A reply to Steel Rat and everyone else who doesn't understand the whole 'lag tactics' issue, and I will say this with as much sincerity and little vitriol as I humanly can.
Not once in the history of EVE Online have the servers supported all out warfare between the two largest forces. Not once. If you disagree, feel free to give me any date since May 5th 2003, I will give you two corp/alliance names that would cause the server to melt.
Improvements have been made, but they have just barely kept up with the steadily increasing growth of the game. The moment 50v50 becomes possible, everyone starts forming gangs of 100. Don't you think Kali will bring better performance as well as new customers?
It may be acceptable for you to wait, but we won't. Did you read the latest blog? There won't be any changes to POS warfare in Kali 1 whatsoever. That means waiting what.. another year until the next installment of Kali? The first one took two years alone.
This alliance was built for one purpose only: War.
The moment we put our weapons down, we become like everyone else. That is unacceptable. Like it or hate it, but we're doing you and EVE a huge favour by not making any further concessions. Enough is ENOUGH. At some point I'd like to stop throwing my fifteen bucks at CCP with the words "I hope". They will work hard to make it playable, or risk losing customers. Simple.

Yes, every person on the face of this planet can predict there will be lag. There is lag with every fight. There are nodes being crashed even with NO fight. If the node goes down because you were fighting for your home, so be it. I wouldn't expect any less in fact. BoB leaders chose ASCN because they knew you would at least attempt a fight while other alliances simply use it as justification for their defeat.
The difference is, and this is crucial.. your leader has managed to go against everything ASCN and BoB (supposedly) stand for by disrespecting the game with deliberate attacks on the server's stability. This is NOT THE SAME as warping a fleet into our fleet and trying to have a fight or trying to defend your home. This is him suggesting they sit at POS doing nothing but dropping a bunch of crap. Drones and cans deployed from within a force field have zero combat relevance. Its not a part of any strategy of warfare that has ever existed in this game.
Since CYVOK made that blog, there has been numerous individual interpretations of what he "actually meant". Nothing but damage control, and if you believe our reading comprehension is that low you've managed to disrespect the enemy far more than him. Regarding us.. some people in BoB are laughing at this. Why not? CYVOK just contradicted two years worth of "honor" preaching. Others are genuinely dissapointed, because they believed the image/reputation of ASCN as an alliance that doesn't do these things. Most are shaking their heads.
The truth is I don't see ASCN doing these suggested "tactics" on a massive scale. But we both know that out of 5000 people it will be done simply because he okayed it. So we are condemning your leader for sending such a wholeheartedly stupid message.. not because there will be lag, or you will be causing it.. but because he is arrogant enough to think it will help him protect his empire.
CYVOK is a visionary, no doubt about it. He's been forming this 0.0 empire of his for a long time now,. He knew one day someone would come to challenge it. He took extra care to ensure the right attitudes were formed for his members.
Then at the eve of this Great Southern War, he forgets to keep his own fears in check and fumbles. Does he deserve leeway? Sure, given the amount he's done for ASCN. But jesus christ if he says stuff like that ever again.. impeach.

I have very little doubt ASCN will retain all our space and all our stations once this is all over, if that is the case when hostilities end, I will claim Victory for ASCN. If we also hold stations in Bob space I will claim a resounding victory :)
What will it take for Bob to claim victory ?
I am just asking so we dont have to have another 30+ page thread discussing it afterwards :)

LOL. I've just spent the better part of 30minutes reading this thread from about page 10 to now. I've never actually seen so much kiddie smack (from both sides).
To those of you who are suggesting that we intend to crash nodes yada yada, we're not. It might not have been put across well, it may have sounded bad the way it was phrased "sending out 300 fighters should crash the node". That sounds out of order right? However, the phrase "Sending out 300 fighters WILL crash the node". That sounds fine to me. I think every person who read this as a friendly automatically changed the "should" to "will" in their heads without even thinking about it, thinking "Hey its probs gonna happen whether we like it or not", whereas our enemies read it as "should" and immediately got on the ole high horse shouting "ZOMG THEY IS GONNA CRASH TEH N0DE HAXXORZZZZ!!!!!1111". I'll also point out that CYVOK's grammar is bad. BAD. So if something has been interpretted one way by us and another way by you then we apologise, it was not meant like that. I personally want as much enjoyment as I can get out of this, hopefully CCP can enforce a few nodes coupled with some spread out warfare and we can have some fun. However, if lag becomes that big an issue that nodes crash, then unless you see us flying intys with shuttles containing BM's, then its most likely that its the current state of the server. But dont forget. You're attacking us at a time when the server state is dodgy at best, so dont blame us for wanting to defend our territory with any ship we can get in the sky.
I'll finish by saying that this is just my personal opinion and take on what i've read up to this point. Please dont flame me

Instead of trying to help alleviate the servers problems, Cyvok's reply in these forums and his blog demonstrate quite clearly that if things aren't going his way the servers are gonna die...

I'd follow CYVOK even if he *cough* joined Burn Eden, went to Jita to smartbomb noobs or even joined BOB!
As for this "tactic", mentioned a month ago in relation to a different opponent who has used login exploits, bookmark exploits and other unsavory methods, I can only see it be used if we are down to 1 station (out of 20 or so? I can't keep track) and we are all in noob ships.

Me too. First kid on the way. tbh i dont even know how much i will get to play Eve once he/she is born which is why I'm looking forward to this so much. Its a chance to fight in one of the greatest battles that have/may ever happen. But the trolls, whiners and general ****ers are spoiling it for me. :'(

The Great Southern War begins soon....
I've watched the BoB video's, heard about your skills, and yet I've never known a single member of your alliance. Regardless, I've developed a huge amount of respect for BoB and the reputation it's achieved as the best PvP alliance in EVE.
It was watching one of your video's that got my into PvP.
Win or Lose, fighting in combat is the only true way to learn. So, fighting against BoB in combat will be one of the best combat learning experiences I will ever get in EVE. I can't wait to meet you in space.
But since I have my faith in ASCN & AXE. I believe that the sleeping giant will finally awaken.
