Edited by: Istvaan Shogaatsu on 13/10/2005 02:36:57 Don't worry guys, you'll get them. Mine was a bit delayed too. Remember, that these magazines have to navigate your respective country's postal service to get to you, which as you well know, is usually a howling inescapable vortex of eldritch madness from whence gibbering cries of anguish issue. Here, check it out, a picture of my mailman delivering a package.

hmmm... How come it has arrived in the states and not here in Finland? We have a swift postal service over here. Must have happened something to it on the way to Finland then. Isn't it sent via Air mail?

These things should go out so that everyone had the simultanously, or as close to as you can get. How would you like last weeks paper to arrive today? Information is only valid up until a certain point in time.

It can't be the local postal services, unless they *just* sent the magazines - which shouldn't be the case ... Parcels from Iceland got here faster ! With standard shipping too !
Bah, these delays are ruining it

Received the magazine a few days ago (I'm in The Netherlands) and knew I was holding something special the minute I picked it up. Took a while to read it and I must say I'm simply stunned by what a high quality publication this is, it's so much better than what I had even dared hoping for! Excellent articles, amazing artwork, teriffic stories, beautiful lay-out and all of that on glossy paper. The 'thanks for the faith' message for subscribers also put a smile on my face. My most sincere congratulations and a huge thank-you to everyone involved... I'm blown away. Can't wait for the next one!

Thursday here in Denmark and still no sign of E-ON. This is getting too much... I have previously done a lot of mail correspondance to and from Iceland, both regular mail and packages, and it never took more than 7-8 days for a letter or package to get from Iceland to Denmark.
I guess it won't be arriving at all

I'm glad I'm not alone in my wait. I wonder if any Canadians have received there copy. I have a few complaints about the service so far. It wasn't until I read a post in the forum that I understood why I couldn't track my order. I wrote customer support directly and the only response i got was that my email was being forwarded to someone else. I think we should have got an email stating that we would not be able to track our orders! or at least a form response from customer support when they were contacted. Who do we contact if we don't receive our orders?? I'm getting concerned I pre-ordered this mag and according to some posters they ordered after the 1st and have received their mags. If you want more subsribers you will have to address this issue. At least provide us with a place to ask questions about our order.
Might I suggest that you ship those orders that will take longer first. This will help mitigate against long delays. Also please don't ask for feedback until the mags have been received. It drives those who haven't got it insane to read the spoilers and gloating from those who have got it. I recognize that this is the first issue so I guess a few logistical problems are to be expected. I will order the next issue but if these problems are not addressed then I will not subscribe or order again.

The magazines were sent from the UK via priority air mail and received by the mail delivery organisations who distribute, sort and deliver mail whereever you happen to live. I'm shocked and sorry it has taken so long, but I'm utterly confident that those who are still waiting *will* get their orders before too soon.
I'm afraid we are all at the mercy of our local postal network on this. Rest assured the wait for #2 won't be nearly as frustrating.

Only thing I want to "nag" about is that there are several places where the text is 90 degrees offset from normal reading for example the page with the summary of the heavy assult cruisers. This is cumbersome and can be avoided by using more pages. Otherwise I just love it, will be ordering more issues for sure.

Hi everyone,
Having read the first issue, I loved the content, As a magazine Art editor for 10 years I found the design some what lacking.(and yes I'm a picky sod)
1. Front Cover, as this is not a newsstand title, and is sold via the website, why bother putting words on the cover?, the sell comes from the website. (A wasted oportunity?)
2. The cover logo, shoved to the left? with enormous black space on the right, with a curious blob sitting between the main image and the logo, srry but it looks just so wrong. plus why is the blob copy aligned to the left?
3. Cover image, though nice, the other dummy covers you show seem to have more focus, the titan should have been the most imposing part of the cover, it ain't.
4. On the cover, Why use upper case fonts? Lower case lends to be more friendly, and helps structure the coverlines easier. with all the cover lines on the cover in upper case, your effectively shouting at the reader.
5.Typography is more than using regular/light and bold wieghts, the E-0N upfront section, lacked the following, as a report /news where is the structure? which story should I read first, which one should stand out? and be the lead for the section.
6.Mixing left and right justification, try and use it sparingly, English reads better from the left, ragged lines are harder to read, this applys for the cover and inside, for example the eds intro is difficult to read ( And dont get me started about having reversed out copy)
7.By making the reader consistantly rotating the magazine to read mini bio or tables etc, ain't clever, and it didnt make me want to read it
8.Column widths, as a general rule no colunm should be longer than 10 words, I found cetain colunms widths obtrusive for me to finish reading them, This is a magazine not a book.
9. Poor navigation exampe on P16, why is the intro of the interview stuck in the lower left of the page? I started reading the interview first.
10.The Story content is excellent, let down again by clumbsy design, one of the biggest rules to follow as a designer, is not to let the design get in the way of content. over embelishing pages with overlapping columns is not clever, it creates obtrusive dog legs, for the reader who wants to read words.
11. This mag suffers from "designery white space" acres of it, white space there because its cool, this isnt great design.
Overall the design feels rushed, while the editorial content is great!
Hopefully issue 2 will have a happier marriage of design and editorial.

I rather liked the layout. It's more like Maxim in space, as opposed to a more formal magazine.
