No connected to this patch, but in some earlier patch notes I saw someone talking about updating core probe launcher info texts. He must have forgot The Sisters Core Probe Launcher... |

PATCH FREEZES MY SYSTEM AND MAKES THE GAME UNPLAYABLE!!!!!
I can log in and play for a few minutes, but then it freezes, won't let me out and I need to hard restart my computer. Petition in about 5 hours ago but no response yet. Very disappointed at the moment. I have no doubt ccp will resolve this, just had to miss fleet today..... |

I can log in and play for a few minutes, but then it freezes, won't let me out and I need to hard restart my computer. Petition in about 5 hours ago but no response yet, which indicates to me that I am not the only one dealing with these issues (as I have read here as well). Very disappointed at the moment. I have no doubt ccp will resolve this, just had to miss fleet today..... I, too, am experiencing similar issues on my Mac starting today.
Basic symptoms so far:
- Intermittent, though frequent lockups. Four per hour, culminating in the next bullet point, and after a break re-installing everything an additional two in 10 minutes, one immediately upon undock and the second 30 seconds after opening a chat channel. One while writing a petition covering my missing ship; the terrible irony is not lost upon me.
- "Stuck ship" events. (Suddenly finding myself in-station without a ship when re-logging after a crash in space with accompanying warning and request to contact support.) Examining what other players in my corp report it seems that I died (and was podded) shortly after crashing during the log-in warp back to station.
Advanced symptoms:
- Degraded system performance isolated to duplicate EVE Online processes consuming 100% of their assigned CPU core. These processes can not be task-switched to and, upon killing, are not the process I was experiencing the UI through.
- No alteration of problems after ensuring latest OS patch, re-downloading EVE, and clearing caches both through the game client and by deleting the on-disk cache files.
The first few crashes were bemusing by their frequency. Losing a ship to it, however, was not amusing. Not being able to even stay in-station and at least continue assisting corp-mates in their learning that way is frustrating.
Whatever was deployed during the last downtime has s*** the bed.
System specs:
- Mac OS X 10.8.3 (stable build 12D78)
- Early 2011 13-inch MacBook Pro using an external 27" Cinema Display.
- Connected Thunderbolt external HDD, with monitor daisy-chained through it. (Standard setup.)
- 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
- 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
- Intel HD Graphics 3000 (512 MB)
Plenty of free operational memory, plenty of disk space on an SSD. EVE is the only unstable application I have, and the symptoms only began today. This computer is basically dedicated to EVE, e-mail, and Chrome, and Chrome isn't even running at the same time as EVE.
Currently the game is unplayable; I'm not risking more ships to this.
Pro tip to those running on Mac: when you experience a lockup (can't task switch out) you can "kill" the EVE Online process using the following procedure:
- Prior to running EVE, ensure that Remote Login is enabled under System Preferences, Sharing. It'll also tell you your IP address there.
- Get a free SSH application for your phone/tablet (Android or iOS) or have another computer handy.
- Connect to your computer's IP address via SSH using your username and password (for your computer, not EVE).
- Run via SSH: ps ux | grep EVE
- (That's a "pipe" symbol up there, shift backslash, between backspace and return.)
- In the list of jibberish that's printed there will be your username, then a number. I.e. "amcgregor 1626 GǪ", make note of that number.
- Run via SSH: kill -9 1626
- (Use your number instead of 1626 from my example.)
- Enjoy having control of your computer back!

I am getting the same exact issue. For some reason it periodically disconnects me from EVE saying that the sockets were closed forcing to quit or restart. |

According to a GM reply to a petition, that happens when the client fails to receive 5 consecutive packets from the server. this is different than being usurped on the proxy or other messages.
Hope that helps. o/ Celly Don't mistake fact for arrogance, supposition for fact, or disagreement for dismissal. Perception is unique in that it can be shared or be singular. Run with the pack if you wish, but think for yourself. A sandwich can be a great motivator. |

Still no improvement to keyboard character handling.
I understand the UI is a very difficult area to work in. Hopefully by the next patch they'll have it fixed. Minmatar OutBond Sebiestor Journeyman Real-life Cyborg Part-time Poet Philosophical Sceptic (Will work for food / ISK) |

Retribution introduced a sound bug that I was hoping would be mentioned.
Eve clients for PC x64 all have major issues sharing with multiple soundcards. When multiple soundcards are available, EC usually just chooses the system default - regardless of which card is chosen in the UI.
Choosing a different soundcard when the client goes silent also has no effect.
The Eve Client also mutes if another application is using the only soundcard. But it only mutes sometimes - sometimes it plays nice with other applications, sometimes it doesn't.
This has been the case since December 2012. All subsequent patches introduced other bugs, but didn't seem to affect the sound problems. So it seems this is a core issue.

Tsukino Stareine wrote:cyclone still isn't very good. 5/2 split on a combat battlecruiser just don't cut it.
Give it 6 missile bays and remove the extra high and move it to a mid. At the moment the only realistic way to tank a cyclone is with an ASB and that doesn't work in pve and the cyclone is the only realistic option for solo pve for minmatar pilots.
Or keep the high and give it a mid. Give the minmatar some strength to work with. |
