1. Stupidisation: Removal of Learning Skills 2. Simplification: mission agents requirements 3. Disclosure: Removal of secondary mission classes. Heck, it was just nice to have about 20 mission classes, EVEn if they only were projected to a few basic types.
Please don't simplify and streamline the game any further - it might loose it's EVE charme... unless the complexity will come back elsewhere ;-)

And the lesson(s) learned: pay attention to extended DT announcements and *always* set a long (several days) skill in the training queue. The only annoyance should be with your own planning skills, tbh.
Pretty much this, CCP has in recent times gotten used to giving everyone plenty of advance warning. If you somehow missed the extended downtime warning you're a bit of a mong.
Frankly given everyone has 23hrs 59mins 59secs time to add another skill to their queue when the current one has less than a day to run, I'm left wondering how people are being caught out by extended downtimes lasting a hell of a lot less than a day.
My advice: get a skill monitor widget/app/browser addon/set a calendar alarm/whatever, and as soon as you see you can add another skill, add it. Surely most players are not away from their computers more than 24hrs at a time. If they are they'll simply have to adapt. For example - if I leave home for a few days and only take my netbook (not beefy enough to play Eve) or only my phone and NDS, I simply set a long training skill beforehand. Surely Makoto you have long skills you'd like to eventually train, but have not got around to? -- Frog blast the vent core! |

Have things been going smoothly so far, does it seem likely to meet the 16:30 target (or close to it)?

I like the changes to the missions, It allows people who like to pvp better options for making isk, to fly those expensive fun ships in pvp. I am also glad for the added level of difficulty this patch adds for people in null. It is also a plus because it means when I am in high-sec I can grind for bounties a little get in a pvp ship and go into lo-sec for some good fights. It's win-win all around, I personally think this change is a good thing and makes isk easier to get..Which gives me time to have more fun in EVE..To all of those that do not see that I have one thing to ask..Why so serious? Internet spaceships is far from serious business.

The very ones people are *****ing about. Namely:
- Spreading out mission-running activity to the rest of the cluster that goes almost completely neglected. Not only evens out system congestion but takes better advantage of this massive star cluster.
- Encouraging nullsec alliances to be more careful with their territories, the jump changes inevitably opening up more space in nullsec as certain reaches become less easily tenable.

you gotta love the arrogant PVPers (I PVP, but without the arrogant attitude) who use childish terms like "carebear" for people who live in high sec and don't PVP. When the game comes back on, the first thing they will do is look to see what war targets are online, and go to a locator agent to find them. WAIT, a LOCATOR AGENT? HOW did you get THAT? Oh wait, at some point YOU MISSIONED. Hypocrites. Keep spouting carebear, you carebear. lol thats funny buddy im the 1 thats backing the pve players yet you write this now who's not using their brains now numbskull lol lol
I'm agreeing with you in a sense, i just didn't know where else to slip that in.

I agree. The skill queue was an amazing improvement to EVE - I remember where you had to do the math so you could log on in time to set new skill training. So what if you forget and lose 6 hours on a skill that will take you 17 or more days to complete anyway. Big deal - stop being so petty. Unless of course you consider yourself to be skilled at level III, in which case I invite you to my wormhole.

the client is 16MB, but the database changes are huge, all the agent info that has to be changed, the player info for NPC standings, the skill removal/addition, the skill point reimbursement...

PvP players would continue to do what they do.
Nope, without PvE chars your PvP pleasures would fade. They provide us the ships, bases, power and weapons and they fuel our wars.
People could mine there are enough miners out there that this would not stop. I believe we have factions at war? Well this would force those who want to shoot at things to join the military when they got into the game. This would force PvP from the start. The ship provided by the military so your losses are minimal. Battles would be scheduled say every 30 minutes or so. Battles end, salvage pursues. Having multiple battles at once in different systems etc. Pilots get paid when they have enough they can go out on their own.
Eve has a large enough economy base as it stands that indy work would not stop, but would continue to produce, people would continue to build stuff, war would go on. It would force miners into lowsec to get their rarer ores. Which currently is done by reprocessing salvage from missions. Removing missions entirely could be done.
PvP players would continue to do what they do. They may not have tech III ships (IMO we have too many people with too fancy a ship so that's a good thing).
It would force corps to do more realistic things. Miner have protection, pewpew-ers would actually go out and battle real people. Salvagers compete for salvage after a battle.
It turns more real, and more interactive.
