Anyway, I will be pushing an update tonight that fixes minor UI glitches and I will also be removing the tooltip with Wins/Losses when you mouse over character's name. This is to remove the voting bias.
Do you have any other quick suggestions while I am at it?

Only 14 in the top 100! As a suggestion probably more weighting on %age wins once character pass a certain threshold of wins/losses. |

I agree, different strokes... The chin tattoo on women always looked a bit too much like a goatee to me, and I have not a fan of facial piercings or zombie eyes either. Maybe it is because I see this sort of thing daily on the bus (there is a guy with a big Decepticon symbol on his forehead, and almost everyone I know and live with have multiple tattoos) since I live in San Francisco.
This is all just a matter of taste of course since there are a nice mix in the top 100. |

I am quite impressed with activity so far: 50,000 votes when New Eden Faces was launched, 67,000 votes after the first reset, and now we are up to 118,000 since the reset last week. All in all 235,000 votes since launch!
One thing I noticed is there are a lot of great characters with high number of wins. Everyone in top 100 has 82+ wins, and #1 as of right now has 94 wins. That's 12 point difference over 100 characters. And right now leaderboard has a few characters with the same # of wins, which makes Leaderboard position irrelevant because they are displayed in something like "first come first serve" basis.
I might take Ariel Dawn's advice and introduce a winning percentage sorting after a certain number of wins. That shouldn't mess anything up, other than change ordering of some characters in top 100. Creator of New Eden Faces -> www.newedenfaces.com |

Your website is still easily manipulated. Allowing people to vote on the same picture multiple times and to skip simply by clicking a bookmark on their browser. On top of that, there is very little diversity in the pictures of the females. But hey, it is your website...you want people to be able to stack votes...I guess that is your choice.

The top 14 haven't had any ratios that differ much from each other since the last update, so whoever is vote stacking isn't doing a very good job of it. I vote for the avatar that shows the most work: The one that has a manipulated bone structure unlike the base setting, proper lighting, and a hint of emotion, not the "pose, click, done!" types. And as far as I can tell, the top 100 deserve their spots for one reason or another - diversity or not.
Bravo on the website, I for one am addicted. |

The server has crashed because eveapi response object was undefined. That's the first time I encountered this error.
I have added validation measures so it doesn't happen again in the future.

Awesome work, just a thought for the future if you want Nova, maybe even get rid of the win:loss nums and just give percentage, or maybe even percentile to reduce drive for competitive voting, maybe not necessary now but just a thought.
Also, in a future revision would it be possible to widen the space slightly between the portraits? I cover each one to judge the other better. Thanks again for your hard work. |

The server was down again just now, but it's not entirely my fault. There was a problem connecting to the database; something was wrong on their end (MongoLab).
I wish the server could just restart itself when it crashes, since it does not, I have to do error validation on every single thing to avoid server crashing all together. This was the first time the app crashed due to database connection error.
The website should be up and running now! Creator of New Eden Faces -> www.newedenfaces.com |

Update (June 27, 2013)
Improved security: Each vote request will require a nonce - randomly generated hash string, which will then be matched with the server for validity. This is in addition to existing checking for voted characters and IP addresses. (Thanks @Danica Kaliinen)
Hall of Shame: The top 25 worst characters will go here. I advise not to look, some characters will leave an image so awful in your head, that you won't be able to erase it.
Stability: Added more error handlers to prevent a potential server crash. Creator of New Eden Faces -> www.newedenfaces.com |

What are the criteria for appearing in the Top 100? Seems to be a minimum number of total votes. How many, and are there any other limitations? |

Currently Top 100 and Leaderboard views are sorted by the total number of wins. I've tried other methods, but they all seemed too volatile, i.e. leaderboard would change too frequently to be of any use.
Perhaps there are clever algorithms for this kind of thing, but I am just not aware of them. Creator of New Eden Faces -> www.newedenfaces.com |

There are times that I have also felt obligated to vote for or against certain Eve personalities and I am sure we are not the only ones considering how high Vile Rat scores. Also when I am having a difficult time deciding I will often side with the more active forum poster or "familiar face." There are also those occasions where I just find it difficult to vote for someone due to their name ie "Semen Drinker" "Slutface Mcgee" or "Dirty Sluts." I think I also tend to give bonus points to all those good looking non Sebiestor/Achura out there when conflicted between two characters. |

@Tollen Gallen: I am aware of the problem, it's related to the "feature" that prevents you from seeing other characters until you vote on your current character pair. I haven't found the exact problem what that may be causing this behavior. Creator of New Eden Faces -> www.newedenfaces.com |

Nova Kierra wrote: - remove the lowest ranking character every 6 hours instead of every 2 days - reset the leaderboard every week (display old results in the History/Archive page) .
Removing 120 characters every month seems like a good portion of the database. Looking at the "hall of shame" I would imagine cleaning out the current 25 over the course of a month or two is more than enough.
Every week also seems a bit frequent. I'm not sure if I will be logging on once a week. I do think the occasional reset does work with the total votes (instead of ratios) since new players total wins and loses are otherwise behind. |
