I see no fault on CCP back. The rules have been there from day one. 4S knew there are some that would take offence to it. The same as some take offence to the rednecks wearing sheets in america.
Now what 4S did was wrong from the get go, I read most of the 18 pages, and in this mess the entire corp has canceled their accounts.
This was the last act of "up yours" world that they are well known for.
They be gone we be staying. Enjoy your game.

If the people that picked the name didn't know that there name could be banned or changed in the first place than they should have. 2.5 years or 10 latter it doesn't matter.They were just trying to get away with it. they did for a while and now its over. pick a name that won't get changed in the first place kids, or quite your whinning when they(CCP) catch up to you.

WTS: Clue. You really havent read any of these discussions have you? The name change is only the first part. It goes much deeper so when you actually go through and read everything then come back. when you understand the whole situation and understand what a double standard is then come back and post.

The whole issue comes down to this, and I'm going to quote myself on it.
Reagrdless of wether or not 4S decision was corrct or would be reversible, the folliwing issue has not been adressed or even mentioned AT ALL:

Well I would not be calling this gm an idiot. ccp has a naming policy and is not stictly enforced but is there if someone brings it to their attention. lets face it there is countless corporations in eve and would be hard for them to monitor them all manually on top of running this game. everyone who plays the game has agreed to this policy. personally I have never heard of 4s in rl and ingame so it makes not matter to me but if someone can provide evidence that this name is offensive to one person I say more power to them and petition ccp about it. the real problem here is 4s' reaction was really childish and shoiuld be punished severely ( perma band or make their members startover with new characters).
Isn't this a roleplay game set far in the future where earth and it's politics are long forgotten? so names like 4s, SAS, North American Alliance, the French Force alliance, etc, etc would not be viable as these organizations existed thousands of years ago and would have been long forgotten. On the other hand I guess you could say these organizations could exist since the general character ( in a roleplay aspect) shouldnt even recognize these names.
these are just some random thoughts i had at work while trying to hide from the boss..

Not only that Rod. But one of those corportations took part in blowing up a rather expensive outpost about exactly teh same time this happened...

The reason this has not been addressed is that the only ones who know are CCP and those who filed the petitions. The rest is pure speculation and doesn't solve anything.
In any case, this maybe something for CCP to concider, but is far from the central issue.

Umm just a slight discrepancy in regard to your statement a Juinor GM was indeed responsible for the SAS change however he/she was not responsible for the 4S name change that was taken by senior GM's and as the devblog says the desicion is final.
