So - CCP -- most companies would have escorted their QA monkeys off the premises for something like this.
What's your excuse?

Weird problem, hope it gets fixed soon
What OS? Have you rebooted yet?

I seem to remember an Anarchy Online beta patch nuking people's...Win2k? installations, and also uninstalling Myth 2 could gut your OS while it was at it.
So yeah, this isn't exactly a first, but it's pretty goddamned terrible for CCP's SUPER EPIC HUGEST BEST PATCH EVER. ------ Director, No Quarter "There is no problem that cannot be solved by the judicious application of violence." |

You. Get out. Name single other instance where MMO software update has rendered your whole operating system unusable? This isn't about oh-my-god creation, this is about simply smoketesting your software before releasing it. Single test run would have shown this bug.
And to your idiotic "can't give critique if you don't do yourself" - how many movie critics are also top class film directors? You don't have to best in your field to give critique, you are the damn customer.
This isn't a mistake. This is lack of caring and incompetence.

I'm a CCP fanboy but this is some seriously inept quality assurance.
Confirm that the above solutions have worked, however.

I'm not sure what's going on... I've installed the classic to premium and the new client has bugged out twice on me and shut down down my computer twice. I'm still here I guess. Will I be affected if I manually reboot?
Those other two time my computer rebooted due to the client freezing and suddenly restarting my PC.

Actually FFXI did this for a time after one of its patches. It pretty muched gutted all the Windows files and not just one. So, this isn't a first for online gaming. Though, it is pretty bad... Adapt more, whine less. |

I found an SP1 disk lying around, and since my computer is running SP2 (Can't find an SP2 CD ), I was wondering, if I were to do the operation found in this, would it work?

I downloaded premium patch about 5pm server time, been on and of eve since then.. decided to read forums before i go to sleep.
Anyways after reading this thread i reboot my computer praying im ok,(using xp btw) upon restarting it comes up invalid boot.ini, rebooting from windows c:\ Now i can get bck on and play eve but worried about the invalid boot.ini file.
The only thing i know about pc is to turn them on read forums and play eve What should i do rebuild boot.ini file like others have suggested in this thread or leave it as it is and hope it always does that rebooting from windows thing it does

I was a victim of the FFXI fiasco. I had to reinstall the OS. :( Glad I caught this one before it bit me.
