Hi Just got answer mail from CCP:
Sent - 11/27/2007 8:49:00 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Hi.
I've sent a request to our ops team so they can look into the networks structure and set up to see if there's been some change there that could be the cause of this.
At the moment we can't see anything on our side that could be the cause of this since it would affect all our playerbase instead of a selected few.
I checked our older connections and they all seem to be routed through a company in Austria from what I can see ( IP's 213.46.160.13 and 213.46.165.13 ). It is possible that this service provider is having problems since Polish ISP's that use this provider seem to be having the same problem.

Been a helicopter mechanic since 1968. When we have a new problem on the ship the first thing we do is see what maintenance or upgrades were done recently and look to see if that may of cause the problem. We DON'T start accusing the owner of the airport because they let is in (like a ISP) nor the guys that work in the tower.
CCP what did you code in your last patch that missed us up? The problem is too wide spread to be a end user issue.
Move along nothing to see here, yes I am a ALT Just portecting my main.

READ THIS PART GOOD:

Its only effecting a SELECT FEW, seems that is no priority for ccp then.

So maybe CCP could also contact Chello (UPC) in order to investigate the origin of the DC problems many of us are experiencing?
You as a company have better chance of making them do their work then us simple users.

Yup CCP needs to contact them.
In the meantime, does anybody have a contact email for that isp? We can coordinate a mass email request (not spam, just one from everybody) as one or two will most likely be ignored.
But yes, CCP really needs to get onto this, I cant see even a number of emails from strangers achieving anything.
So can we get a statement that ccp are on the problem and will contact said isp?

I sent mail to CCP yesterday with ping scan scanned for 1 hour , receive mail from CCP today :
Hi,
I suggest you have a word with your ISP regarding the quality of your internet connection. Over the course of an hour, you have an average packetloss of 1,5% which peaks at 100% at one point. I'm afraid this needs to be rectified in order for you to keep a stable connection.

So, contacted to UPC Customer service by phone ,they checked my router ,line, connection to eve server , and told me than there is no problem with UPC (NTL) connection and I should contact CCP , ................... I probably will change my provider to 3G Vodafone , its working ,checked yesterday

NTL has also told me it's not on their end.
The only hope I have left is that CCP will contact either NTL or the Polish ISP that was mentioned and just try and sort this one out. I think one of the issues is how Eve handles "idle" play. For example, leaving aside all the current problems, if you spend too long creating a new character, when you try enter space, the connection will have died.
And tbh, I think changing ISP's just to play one game should not even be an option. If the problem lies with an ISP or some part of the route, it should be up to CCP with the help of the players to remedy this (as has been my experience with other MMO's).
My net connection is fine, it's just Eve that is an issue. I'm not changing ISP.

Edited by: Kurull Skullsplitter on 28/11/2007 15:13:42 I've been having multiple disconnects running two characters one client installation folder now for about the last 72 hours.
Cleared the cache didn't help. Also did the usual power down and restart of my IP connection hardware. |

Today I did major maint work on the local system. Uninstalled all of EVE and did a fresh download of the installation and re-installed.
First try. Would not connect. The Client showed the server up and running with however many online.

(NTL Broadband User) I have discovered something unusual, a petition that I have active with a GM asked for me to run a few pingplotter tests and I won't go into detail of all the results but all my pings for an hour turned out excellent, where is the unusual part you might ask? the second test I ran was to run pingplotter as I was playing Eve,I set a 1 second interval and sure enough within a few minutes I got a disconnection but heres the strange part, all the pings were still under 22ms with no packet loss...and I was monitoring it constantly no packet loss or high pins before the disconnection and none as it disconnected either....

I'm at a loss. Rang NTL *again*, talked to a few people, waiting for them to ring me back...
Something changed somewhere. I just wish CCP would ring them and ask "are you doing anything to block the service we supply to our customers".
I honestly dont think they are but it would rule out NTL themselves as a problem. I half blame the fact that Eve tends to be extremely unforgiving when it comes to disconnecting you for idleness. I tried logging in again today. Longest before disconnect, about 5 minutes. Shortest about 5 seconds...
If NTL get back to me and say it's nothing on their end (it'll be at least the third time they have checked that I know of) then I'm giving up. I've done everything I possibly can to try fix this. After this step there's nothing more I can do.

Ok, some updates, The link below is the company that CCP uses to host the game,
This is where the game falls over for me, anyone else??
http://www.limelightnetworks.com/solutions_games.html
Next thing on the list of goodie's
Tabula Rasa and Guild wars are having the same problem's
http://eu.plaync.com/eu/help/knowledgebase/
Guess who they use, so use pingplotter and check for this .llnwd
NTL is just saying check CCP,
Now my connection is dropping from this site, since 3 days ago

We need to help one another, **no hippie jokes**
What i read on the web is these, Hosting companies of the games, are running programmes to slow down torrents and all that jazz...
Maybe we need to ask what is on our systems, is it a mac address filter they have and we all have downloading torrents..

I can barely log in anymore to change skills. Stuck on Checking Status. EveMon is going crazy.."server online, server offline, server online...".
I know already what NTL will tell me *again* when they ring, "It's not on our end".
Two weeks since this problem started (for me, longer for others) and nothing has changed. Everyday more people are adding themselves to the list.
Sub runs out tomorrow. Renew canceled.

Exactly the same problem. Can connect only for couple minutes. First connect in a day is the longest. Started after last patch. Many times get stucked in character selection operation...I just start thinking about visiting guys in CCP personally, its not so far for me (ireland)

I've sent my pingplotter logs into CCP and they show a high ping on 1 of their servers leading to the game server, another server thats run by chello also had a highish ping but their was no packet loss on either one, either way the packets aren't being lost on client side it would seem that either 1)the server is sending packets which are being lost for some reason or 2)the server is just not sending back data for a second or 2 causing us to lose connection.

Seems to me like CCP raised the minimal bandwith required to stay connected to the server without warning... shame.
When I started playing 4 years ago, we were worth something to them since we, the community, were relatively small in numbers. But now, since they have so many subscribers, they can afford to lose a few... shame.
Then again, it's only my opinion.

As has been mentioned in this and the other c++ error threads there is no crash file generated butif you check your event viewers it clearly states that the module causing the problem is the python25.dll now i have stated this in the other threads my friend copied his event viewer report into his petition. now im not a programmer but im sure someone at ccp is and maybe they could check the python25.dll to see why it is causing these errors?

The issue with the C++ error is, as far as I'm aware, a result of losing connection, not the cause of it. For some people, the code is simply handling badly the connection loss.

thats fair enough but if my friend logs on at my pc he gets the c++ errors all the time, when i play on my character same pc same connection same client i dont disconnect nor get the errors, seems odd to me.

That is very weird. I actually checked to see if the problem was character based by logging in in a friends house, but the connection seemed fine there. I also have a Power of Two account (which I will be looking to obtain a refund for as its useless to me seeing that this problem hasnt been fixed ) which experiences the same problem.

Well one things for certain CCP aren't to bothered by it and should why would they they have 35,000 subscribers so what if a few hundred can't play its clearly not a problem with our isp's the problem is either server side or a problem with a server that our connections are routed through to get to the eve server.
CCP has to contact those server companies, they aren't going to do anything if a few random people call up complaining when their not even a customer to that company in anyway.
There is only 2 servers that could be causing the problems and I have given CCP the ip address's of both servers,1 of which belongs to them and 1 to a company called Chello.

Edited by: Jared Tua''tha on 30/11/2007 21:07:07 Well NTL got back with the expected answer. Nothing on their end. I pushed them to check yet again so they said they'd ring back. They're pretty tired of me at this stage.
I'm just fed up with the whole thing. Back and forth between CCP and the ISP. Both saying its not them. With Trinity coming up we can forget any solutions, seems like this issue has pretty much null priority.
Thanks to the ISD guys and the GM that tried to help, but with an issue like this it simply needs a dev communicating with the players and potential problem ISP/Servers on the routes to get anywhere. Constantly ringing the ISP ourselves when they keep telling us its not them only gets us flagged as an overly annoying customer.
Enjoy Trinity those who can play. Time for me to start fighting to get a refund for my power of two account.
