Is anyone else having the same issue after today's update? This is on Tranquility?
Yes, this is on tranquility. I have tried repairing the launcher using the repair tool and now I get an error when trying to start the launcher. I will send the error log privately. |

As a temporary workaround, have you tried using the \CCP\EVE\bin\ExeFile.exe to launch the game? This should bypass the launcher. |

Tried this also, it says i dont have a valid version so all it does is update with a game patch, then a launcher patch then relaunches the launcher and does the same as before.
So i try it again and it just does the same thing, starts downloading a patch etc... |

Here is the solution: The Eve-Online Content Server is not the same server the game runs on. It is the server that certain content like all the character portraits and the In-Game Browser uses. Guess what? If you are using a Windows OS, You must have Internet Explorer installed and enabled. The Eve-Online Content Server piggybacks on Internet Explorer code to have a functional In-Game Browser. It is not surprising that the infernal "new" game launcher also uses Internet Explorer to a certain degree. Look and be sure that the IE Browser Settings Options that you have your Network Settings set to "NO PROXY."
This is how I fixed the issue without any help from CCP. Some of the inspiration and motivation came from other players in Eve that triggered a path of logic that reminded me that some time ago I disabled and removed IE from my system after the MSN and Bing update hijacked my PC and even to this day has influenced it's presence in my Firefox Browser, as well. Another curse from Microsoft![/quote]
Omg, this actually worked, dunno how it got enabled on the broweser but it has fixed the launcher. |

Same here. The patch the client downloads is always 6 mb, then starts one that's 24, then restarts the launcher but the launcher doesn't want any of it and fails to download anything.

This didn't work. My IE settings didn't have a proxy turned on in the first place, so there wasn't a proxy setting to turn off.
I hope you brought enough ammunition. |

If you still get the grey progress bar that downloads an update, you should try this: http://content.eveonline.com/EveOnlineLauncher/release/EVEOnlineLauncher_2_1_559197.exe

We still have the launcher issue, it's regarded with the "shortcut" eve creates for the launcher to start, it's named the actual launcher update to force it to start, and... i can no longer manage to launch the launcher now as i didn't pin the old shortcut to my task bar, so no i have no idea what to put into the shortcut name, i can't find any patch notes thread for the launcher...
Upon updating it downloads correctly, then restarts the launcher, possibly for the wrong version, then it tries updating but the files are already there , so it keeps flashing back and forth from "downloading update" to "installing" rapidly..
It must have something to do with the shortcut, for instance my old shortcut says
Target: "C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\launcher\appdata\EVE_Online_Launcher-2.1.559197.win32\launcher.exe"
Starts in: ""C:\Program Files (x86)\CCP\EVE\launcher\appdata\EVE_Online_Launcher-2.1.559197.win32""
which is the old launcher which is no longer working as it's obsolete, and the only way i can get it to fix is downloading the whole launcher over again by using the launcher repair tool.
Whenever i launch the old launcher it will say "offline mode" - it could be 1 of thousands of things doing it, but one thing i know is that restarting the launcher and computer to restart all processes will let it work correctly the second time makes it work correctly, and when i went looking for the updated launcher version only the old one was there.
so possibly it doesn't commence the install phase of the launcher? but the second time it does, also when i launched the old launcher from my taskbar from where it was pinned and when i go looking for the new update it doesn't show, so either launching the shortcut deletes the new content, or the new content gets downloaded but not installed due to some random error.
I've fixed my issue and repinned the new one and removed the old one from my taskbar, but every time i update it wont launch my launcher correctly or it takes a while
however i am launching the launcher update from the folder "EVE_Online_Launcher-2.1.559197.win32" so maybe the issue lies with pinning it to the task bar? - so..... now i have to have 3 eves pinned to the task bar?
I think the next step is to create a windows localized installer which only needs 1 item pinned to the taskbar, there must be a way you can have the client, launcher, and updated launcher work in the same taskbar tab? i do have an idea however, just change the "starts in:" to the "ccp\eve" folder" |

Launcher went ****-up this afternoon. got a "no internet connection" message. Tried launcher repair tool. Nothing happened.
Uninstall/reinstall, now the launcher updates, then nothing happens. Same thing happens if I try running the launcher again.
Repairer now works after the reinstall, but now I get a PANIC error message when it runs. A second attempt at the repair tool was successful, so back to the launcher.
After trying the launcher one more time I get a message to check the launcher.exe.log file, where I find this:

Due to the way that the Launcher bootstraps itself the executable you pin to the taskbar after it's started (by right clicking and going 'pin to taskbar') isn't correct and will break as you've detailed. Since this appears to be the current launcher thread-- I'm having an issue where, if I start the launcher, it spawns a bunch of update.exe processes that eat all the memory on my laptop and kill it. Only way to get out is to push and hold the power button. Computer is a lenovo thinkpad running windows 7.
I discovered this when trying to update an old EVE install (last patched in January). I've got no dice on the repair tool, either-- it downloaded 1.some gigabytes of stuff, and then said my two or three free gigabytes in the partition weren't enough space to patch. And I found this out because the mac update means you can't launch duality on the mac anymore (fake edit: yes you can, using the stuff in this post: http://warp-to-sun.tumblr.com/post/55439633538/fix-for-os-x-duality-issues ) http://warp-to-sun.tumblr.com -- my blog |

If the process is updater.exe then the only reason you're seeing it is that old version of the Launcher (v.1.32) is trying to update itself to the newer versions (v2.1.xxxxxx) Running the installer I linked, should install the new version of the EVE Launcher and remove the old one.
This is all based on an assumption; could you provide some logs or screenshots of what's happening? Product Owner, EVE Launcher | Team Special Circumstances |

I finaly did it. everything updated well.
my first error was to run repair and then when it asked for self updating, I updated it. DONT update it.
Also, disable NOD/ESET protocol filtering as suggested by OP.
Then I ran the eve.exe in folder (NOT SHORTCUT from desktop, it failed that way, dont know why???)
Then launcher started and repped everything, and I ran the game.
Guys in CCP, you should get better in this, after all, it's ten years old.... |

Sooo... I think I might have made a mistake here... After taking a long time, the Eve launcher finally updated itself only to tell me that a new model was available and did I want it. I said yes. Turned out to be a big mistake since the launcher couldn't update itself and constantly gave me errors, telling me I needed to use the repair tool. Well that didn't work either. Failed there too. So I thought maybe I ought to uninstall and reinstall. Welll..... I can't get that to happen either. The progress keeps getting to a percent and then tells me it's been interrupted and needs to start all over again. Currently stuck at 66% with no progress. |

This is all based on an assumption; could you provide some logs or screenshots of what's happening? Here are screenshots -- I'm having a hard time on logs, because I'm not sure where I'd look. http://imgur.com/a/hk6cp
When I found this thread, I downloaded the new launcher file you linked. I renamed my old launcher shortcut so it'd still be around, and put the launcher.exe file you linked in my EVE folder (pictured in album).
Since then, I've just double clicked on it. As you can see, my drive doesn't have a lot of space-- this computer dual-boots from Linux. To get the behavior in the last screenshot, I, go to the Program Files(x86)\CCP\EVE Online folder and then double click on the launcher file (the new one, 2.1.xxxxx). It then spawns a bunch of processes with that file's name (apologies for them being hidden behind my Paint window; it was hard to take a screenshot once the processes started eating memory). Each one takes ~2-3 k of memory, and they start spawning and repeatedly spawn once the launcher is launched.
As I said earlier, I tried running the repair tool but it said I was out of space. It had downloaded about 1.8 gigs of stuff (I started with ~3.5 free) and was installing when it presented me with an out of space error. I'm now going to try clearing off another partition and increasing the space on my computer. After that, I'll post whether it resolved my issues. http://warp-to-sun.tumblr.com -- my blog |

Expanding available space didn't do it, repair tool ran into an error at the very end, and trying to uninstall EVE via the control panel spawned a million copies of some other .exe. Er, any advice for how to get the client working again? I'm a little scared to just download an installer and try .

I use the launcher V2.1.571330 which comes with EVE release 8.31.571887. EVE returns me the message "Login failed: The authentication token provided by the launcher is of an invalid Format." when I try to start the game.
I am getting this message since 4 days and am not able to start EVE. Before I had no Problems for a Long time. I did a complete fresh Installation of EVE and I also run the repair tool. Still I am getting this message about a wrong token by the launcher.
What is wrong with my launcher?

Yay for whoever it was that said we should be using jdownloader to grab the archives for offline installation.
I'm not done extracting yet, but reached 40%, so i guess ill be just fine. Downloads through the normal installer or "browser"-downloads of the archives failed to extract way before the 10% mark before. |
