OMG why would you want to recycle E-ON!? :O
Just keep it, and then maybe sell it in a few years time to EVE fanatics that don't have the first issue for a lot of money...

Well my copy of EON arrived this morning, and I've just finished giving it a good read. My verdict....EXCELLENT! Good behind the scenes interviews with some CCP staff. The carriers look to be an absolutely awesome new ship class that from the looks of it, a lot of people are going to be able to fly and fight in. The news about the Tech 2 Battleships and the possibilty of the Tier 3 BS's also was something to really look forward to(you'll have to read the magazine to get the full details), plus lots and lots more but I don't want to give too much away to people who havent read it yet.
On the whole I was really very impressed by the whole magazine and I will definitely be getting the next one when it comes out.

You need to put a warning on the front cover, like what they have on cigs in the UK - I nearly lost my Prohecy while doing a rat mission...
Oh and shame it's full of eve-i adds.... that for me was the only bad part of the mag, taking it to work for some of the elite fans to read... One of the devs for the new Future Falcon Suite of Eve Tools, visit us here

Dear {insert name here) If you're reading this, then it's safe to assume you are a fan of eve. We hope that soon you will be a fan of E-ON too. Like EVE, this magazine is ongoing. This isn't some test-the-water special edition that we might follow up if the interest is there; E-ON will continue to chronicle the exploits of players, Corporations and alliances for as long as there are players willing to explore the frontiers of EVE itself.
It goes without saying that we'll be bringing you in-depth looks at upcoming game feature, the best new fiction from the best writers and in-depth player guides so you can get the best from you time in-game. What you may not appreciate is that E-ON's joruney is only just beginning, and if you think the magazine before you is good, you just wait for the next one. We have big plans. Secret plans, but big.
Which is why we hope you'll be staying with us for the long haul, this is the first instalment of your four-issue subscription; thanks for showing daith. We'll let you know when your sub is about to run out so you can ensure your don't miss and issue.
Enjoy the ride!
So yeah i found mine today as i got in from uni, just a quick flick through and ive seen the inside page ad by fix ( nice one guys ), and ads from ushra khan, and oberon-inc, a comic by winterblink; and something that really caught my eye, and ingame shot of the minimatar carrier! which looks remarkably like a ship from somewhere else but lets keep that one to myself. I'll go off reading it now, if you haven't already subscribed, what are you waiting for?

Received my copy this morning.
First up, while such details aren't really my cup of tea, it was sold as an collectors item, so I feel such things within the bounds of reasonable critique.
Condition: The cover (and pages) display numerous mild creases all over, especially along the spine. Laminated edges are rough all around, the worst being a small rip where the front cover and lamination are pulled downwards revealing the white paper innards in a shape likely left by a finger. Overall : a little tatty, difficult to describe it as being in "mint" condition.
Layout: While not leaving the bounds of being fairly readable, a lot of the text in the articles dissapears a little into the spine in a lot of the pages, leading to a bit of extra work to read it easily, I feel given how much of the layout can be described as "spacious", this was something which could have been avoided?, Otherwise the layout was excellent.
Content: I think this has been well covered, Will just Echo that trade tip #2 stands out as being a fact that hasn't been true for maybe a year to a year and a half casts a bit of doubt onto the accuracy of the rest of the article. Perhaps likewise, while the "popularity" figures given for the HAC's might be accurate historically, I would say they are wildly innacurate compared to actual ship demand of the last few months. The "Super Size EVE" cover article, Well I don't think it would have gotten half as nice a job had it been a straight dev blog, it stands out to me as my favourite article certainly. . ----- Apologies for any rambling that may have just occurred.

Hi Reatu, Keiron has explained this in a recent thread. Might be a few pages back by now, but basically E0N is shipped from a different company. The shipping tracker here at the site is linked to stuff shipped from the EVE Store. While ordering is handled from the EVE store on the website, the storing and shipping comes direct from the publisher. And I am not entirely sure that Magazines in the local post system can be tracked like a parcle anyway. But if you have an email with the order number, it is ordered and dropping a mail at the store reps just to double check is possible.
Good to see you still around Reatu. When you get your issue sent, be sure to look for an advert from a certain Freedom Fighting bunch.
Note to CCP: You might want to include that little bit of info on the order page in future. Or at least get a relay to the publisher where people can check that their issues have been shipped, be it here or at their own site. ------

Just like to say that was one of the most enjoyable reads I've had in a while.
My only two complaints are that every article seemed to end in "More next issue!" and that the ISS advert wasnt the cover ;)
aside from that, two thumbs up! :)

And, remember to turn to page 11 to see my face in the bitter-sweet victory of character-likeness.

Uk - South Wales here & got mine this morning.
Only read a few articles but a good mix of subjects, humour, artwork (amazing) and ideas.
My only concern is that you guys have burnt out on the first issue with all the "coming up" news - unless you come up with more goodies for us to drool over
Not a word against the mag from me.
This will be kept nice and flat and stored away from sunlight when I've finished.

Edited by: Wanoah on 05/10/2005 19:36:11 ... Some may disagree, but I believe that one of CCPÆs strengths when it comes to Eve is the communication between developers and the community. This is precious, and possibly threatened by the growing player base: the more popular, the more voices, the greater the disconnect between dev and players can get. Maybe not necessarily so, but IÆm thinking that itÆs much easier to have a friendly relationship with a small group of enthusiasts than it is with a football stadium of people or an entire cityÆs population (thinking WoW size).
Where does EON fit in with the relationship between dev and community? Well, it has exclusivity. That could be a problem. Are we going to have people holding back in their dev blogs because they want to save some juicy information for the magazine? LetÆs face it, one of EONÆs selling points is that it has some exclusive content not available elsewhere, and IÆm fearful that this could lead to a split within the community between the haves and have-nots (yeah, all good capitalism, but I prefer the ruthless market dynamic to stay in the game, thanks), and to a scaling back of the familiar blogging and forum posts from the dev team.

IÆm guessing that youÆre hoping for feedback thatÆs a little more informative than just blind praise, so IÆll try and come up with some kind of review.
In terms of presentation, this magazine has absolutely nailed it. Quite often when I read games magazines, thereÆll be comments by a reviewer telling us how gorgeous the graphics are. Sometimes the captions for screenshots will highlight the graphical quality. Yet the screenshots used look like they were captured in 640 x 320 resolution with anti-aliasing turned off then expanded to suit the layout of the page. So many times have I seen a total lack of justice being handed down in this department. That is emphatically not the case with EON. Every single image is high-res, in proportion, crystal clear, and abso-frikkin-lutely beautiful, man! The paper is decent quality glossy stuff that doesnÆt leave ink on your hands, and yes, the cover is extremely glossy indeed.
So far, so good. IÆve got the mag out of its wrapper and IÆve leafed through it just enjoying the images and the feel of it. I havenÆt enjoyed unwrapping something quite as much as this since I bought an iPod. This is all superficial stuff though; we all know that itÆs the writing that really counts. It doesnÆt disappoint on this score, either. If you skim a little of the cream from the top of these forums add a dash of experienced games journo and mix in high production values to taste then youÆve got a decent magazine on your hands.
There are several pieces of fiction on offer including no less than two stories from HellGremlin/Istvaan Shogatsu, which explains the interminable wait for the next instalment of the Hamish Saga I suppose. Yes, that is a mild criticism thereà We also get a new comic from Winterblink. Given that there are a number of reasonably talented fiction writers involved with Eve, I think we can expect this area of the magazine to continue mining a rich vein of form. It also gives rise to a concern, however, and my principle criticism. These stories, once published, form part of the Eve æcanonÆ û the game background that is so essential to trying to understand our world, and our charactersÆ motivations. Yet a growing chunk of background isnÆt going to be available to all players û especially newer players trying to suck up as much background as possible û unless they are subscribers. I sincerely hope that eventually these stories are added to the online collection of chronicles.
I donÆt know why, but IÆm a born proofreader. I can sometimes see spelling mistakes or typos on a page without even reading the text û a missing apostrophe is like a big flashing sign on the page, unless IÆve written it myself, in which case all the errors suddenly become invisible. My point is that there are one or two typographical errors that have managed to creep in, but this is pure nitpicking and will probably only bother that small percentage of us that really notice this sort of thing. Maybe I should get a part time job proofreading or something.
The focus is mostly on the players and that is the right focus I think. As Zapatero says in his editorial, æEve Online is its players.Æ I liked the interviews, but there is a risk that they will seem horribly out of date by the time the magazine rolls off the printing presses. The example that really caught my eye was the interview with Trigger: æToday MASS is no longer a part of any alliance. For Trigger, territory is of little concern.Æ Recent events with the reformation of Stain Alliance (or is it still Allaince?) make this look a bit silly. Even the advertising is great û how many magazines have full page ads for terrorist organisations, uh, freedom fighters I mean?
...
