A number of runs bonus might be decent, but, again, I understand, if you haven't got script access to the right variables or functions, then, there you go.
A PE bonus can mean up to 50% production time reduction for ammunitions (and I think for ships too), so it is a good bonus overhall.
On the other hand a invention job time reduction is almost worthless.
I have plenty of extra T2 BPC as I am slower (with maximized skills) building than inventing.

This reminds me of Genesis from the Old Testament. God (CCP)made the entire Universe for Mankind (Player Base). And then when he got around to actually creating Mankind, Adam, Adam was lonely?....And then to fix that, Adam had to give up a rib? "God? Be honest, this is the BETA version isn't it?" |

I'm good with a time bonus if it's in the 15-25% and 30-50% ranges... this 5% crap has got to go with an implant that could have been looked at more effectively.
I'm glad to see something is being done, but we were all hoping for something that actually helped the inventor instead of what you proposed...

I have had this stupid implant in my head 1 week after it was introduced. Solid mission grinding with no benefit.
ME/PE reduction would be much better. BPO holders can research the ME down so invention ME reduction could be a little more competitive, but does not take the BPO advatage away. New content without BPOÆs (marauders, black-ops, jump freighter,à) have huge build costs with no chance for ME/PE reduction. The best you can do is the zero run datafile which will reduce the ME by 3 resulting in negative 1ME. 9 run datafile gives the negative 9ME.
There are only 2 implants GI-1 and GI-2. I suggest: GI-1 --> 1 ME/PE reduction GI-2 --> 2 ME/PE reduction
ME/PE reduction is a solid benefit, while invention time reduction is trivial when POS labs deliver 50% time reduction.
================================================
Actually increaseing the invetion chance (as originaly introduced) would be best.

The problem with success chance is that the bonus would be either not significant in the slightest or too significant and given its low fixed cost overhead would make it a requirement for future invention with the latter. We are also taking into account possible future changes with invention which may one day see us move from a chance based system so we want it to be more future proof as well without being too overpowered or useless.
The original problem (besides these implants being released by mistake before they were ready - our bad) is that everything with invention is hard coded (stuff we game designers cannot touch with dogma attributes and effects authoring). The reason why any fix has been delayed is that it requires programmer time to introduce a new variable to any of the formulas that works with passive implant bonuses but also from our end that it is the right and not overpowered or useless bonus.
I hope that helps explain the situation a little from our end. A fix is in the pipeline for our next static patch hopefully. Apologies for the extremely long wait you have had for a fix.
You do realize that a job time bonus would make this implant completely worthless, donÆt you? Please reconsider and make it a +ME bonus instead.
This. If you're going to patch it anyway, please consider that a time bonus is pretty much useless to anyone but those in freighter production. Please consider the +ME bonus.
CCP - please stop with the nerfing and boost something already. |

I have one of these implants, so am in the same boat as you all...
I have to agree that a boost to invention time would be useless, but i also think that any bonus to ME or PE lvl's would be pointless, as it would make the implant a 'must have' for invention, and would only drop T2 prices accordingly.
If it is going to be ME & PE lvl's i think CCP should release the other implants that where listed in the database but never seeded (e.g AI-2, CI-2 & MI-2) these would all use the same slot, but would only apply to one race of invention, forcing people to at least focus on one race's invention, and hopefully reduce the amount T2 prices would drop.
The only thing i can think of that would be vaguely useful and optional, would be an increase to the meta lvl of any item used in invention. The invention community is split between whether using an item makes any dif anyways, so those who dont use them could petition to have the implant placed back into their hanger and sell it, and the rest could feel like they where gaining some small benefit.

+PE would be good, won't affect the item cost any, so may not be 'must have' but you can build them faster, which is the bottleneck, not the invention itself.

I don't care about the future of invention... I care about what you are doing with it today. Things in EvE are always balanced (insert your own list of balanced/nerfed/whatever here). So instead of a long drawn out reason for this failure by CCP... Release a fix and let it be damned overpowered for a while. At the moment we have suffered with a USELESS list of excuses and reasons for your disasterous failure cascade. We still, today, have no solution... just more "proof" of why you neglect your paying playerbase. And to call the fix "delayed" is a gross understatement.

A long wait with a wasted Jump Clone, wasted ingame time, wasted effort, wasted isk, wasted training time, wasted investment opportunities, etc. Apologies are your rationalization... I want to be repaid for my losses. Please, pull the damned thing from my jump clones head and give me the 1B+ isk I should have made in the time the implant has been stuck there doing nothing. Restoring the wasted LP would also be a good move to prove that you are "apologizing". I don't want empty promises and excuses. I hope this helps explain the situation a LOT from our end.
I'm not angry... I'm sick and tired of excuses and broken promises.

Dear CCP, How about you keep the GI-2s as to what they were sold to us as being and Nerf all the T2 BPOs you handed out? Make them into BPCs with similiar runs to what we are getting w/ invention. As invention stands now, it's little more than a gee-whiz factor and too hard to make isk from.

There is a very noticeable lack of the word "Draftsman" on the patch notes page for the Tuesday, 19 February patch.

Would you care to comment again please on when CCP will finally address this? You do realize that if you just reimbursed everyone involved and deleted these items from the game, it would probably be a heckuva' lot easier, and would be one less thing on the list of broken game features that need your attention.

Invention was introduced as a method to reduce T2 priced (and it work great for that) not as a method to make huge quantity of isk. As long as T2 items were overpriced it was a great isk source, now that every player invent, the problem of people not counting the invention costs in the sale price cut heavily on the profits.
And removing/changing the 2 BPo will change very little, beside removing some items from the game.

On the other hand, isn't this one of those cases where they would fix it first and tell us later, to avoid market manipulation?
Not saying I think they will fix it in this patch... just that whenever they do, it won't be in the patch notes.

Since they have taken it off the market, that's unlikely to be the case.

From Aug 28, 2007:
Originally by: CCP Greyscale As you can probably tell from the patchnotes, we didn't get the fix we wanted for these implants in for this patch. They will be fixed (to do something useful) in a future patch
From Sept 21, 2007:
Originally by: CCP Greyscale As to the actual fix, it's still not decided exactly what form it will take but it's very likely that it will NOT increase your success probability.
From Jan 2, 2008:

Gee... Yet another patch tomorrow and still no Draftsman in the patch notes... That means the next real patch won't come out until sometime near or after the 1-year anniversary of the Draftsman being introduced in its present useless state.
CCP Chronotis, did you actually mean "next year" back on Jan 2nd, and accidentally typed-out "next static patch" instead?
Cmon' CCP, please just reimburse us for this stupid implant already and simply remove it from the game. I could have made a billion isk with the funds I have had tied-up in your little LP store scam.
(If scam is too harsh of a word for anyone here, please substitute the term "exploit" as was done when the Draftsman was stealthfully removed (without explanation) from the LP store by CCP, 3 months after it was introduced.

I think when this implant is fixed All CCP staff should be forced to have one put in their heads.
If it is going to reduce invention time it may help them to reduce the time it takes them to "Invent a fix".
The bonus needs to be more than 50% though I was thinkking in the 80% for one and 90% for the higher lvl one. We may see fix times in the region of 1-2 months them...who knows.

Edited by: Artmedis Valben on 10/05/2008 04:59:39 Make the best one increase the success rate same as 1 level of the relevant encryption skill does.
for sake of argument lets assume each level increase the success rate by 2%, so GI-2 should do exactly that. Maybe GI-1 should do half that, and GI-0 a quarter.
This would be in line with every other line of implants.
Take Manu beancounters for example like 1 level of industry, 1/2 a level and 1/4 level.
Not that 25% sucess rate would be improved to 25,5% success rate in the example above.
Hardly a game breaking increase or a must have for every inventor.
