I was guessing the same thing, So all the Pictures will be generated and the moved over to the forum.
I get the feeling that rendering and moving at the same time would slow the whole process down alot. (for an example try coping 2 files on the same drive to different drive and you will see it will slow down alot.)

Originally by: t20 This matter is getting quite embarrassing, especially since it's just such a public one.
Here's the rundown:
We decided it would be better to start off on a clean plate and render out all the character portraits of people that are active and people that have ever posted on the forums. We also decided it would be a good idea not to run the replication at the same time as the rendering process to keep the I/O of the disks free for only the rendering of portraits.
My initial calculations were off, by quite a bit, unforeseen factors again. right now we've got 272133 portraits rendered; means we've only rendered out ~21000 portraits a day on average so far. This average will however go up, as I've fixed one of those 'unforeseen factors'.
So know that the rendering process is actually up and running and half-way there and know also that I'm not bbq'd, omgwtfpwnd or being harrpwn'd.
That is all. Carry on.
Does this include us who had their char portraits swapped?

Anywho..keep up the good work devs, I think Kali 2 deserves more attention than these forum beauty pageants.

We're rendering all pictures before copying them over to the actual machine that serve the forum portraits. This will most likely be done during a downtime, as we'll replace the old portrait content with the new content (removing redundant portraits from characters that aren't active anymore ... got to save disk space, right?).
so basically, the process is : - rendering all portraits - downtime and magic 'copying of image data' - restart rendering with automated replication resulting in updated forumportraits 'almost instantaneously'Ö - chains removed, beard shaved, respect regained and humiliation period over (and finally a decent meal).

you look like the cat sort of cuteness *gives stroking and saucer of milk* so how about a timescale on item database update.... :-)

So what is the *timescale* we are looking at?
We understand what you have to do - how long will it take you to do it? A day? A Week? 2 weeks? a Month?
Can you give us a rough estimate of when we will see our portraits? Kali 2? --
Yeah, so Caldari suck at close range. Pity you'll never get there.
