Actually JF was in the process of kicking inactives. So go figure, its size DID shrink over that night.

If I understand the the background for this correctly, this is the Caldari hosted event? (if I'm wrong, ignore this post :P ).
Selection could then be based around the concepts of this region. Profit. For the most profit driven events, one could look at such things as F1 motor racing. From there, all sorts of interesting things occur. Constructors championships, pilots leagues etc. etc. So,how about making the teams up out of the ship builders, super rich factions etc. Basically placing an huge entry fee on the event and a massive payout at the end (with sizable profits made by the caldari of course. The teams that enter foot the bill for building the ships and are forced to recruit pilots from whatever factions etc. they choose. This then smoothly leads you into setting up regular events, hosted in many systems blah blah blah. A monster is born and the people are happy (well, as happy as any bunch of players can ever be :P )
p.s. If this idea replicates any idea already put forward, I appologise. The whining on the first page kinda made me just skip to the end and post :P

Edited by: OneT on 26/12/2005 12:25:00 ok my basic opinion and i am by no means a big PvPer or even a good one is
basically the rules are the rules and the compition of who is the best real PvPer it is a test of who the best is at adapting to these rules
example if the rules say u start 50km from your aponent that is where u are going to start so setup your ship accordingly dont complain that it should be 70 or 30 because youve thought of a good setup for those ranges everybody has to deal with the same rules and that is the test

I agree.. for those alliances who choose not to participate, the smaller ones who were unfortunately uninvited should be able to fill in there spaces, i guess depending on whos next going down the list. ----------------------------------- about:blank |

Lemonde - just a questions / clarification regards the logistics of all of this:
Will we need to centralise all our ships and kit for this event, or will the Jovians be helping us out with some nifty transportation techniques. For ourselves, at least, our pilots are currently engaged in combat ops and the equipment and ships we intend to use are seperated from their pilots (and means of large scale transport) by a number of jumps.
If we need to get everything to New Caldari, for example, we could do with knowing that asap.
Thanks :)

The Jovians will be there helping out, no doubt.
Contestants will be transported to the tournament location 30 minutes before their fight starts. They will need to be flying their ships and remember their ammunition. Their location at the time of transport is irrelevant.

Will there a be a corp tournament of this sort as well, where alliance corps arent allowed to participate, cause many large pvp corps, many of which are larger than alliances would love to participate and would be very competitive.

I know this sounds like whining, but I just hope these prizes are not as great or greater then the ones handed out for the Colossus championships. The amarr prizes for the amarr championships were and still are worth a ton of isk, however the prizes handed out to my team have since become common among alot of pilots. I thought with the new clone jumping ability that having been given +10 standings to caldari state would mean I could clone jump anywhere within, however I was wrong, and +10 standings for Caldari state doesn't increase my standings for any corporations, making it a useless prize.
A year later and I'm still not happy w/ the prizes I was jipped on.

Just wondering. Imagine this scenario:
Team A vs Team B.
Team A kills Team B's Battleship, and Team B kills Team A's Frigate. After 10mins there's no other kills. You'd expect Team A to win because they killed the battleship whereas B only killed a Frig. But with your rules of 'Equal numbers = Cheapest win', its the side that lost the Battleship that wins.
Intended?

Edited by: Mather Maelstrom on 26/12/2005 23:33:54 I see some alliances and independent corporations displeased about no participation, did those alliances first even form a team that is completely available at: 28th-30th between 15:00 and 01:00 ???
I congratulate anyone who wants to commit 3 days in what is for me an absurd time frame. I would have to be available for 3 days on a row till 2am in the morning. Depending on the draws I assume this to be a lot less, but the chance to have a bad draw and to play till 2am isnĘt worth signing up and then not showing up at a match.
The game is nice, but such commitment is going to far for me and frankly I hope the people who are participating are able to find time to take rest between matches. I also hope the people running this event consider that they shouldnĘt ask to much out of participants.
I wish the people that participate in the event the best of luck.

I was sent an invitation even though I'm not in an alliance from Eris Discrodia. I hope I can pass off Warmongers as an alliance due to our sheer leetness. App sent.

Are you seriously saying that prizes for this should be cheap because you're unhappy with the prizes you got ? I think maybe you should think about that for a while, if they gave out too cheap prizes, shouldn't they fix that for future events and give out better ones so the people who participate (and spend billions on implants and faction ships) are happy ?
Would be a great world if everyone thought "Hmm I got shafted, so I'm going to try to make sure everyone else gets shafted too, that way it's fair for me".
This event is targeted at the biggest alliances in EVE, it should have prizes that take into account the resources an Empire can bring to bear to make sure its team wins.

Edited by: Crellion on 27/12/2005 10:38:49 To all whinners:
Alliances with 600-1000 members can only send 3 but still you think because you have a rat corp thats like teh uber at ganking haulers / barges with Tristans all 3 of you should have the right to participate???
Like a country is no good, every neighbourhood should send reps to the Olympic games
I see why MC should be allowed in and all sizeable and respected pvp outfits but to say every man and his dog...
As for those uber 2003 loners (mainly declaring on 2005 mining corps and camping hub system entrances in snipping tempests and Megas) well perhaps being shut out is fit punishment for being no good worthless griefers in your eve gameplay.

id assume its cheapest cost of ships entered at the start that wins not ships left at the end
or more id hope that is the case

I suspect rules lawyering is pointless since the people doing the event are flexible...
I mean they're not going to rule in favor of one team over a technicality like that when it's obvious which team won the match.. |

the fact that u did not let all the alliances compete... only shows that u are all incapable of hosting an event for the players that pay money for this game! Therefore ur payed for nothing ur alll a bunch of winers and are not capable to host an event.. i would hsut up if i where u ! RO ALLIANCE has the best 3 man team in the game!!! we are better than all those carrebeaRS so spare me with the addictive s**t !! good day... ur gonna hear from me in game dear gm!!!

Is there any particular issue with allowing ships to warp out and simply counting them as "dead"? Or is that rule supposed to increase the risk to participants? Curious, that's all

MWD's will work.
If a pilot warps out, his team mates can still continue fighting. (It will not result in his/her team losing the match)
