here, if I want to take my uber PVP character and hunt bots and blow them up, what do I do?
Do we have a 'method' to get to them in the various sec statuses? Not just report them, but actually blow them up.
I.e., to destroy a hisec hulk miner bot... xyz To destroy a hisec courier bot... abc To trap and destroy a null ratting bot... 123
I'm sure sec status hits come with all of this, but if you give me the tools, I'll kill the bots for giggles.
Before I get flamed, I'm sure i could figure this out on my own, what I am looking for is a group of people doing the same thing... teamwork in eve usually has better results, eh?

Petitions and escalations are Customer Service's responsibility. The ESTF is not the sum total of all of CCP's actions against bots. We're merely establishing policies and programmatic ways to change bad behavior. We also don't confiscate ISK. Yet. CS does in some cases so if any ISK has been confiscated it's been the GMs who did it.
We are starting to take a harder look at income generation however and will determine how to action once we've mulled over the numbers. |

Excuse me, but why are you guys continuing to post web site URLs, bot names and whatever? Isn't the text enough for us to read? This way you really go the extra mile to show average Joe how to get the most used bots, they don't even need to go find bots on Google.
I'd blank every bot name and bot site URL if I were you. Knowing that information brings no value to the discussion, it only brings in potential damage.
If I was CCP I'd mod all these posts and remove references to these things.

CCP can detect these bots (through some unknown to us method, which is good IMO). And we mention that frequently.
Any user who sees the names in here and thinks "easy bot source" is a moron* and deserves to be banned if they use it.

Hello again, I finally had a response back from eve. One account was deemed a bot user - from what i can gather by accusation not "evidence" although unproven either way as eve don't wish to discuss this any further... a shame as i can see many legitimate reasons but still - it's their game.
For clarification see below: - Eve warning info
All other accounts were banned due to "direct association" (Same IP I believe) and hence all 5 accounts were taken out of action.
Solution - I'm going to ditch/sell the targeted macro account and start a new one on another unique email address. Small note - if banned - don't forget to send petitions from all your banned accounts (if all have a unique email) as it gives eve GM's something to do
Fly safe all.
Damn son of a **#@%ú$&, I am stuck in a ban petition since May 5 because of sorry @#Çú$%& like him. I hope CCP destroys their kin and pours salt on their tombs.

The article also acts as if the alleged actions being taken have something to do with our game or our servers or anything to do with us. Nothing in this article is related to CCP or EVE Online in any way. If these attacks are actually happening they're focused on fansites. The article makes it appear as if this is somehow a part of our game or attacks on our servers and it couldn't be further from the truth. |

I have to agree with both Florestan and CCP Sreegs.
First, Florestan is right that the article does explicitly mention RMT activity, but at the same time (as Sreegs said) it makes very little (or no) mention about what CCP is doing to combat RMT operations or if any of the DDoS attacks are having any effect on the server. As far as I am concerned, all this article does it point out the intense rivalry between RMT sites. It is not about the on-going war between CCP and RMT, which is a completely different topic.

When EN24 was criticising IT for general in game and legal stuff it got DDOS, when it criticised PLs leaving the north, it got DDOS, when it criticised ITs demise it got DDOS, EN24 has been constantly DDOS since the start of its fox news mimicry
It has been confirmed already that the security on EN24 is **** and anyone can DDOS it freely and easily.
Not only that EVERY other anti-DRF (because thats what this is, it isnt to do with RMT really is it :P) hasnt been DDOS once, it is ONLY EN24, Mittani's rambling hasnt and neither has the other 500 blogs against DRF.
Now I dont know much about servers or security but I am a curious person when it comes to EVE events, riverini and EN24 are a joke in the tech community AND most people feel he got DDOS because of ALL the bull**** he has posted not just the recent made up stuff about DRF.
I mean seriously CCP may be incompetent about a lot of stuff but when it comes to RMT, it cuts in their own profits and that isnt something they would just ignore :P .

Seriously, Sreegs, you have to stop using "action" as a verb. There's a perfectly good corresponding verb ("to act") and lots of others you can use. This makes me crazy.

Ah give Sreegs a break. I'll give him credit, he seems to be interested in the community and interacting with it. On the other hand I'm sure he could be doing something other than proof reading his post. You're lucky he typed action instead of act.....I sometimes type completely different words, not just different forms of a word, completely distorting the meaning of what I type....so, it could be worse ;) It's the curse of typing fast....fingers tend to not type what you're thinking.
