Originally by: eleuthereus Dear BoB,
When I first started this game back in 2005, not too long ago, I heard many great things about your alliance. I had hoped to one day join you. Even after I became a member of ASCN, I thought very highly of you, which is why it was my pleasure to join with you against our common enemies in EC. It was a great operation.
But I must confess, I do not know what has happened to you. What misguided counselors have been tickling the ears of yourleaders with unwise words? Or, perhaps, it is actually your leaders themselves who have gotten arrogant, prideful, boastful, full of resentment, and consumed by petty jealousy. As the old saying goes, a fish rots from the head down. And sadly, you seem to have gotten quite rotten rather quickly over the last few months. Then, again, maybe you were always rotten as you now finally appear for all to see.
And your ludicrous posts here only prove that too many Bobbits resemble, for lack of a better expression, jerks. My perosnal opinion -- I do not speak for ASCN. The posts are ricidiculous, primarily because seems that very few BoB propagandists here can actually read a comment by CYVOK and understand it. You all remind me somewhat of religious cultists, who only see and hear what they want to see and hear in order to justify/excuse their actions, which in reality have no legitimate excuses or justifications.
So, you want war war war? Fine. very well. Good. You've shown to Eve your true colors - you are aggressors one and all in every sense of the word, willing to attack without provocation or cause, except perhaps as a chance for you to stroke yourselves (take that any way you wish to).
I pity you and your alliance. Not because you may lose, not because you may win. But because of the kind of players you have shown yourselves to be. I would hope that all Eve watches and learns from you -- learns how not to play, how not to act; and how not to treat other alliances.
I LONG to meet you on the field of battle. You may not realize it yet, but those blood stains on your "BAND OF BROTHERS" offical announcement belong to you -- and more will follow. You will never be the same after it is all over. Never. But you will be able to rest in the knowledge that it was your choice to do it to yourselves.
Good luck. No hard feelings. And, oh, make sure you have your clones up-to-date.
Long Live ASCN, eleuthereus

Whilst what you are saying is fine, that does not square up to what your beloved leader posted on this very thread..

Maybe Cyvok is plain out of touch with the membership of the alliance he is leading?... because it does very much sound like the majority of ASCN posters in this thread would not condone any tactics that would purposefully impair the performance of the EVE servers.
.. and those that would call me a troll, spare me I've heard it all before..

I'm left feeling... underwhelmed.
BoB are a good PvP alliance of experience players.
However, it has been proved time and time again that when they go up against other experienced PvPers (Some of the G alliance corps, Outbreak, Celestial Apocalypse etc) their kill stats suddenly start looking distinctly average.
Now, assuming ASCN are the targets (has this been confirmed?) it will be interesting, as BoB have fewer numbers although ASCN are quite industrially focused for the most part. BoB are more cohesive, with fewer corps and many pure PvPers. ASCN are a hybrid alliance with a lot of younger players.
The outcome will likely be a stalemate if anything.
BoB are good at massaging their egos on the forums, but they only really have impressive kill/loss stats against softer targets (the recent Goon and Huzzah campaigns come to mind). They had to abandon their old GIRON roadtrip up North with some very average kill/loss ratios, and recent fighting with TOXIN proved once again they are far from invincible.
Have fun all. Enjoy the lag.

So you're saying CYVOK actually DID allow those tactics to be used conditionally? And if that alliance attacked, the tactics would have been used.
You're justifying his words by saying that allowing it against only 1 alliance is somehow acceptable, while allowing it in general is not? That's ridiculous and the mention of it already ruined his reputation as this honest leader. The end result would still be a crashed node, regardless of the people involved.

Not at all. I believe his intimation was if said alliance used said tactics against us, that until GMs expressly stated what said alliance had done was an exploit we were ok to use them...in that situation only.

aah.. comeon.. you ASCN guys really know how to really keep digging holes for yourselves... did you even read what you just wrote?
For starters it barely makes sense and secondly in a roundabout way you are just confirming what any person with basic reading skills garnered from Cyvok's blog... and that is that if attacked en-force by -AAA-/Reds, node crashing on purpose *was* authorised.
Cyvok's post on *this* thread, further confirmed that this is a possiblity with BoB also, because if ASCN leadership feels it is getting shafted by server performance, they *will* again authorise node crashing.
The only way ASCN can make this go away is by issuing an official statement that such tactics are not being considered *at all*, whatever the circumstances.
.. yeah the server performance atm is unsatisfactory, yes there are problems with Tranquility, but that should NEVER mean you can take things into your own hands and use your considerable manpower to make things worse on purpose.
If EVE is about winning by crashing the server, then there is little no point in playing at all.

Together we have spent countless hours mining, researching, hauling and defending our stars from those whom would take what we have built.
In each station in our space is a little piece of me, from all the hours of mining I did to get the ore together for the dozen outposts we have laid down.
In each POS is a little piece of me, from all the untold hours I spent Ice mining with the crews to stock up on resources.
Every jumpgate resonates with a little piece of me, from all the times I ferried goods to remote stations so there would be enough stock for my alliance mates so they wouldn't have to go so far to equip their ships.
Ascendant Frontier means everything to me. You're not going to diminish my pride in what we've accomplished with snappy forum posts.
You're not going to diminish my resolve to fight all of you to stop you from robbing everything we have built.
When I run out of Isk, I'll borrow.
When I run out of ships, I'll beg.
When I run out of heart, I'll remember.
This is our land.
Built with our blood, sweat and tears.
The other alliances you've fought claimed sovereignty.
This is our home.
There's a big difference.
Respect.

Those of us not being directly affected by this war wonders: How can we exploit it?
I hope BoB and ASCN leaders are both well versed in the Art of War. Here are a few quotes that I feel are of relevance:
"Thus the highest form of generalship is to balk the enemy's plans; the next best is to prevent the junction of the enemy's forces; the next in order is to attack the enemy's army in the field; and the worst policy of all is to besiege walled cities."
"Hence a wise general makes a point of foraging on the enemy. One cartload of the enemy's provisions is equivalent to twenty of one's own, and likewise a single picul of his provender is equivalent to twenty from one's own store."
"For should the enemy strengthen his van, he will weaken his rear; should he strengthen his rear, he will weaken his van; should he strengthen his left, he will weaken his right; should he strengthen his right, he will weaken his left. If he sends reinforcements everywhere, he will everywhere be weak.
Numerical weakness comes from having to prepare against possible attacks; numerical strength, from compelling our adversary to make these preparations against us."
"Maneuvering with an army is advantageous; with an undisciplined multitude, most dangerous."
-------------------------------------------------------------
IMO - BoB is theoretically at the disadvantage for this war. Not only do they have to worry about defending their own territory, but they must also lay siege to ASCN. This means that BoB will potentially be weakened in their home, making it a tasty treat for pirates and shady alliances. If a couple alliances in the north decide to attack BoB in it's (theoretically) weakened state, BoB may end up fighting 2 wars on opposite ends of the galaxy. This would be a SEVERE disadvantage, as it takes time to ferry ships and supplies from one place to another. BoB would have to constantly shift troops from one battlefield to the other.
However, this could be prevented if BoB maintains a strong presence in their regions - at least giving the impression of a tough nut to ***** will scare away the vultures, so to speak.
The problem for ASCN will be reacting to BoB's sieges quickly enough. The moment BoB enters a system in force, ASCN needs to be ready to defend within mere minutes. The longer the POS is unguarded, the faster it will go POP. ASCN needs to also understand that they will lose systems. The key is, how to turn the loss of a system, into the victory of the war.

Thinking about this more and more, it will be interesting to see what happens. Both ASCN and BoB are deeply rooted in their home regions via POS and outposts. It will be great if it isn't a complete POS stalemate a month from now. However I think it will be - to an extent that the problem becomes more apparent to CCP. Maybe thats a good thing.
