Would it be possible to get the patch as standalone download now, so we can offload the server startup by preinstalling the patch?

Will the client patch be released for http downloading, or will we all be hammering the auto-update for a few hours? :)
Oh, and gj on the time estimate. |

Aye. It would be great if we could get a download now. Would also be great if we were allowed to host a torrent of the file to help remove the strain from the hamsters/gerbils/animalofyourchoicemakingtheservergovroom.

Dry runs uncovered a showstopper bug, server is estimated to be up at 18:00.<br>Note that minimal OS for Eve will be Windows 2000 SP2. See news for details.
???
Does this mean no patch today? a rollback?
Thank you for any further information you may provide.

Edited by: Leana Torell on 22/08/2006 17:15:55 I that a server-sided bug or involves this also the patch, wrangler? If no, is there a chance to bring the patch "online" ? this would lower the hammering later when tranq goes online.

May I suggest that CCP includes a link to a torrent file for a standalone client patch/update in the MOTD field, so at least the people that know how to use a .torrent file can take some load away from the update server? Merely tracking a torrent with a couple thousand peers would be a strain, but I would guess it would be less so then uploading tens or hundreds of megabytes to the thousands of players bound to stand ready to update their client at 1800 hours... -VS- |
