One thing ill always remember is the week long lockdown of OE at the end. A lot of us never even left the system the whole week and were bored for hours on end.
If it were not for nubian's FCing running little contests and stuff i dont think people would of lasted as long as they did.
Great Job Everyone!

Hot battle report and the best thing for me was. Seleene (i think could of been another mom) warping ontop of a gate camp we had been trying to bust in OE- unleashing 20 fighters and watch as he solo'ed it all.

Edited by: Shiraz Merlot on 18/06/2007 01:19:05 It's a great write-up. It's also crashingly biased, glossing neatly over many (not all) negative details and puffing up the MC like a good brochure should. Which is fine of course, especially given ultimately the magnitude of their achievement, but those of us who were there (in Tenal's case, my dears, *are* there, whatever this glossy says) know better. Alas that none of us are as elegant writers, or as motivated to write, as Seleene is.
I am going to name my son Victor, because I want him to be a historian.

I think the real question in my mind is, if motherships weren't so inherantly broken with the current game mechanics, would MC have done so well?
If they were actually capable of losing their motherships, they might not of had the complete ability to *****the north's battleship heavy fleeets.

Seems healthy enough to me, thousands of pilots discharging munitions in the general direction of one another, boosting the economy, shifting power blocks, keeping the forum software working. Good times. But then again I HAVE been ingesting fistfuls of exile booster most of the afternoon...
And of course the obligatory self-promotion: the war as the support fleets saw it: The 7 Gun War

D2 had many more Mom's then us, 14 I think? Plus 2 Titans.
Mom's are a terror weapon. Most of the time we would have maybe 1-2 Mom's in a fight (if even that) but always had multiple Carriers. Moms are quite easy to take down with a well executed plan as shown by RA, ISS/LV and us. I know a few times we almost lost a Mom in this Campaign.
Mom's did not win this war . . . Terror in our Enemies, our willpower to fight on and the anger in our eyes and allies who were beat on for 2 months before hand won this war IMO.

Edited by: Phrixus Zephyr on 18/06/2007 01:59:42 Slight nit pick on the details concerning us.
Quote: For the past couple weeks, Terror in the System and Triumvirate had been attempting to invade and take over OE-4HB. On at least one occasion, Alliance Motherships had jumped in to lend assistance but there was no formal relationship in place. As we continued to conquer Branch, TITS and TRI found themselves the focal point of the entire Northern resistance.
As TRI decided to pull out of the area, talks were opened with TITS
TRI was never at any point invading Tenal, we were there on a few major fleet nights and stayed in the vacinity to back up our then allies. Couple of weeks is a gross exaggeration. It was perhaps a couple of weeks by the time TITS had allied with the alliance formerly by which time TRI hadn't been in the area for a week plus.
TRI didn't pull out because we were never really there.
Edit: Content.

While I hate getting into tit-for-tat arguments here, I would have to point out that the north had no shortage of motherships.
Solely from my perspective, I think this war has cemented the status of capital ships in EvE. Carriers & Moms were long known to be the workhorse on which any large force was carried, but now they can be seen as the mighty cavalry and leading edge of any assault, capable of tipping scales when conventional forces are outnumbered. I am not saying in grid carrier fighting was pioneered here, but it lent itself to a scale never before seen.
And if Carriers are the cavalry and the workhorse, then the Dreads are artillery that makes or breaks soveriegnty. More than ever have I become convinced that its not the amount of towers you anchor, but how many dreads you deploy and how you will use them.
Some say that conventional ships are becoming less relevant. I believe nothing can be further from the truth. Without them carrier's targets would escape and dreads would be reduced to rubble. Cudos to Seleene and MC leadership for making it all work together in a great symphony we will not soon forget. ----
