Originally by: CCP Chronotis We would never remove something that is ingame like that, would be silly indeed and not very fair on you. The fix requires programming time which means it is unlikely to be fixed in kali 2.2 (our next content patch) sadly, however Greyscale is dealing with it and will keep you apprised and when and how the implants will be fixed.
When and how will they be fixed? Update plz

Although some of the other implants that were added at the same time have been fixed (specifically, the warp speed increasing HY series), these ones have not been fixed according to the current patch notes. My research services Spreadsheets: Top speed calculation - Halo Implant stats |

As you can probably tell from the patchnotes, we didn't get the fix we wanted for these implants in for this patch. They will be fixed (to do something useful) in a future patch - I'm sorry that this situation has occurred at all, please show just a little more patience while we deal with it.

Thanks, as long as they don't end up as collectors items I'm happy.

An update:
As of the latest patch today the Draftsman Invention implants have been removed from the LP store a quarter of a year after they were introduced.
These implants are still not listed as non-functional on the known issues page.

In the end will there be one invention implant for each faction, or will it settle for just one to cover invention as a whole? Wouldnt it be better to use the encryption method skills as governing factor over how usefull these implants would be?
Not very handy to have to use 4 different characters for invention to cover all factions.

At least we won't have snake oil salesmen on the Sell Forums trying to talk as if these are worth buying.
While we're talking about non-working implants - what's the status on the Beancounter G60s?

I have the GI-2 Installed. I've heard they were pulled from the market because they were giving clones cancer. Is there any truth to this ? Am I gonna get cancer ?
Seriously, though... Is CCP ever going to share any information about invention ? I can look at the market & skills to find out how much ore I can mine using different ships, lasers & modules, a PVPer can tell about how much damage his turrets will do... I can't tell if I'm even going to succeed, much less what my prize will be.
End the silence, make at least a little info public. We never even knew what these implants were supposed to do in the first place.
Do it right the first time, and we won't have these discussions anymore, CCP !

Can we have an update on the situation pls ccp.
Also can you outline to us the issues regarding the implant, is it just a technical issue or an issue of game balance?
As the above post says invention is just a black box at the moment, time to shine the torch on it.

It is interesting to see that on the patch notes page it now shows the Draftsman GI implants under "exploits".
So who exactly is/was exploiting these implants? In my opinion it is CCP, because they knew full well back in June the GIs didn't work, but placed them for sale in the LP store anyway. Their failure to list these on the known issues page is dubious at the very least. I know we are allowed and even encouraged to scam each other within the game but I would not expect to be scammed by CCP.
So CCP, can I expect a full refund (with interest) if I file an exploit petition?

will they get refunded after they implant was removed from lpoint store?
Or should we have patience ?
If u wanna add invention implants for each faction a diffrent, will they be in diffrent slots?

On the other hand, I really hope CCP won't reveal any single information about how invention works... This is why it is invention!!!
Regarding implants: i give you a piece of ****, and I say this is the win button and you will earn millions of isk with it, will you plug it into your head?!

Ok, don't tell me the chances and let me invent something new, as Etho's modified Large Smartbombs that have 15 km of radius.
Give me a break. All this feature has of invention is the name. Publish the damn chances and get done with it. And in the way take time to fix your bugged random algorithm.

There is another patch tomorrow and again no mention of fixing the Draftsman GI Hardwirings..
Can we please get some kind of update on how long it is going to take to fix our implants, and what "something useful" means exactly? I am getting the very strong feeling CCP intends to try to pass off giving us a cookie or something equally as infuriating and call that "useful".

In the database, yeah. But on the server, on the GI's were ever released.
And since so many of us spent money on GI, and now have them plugged in, if they come back later and make them racial, a lot of us are going to be quite ****ed. I do not want or need Gallente Invention implants. When I bought the damned thing, on the assumption it worked, since it had just been added, and surely no one would release an item into the game that people were going to spend isk on without ensuring that it worked, the assumption was also that it was just generally for all invention, since the others, the MI, AI, and CI versions, weren't in the live game, and hadn't been discovered in the database dump yet.
The fix that comes needs to very much NOT be racial, or needs to allow those of us who already have them, to rechoose which race we want.

CCP Greyscale,
Are these implants ever going to be fixed or should we just file a reimbursement petition?
If we do file a petition are the GM's going to act like they don't know anything about this problem again?

I have a GL-2 plugged in too - have read the forums all I really want to know is, is it doing my invention chances any HARM? I've read so much that I don't know what to believe. If it's a case of it does nothing but will do in some future patch, that's cool with me. But if it's b0rked and is actually reducing chances (as I've read in here somewhere) then I ought to rip it out because I'm failing a ridiculous amount of invention with perfect skills (racial starship V, racial encryption V, mech eng V), but that's for another thread ;)
So... all I care about is my invention chance of success... what to do?
cheers

Ky's request is quite valid.
Not only do the draftsman implants not work, but we have no assurances that they're not somehow borking our odds rather than buffing 'em.
Now I know I've got my tinfoil-hat on, but this is just another kick to inventors' collective arse. 160m? Anyone remember the 3-450m isk price tags on gi-2s? Sadly, I do. Cybernetics 5? Wasted skill training on top of poor QA and worse follow-up debugging.
I believe CCP will be content when invention becomes completely unprofitable for all but the real alliance based economies of scale. The cheaper t2 ships are, the happier the majority of the player base. Inventors be hanged. CCP's made it clear that we're a market corrective above all and reiterated that point by failing over three patches to fix a freaking implant involving no more complex maths than just putting parentheses around the whole invention formula and multiplying by 1.03, 1.05, whathaveyou.
Blech.

If it was that straightforward it would be fixed already.
No, they are definitely NOT adversely affecting your invention chances, and I say that with 100% certainty. As to the actual fix, it's still not decided exactly what form it will take but it's very likely that it will NOT increase your success probability. The formulas have been very carefully balanced and we're not going to mess with them via hardwirings. The description of the implant is "A neural interface upgrade that boost the pilot's skill at invention.", and it will most likely be boosting some invention-related "skill" (in the loose sense, not the skillbook sense) other than invention probability.

Thanks for the response..
So does that mean that if I already have maxxed-out my invention skill(s) (5/5/5) that this very expensive implant that I bought in good faith won't do anything?
How can you claim in a much earlier post that a a fix will be forthcoming when you (CCP) haven't even decided what that is going to be yet after so many months?
As my corp-mate mentioned, should I just open a reimbursement petition? I'd personally rather not wait another 1/2 a year having my isk tied up in a very expensive non-functional "something" you guys cannot seem to get together on.
This is not meant to sound like a rant, but I paid a lot for this broken thing and would like to have my isk back please so I can use it on something else that works, is available now, that has a clearly defined purpose.

No, it explicitly doesn't.
These skills influence success chance and he said this is the one thing it won't mess with. Think a bit and I think you'll find a lot of things about invention that can't be changed right now. -- [17:47] <Mephysto> its dead, jim |
