Could not have been summed up better. This mom pilot lost his ship because he did the same thing, every day, for over a week. We had time to plan, position forces, and spring a trap that was clearly successfull. Lag/Desynch aside, the entire purpose of last night was to kill that mothership, it is not like it was a chance situation.

Originally by: Mozana anyone killed a MS which actually fought back? the bob ms loss also just showed a ms with fighters not attacking, ship not repping or trying to re-align after beeing bumbped.
whats up with this?
The mothership actually had a few kills from the engagement, and also was operating smartbombs and such. He was also actively tanking our initial volies until all the capitals got into position. We just broght too much firepower for his ship to handle, and he was a very predictable pilot who would always chace a piece of cheese, this time the cheese was on a string and he fell for our trap.
The desynchs were a pain, but after a relog on both accounts i was running it cleared up to a degree. I saw his shield disapear and then his armor vanish... and finally his structure vaporize. Was a 'fun' fight. Woulda been a lot better if it wernt for the desynchs.
By the way, everyone keeps saying its a state of the servers that causes desynchs, its actually the client itself that is desynching. The server, in this case, is doing fine.

yeah there is, and it seems more and more of them lately. I've experienced one myself with less then 200 in local. Its a pretty ****ty feeling not being able to do anything and you can only sit there and listen to your gang mates on vent saying they're getting shot and they cant even see who, what, is shooting them.
But from the sounds of it that MoM was a dead duck. Grats and nice kill even if under less then ideal conditions. ------------------------------------------- Originally by: CCP Arkanon I think this thread also illustrates perfectly that we neither censor nor do we try to silence our customers. |

Let's just put this in bullet form to save on space and hopefully clear up some of the factless statements coming from some in this thread:
1) I was in a gang doing local defense(not soloing) as one might expect any alliance member in any alliance that wishes to at least try and defend their space at any hour of the day.
2) I was unable to launch any drones at all. This was before and after local ballooned in count.
3) I never saw a single hostile fighter or drone on my display during the entire encounter.
4) I noted extremely poor tactics on the part of the hostile dictor force. They were orbitting about at 15km in a very nonchalant fashion. Had I been able to deploy drones, 1/2 to 3/4th of them would have been dead within 90 seconds to 2 minutes. TBH, BE have a much better command of their dictor tactics than what I saw from the hostiles last night.
5) I've survived three to four desynchs before. Never had I ever been without the ability to deploy drones and defend myself. Something else was going on with the node\TQ last night.
6) What saved snigg et al was their willingness to log out in combat and log back in to save their objective from failing. I never log in combat. I guess that's one difference between attackers and myself. Perhaps CCP can send some signals whether premeditated logging in and out from combat is acceptable or not. I think it shows weak character but I'm old and very old fashioned in that way :)

Any snigg pilot that logs in combat to save his ship gets booted from the corp.
There's a big difference between logging to save your ship, and relogging because you are desynced. There's also a difference between being old fashioned and being stupid.

1) I was in a gang doing local defense(not soloing) as one might expect any alliance member in any alliance that wishes to at least try and defend their space at any hour of the day. Just minutes before you were in another system actively ganking people. Going back and forth between gates. You continued doing this in LXW between warping to POS and cloaking.
2) I was unable to launch any drones at all. This was before and after local ballooned in count. Your drones were out, you got on killmail on a battleship kill. Several PL pilots report your drones attacking them. But you also ran your smartbombs which pretty much might've killed your own drones. At least they were damaging my fighters.
3) I never saw a single hostile fighter or drone on my display during the entire encounter. Then maybe you should've relogged.
If you were desynced how could you see enemy movement and "random patterns"? Usually when you desync any hostile ship keeps moving off in the direction you last spotted them going.
5) I've survived three to four desynchs before. Never had I ever been without the ability to deploy drones and defend myself. Something else was going on with the node\TQ last night. I was able to deploy drones just fine and spotted yours aswell. If you were desynced you should've done a quick relog to try and fix the problem.
6) What saved snigg et al was their willingness to log out in combat and log back in to save their objective from failing. I never log in combat. I guess that's one difference between attackers and myself. Perhaps CCP can send some signals whether premeditated logging in and out from combat is acceptable or not. I think it shows weak character but I'm old and very old fashioned in that way :) So you're saying that "logging" is the same as "relogging" and that is "weak"? The tools were there to save your ship if you had been desynced. Relogging is the defacto technique to clear desync issues. You were in a big ship and you should have had plenty of time to relog. If you were desynced and didn't relog then you can only blame yourself for not giving you that chance.
Some things doesnt match up to whatyou've said in previous bullets. You saw the dictors moving about. But not drones or fighters, how was your overview setup? Was PL red to you and you simply mistook fleet support for the drones? We had a massive amount of support and at times in that large encounter myself wasn't too sure what was green-drones and friendlies.

I'm no fan of Shamis or Pandemic Legion, but logging out of a desynced client is hardly the same as logging in combat to save a ship.
They were logging so they could get back to the fight, not avoid it, like you're kind of implying.
Anyways, nice trap and good kill.
