Hello,
As the new launcher just came in lot of people are having problems, me including!
1.) If you tried to launch client, something failed, error messages AAAAAAAAAH 2.) http://cdn1.eveonline.com/EveOnlineLauncher/release/EVEOnlineLauncher_2_1_539169.exe download the file and execute it. 3.) Make sure you answer NO to the question about where to install the launcher update. Just so you verify that you point it to the actual place you have installed your Eve Online to. I had installed my Eve Online to custom location and the launcher fixer still pointed to C:/Program Files... 4.) After submitting the launcher "fix" in to your current Eve Online install folder, goto that folder. 5.) Launch "eve.exe" from the root folder itself (Make sure on Windows that you Right Click->Run as administrator) 6.) Launcher sorted itself out from here, validating client next and then let me to login.
These steps sorted my problems completely.

Just make, double, triple sure to check that you apply the "patch" to your actual Eve Online installation folder and don't start from desktop icons etc, but straight from inside the folder that has the patch in it to make absolutely sure you launch correct one.

I ran the update and the launcher broke. After a little digging it looks like it didn't update my eve launcher shortcut on my desktop.
I went into my Eve directory and grabbed the launcher shortcut from there and now it is working just fine. |

That would indicate that files are in use that are being written over at. Open your Task Manager in Windows or use "ps -aux | grep Eve" in Linux and Kill all processes like the Eve Launcher and Client. Exactly, you can't trust any shortcuts now. Everyone should make sure they launch the binary file itself straight from the folder and not use shortcuts. Yea i felt dumb as i noticed i had CCP browser still open somehow... Anyways the launcher shows offline mode (got it to update). so i guess its working for now. just have to figure out how to launch eve from it |

I don't recommend client modification. Not even if a GM says it is okay, or if it appears in the Support Knowledgebase.
You don't want to deal with the hassle of even a false positive detection. |

The patch there is from CCP itself and it's the same package that comes from patch server itself. Just hang tight then, CCP will fix this eventually through they're own patch server. This worked for me, but I had to run the EVE Online Launcher.lnk in the game folder instead of the desktop shortcut which was giving me python script errors. Thanks  |

Yup same here. No errors or anything, it simply says the server is offline and offers me the option to restart the launcher, which has done nothing. |

People having issues, find your eve dir/folder, run the eve.exe directly, bypass the sh!t launcher and login...
Also, once the new launcher works for you and you login, all settings are reset essentially. You can however run your eve.exe and have all your old settings and shortcuts as they were.... |

The guide didn't help. Patch applied to right place. All instructions followed to the letter. I just get the launcher coming up saying it's in offline mode. Can't even get eve to launch by going straight to the exe in the bin folder. |

The fix in this thread did not help. I attempted to install it using the instructions and it still did not function as intended. I am using the following fix to get in:
***ATTENTION*** -- TEMPORARY FIX
Repair and play.
1) C:\CCP\EVE\repair.exe
1a) If the repairer fails - re-run multiple times until it completes.
2) C:\CCP\EVE\bin\ExeFile.exe
The game should load and let you connect without issue..
DO NOT under any circumstances re-run the patcher or this will break and you will have to do it over again.

Note - This took me about 5 minutes for the repairer to run.

My way keeps working. I dunno what else to do. See, after I run the "patcher" (which reads my registry installation and goes to C:\CCP\EVE (ccps new installation path I guess) -- it auto runs the patcher and it won't work.
Even "run with administrator" doesn't work. I'm running Windows 7...
Edit:
Running repairer works, to get in game.. Running launcher will fail over and over and break eve again. |

BUT, all my settings are gone . Is there any way I can get them back without spending hours doing it one setting at a time?

Okay I used the launcher as normal earlier, was stuck in offline mode, same with Sisi.
I used the exe launcher workaround on Sisi and it worked fine. I then tried to use it on the regular client, and on the main login screen it updated with a couple of errors. Now if I use the launcher OR the bypass it takes me to a login screen with incompatible protocol listed as server status (and I cannot login).
When I try to run repair, it fails and logs an error (I tried to find the log, but it keeps disappearing on me).
Update: After trying to run the repair several times to capture the error log, it finally appeared to run successfully.
Launched game using the ExeFile and got in okay. Thanks Donathan Slade. |

I went to the ccp eve bin and ran the repair had to wait for maybe 5 minutes it ran and patched eve after it was finished I started eve using the eve ( short cut ) a pop up said could not connect but gave me a option to start eve and it worked. |

This fix is not working.
I went over the ExeFile.exe and it downloaded a new protocol patch. I applied that patch and it started AGAIN the launcher which AGAIN is ****** up...WTF CCP I WOULD CRY BUT I AM AT LEAST HAPPY THAT YOU DIDNT DESTROY MY WINDOWS INSTALLATION.

If you run the repair tool only once it will most likely Fail
you MUST re-run the repair tool multiple times until it fixes it.
I ran it the first time it fixed it. However in testing I re-rant the launcher.
This took me 3 times on average to get the repair to apply properly. Just try again, and I hope you can all get on. |

Yeah, I computer hard so my profile on my box is an administrator so I keep forgetting the whole "Run as administrator" thing since I turn all that protection stuff off because is annoying.

I ran repair in Admin mode, launched and it gave me no connection to content server but it didn't launch the launcher. It was a small box and on it I had an option to load EVE direct. EVE is up, it's all in the launcher content. |

Yeah, the problem is most people are prompted to patch and the patch just sends them back to the launcher and they get stuck in a infinite loop. The only way to fix at that point is to run the repairer like I posted earlier in this thread. |

I'm way behind the times with computers.
So far what I have is to try to launch the launcher twice. Both times it said 'Cannot connect to content server'.
It took a while to get there. Did the launcher update itself and then die?

This does not highlight the issue that the 'upgrade' cause the client to be corrupted and need to run Repair tool.. And for some reason, the repair tool will need to be run a couple of time and with long delay before it actually repairs..

This is what worked for me
Run the 'REPAIR' exe from the main CCP/Eve folder, wait for this to finish. Go to the Bin folder and run the 'Exefile' as admin, this then allowed me to log in as usual.
Do not use the short cut or try to login via the launcher as this does not work. |

debug.log in the root directory is getting this Error every time I run the Launcher:

I have just completed an uninstall-reinstall of Eve
1. The launcher still doesn't work : "No connection could be made to the content server. Please make sure that your Internet connection is up and restart the Launcher."
2. I was able to get into the client manually
3. I'm running Windows 7 on AMD processor
4. Devs please do the following : Drink 2 cups of black coffee, down a handful of sugar and punch yourself in the head. You are now feeling approximately how I'm feeling. |

I double clicked it and after like 10 minutes it started, so just give it time. A lot of time, and it will boot eventually. Now it seems to be stuck on "Starting..." though. I'm just going to leave it alone and see what happens. |

Running the /bin eve.exe file as admin (Win7) gets me in to the game atm .. launcher still thinks I am offline ... weeeee.
Hopefully they will get the launcher fixed soon, but I am in.

It's pretty obvious that they're either having server issues or there's a large network issue near their servers. Maybe network attack? The repair tool fails for me every time and when I look at the error log it generates, it states plainly that it cannot connect to http://client.eveonline.com/patches/repair_info.txt
When I load that file directly in a web browser it takes an extraordinarily long time to load. The repair tool errors out long before it could have loaded. I'm guessing that some people are having better luck at getting it to load.
The protocol error appears to be network related too. Maybe they changed something in the client that makes it slightly incompatible with the server(s) until it's properly updated?
I don't think this is going to be fixed by experimenting around and trying to force our way back online. It'll most likely be fixed when they can resolve the issue either with their network or client. It's too bad, I was looking forward to some online time.

If the launcher says you are offline it might be a firewall issue, it was for me anyways. It started working when i added an exception for the eve executables, i dno if the files have changed names because I have never had this issue before this patch |

now that you there you wanna find :
Bin
and inside scroll down to:
ExeFile
clicky clicky and there you go (worked for me)

Running the repair tool, it idles in the background for a couple of minutes and then pops a chubby that says:

But for whatever ******* reason, your programmer deemed it wise to delete the ******* temp files as soon as you click the OK button, basically, making you run the ******* thing again! Awesome work again!
After running it again and accessing the log file, it has the following.

If I ever did such a **** tard release at my job, I'd be fired on the spot ... and it would only affect about 4000 people that are using the app.... you just took a giant crap on 100k+ clients and .... AWESOME ******* JOB! |

I thought as much. It was stuck at 50% for ages today that I had to fix it by runnning repair manually.
CCP's launcher is a lot less robust vs the WoT launcher is all I can say - from the user perspective. Try shutting down the CCP launcher while it was stuck at 50%, it took several long seconds before you get any responses.
Edit: Dear CCP Atropos. Robustness is everything. Always, always, always aim for robustness. I've been saying this for years ever since your auto updater came out. |

If you open the Task Manager, assuming you are using Windows, you should be able to see 'repair.exe 32' in the list.

- you klick on it and nothing will happen - but after 5-10min later the repair.exe starts
- now you are happy but it "Starting..." and doing nothing for about 10-20min...(havn't stoped time)
- you think it works now until it telling you that it failing to download!
- but you are going to the "Bin" Folder and open up the "ExeFile" and it might work!

repair completes and it says:
"No connection could be made to the content server. Please make sure that your Internet connection is up and restart the Launcher."
Clicking "start eve" instead of "ok" worked for me after the repair.
CCP, please delete the wiki that says to delete the ini file... that "fix" broke my client further and I had to replace it from the trash bin.

There was nothing wrong with the previous "launcher". Click desktop icon, up comes launcher window, then click button to run Eve client . Quick and painless. What was wrong with it?
I'm still buggered with today's trash update, with error logs and incompatible protocols. Come on folks, test before you deploy.

You don't want to deal with the hassle of even a false positive detection. The patch there is from CCP itself and it's the same package that comes from patch server itself. Could not get it working despite all the good advice. So I completely wiped EVE off my PC and downloaded the complete build. At the end of the whole downloading + installing cycle it asked me "run it?". Of course, launch the bastard! And what launched: a non-functioning launcher. I only could get into the game by starting the exe file in the bin folder.
That really puzzles me. How many new customers would continue with a game where the launcher does not work and they have to find out how to get a workaround?
And, knowing the answer is 'none' - how many programmers can be allowed to launch such a crucial feature without testing it on a normal PC like mine?
I just can't get my head around this. |

Just to add, after repair finally ran launcher still wasn't working for me but running the game from exefile.exe did. |

Repair tool has yet to run properly for me. You can still get in game though by going to the "Bin" folder and clicking the Eve executable there. The actual client pops right up no problem so stopping freaking out. |

Check your task manager. I had some launcher.exe processes still running and so the repair tool wouldn't update successfully. Kill the launcher.exe(s) --> run repair tool once more.

This isn't true for everyone. I can load Eve directly but I cannot log in because I get an error about an incompatible protocol. Patience is the key, thousands of users are most likely hitting the repair tool and overloading the servers. That tool wasnt designed to help everyone all at one time... just a few at a time!

I already did that and killed everything possibly related to EVE in any sense, still the same.
I've followed every piece of instruction here and NOTHING does ANYTHING about it :-/ |

I checked and this was not the case with me but I did have a Remote Desktop Connection running and as soon as I closed that, the repair tool started. Possibly that may also resolve the protocol conflict. I wouldn't roll your eyes. I'm sure quite a few people just gave up and went about their day.
Anyway, here is my summary of the issues I had and their resolution:
- Couldn't use launcher. - Went directly to the executable (normally do this anyway). - Received "incompatible protocol" error. - Try to run repair tool. - Repair tool appeared frozen. - Closed "Remote Desktop Connection" on Win8 and Repair tool immediately started. - After running repair, went directly to executable (no more errors). - Logged in, logged out. - Reopened "Remote Desktop Connection." - Tried to run from launcher (still broken). - Went directly to executable (no error).
Summary: Try to run Eve directly and if you don't get any errors, do that until the issue with the launcher is fixed. Running repair tool (as admin) many times results in the same error message appearing within 2 minutes and the logfile reports:

Running eve.exe as admin in the C.....\EVE folder results in the following pop up window:

I'm more than prepared to throw in some ISK to buy the hamsters a few cans of Quafe Zero, if that will help Keep at it CCP Dev dudes and dudettes and I appreciate all your efforts, even if I don't get to play tonight.

I ran the update normally and it appeared to install successfully, however, I too was stuck in "offline mode".
I then:
-killed applicable processes -ran the repair tool (also appeared successful) -Relaunched program (from source, not a shortcut)
The update installed again but I was still met with "offline mode."
At this point, I came to the forums and downloaded the patch found on page one. Upon trying to install it (to the proper directory), I received the following errors: Error1 then after clicking OK, Error2. |

Im not rolling my eyes that much, just a bit bummed CCP would have this kind of problems. I have really high expectations of CCP and they have always delivered the best professional touch for running MMO and been doing really great job on it. This was just a bit unlucky to get so much compatibility issues from pretty much everyone 
But knowing my favorite powerhouse of developers, this is gonna get fixed and innovated in so fast pace that we won't even believe it

Are you sure repair is actually running all the way through and not just freezing soon after starting? You may have a program running on your computer (completely unrelated to Eve) that prevents it from doing so. I only had to run the repair tool once, but only after closing Remote Desktop Connection. There is a myriad of programs that might have similar conflicts, so try closing everything you can and then run Repair...unless you're certain it is actually running all the way through. For those, like me, with no success in running the repair tool and getting protocol issues. I just ran Chribba's Fix and I am now in the game.
I downloaded the .zip file and extracted it to my EVE folder as the destination. I then right clicked the EVEexe.exe file in the \bin folder and ran as administrator. The client window opened normally and I could log in.

You can make your eve folder smaller by deleting the patch files. There in your main eve folder with names like:
EVE_Online_xxxxxx-xxxxxx_win.patch All these files can be deleted and will clean up a few Gig in space easily.

You have something running on your computer that is incompatible with the repair tool. It took about 15 minutes for me from the time I started the repair tool to the time the repair window actually popped up. Then another 10 minutes for it to actually start repairing. Once that was done I could start Eve.exe to log in and play. The launcher still doesn't work for me, though. |

Finally worked after I deleted all my past patches in EVE folder and then ran it again. Unlikely that that is what was stopping it, but maybe worth a go. |

Just a heads up , if after downloading the new launcher you still can't use the repair tool ( mine was referring me to some log telling me couldn't connect to server)
Download the latest repair.exe file from here:
http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Client_Repair_Tool
Then switch that new repair.exe from the old one in the main eve folder.
Be patient, took some time to open and start but in the end it worked.
I was then able to start the game using the exefile.exe in ...\EVE\bin

What is this? 1993 with boot disks and EMM386 command line modifications. I think its 2013 and the expectation is that most PC games should work as reliably as a console game for most users.
I mean it works fine for me, but I'm still mad at the notion that PC games have to always be troublshot by the user for lack of a effort on the QA deptarment.

I logged into Eve perfectly after applying the patch... didn't even blink...
I assume that by saying "every last one" you mean those among you that use Windows...
As a Mac user, I did not have a single issue and the patch works fine...

I personally have no experience of that error, I only had python errors and fixed it by manually putting everything place didn't even need to run repairer, but I think your best choice is to keep running repair.exe at least 5 times first and if all else fails try reinstalling the whole client again. None of the workarounds to fix the broken launcher worked for me so I eventually resorted to finding the exe file in my CCP/EVE/bin folder and it launches me straight to the game login, no busted crappy launcher, I pinned it to my start and Im up and running! BTW thnx for the wasted time CCP, you are beggining to seem more like another crappy company I used to subscribe to any more of this garbage and Im going back to Guild Wars2, i.e. start listening and acting on what your paying customers want! |

Not sure if this has been mentioned, or if anyone is even having trouble with this anymore... But I was having trouble getting it to work the way the OP had posted (although the exefile.exe method will always still work), but I eventually stumbled along a method that seemed to work perfectly.
- Navigate to your install directory. As standard this will likely be:
- C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE
- Once there, find the 'repair.exe' file, and run it.
- This will take 5 minutes or so, so grab a cup of Joe, or whatever...
- All done? Good. Now download the file from here, but don't run it just yet.
- Navigate to your install directory again. As standard this will likely be:
- C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\bin
- In there, run the 'ExeFile.exe' file. Again, wait for it to load. It may or may not tell you that there's an update available. If there is, let it install. If there isn't, quit out of EVE and continue reading...
- Now, you'll want to run that 'EVEOnlineLauncher_2_1_539169.exe' file you downloaded in step 4. You may need to select 'No' at the initial dialog box if you installed EVE somewhere other than the default directory.
- Let it do its thing. If all goes well, BAM! You should see the shiny new launcher open and begin verifying.
- Wait for it to verify for 5 minutes, login, accept the new EULA, and hit the play button.
- Enjoy pewpew-ing some idiots into space dust.

I'm honestly having a hard time believing that you, including the rest of CCP who came up with this brilliant idea to randomly throw this onto the live servers, thought this was even remotely good ? You guys did not even bother to ask the players about how they would feel with a different approach to the launcher and the login?
I do not know if you actually have multiple accounts and play EVE with multiple monitors, or even play it at all, but this honestly ruined the way people like myself are able to play this game effectively. I currently have 8-9 accounts active right now, many of them cyno capable to help with my capital/freight logistics, and the new method of logging in via the launcher literally destroys my ability to efficiently switch between characters and accounts for when I need new cynos in different locations, or even just switch between my characters to play market games, PVP, etc etc.
In the end, I know I am not the only one who feels this way. The original way of logging in was completely perfect from a player prospective. I am all for changing things up if it means that the system will be better and may prevent botters/"hacking" programs(rumors on why they changed it), but when it comes at a cost like this, I have a hard time even understanding, let alone agreeing with the change.
Please, PLEASE, consider leaving ExeFile.exe or at least making a new system that requires the same, if not less, time to login and switch characters. Also, next time something as big as completely changing the login system is on the radar, let your players know. |

I'm honestly having a hard time believing that you, including the rest of CCP who came up with this brilliant idea to randomly throw this onto the live servers, thought this was even remotely good ? You guys did not even bother to ask the players about how they would feel with a different approach to the launcher and the login? I do not know if you actually have multiple accounts and play EVE with multiple monitors, or even play it at all, but this honestly ruined the way people like myself are able to play this game effectively. I currently have 8-9 accounts active right now, many of them cyno capable to help with my capital/freight logistics, and the new method of logging in via the launcher literally destroys my ability to efficiently switch between characters and accounts for when I need new cynos in different locations, or even just switch between my characters to play market games, PVP, etc etc. In the end, I know I am not the only one who feels this way. The original way of logging in was completely perfect from a player prospective. I am all for changing things up if it means that the system will be better and may prevent botters/"hacking" programs(rumors on why they changed it), but when it comes at a cost like this, I have a hard time even understanding, let alone agreeing with the change. Please, PLEASE, consider leaving ExeFile.exe or at least making a new system that requires the same, if not less, time to login and switch characters. Also, next time something as big as completely changing the login system is on the radar, let your players know.
About exactly this. Why change something that works perfectly?

Tried to use the super upgraded future awesomeness updater today and it told me I had to close the CCPbrowser process. I did, it updated and now my settings are gone. The way the OP says to get them back doesn't work for me and quite frankly I'm not searching through files to find settings...

I'm having the same problem, after the first update stuffed up the log on I made the launcher short cut. Then last night after downtime another update came up and it defaults to my C: drive and my EVE client is on my D: drive and so far I can find not way to change the directory for the update (If I click No it just stops) so after hours of frustration I still cannot log on and after searching the forums I haven't found anything that helps...

Horrible. Simply horrible.
Went to launch EVE today to set skills training, logged in - Button Greyed out in new launcher, validating (1/4) at the bottom, progress bar does not shift.
14 hours left on training now and after trying everyone's solutions to no avail, I'm thinking I'm going to miss it which ends up costing me money, for a game I can't even play!
Running the ExeFile.exe just gets me stuck in an endless patching loop & re installing/ manually updating the launcher failed.
Plz Reimburse the training time or make it so I can simply set what i'm training via web interface (EVE Gate) as opposed to having to go in game to do it. |

I'm not going to bother putting in an official bug request, because obviously CCP are inept. Start EVE Launcher today, Launcher just hangs waiting to download update. Look towards the forums for an official fix for the new problem (because it is obviously a new problem, because plenty of people are suffering it), but can I find an official fix from CCP? Erm no!! So, the easiest thing is just work around the launcher and use the ExeFile.exe, because I pay good money to login, and CCP can't even get that right!! I shouldn't spend an hour of my life researching how to login to a bloody game! I can't believe I've put so much of my money over the years towards a bunch of monkeys, who just trip over one balls-up after another. Yes, I'm pissed off!
I might try the repair tool later...well, it's either that or the more rewarding experience of poking myself in the eye.

My launcher stalled at update mode as well this morning. I executed the EVE repair application (you find it in your EVE folder), and it detected a missing block in the launcher file and corrected it. I may have found a work around.
What I did was...
1. Repaired the client. 2. Applied the patch after desperately trying to use the .exe's to load the clients (Failed repeatedly). 3. Tried logging in using the English section, no luck. 4. Downloaded the patch from the CCP Post above this one, (EVEOnline_2_1_545736.exe) 5. Tried to login again with English, failed. 6. Attempted to login with the German Language, instead of English. Actually logged into the game. 7. Changed the language in game from German, to English, I restarted the game. 8. Switched my language from German, back to English. Logged back in, game was in English.
I'd love it if someone tested my theory on this. Possibly refine it. |

It got me a little farther. It made the new launcher appear but will not update. The download bar just continues to say Downloading Updates. Using the exe file in the Bin directory will open the client it's self but will also not work for me. every time i open it it says theres a patch so it downloads it. keeps doing it every time I open the client. I problem seems that it will not update the new patch. Fight, Fly, Crow... Bangerang |

It's worse then that, he's dead Jim. No really. I can't get the new client at all. It updates to 100% on 3 of 4 then freezes, every single time. Every DT breaks my ExeFile setup and fixing it makes the new cient re-install. I lose about 45 mns of playing time becuase of this. I only have about 3-4 hours of playtime dring the week (realisticaly, usually 3) and if im down for hour every day becuase DT breaks mysetup and the new client loader refuses to wrok, well, that drops me down to about 2 hrs of play time. That's not worth it, not for $15/month. CCP needs to figure this loader thing out soon. |

Just in case people cannot find the original (39 pages atm) thread regarding how bad the launcher is, CCP have moved it so that its difficult to find, in the vain hope that people will stop complaining.

Launcher on my laptop is now non-functional. Working just a few days ago.
It failed to update today and now is broke.
The update bar at the bottom never shows progress.
Enter password and the "PLAY" button greys out.
When trying to bypass it says incompatible protocol via bin\evefile.exe. When trying to repair launcher it says: NoneType object is not subscriptable.
Please revert this launcher. It has caused nothing but headaches for many many users.
It doesn't matter if it can patch quicker if it can't, you know, launch the game. |

Same problem here. Can download it from folder CCP--->Bin--->Exefile But that do not work, it downloads patch over and over and over again. Repair tool wont work cause it fails after 0,03 seconds from start. I wish i could reinstall game but DOWNLOAD the game files did not work.... it seems every patch fails with launcher. Its nice to loose valuable gametime every week. |

I had the same issue, unable to validate after installing spybot, uninstalling spybot did the trick, thanks. I think it has something to do with the proxy settings in spybot as I couldn't access any internet services after removing spybot until I removed the proxy settings spybot puts in place. |

Deleted _trinity_dx9_deploy.dll, launched the game again, re-downloaded the patch and all is well.

Hi I was wondering if anyone has an answer to this I am returning to eve and have a different computer from when I origanaly played I try to download the game client and it extracts the files and then hangs with a chinese letter followed by letters D2. I have disabled firewall and tried the offline installer and same thing this is very annoying and any help would be greatly appreciated

that part is not working now, yesterday it was fine, now there is some updte that wont freaking work.

Clearing the cached user names worked for me (login boxes appearing the moment the cache was cleared), prior attempts to reset launcher settings did not.
Though did have to restart launcher to get past a greyed out "Play" button. |

Launcher updates... Trying to start EVE after this one gives me a cute little window with a progress bar saying "Downloading launcher update" which closes upon completion. Instead of playing EVE I can click that thing occasionally. Starting EVE is out of the question because the launcher update makes that option impossible. Using the repair tool or downloading the client again after launcher updates is getting really frustrating.
Edit: After running the repair tool I'm getting a new window! This one says "Exception" and gives a huge amount of mysterious text... |

So I got a "downloading"/"installing" infinite loop. Sometimes the "update" would download, the launcher would quit and never load again. Manually starting it would repeat the process. So I started exefile manually, it downloaded the update, installed it and started the launcher. The launcher then trashed everything all over again. So I ran repair, that downloaded another update all over again, and then finally I could use exefile - the launcher is still screwed.

My very issue: minus the fact that yours works - mine doesnt 9 1/5 hours now...nothing and NR to my ticket. ut for those of you out there - launcher issues i have read almost everything in these and got really frustrated with how many different places there are for the same issue:

My issue - While playing game froze then crashed. Have since not been able to log on. When i can get the launcher up, i press play, button reads launching, then turns back to play and at this point disappears. Also when downloading the launcher again i log on as usual at which point the launcher is visible to my eyes - but disappears when it is installing files. However, task manager has the launcher still running i just cant see it.

This time I didnt have any problems with the launcher update... of course, it's a matter how you define problems. It didn't work flawlessly, but at least I can run the game through it.
One problem is that the shortcut in the windows (Win7) taskbar changes with every update, so the old "pinned" one points wrong.
Problem: Seems like if I update the launcher and next time I play the game by using the old shortcut, it will no longer work and I get stuck in the "no contact, restart launcher" mode.
Solution seems to be: Start the launcher, let it update and restart itself. Now while it's running, remove the old shortcut, and instead pin the new one to the taskbar. Now it will work.
CCP, is it really necessary with this hands-on process with every update? Why change the shortcut with every update?? I have feelings, I can smile - and murder while! |

I actually never had any problems with the launcher except when I first installed. I didn't do any fixes manually, so I guess it magic'ed itself into working. Feel for those having problems. That being said, I use a quick launch shortcut pointed to the .exe file to launch the old way. The Launcher is exceedingly annoying and CCP needs to dump it. |

Funny thing is I run repair.exe several time and every time it failed. I started launcher few times between repair attempts and every time I had to kill it because it was hanging either at "Initializing" or at 50% of downloading patch. And now apparently it was able to download and update everything within few seconds. Go figure.

From reading in a couple of different threads - it appears that one of CCP's data servers is sending out random corrupt data or randomly withholding data. So you keep running patches until you luck out getting installed.
1+ hour here trying to patch - no luck. With 2 clients to "patch" I guess I'll be here half a day.
Nothing like complicating an interface needlessly to run your customers off.

I had more than one launcher instance in my task manager, I think I clicked it too many times. Manually shut down both instances and started launcher again, at which point the problem was resolved. |

I have been having problems with launcher just crashing straight from the start lately... I am running WIN8 now and this is getting on my nerves.
Most likely my problems are because my HDD that has Eve files has been a bit funky, but still... SO if I get some problems by the launcher not starting at all the game itself or anything else, I use repair and it does nothing. It takes like 3 seconds and nothing happens...
When that happens I just remove launcher folder from the eve folder and run repair, it has been helping so far  :P |

Getting the same error, launcher doesn't update itself, I've tried to run eve.exe from the bin folder but get an error while trying to update the client (6MB download), repair fails and now I haven't been able to log into the game for a few days, and I can't even uninstall and re-install since I can't download it again !  |

This is what i get when I run the eve.exe from bin folder, and get prompted to update. Press yes and get this, any ideas? |

If you are going to make me install and use a launcher which adds steps to logging in and uses up resources and makes mutiple accounts a pain in the ass to use, could you PLEASE

PLEASE make sure it auto-detects a patch, rather than sits there doing nothing during downtime and then lets me log in and the client goes, 'oh there's a patch, derp' and then i have to restart the launcher and wait for the patch.

launcher doesnt work well its opening but not says "client ready" on the bottom one .. its stay like that ... and not loading well too half of the luncher background stay gray
even -¦ start the game wiht "evefile.exe" its working slowly and after entering the game -¦ m getting
"Socket Closed" error after like 1-2 min every time ...
this problem started lastnight... was ok last 2-3 year.. -¦ didnt change anythink on my pc lately .. -¦ have 2 pc both have the same problem... my both account same problem

So went to play today, and I get this message after logging in and hitting "Play" in the launcher:
"The authentication token provided by the launcher is of an invalid format. Please try again or contact EVE customer support."

Yeah I dunno, since this latest round of updates nothing works for me. repair.exe just gives some database error, it said it logged it somewhere in my Temp folder but when I looked there it was empty. Gave up after 3 tries - seems to be no download resume or partial download support - just some crummy HTTP GET.
Removed and deleted all traces of the client, downloaded the latest one and reinstalled - same ****, Launcher update doesn't work properly, repair.exe doesn't do anything.
Logged a bug with CCP, but probably they don't even care, might as well just cancel my subscription for now. |

Yesterday I tried running the launcher and the form where one would enter username and password was not loading, then after a few seconds it threw a horrifically long error (sfdrse-0fsdtadkfts-blah-blah). After several tries that form stopped erroring out but at the same time stopped even attempting to load. So there I was, looking at an otherwise working launcher, which had no way to allow you to log in. Luckily, eve.exe worked. |

Whenever I came back to EVE (paused before the Launcher was introduced), I was told to use repair.exe for updating, and start EVE by running the bin\exefile.exe. Everything is just fine and I can only relay that advice ;) |

Think I must have been lucky - I saw all the EULA stuff come up again and I quit the client. Pressed 'PLAY' on the launcher again, and everything loaded and connected fine. |
