When ANY of those serving machines detect a image timestamp older than 1 month upon image request, they automatically submit a "generation request" to the other machine. ...and so many more solutions that DO NOT involve "mass-dumb-rendering" approaches. Yes because when those characters come back they don't deserve to have their pictures waiting for them. Let it go. Your stupid picture will be up in a few days. Get over it.

I'm guessing hardware is just being torn out and replaced wholesale. And from Redundancy's blog it sounds like half the art-programming department is imperiled by this problem at this point.

Please, there have been people complaining about changing their picture in November 2005 and it still isn't updated.
