Dear Remedial and other bees....
Well all this discussion about can do and only 10 minutes job attitude is fine and understandable. However, not many people worry about the consequences of allowing a lot more people in a corp. I dunno, will the chat channel handle it, will the lag not bee too attrocious if lots of bees log in the same corp HQ system? You see, having so many bees may involve some issues with the games behaviour that have not been tested on large volume of user or also game balance issue like bees zerging power being increased...
Don't get me wrong, i am sure be happy for u to have more people in your corp but it should be a carefully thought process not just let release the skill bit. There are issues of game stability and balance there too.
What I am curious about is an official eve post about the reason for such limitation. ---------
Sadly I just make ISK, I don't print it. :(

I personally suspect that the only real reason this skill hasn't been seeded yet is becuase there hasn't been a case where it's really been needed.
Until now that is.

Poor sad little bee
(I've had a totally crappy day and his plight touched me deeply)
This definitely needs releasing.
But OMG that poor little bee who got ganked while his buddies were forced to watch unable to help
/me signs this, then shuffles off over there, humming an ancient Earth tune to himself... Half a bee, philosophically, must eo ipso facto half not be But half a bee has got to be, vis a vis its entity - D'you see?
But can a bee be said to be Or not to be an entire bee, When half the bee is not a bee Due to some ancient injury

It doesn't really do anyone any good to speculate about whether allowing more than 1300 members into a corp will cause problems or not. No one here, except the devs, really know what the ramifications would be.
The Goons at least deserve an answer so they can decide what their next move will be. If there is a good reason to not release it, I'm sure Remedial and all the Goons would accept that decision.

I believe some people here are operating under the pretense that GoonFleet is so big because we accept any newbie that wants to join. This is not the case at all. The criteria for joining GoonFleet are actually quite strict. GoonFleet is made up of people who are members of a community that has nothing to do with Eve, and friends of members of that community who can be sponsored in. The chance of any average Eve player getting into GoonFleet is slim to none. Incidentally, this is why GoonFleet runs a very low risk of any sort of corporate theft, we were all 'friends' of a sort before we started playing Eve, and I think I speak for almost all of Goons when I say that I would not play Eve if I were not a part of GoonFleet.

What he means is most of us continued our accounts because of the comraderie and fun that we encounter when we first join the game instead of taking the "mine veldspar in empire for a year" route. If the first thing I had to encounter was sitting in empire safely mining rocks for months before I got to do the fun stuff there is no way I would have ever considered a subscription. It's definately not a bash against the game, it's just that we got to the "fun" part first and we liked it and the thing that got us to the "fun" part right off the bat was goonfleet.

That's kinda(read: Entirely) True. It's a whole bunch of people who're bound together by the ability to pay ten dollars and not get banned from a forum, and that creates more camraderie than most fraternities can even dream about. I, personally, can't stand empire space and the incredibly small scale of politics up there is just so underwhelming after living out on the frontier, and I'd probably hate any corp that let me in just because I asked. Goonfleet is 90% of the reason I play EVE (the other ten percent involves blowing up swaffer's capital ships)

That's fair enough, but I'm fairly sure other corps have similar policies. (They might not have a small monetary component, however)
Honestly I'd enjoy the game no matter what I do. I suppose I'm easily entertained.

I'm a goon not in goonfleet but I think the skill should be released. There's that theory destroyed (like the poor -fleet bee)

If there is a technical limitation, i wish a dev would tell us so we can all shut up about this, knowing there is a good reason for the limitation.
The problem is, they dont comment on it. We'll see after the weekend i guess...

The point is that we have the numbers already. Being able to have 1301+ people in a corp won't magically create more people that will be coming out to fight. It will still be the same people who are currently in GF and GW, except they'd be flying under the single banner of Goonfleet. Releasing Sovereignty won't affect our playstyle that much, it will just make things easier for wardecs / hangar access etc.
Likewise on the chat channel reason, there will be no more than we already have in our shared GF/GW channels now. And I'm pretty sure the channels can take a lot of people (Rookie Help, anyone?)
People seems to think that because we have close to 2000 members that they're all on at the same time. They're not. I think we probably have at least one Goon for every timezone, so people are on at different times of the day.

Edited by: Spleef on 07/05/2006 09:24:34 Firstly, amazing flash film :)
I admit i only read the first page, and agree there shold be no imposed limit on corp size, but have an idea, even if just for a laugh (and cba to check every post to see if idea already mentioned)
Now that you are immortalized as cute bees, and i assume your tactics are of swarming little bees... why not set up an alliance with multiple bee corps?
Eg:
New bees (lol) Worker bees (logistics) Militarbee (...) Queen bees (top level command, delegating to other bees) Honey bees (finance)
It must be a nightmare, with 2000 bees of varying needs, please all you goons, structure your bees!

Cute Idea, but that would be, for lack of a better term, a logisitcal terrorcannon. Hypothetical: I am a militarbee, and I need a new t1 frigate, because someone blew up the three hundred I had in reserve. I would have to get in contact with a queen bee, who would be responsible for getting the money from the honey bees to the worker bees, who would then need to get my twelve-hundred new frigate back to me. That's four corps to get a frigate.
If this was in jest, I'm sorry, it's 4:30 AM and all of my sarcasm/witticism detectors went offline about 2 AM
